THE BATTLE BEGINS; ZERNEBOG
While the sound of the snaps couldn’t be heard from where she was, Ricki caught the sound of the other’s whistle over the city ambiance below. She was sure the smoke and airborne battling was drawing quite the crowd, but she didn’t care much for that. No one could see a thing through this smoke, and it was hard to breathe. Almost like her lungs wanted to cave in, Ricki shook her head and stumbled back for a moment, before her heart stopped when she felt the edge of the building under her foot. Her heel was suspended on the air, and turning her head, Ricki could see the fire escape Zernebog had climbed up to get to the roof top. “Get out!” she shouted, before hopping the ledge.
Following the order, the Bronzong brought down his arms to suddenly launch into the air and over the heavy smoke. While it didn’t need to breathe, it still needed to see which had been the main issue it encountered in the smoke. What Shield hadn’t anticipated being the first thing he saw when he got out was two incoming Flame Bursts from opposing directions. While he was no longer at the point the attacks had been originally aimed at, the splash of the flames managed to reach him. Colliding with the Bronzong, the Pokémon cried out briefly before turning back towards the Charizard.
Without any prompt from his trainer, who was currently trying to catch her breath on the fire escape, Shield’s eyes illuminated. There was a moment of nothing, before another wave of focused explosions began around the Charizard. As the small bursts of energy exploded and possibly sent the Pokémon running to try another angle, Shield would turn his body as fast as he could to try and shoot off Confusion at the Charizard in an attempt to confuse him as he fled from the damaging explosions.
As the Confusion was fired, Ricki had managed to catch her breath after a harsh coughing fit. With a disgusting spit and clearing of her throat, her golden eyes shot back up to see the smoke hadn’t cleared but from the sounds of it, Shield was handling himself for the time being. Reaching into her bag, Ricki pulled out her old pair of goggles and tugged them on, snapping them neatly into place to protect her eyes. With them cover, she turned and got to the task of climbing back up onto the roof, holding her breath. Once she was up, she tugged the collar of her under shirt up to cover her mouth and act as a make-shift filter. While it didn’t do much to improve the air quality, it was at least tolerable at this point. Her eyes shot up to focus back on the battle, taking note the Shield had suffered some damage, but he was still good to go.
Shield is hit by the splash damage of both Flame Bursts attacks. He counters with an Extrasensory, though, which has a 10% chance at making Hyperion flinch. Immediately Extrasensory is followed by a Confusion which has a 10% chance of confusing Hyperion.

Golden light, tunnel white. If I run to you, would you stay? I might be a prototype, but we’re both real inside.
“Get out!”
Oh, drat. She must’ve come to the correct conclusion when Zernebog gave out the signal. Well, that was unfortunate. However, it was also just a set-back. It was only a matter of time now. He could already hear the clock ticking- or was that the people below chattering?
Zernebog chanced looking up in the smoke-covered area to give Hyperion his next order, only to see his large winged silhouette occupied with something else for the moment. Knowing that Hyperion usually knew what to do in a battle even without his prodding because of all of the years they spent practicing and perfecting their strategies and techniques together, the white haired trainer decided to keep his mouth shut for once and just enjoy this for a bit. Besides, maybe this’ll get them the element of surprise.
”Zard.”
Sharp teeth were bared in annoyance. He’d missed again. And here he was hoping that the fork attack would work. Oh well, at least now he had a clear visual of that pretentious blue bell he was trying to melt into a puddle.
Speaking of that pretentious blue bell, Hyperion saw that its eyes were glowing again. Not good. Steeling his jaw in determination, the black dragon-like pokemon immediately flew to the left in a quick burst of speed, managing to dodge the small explosions that started to erupt from where he had previously been drifting on. However, he wasn’t fast enough to dodge the purple beam that it shot off in response. He was fast, but he was no Ninjask.
Fortunately, he had other tricks hidden in the wings. With a powerful flap of his wings, he launched a pair of wind blades while in flight. The wind blades cut through the purple beam, but it shrank and slowed down as it continued to head towards the Bronzong. He wasn’t expecting it to do to do more than irritate than Bronzong, of course, but that wasn’t the point.
Almost immediately following the wind blades cutting through the beam, the black Charizard unleashed another stream of black smoke right at the Bronzong’s new location, hoping to keep it obscured in the smoke as long as possible. It didn’t have the latent heat inherent in his combo, but it should still obscure their vision anyway should it hit.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Battle Summary: Hyperion dodges the extrasensory and counters the Confusion beam with an Air Slash, which cuts through the Confusion easily and continues on towards the Bronzong at a third of its original power. Air Slash has a 30% chance of causing flinching. The Air Slash is followed up with a Smokescreen. Smokescreen causes the opponent's accuracy to lower by a stage if it hits.

