Stellar listened carefully to what the Nurse is saying. Beside her is Aria, the Aggron curling up on the ground and if one look closer, the steel type could be considered snuggling near to Stellar's side.
The Nurse quickly shuffled away, resuming her other duties, having finished the checkup on Stellar's Pokemon. Aria was the last to be checked, because she's the largest and the checkup had to be done outside the room.
'And the whole time,' Stellar thought, 'The Nurse looked so afraid.' The woman could take an educated guess; the Nurse could be afraid that someone of Stellar's stature couldn't control the Aggron well, thus endangering their lives.
"Looks like you're clear to go," Stellar leaned down and hugged her Aggron, resting her cheek on the Pokemon cold metal. How soothing. "My day is not done yet, so...." Aria disappeared into her pokeball with a gentle grunt, and Stellar balanced herself, before standing up.
The woman walked back into the Pokemon Centre. How was Etta doing? They had to separate for a moment for the other Nurses to clean Etta's injury and check their Pokemon. She looked around, searching for her friend.

The nurse didn't buy her fairy tale about a manic-depressive Gulpin that had unwittingly got itself caught in a post office box, but it was Etta's story and she was sticking to it. She sat criss-crossed on the check-up bed, refusing to be checked in, to be put in a hospital gown, to recline peacefully, as the nurse applied a balm to her arms and rebandaged them.
"We parted as friends," Etta explained loftily. "I convinced him to go and win back his girl. He's all fired up about it now. If there's a wedding, I'm invited . . . How do you think they'll manage that? The 'kiss the bride' part?"
"I don't know," the nurse deadpanned, and Etta supposed that she seemed a bit put-out.
Cleave had been looked over, and was said to be in tip-top condition. Charmed all the nurses, the little scoundrel. He was probably still out in the lobby somewhere with a small entourage.
"The doctor should look at you," the nurse insisted, still deadpan, looking down at Etta's shins. They were bruised.
"Totally unnecessary," Etta insisted, with a shrug. "It would be a waste of effort. I just need a nice rest, and I can get that at my hotel."
All this poking around and fretting over her was getting to be very exhausting, and Etta just wanted to trot off somewhere and take a breather. She bounced up from the bed as soon as the nurse seemed to be done.
"Thank you. Goodnight."
"Take this topical prescription-"
"I've got lotion. Night-night."
She swung out the room, helping the door to slide along shut behind her. She put her jacket back on, the poison neutralized. It had left a pretty gnarly looking wear in the fabric, but Etta thought it gave the garment character.
Now, let's get out of here before the doctors start descending~
Etta, after all, was horrible at being a patient.
She wandered around until she rediscovered the lobby, and sure enough, Cleave was dazzling a small squad of nurses with his charms and good graces. Etta smirked.
"Hey, Cleave! Bid adieu to your new girlfriends! It's time to head back."
While Cleave began and lengthy parting ceremony of bows and clasped hands, Etta surveyed the lobby, wondering where Stell was.
"There's a war, and the price of fighting is loneliness. There's a war, and people died. There's a war, and nothing is left."
It really was the flurry of claps that finally drew Stellar's attention to the correct side of the lobby, where she noticed Etta and an extremely charming Kirlia also known as Cleave. Honestly, the whole situation amuses her too much. The nurses look so charmed by the Pokemon, and Stellar could tel from slight personal experience that they have every right to, considering Cleave's antics. He really will make an extremely fine Gallade.
"Etta," Stellar called out, waving her hand a little. Then, the woman looked down for a moment, and soon enough, what she had expected came to her view. Her Leafeon trotted up to her side, shyly hiding behind Stellar's knees.
Stellar had sent Spring out earlier to get some sunlight, and had known once the Leafeon realized Stellar went back into the Centre, the Pokemon would follow her in too. The Grass type nudged Stellar's knees slightly with her nose, purring.
The woman patted Spring for a moment, then walked up to meet Etta. "...how was your check up?" she asked, worry in her eyes. What if it's severe? Amputation was a possibility, wasn't it, if Etta got hit by too much acid. "..how was Cleave?" Was it worse than they thought? Etta looked fine enough, though, and Cleave looks....as charming as usual.
It's just, Stellar had been so used to expect the worse outcome first.
Behind her, Spring blinked at the Kirlia. The Leafeon reached out to sniff Cleave for a moment, only to shy back at the last minute, continue hiding behind Stellar's legs.

