Dammit. Ferris gritted her teeth slightly as the Gible adjusted, turning what would have been a directed hit into a guided one. Seemed like the Gible was willing to take a blow to give one as Jarvis' opened his eyes wide, unable to dodge the uppercut at such a proximity. It smashed into his jaw with a momentary pause, as if giving the KO in a fighting game, before he lightly lifted off the ground.
Down but not out, however. As the Pawniard was steadily picked up from the afterblow of the twister he launched out with his legs, aiming to grab the Gible between his feet and shoot him up with him. Whether or not this worked, Jarvis flexed himself in the air - obviously injured and running on the last bit of fumes - and activated Protect right behind him. He used the translucent shield of hexagonal force as a launching pad in the fight that was still in close combat, shoving himself right at the Gible with arms at his side.
"Excellent! Show him the real power of steel!" Jarvis forced forward and crossed both arms for a Double Night Slash, intending to use the middair force like the Gible previously used the fire. However, it was obvious to Ferris - and possibly Zerne - that whether this hit or not, Jarvis was going to give out after this attack. It was hit or miss, and missing meant a loss.
Summary: Tried to pick Gible up with it; whether or not that worked, used Protect to immediately launch self back for a final attack with two Night Slashes

As the twister reached its zenith, Achilles finally allowed himself to stop spinning and lower his arm. That allowed him to see the Pawniard reaching out for him with his feet even as he started to fall to the ground. In response, the Gible leaned down and made his body fall faster, managing to dodge the steel pokemon’s grab by inches.
A small thud sounded as Achilles rolled into a ball –well, as much as something with a large fin on his head could anyway- and landing on the ground, dispersing the force of the landing’s impact through the roll. Once the force was dispersed, the Gible uncurled himself and hopped to his feet with a grin, only to be met with the sight of the Pawniard launching himself at the land shark using a translucent shield as a launching pad.
Achilles didn’t need Zernebog’s orders to know what to do next. He moved his feet backwards a bit, almost as if he was preparing to face the attack head-on instead of dodging. However, he seemingly wasn’t doing anything as the Pawniard and his attack got closer and closer. Instead of being on edge like most people would be as they watched this, Zernebog looked entirely calm and relaxed. He trusted his Gible to do the right thing when it came because he taught him well.
The reason for his calm countenance became apparent when the attack struck what looked like Achilles, only to see him disappear right after being struck. As it turned out, the Pawniard had struck an afterimage. The real Achilles was standing behind the Pawniard with a smirk on his face as a breeze and soft dust were kicked up due to his rapid movement, creating an effect where the Gible looked… cool, of all things.
The pudgy dragon then turned around to look at the Pawniard, waiting to see if he still had the strength to continue on. From what he had seen earlier, he wasn’t sure if he had imagined it but it looked as if he was running on the last dregs of his stamina, so he wasn’t readying an attack like he should’ve probably been. Instead, he just watched the steel pokemon carefully.
Jarvis released what surely was a devastating attack in the form of two crossing slashes of dark energy, smashing right into the Gible and kicking up and immediate cloud of debris that would have blocked the view for both trainers. It cleared within moments, revealing the sad truth of the world - the Pawniard's arms were buried into the floor of the arena with large tracts from the attack, a clear sign of how lucky the Gible got - a direct hit from either one of those attacks could have spelled disaster. The Pawniard, clearly coated in damage from his own full-power assault, tried to pull his arms out before falling forward, knocked out cold.
Ferris nodded, retrieving Jarvis' pokeball and recalling him with the red beam of light before pocketing the capsule. "Well done, challenger. I believe that against you, I can go all out." As she spoke, her left hand casually pulled open her suit jacket, not only showing off a bit of her white button up shirt but also the inside pocket her other hand dipped into, pulled out a Pokeball. It had a bit of an aged look to it, like how an old trophy would look - well taken care of but still showing its true colors.
"Well, do you think you can handle the best I can throw at you...? Brace yourself, Mr. Romanov. I'm about to teach you what the Steel type is truly capable of."
She held the ball out in her right hand, her arm as steady as it ever could be. Her demeanor was a tad different - there was a small change to her expression, like one who just drew into a winning hand in a game of cards. This wouldn't be a learning game like it was meant to be with her Pawniard. This was going to be a heart to heart the way trainer's could do it.