THE BATTLE BEGINS; ZERNEBOG
The orders had stopped coming from her opponent and Ricki inwardly cursed. Even with her mouth covered and the make-shift air filter, the smoke was still being troublesome. She needed to see that Charizard to see what it was doing, but it was hard to do so from her position and the smoke. Shield floating up high above at the Charizard’s level would have a much easier time seeing the other Pokémon at least. Something about the Pokémon and trainer she was currently up against still rang some old bell in her head. Something about all of this was familiar, but she couldn’t place her finger on it. White hair… It wasn’t something you saw every day on someone so young that was for sure. Ricki joggled her mind as she watched the skies above, clearing her throat occasionally.
In the skies above Shield carefully as his Confusion attack went right for the Charizard. Rather than hitting Hyperion as planned, though, the Charizard was already on the move to counter the attack. With a flap of his wings, the flying fire-type released a strong Air Slash attack to intercept the Confusion. While slowed and weakened by the collision, the Air Slash still continued on its path right for Shield and knocked the Pokémon back a few feet. While there was little to no damage in result, the attack left the Bronzong frozen as he tried to think of how to hit back. He was about to move before before he could, he was suddenly buried in yet another cloud of smoke.
Ricki gritted her teeth at the sight of all the smoke, moving to use both her hands to cover her mouth even more so. Her coughing started up, again, and she made her way along the roof to drop back down on the fire escape, again. With a loud clatter, Ricki dropped down gracelessly. Coughing and spitting to try and rid her mouth of the taste, it was in the midst of her irritated hacking that things began to click. That son of a bitch. Ricki glared up at the edge of the roof, her memories of a time long ago finally coming back to her. “Zernebog Romanov!” she shouted, stomping a foot on the metal to make sure she got his attention. “I swear to Areceus, if I die from smoke inhalation, I am haunting your ass!” she declared, as mature as always. Granted, Zernebog was one of the few people who had ever actually seen Ricki when she was in a serious mode. As a member of Arcane when it came to the harder serious jobs, Ricki would typically drop the bullshit and enter a mode of pure determination. Get the job done, do it fast, and save the crap for later, she was a mature and cautious leader who was being groomed to become a ruthless force by the upper leaders of their group. With how she was most of the time, though, it was easy to forget that.
“Steal my donuts, make some stupid bet, and then drown me in smoke, Ziggy, that’s just not cool, man!” she complained, before looking up to see Bronzong had drifted back from Hyperion but was not moving to fight back. If this kept up, Ricki wasn’t going to leave her Pokémon to play defense anymore and just return him for his sake.

“Zernebog Romanov! I swear to Areceus, if I die from smoke inhalation, I am haunting your ass!”
Despite the eye-watering smoke, Zernebog couldn’t help but smirk at her words. So she finally remembered him. It was about time! He didn’t think that a cocky Mohawk-wearing, shirt-avoiding friend was easy to forget, but this proved otherwise.
Instead of saying anything though, he just continued to smirk as he listened to her shout threats at him. As fun as it would be to trade banter with his old boss and friend, he really didn’t want to risk smoke inhalation too, even though he had something to filter most of it out. Despite having a fire pokemon for most of his life, he had never fully acclimatized to smoke and fire like those who had lived near volcanoes all of their lives. He hated to admit it, but there were just some things that genetics wouldn’t allow him to overcome without the aid of some serious science or magic. Besides, there was a battle on-going. He can talk to her later, after all three matches or at least when the smoke clears.
Meanwhile, Hyperion was very quietly positioning himself behind the Bronzong while he was still in the enormous and thick cloud of smoke. He was using the natural camouflage that his black scales afforded him.
Once he was in position, he braced himself and then released a powerful stream of whitish-blue flames right at the Bronzong very quickly. At the same time, he released a massive blade of air from his wings as well which took a parallel path as the flames but never touched the flames itself, though the flames were hot enough to superheat the air the blades used, making it much more damaging than usual.
As far as Hyperion was concerned, he wanted to end this fight as soon as possible. Why? Because he could already hear faint sirens coming closer due to all the smoke around the battlefield.
{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Battle Summary: Hyperion tries to sneak up behind the Bronzong, and then launches an Inferno and an Air Slash. Inferno burns the target if it hits and Air Slash has a 30% flinch chance.