After quite a few more farewells than was strictly necessary, Cleave waltzed over to Etta's side, and with a more solemn demeanor, touched her hand.
"No worries," she said with a shrug. "Just gotta keep it bandaged."
"Etta!"
She looked up to see Stell and a Leafeon crossing the lobby toward them, the Leafeon winding its way around Stell's legs and looking rather shy.
She's got a lot of great Pokemon.
". . . How was you check-up? . . . How was Cleave?"
It bothered Etta that Stell looked so worried. It brought back that flustered feeling from Mt. Pyre, and when all the nurses had been fussing over her (until Cleave had led them all away). She kept it from getting the best of her, this time, managing to keep her reply mostly nonchalant.
She waved a hand dismissively. "I'm gonna be fine. I've just gotta put lotion on and keep my arms bandaged for a couple of weeks. And Cleave, well - he's Cleave. He leads a charmed life."
She really didn't know what she was going to do when he was a Gallade. Usually she could just pick him up and drag him away when he got to be just too much, but soon he would probably be taller than her.
Cleave took a measured step toward the Leafeon, careful not to come too close too soon, and greeted her quietly.
"There's a war, and the price of fighting is loneliness. There's a war, and people died. There's a war, and nothing is left."
Stellar can't help but get that nagging feeling that Etta is playing off how serious her injuries are. Inside Stellar's mind, though, she's questioning herself; how much of these instincts she's judging people with are accurate anymore? People are different here. Maybe Etta is truly not that injured. Not trying to look strong because looking weak is not an option. Was Stellar right, or wrong?
"...I see," she finally chose to reply. Don't pry anymore. She doesn't want to drive Etta away. Now that they have reached...Lilycove, is it? Stellar felt that her mission is done. Getting to a safe place for the day. It kinda irks her that she still thinks of this so systematically, but it had always worked. Or at least, worked most of the time.
But what to do now that everything is completed. Leave?
"Well, thank goodness everything is alright," she said, but she could feel herself getting flustered, "W-where are you heading after this?" Although there was sun earlier, it must be around evening now, and it's going to be night soon.
Around their legs, another scene is playing out. The Leafeon eyes widened, seeing Cleave stepped nearer, and quite nearly jumped back into her pokeball as if to hide from the Kirlia. But Spring remembers her duty, to protect Stellar, because she's eternally grateful to the trainer that had saved the two siblings Pokemon, so the Leafeon peeks out again shyly, blinking her lashes at Cleave.
The Grass type takes a deep breath, and courageously stepped forward, bobbing back her head in reply to Cleave's greeting.

"...I see," Stell said at last, but Etta got the feeling that she wasn't entirely convinced.
Her arms felt completely fine now, but she had a feeling they would be sore when she woke up the next morning. Other than that, it seemed she had escaped the ordeal without any lasting damage. Just as long as she kept the wounds covered, to prevent infection.
"Well, thank goodness everything is alright . . . W-where are you heading after this?"
Etta smiled a bit at the slight stutter that worked its way into Stell's speech. It seemed she wasn't the only one who felt a bit off-kilter in the midst of the whole situation. More than anything, she just wanted to go somewhere that she could relax and not worry about what was going to happen next, and she was sure that Stell wanted the same thing.
"Well, I was headed back to my hotel," Etta explained. "Hey, there's an idea. I've got a double suite booked - why don't you come and stay with us? We can order room service and chill out."
Meanwhile, having heard Etta's invitation to Stell, Cleave told Spring of the view from their room and the amenities the hotel had for Pokemon that he thought she might enjoy, like the indoor garden on the ground floor.
"There's a war, and the price of fighting is loneliness. There's a war, and people died. There's a war, and nothing is left."
Stellar has half the mind to leave as soon as Etta tells where she is heading for the night. As long as she knows Etta is safe, Stellar is satisfied, and thus, could move one with her usual plans. Like, for instance, searching for a nice tree to sleep in. It doesn't look like it will rain, and she wanted to camp out tonight. She wondered how the stars look like in Hoenn. Do they sparkle as bright?
..until Etta invited her.
Stellar blinked, unable to keep surprise from her face. Hotel is a luxury, especially in war. It's best to go cheap, after all, and save money for far more important stuff, like bullets for guns and food for survival. Or it's better to save money for everything except luxury, because money is good for bribing, to live and not die.
"...I don't want to burden you or anything," she shuffled her feet shyly. "Hotels are extremely expensive, aren't they?" She briefly wondered about the pricing of hotels here. Are they as expensive as the one back home, ore at a more reasonable pricing? She can't help but be curious, though. The last hotel she was in was back when she was far too young to remember, and since she got involved in the war so young there was no way for her to even book a room in a hotel. She can barely remember anything inside a hotel anymore, more like from pictures from a book, or magazine.
Below them, the Leafeon listened to Cleave curiously, a light blush on her cheeks. She murmured her thanks to the Kirlia of how he's so thoughtful to explain to her so clearly, her paws shuffling to mimic Stellar's nervous habit. It's only fitting, since Stellar did raise her since she was only an Eevee.