"You're up, Arthur." The Pokeball was lightly tossed up, and the red light showered about in the air as the Pokemon materialized. A knight in shining arm charged directly down smashing into the floor of the arena. It had been a while since he had gotten to fight off one of her challengers, and he pried both of his lances out of the ground one by one, an intimidating glint in his eyes as he made a light clicking noise. The Escavalier seemed to have the presence of an army within him as he stared down Zerne and the Pokemon before him.
"You know the drill." That was all she had to say before the bug rocketed forward with a surprising bit of speed, left lance reared back and launching forward at the dragon - at medium range, the sudden surge of energy that shimmered down the lance and fired itself off as a Focus Blast of orange energy would have made for a colorful start to the battle. With the attack being intended to be dodged, his other lance reared back as the Escavalier was coated in white streaks - the Aerial Ace attack allowing him to move at a blinding speed to the side of the target Pokemon, smashing the lance in once before firing off another Focus Blast - this time just a second after the Aerial Ace landed, intending to blow away the target from close range.

As soon as the dust cleared, Zernebog knew that the battle was over. Achilles had won. The unconscious state of the Pawniard was quite telling.
Zernebog looked over to the woman as she recalled her pokemon, his eyes shining with a hint of smugness with how Achilles completely dominated the Pawniard. Of course, he had no illusions that the Pawniard was the best she’s got. There has to be some reason why the Orre league would give her the Gym Leader title, after all.
"Well done, challenger. I believe that against you, I can go all out." As usual, Zernebog was correct. He was rarely wrong about these things anymore after he started listening to his gut.
”Gible?” Zernebog would have continued to listen to her, but his attention was suddenly grabbed by Achilles. The white haired man was rendered speechless when he saw that the Gible was actually starting to glow a bright white. Having been a trainer for around a decade now, he’d recognize this phenomenon anywhere.
He’s… evolving! A huge, genuine smile made its way on Zernebog’s face as he watched the dragon pokemon’s form grow taller and slimmer, getting longer in practically all areas and at least doubling in height. He also watched as the main fin migrated from his head to his back and two fins sprout from his arms and one on his lengthened tail.
When the glow finally faded, the new form was revealed. Dark blue scales covered the dragon, with lighter blue scales as highlights and dark orange scales covering his underbelly. Two horns shaped like jet engines were perched on the sides of his head, with a light blue stripe in the middle. The biggest change though were the eyes, which now had yellow irises with black sclera, making him look quite fearsome and predatory.
”Gabite!” The newly-evolved pokemon exclaimed with a shark-like grin as he waved his new arms in the air and jabbed them at an unseen foe.
Coincidentally, he finished evolving just as Gwyneth released her next pokemon, some weird medieval knight creature with metal armor and two lances. All he really knew about it was that it was a steel-type that was having a stare-down with Achilles from what he’d heard from her while he was watching Achilles reach the next stage, which was good enough for him.
”Achilles, down under~!” Zernebog ordered, his smile turning back into its usual default smirk.
”Gabite!” In response, Achilles quickly dived down and dug a tunnel underground at speeds easily twice he had done as a Gible, managing to dodge the Focus Blast in the process as well as the Aerial Ace and the other Focus Blast with ease by tunnelling underground and getting away from what was otherwise a sure-fire hit.
Like the trained land shark that he was, Achilles continued to tunnel further into the ground as he waited for his trainer’s next command. He can’t wait to see what he can do with his bigger and stronger body now! This was going to rock so hard!
The Focus Blast may have missed the evolved Pokemon, and the follow up attacks simply had the attack miss, but it was still a testament to his power and experience - the smashed Focus Blast was aimed into the tunnel entrance and blew a good bit of it away, leaving a small crater. Ferris shifted her weight to her other leg as she watched the attack, shaking her head in disapproval. Now she remembered why she didn't always pull out her Escavalier- he was messy.
She leaned her head to the side a bit, nodding to Zerne. "Are you sure you can handle a freshly evolved Pokemon?" There wasn't any sounds of accusation in her voice; she wasn't doubting his abilities as a trainer to accomplish the task. However, as a Gym Leader, her formost duty was to be a leader in the community, and this included helping trainers with new experiences; she had been in this situation before with Arthur himself and didn't want this to become a wrecking ball of a battle, nor did she want a disobedient Pokemon on the other side. That said and done, she waved a hand at Arthur. "Iron Defense. Brace yourself."
The Escavalier seemed to flex, in a way, taking on a glistening shine before whipping himself about with his reinforced armor. Arthur continuously moved about in burst movements, waiting for the Gabite to show itself. The moment he even got a hint as to where it was, he was prepped to Aerial Ace and fire off a Twinneedle attack once the Ace got him within range to do so. Arthur's guard was iron hard offense, after all.

"Are you sure you can handle a freshly evolved Pokemon?"
Zernebog suppressed a twinge of annoyance at the question. Sure she hadn’t said them in a condescending tone, but it was irritating to hear someone doubt his abilities all the same.
The old him would have snapped at her to not doubt his abilities because he was awesome enough to handle it on his own, but this new and improved version of himself –while still utterly irritated- knew to play it cool. She had no way of knowing that this was far from his first rodeo, and it was only to his advantage if she knew as little of that as possible.
Using that knowledge to assuage his bruised ego, Zernebog made sure that his smirk stayed on his face. ”We’ll be fine.”
As Gwyneth made preparations by making that knightly bug use Iron Defense, Zernebog pretended to be impatient and started tapping his feet on the ground. However, instead of the usual tapping they were more of a tap then drag in a triangular shape. Let’s see it try to get out of this one.
Underneath the ground, Achilles grinned as he felt the vibrations from his trainer’s foot from where he was situated. He had his orders now, time to execute them as Pops said! Evolved or not, he didn’t want Pops or Big Bro Rion mad at him because he didn’t follow orders like he was supposed to, especially since he wasn’t as experienced as they are.
He could feel the Escavalier moving up on the surface, though it feels lighter than it should be for a creature with all of that armor. No matter. He’d just have to strike hard and fast as always. With those thoughts in mind, he started to go up, but as he did he twitched his left claw to the right and then to the left.
If his calculations were correct, then two large pointy rocks akin to stalagmites should have erupted from the ground at the front and back of the large metal creature. As soon as he’d felt the two rocks leave the ground completely, he himself emerged from the ground and lunged at the Escavalier from the side in a rising, diagonal manner where it was hard for it to reach with its lance-arms. He was hoping that those rocks would distract him from his true method of attack by making him think that they were him emerging from the ground, leaving him open to a full strike from his real attack.
The other man replied curtly, and Ferris nodded. Fair enough. This just meant that she could keep the kiddie gloves off and show Zerne how a dragon was felled by a knight. She recrossed her arms as Escavalier continued to jolt around in bursts, propelling himself with that odd electromagnetism known for their species - well, them and their companion species, Accelgor. Evolutionary energy that coexisted between the two gave them some fantastic traits upon evolution, and this was one of them.
That didn't stop the force from his movements from being sensed on the ground, however, and soon it was apparent that the dragon knew where he was. A jagged rock smashed up from the ground and rocketed towards him, with a similar sound behind him. "Arthur, 6 and 12, Twineedle!" Escavalier shot himself sideways so that the two incoming stones were at his sides, then he jabbed out with both lances, both of them aglow with blueish energy - hitting and smashing the rocks as he roared out. That's my beserker.
However, the dig attack was to come from behind him at his current angle. The rising crumble in the ground was his indication that something was behind him, and as he turned the Gabite struck! He felt himself pushed back by the Dig attack as Ferris called out. "Now's your chance! Counter!"
Escavalier seemed to be covered in wispy white lines for a moment before the Aerial Ace moved him in place, having him from taking a hit from behind to aiming a lance right down Gabite's throat, smashing forward with the attack. From there he let out a cross wave of energy by slacing his lances in an X-Scissor, seeking to smash Gabite more while he had him in range.

”Block!”
”Ga!”