"...I don't want to burden you or anything. Hotels are extremely expensive, aren't they?"
Etta wasn't exactly sure how to answer that question - because usually fares were not that bad at all, for an averaged size room of good quality, but the hotel she was staying at right then was far from average . . .
She laughed a little. "Don't worry about it. Like I said, the room's pretty big, and already paid for." It was kind of a long story. She would probably end up having to explain later, once Stell had seen the place. "And I wouldn't mind the company. Uh, unless you're already planning to stay somewhere else . . ."
Etta didn't think that was the case, since Stell was so knew in Hoenn, but she couldn't be sure. And Stell still seemed so nervous, that she didn't want to push her into anything.
"But you know," Etta hinted, "this place I'm at has some pretty amazing room service. And it's prepaid~"
Yeah, she would definitely need to tell Stell about how she'd ended up at that hotel.
Hoping to make her feel more comfortable, while their trainers discussed lodging, Cleave asked Spring about how long she and Stell had been together.
"There's a war, and the price of fighting is loneliness. There's a war, and people died. There's a war, and nothing is left."
Stellar shuffled her feet regardless. It is entirely a new experience. In this case, they weren't staying together for survival; it's for fun. Which is a rare and unusual thing, really. It had been so long.
"I usually stay outdoors, regardless of region," she confessed. She's being more honest to Etta now; if only to try and win the other woman's trust. She's waiting for Etta to realize how...heavy everything is, how tainted she is, how unsightly Stellar is.
("But you know, this place I'm at has some pretty amazing room service. And it's prepaid~")
Stellar felt a slight blush rose on her cheeks. It does sound tempting, luxury and all. "Well, if you don't mind...." Briefly, she wondered if Etta is actually the daughter of a very wealthy family. Maybe? It's possible, then it would explain why she could stay in a hotel....though there are other possibilities as well. "...so which hotel?" She doesn't know any hotel around here, so she's really waiting for Etta to guide her.
The Leafeon below shyly replied to Cleave's question. Stellar had saved her and her sister, she said, from this really mean kids who tried to drown her. Or maybe force her to evolve into a Vaporeon, she don't really know. They have been together for a while, but not as long as the 'veterans' in Stellar's team.
The grass type flicked her tail, tilting her head before mewing, asking how long Cleave and Etta are together too.

"...so which hotel?" Stell asked.
Etta put her hands in her pockets and laughed a bit sheepishly, starting to lead their little group toward the doors. "Uh . . . The Parisian, actually." She shrugged a little, still feeling incredibly silly - The Parisian was renowned around the world for being one of the most luxurious hotel chains. "It's kind of ridiculous. My friend booked the suite for me and had it paid for by the firm he works for. I used to work there too, but now I just moonlight from time to time . . . He's always doing stuff like that. Blindly pouring the firm's money on things."
She had printed out the map he sent her and followed it through Lilycove, not even noticing what part of town she was in until she reached the address and looked up at The Parisian in all its splendor. She and gone and checked in, been personally showed to her suite, and then she had called her friend and chewed him out jovially for ten minutes.
Then she had showered, taken a long nap, and went out to Mt. Pyre, where everything had happened.
"It isn't far from here," Etta explained as they neared the doors. "I might have some change for a taxi, though, since I bet we're all pretty beat."
Cleave frowned upon hearing what had happened to Spring, but she quickly asked about his partnership with Etta, so he reluctantly moved on.
He cheerfully explained that he had fallen on hard times in Saffron City, and that in his daily travels he had encountered Etta and discovered her to be a "true gentlewoman." They had a few adventures together and then decided to partner up, and Etta had promised to help him evolve into a Gallade.
"There's a war, and the price of fighting is loneliness. There's a war, and people died. There's a war, and nothing is left."
Stellar had hoped that the hotel name would ring a bell in her head, but nothing comes to mind. Expected, of course, but unnerving all the same. So, the Parisian, huh? It must be an extremely good hotel, since Etta sounded rather sheepish about it.
"You have a very nice friend," Stellar remarked warmly, following Etta. It had been hard keeping friendships back then, since you never know if you are friends with the right person or not, or if they'll even live till the next time you see them. Briefly, she wondered what kind of person Etta's friend was, but quickly dropped that thought. No need to ponder over that.
Upon Etta's suggestion for a taxi, Stellar became flustered. "It's alright if it's not far from here," she said, not wanting Etta to waste her money, "I'm not that beat. If you want to, though, I'll pay. It's my fault."
Outside the pokemon center, the sunset had cast a beautiful glow over Lilycove. It made the town much more magical than usual, and the orange tinge present across the surface of the ocean is utterly breathtaking. Stellar observed her surroundings, but not with the sharp wariness she's always using, instead, with the soft appreciation of landscapes still intact, slowly following Etta's lead.
Both Pokemon had followed their trainers from behind, chatting amiably. Spring let out soft mews that sounded very much like her version of giggles, listening to Cleave's story. The Leafeon shyly placed one paw on Cleave's hand, and wished him luck. He will be a great Pokemon that will protect Etta awesomely, she commented.