Achilles immediately raised a glowing claw, blocking the glowing lance with a grunt. Had he not evolved after the battle with the smaller steel-type, he would’ve been hard-pressed to block the move even with Dragon Claw. However, his new form had a ton of new advantages that are just waiting to be played with, including increased strength even though his new arms were slimmer.
The Escavalier then pulled back his lance-arm and made a cross-movement. One that was extremely familiar to Zernebog due to having a Scyther. ”Burn through that!” The white trainer ordered as the wave of energy began to leave the spread lances.
Achilles’ mouth opened wide as he watched the energy from the attack approach him, but he wasn’t gaping from shock like some may thing. Instead, he released a jet of flames from the pit of his stomach that exploded with the wave of energy on impact, sending the Gabite flying away from the Escavalier. Instead of fighting it though, the Gabite let the explosion carry him away, glad that any residual damage –little though it may be- would probably be on his opponent’s side than on his own because of the way it exploded, but it still stung his face a little.
While in the air, the Gabite huffed and sent off another Flamethrower towards the armored pokemon, using the powerful and fast stream of fire to attack and move himself a little bit further away from the knight. It looked to be a much better close-range fighter than the other one, so it was probably much safer to keep his distance and wear the thing down even though close-combat was more of his specialty.
{Battle Summary}Achilles blocks the Aerial Ace with Dragon Claw and the X-Scissor with Flamethrower. He then attacks the Escavalier with another Flamethrower.
Such an excellent counter with Dragon Claw! Ferris had a glint in her eyes as the smile on her face grew wide. It was hard to match the primal power locked within Dragon powered moves... well, aside from the Steel-type, who regularly shrugged such advanced attacks off. That said, she was still impressed with the power this guy was packing. The evolution seemed to have given it a second wind and so this fight was practically just getting started.
Unfortunately for Gabite, Arthur had seen so many of these attacks before - always with the fire based attacks! Challengers always faced her with such attacks and they had developed a plan just for that. As the initial X-Scissor failed, the scorching heat blasted back as Escavalier seemed to charge something in its left lance...
As the first set of flames falter, Escavalier launched an orb of blue energy directly up to the ceiling, where it vanished from relevance for the moment as Arthur fired off a small Focus Blast with his other arm - the force of which shoved him away from the flames, aimed no where near the Gabite. As the Escavalier came to a skidding halt, the blue orb from earlier kicked in - it unfurled into an arena-size area of dark cloud, instantly splattering the arena in a thick, wet misty spray. Rain Dance was now in effect. Ferris smiled as the light downpour hit her as well, darkening her hair and her suit. Oh well, she always had more.
She nodded at Arthur, who rocketed right at the Gabite with an Iron Head attack, full headpiece aglow with energy. Hopefully the sudden change of position from Focus Blast in combination with the Rain Dance would be enough to distract this dragon so a knight could slay it.
Summary: Rain Dance, used Focus Blast to dodge the Flamethrower, Iron Head charge!

Rain Dance.
Zernebog couldn’t help the impressed grin that spread on his face when he felt the rain start to pour down in sheets. By all respects, he should’ve been mad that the woman found a counter to the blazing flames that usually plagued steel-types. However, instead of being angry for losing an important edge over his opponent like he should’ve been he actually wanted to applaud her for her creativity instead.
”Bravo~” Zernebog clapped as he watched his Gabite land on the ground with a soft thump, internally gleeful at the fact that his dragon wasn’t even fazed by the Focus Blast since it wasn’t directed at him. ”But rain’s not my thing, you see.”
His grin then turned into a dangerous smirk even as he watched the Escavalier begin to rocket towards Achilles headfirst. ”So I guess it’s time to fade away….”
At those words, Achilles’ head shot up. With a wicked grin, the Gabite unleashed a powerful twister of sand from his body that obscured the battlefield and ripped apart the rain clouds easily, turning the field from a rain-drenched fighting area to the dragon’s personal playground of choice. With his new playground in place, the Gabite easily slid past the Iron Head by taking advantage of his natural increased evasion in a sandstorm.
As Zernebog pulled out a pair of goggles from his jacket pocket and put it on his eyes in order to see properly (and mentally thanked Ricki for giving him the idea), Achilles practically disappeared into the sands as he moved away from the Escavalier swiftly, but not before giving him a parting gift of vicious and violent tremors that rocked the entire gym.
{Battle Summary}Achilles removes the rain by summoning a violent storm of sand with Sandstorm and then dodges the Iron Head with the help of his ability Sand Veil. He then attacks the Escavalier with an Earthquake.
I know that this is what I want, this is what I need
Through the screen of rain she could see Zerne's demeanor and she wondered what it was that tickled him so. Ferris watched him carefully as Escavalier rocketed by her view, listening to him clip as she raised her head slightly to see past a wet bang. It seemed like a sincere form of congratulations, but why would he do so? Zerne seemed like an all-in kind of gambler, so he wouldn't do this unless he had something else in mind...
Before that train of thought evolved further, she caught on to what he meant, but it was too late for her to do anything with Escavalier, who was dead set on smashing Gabite to bits. Suddenly the sandstorm erupted and Ferris raised her sleeve to her brow, trying to help with the newfound debris in her vision.
The shaking earth was her priority issue as Escavalier's sense of electromagnetic balance was knocked off for a bit, damaging him in an internal sort of way - like getting punched in the ear. Ferris did managed to bark out an order. "Arthur! Get another screen of rain up, pronto! Soak this dragon!"
Another jab into the sky with the lance as he regained balance saw the sandstorm rip apart and falter and the torrential blue orb smashed upwards and rippled out into dark clouds once more, adding an odd layered effect to the ground of the gym - wet sand was mixing into the floor, making it odd to tell where one was going. On one hand, it left tracks, but on the other hand, it was raining and things quickly washed away - which did give Escavalier at least a second of clear view before Gabite would have been able to block himself from sight with another sand trick.
This second mattered and he spotted the dragon, which prompted Escavalier to do a tried and true tactic that even the Gabite had used - attack propulsion. He seemed to spin in place in that second, firing off a Focus Blast that accelerated Escavalier at Gabite faster than he'd been going in the match thus far - right in time for a close range Iron Head to give the sand dragon a killer headache.

So she wants a war, huh? Well, if the lady wants a war, then who am I to deny her?
A predatory grin spread over Zernebog’s face as he watched the knightly pokemon charge at Achilles with a Focus Blast-boosted Iron Head. Well, if the knight wasn’t going to learn from his mistakes can continue to charge head-on, then who was he to deprive him of that right?
”Up and away, Achilles!” Zernebog barked as he continued to watch with a grin.
In response to Zernebog’s order, Achilles summoned a twister beneath his feet, lifting him away from the enhanced Iron Head. Once the twister was at its zenith, he immediately unleashed a second twister from his body, this time made out of sand instead of wind and had it rip apart the storm clouds that had formed from the Rain Dance orb.
A few moments later, the twister at his feet guttered out when it was hit by the Iron Head, forcing Achilles to start falling onto the ground. Seeing an opportunity from the guttered twister, Zernebog barked an order. ”Now!”
Achilles smirked again as he angled his falling body to face the Escavalier’s back. ”Gaaaa!” With a bellow, he released another stream of flames moving very fast right at the Escavalier’s back while he was still moving with the Iron Head. Simultaneously, he was being pushed back by the force of his flames, lifting him further into the sand-filled air. Hopefully this one would hit. Achilles and Zernebog had no illusions that it would end the fight, but just making it slow down would be good enough.
{Battle Summary}Achilles dodges the Iron Head by lifting himself up with Twister, and then summons another storm of sand with Sandstorm to displace the rain. After that, he attacks the Escavalier with a Flamethrower.
I know that this is what I want, this is what I need
Oho, he did manage to dodge it! Ferris maintained her pleased grin as the battle continued to play out. It was an interesting turn of events that she was watching; it was common for two experienced trainers to only have to call out to their trusted Pokemon every so often, like coaches with boxers rather than like a commander with their unit. Younger trainers often had to give every single order, but between these two experienced trainers, it was adjustments and phrases as two powerhouses pounded one another.
The twister was nothing new; the dragon had already shown aptitude using attacks to maintain an airborne presence. She watched as Arthur smashed the pillar of draconic wind to pieces as the Gabite once again ushered in an era of sand. This time Ferris only raised her forearm to her head to help with the sand. There was another glint in her eyes, this time the one of a gambler. She was willing to bet Arthur could handle this.
Arthur could hear the flames, but he had little time to dodge with the afterwinds of the Twister still dispersing around him. He spun, digging a lance tip into the ground to give him traction for his high speed turn. His left lance got doused in the edge of the flame, but Arthur hardly winced as he began to envelope himself in an Aerial Ace attack, the wispy white lines indicating his departure from his current location before he was in the air to Gabite's right, slightly below him - eye level on the dragon's gut as he jabbed a lance right at the dragon and decided to fire off the Rain Dance right at him, the orb of drenching water spewing forth more rain as it either smacked Gabite or rocketed past. From there, Arthur jabbed twice more in the form of a Twinneedle attack, lances glowing with energy from the poisonous attack.
All the while, Ferris just enjoyed the sound of the rain.

”Ga!”
Achilles’ eyes widened in alarm when he saw the blue orb head towards him. He had absolutely no idea why the knight would use something that he already knew summoned the rain, which meant that it wouldn’t damage him at all if it hit. He was tempted to just let it hit and wash over him, but he knew that Pops wouldn’t forgive him if he just let that happen, so he had another thing in mind.
Achilles released another twister of sand to meet the orb of water, cancelling them both out in the process and keeping the current weather condition in place. He then dived to the right and used Double Team to redirect both of lance strikes to an afterimage. If the Escavalier had been looking carefully, he might’ve seen the Gabite’s form waver and split in two, like a ghost, as he used Double Team.
Once he had dodged, Achilles immediately released another powerful stream of flames aimed at the Escavalier’s left flank. Whether or not it impacted –which he was hoping it did, mind you- the Gabite used the force from the Flamethrower to disengage himself from the knight and gain some valuable breathing space while speeding up his descent to the ground. As fun as it was to fight in the air, the land shark was way more comfortable on the ground, thank you very much.
Zernebog could only grin as he watched Achilles duke it out with the knight in the air. He was glad that those training sessions with Ares and Hyperion actually paid off, even if he was brutally beaten down by the latter half the time. Of course, he was even happier that his pokemon was adjusting to his new body so well, but that may be just a quirk of pokemon evolution and genetics. Still, the better reach was very useful for this new foe.
He’d have to remember to ask Gwyneth what their species names were after the rounds were over. It was starting to get a little bit awkward to just call them steel pokemon in his head and he always liked learning about new things anyway.
{Battle Summary}Achilles cancels out the Rain Dance with Sandstorm before it activates, leaving the current sandstorm still raging. He then dodges the Twineedle with Double TeamDevil Bat Ghost. After that, he attacks the Escavalier with a Flamethrower.
I know that this is what I want, this is what I need
The shock value of a point-blank Rain Dance didn't last long enough for Arthur to get off his desired effect of landing a solid attack, it seemed. Arthur himself thought that for a moment he had landed a solid strike, but instead of his lance smashing and knocking back the Gabite, it went right through - a damn Double Team! As his eyes tracked where he thought he had seen movement, there was a burst of flames coming at his flank. With no time to properly dodge in this sandstorm in the air, Escavalier aimed both lances at the flames right as they were about to smash into him, the orange energy from his lances just barely firing off as a Focus Blast, causing a close explosion that just had the flames roil around him - not without damage from his own attack at such a close range, however.
As the mini-explosion subsided from surrounding Escavalier, Gabite might find that he was dropping right for him - Arthur primed a lance back for what seemed like would be a jab as he rocketed towards the ground before being lined once more with wispy lines - he was having to use Aerial Ace just to keep up with Gabite's superior speed in this battle. He vanished for just a moment with the speed of the attack, not sure how many more times he could actually use it before the strain of the movement technique got to him.
He would appear right in front of Gabite, reared back for a strike before stopping his attack and dipping to the left to show his previously reared back left lance - time to blast Gabite with a Focus Blast from the side. In the air, Gabite had the advantage, but Escavalier had years of experience of fighting on the ground.
Ferris tightened her grip on a coin in her hand. Arthur needed to land a decisive hit against this Gabite. Otherwise, they'd have to resort to that tactic...