"You have a very nice friend."
Etta chuckled. "More like, conniving and overly-willing to spend the firm's money . . . But he's an OK guy, in his own way."
When they had first met, she had quickly become determined to avoid him. He was kind of creepy . . . narrow eyes and a certain obliviousness to personal space. But when they had eventually been partnered up on a series of cases, she began to detect that he had a certain animosity toward only the higher-ups in the firm, and that he in fact cared more about his fellow investigators than he was willing to let on. That and his sense of humor had allowed her to finally become friends with him.
Stell offered to pay the cab fare.
"Nope. Since the hotel's taken care of, I have a lot of extra money," Etta told her. "I've got the cab." She thought for a minute, then gave Stell a playful nudge. "Live it up a little, OK? This is going to be fun."
They burst out into the warm air of the city at sunset, and Etta took a deep breath. She could faintly smell the ocean, and a bakery down the block. Unlike most cities, Lilycove generally took on a lazy atmosphere at this time of the evening, and she had always adored it. It was the sort of place where children could still play until sundown.
She stepped over to the curb and hailed a cab.
Cleave thanked Spring for her kind words, and told her how happy he was to have met her, and that they were talk more at the hotel. He then returned to his Pokeball for the duration of the cab ride.
***
"Um, yeah, so here it is," Etta said, climbing out of the cab about five minutes later.
It was a huge building, with two tall towers and one shorter structure, with a large circular front drive and a veritable garden sprawling in front of the main entrance. Sky bridges connected the two main towers, and the whole structure was composed of glass and polished stone. It was slightly set apart from the other buildings in the area - a luxurious oasis in the middle Lilycove's relatively modest architectural styles.
"We have a suite near the top of the western tower."
"There's a war, and the price of fighting is loneliness. There's a war, and people died. There's a war, and nothing is left."
Stellar gawked at the size, the appearance of the hotel. This is not just luxurious, it's downright magnificent as well. It's the kind of building that makes you believe in the existence of old castles and princesses from fairy tales, that this world is not so grim and dark and there's a beautiful ray of sunshine complete with the happy ever after at the end of a story.
"This is amazing!" she breathe out. Beside her, the recently re-released from her pokeball Spring shook her whole body, stretching out all her muscles. Stellar was forced to return the Leafeon back to her ball just now because of the cab, but she released the Pokemon back out again quickly as soon as they got out of the car. Spring looked around, eyes wide at the building size. Then, she looked around, hoping to see Cleave, having liked the Kirlia a lot.
Stellar took out her wallet, intent on paying Etta back, no matter what she had said. "Here," she took an amount and handed it to Etta. "It's only right," she insisted, "since you invited me to stay in such...a grand place." Stellar looked back at the building again, an almost childish excitement on her face.
This is so exciting! But then, she saw the bandages on Etta's arms once more, and she felt guiltier than ever. Maybe this wouldn't have happened if she didn't meet Etta at all?

"This is amazing," Stell breathed, and Etta smiled to herself, happy that the girl's spirits seemed to be lifting.
While Stell was admiring the architecture, she tapped the release buttons on both Cleave and Eclair's pokeballs. Eclair wasted no time, making a beeline for the hotel entrance, no doubt on her way back up to their suite, where she could mercilessly exploit the myriad of viewing option on the "Pokevision" set.
Cleave swiveled gracefully around on one foot until he discovered that Spring was again present, and then waltzed over to her side and inquired politely if she thought she might like the hotel.
Etta watched as Stell, still looking very excited and enamored by the hotel, dug some money out of her wallet and offered it to her. "Here . . . it's only right . . . since you invited me to stay in . . . such a grand place."
Etta chuckled, waving a dismiss hand out the proffered bills and refused to accept them. "Stell, I've told you, this is at no expense to me at all. Why don't you spend that money on Spring, or something? They have groomers, and a whole Pokemon spa. I just want you to have fun. We're going to go upstairs, and order an absurd amount of food, and I don't know, have girl talk or watch movies or something, OK?"
She took Stell by the arm with two hands, leaning toward her with a determined expression. "We are going. To have. Fun. Got it?"
"There's a war, and the price of fighting is loneliness. There's a war, and people died. There's a war, and nothing is left."
This is really, really nice of Etta. It's making Stellar more and more self-conscious of herself every minutes, which really sucks, in a way. She was startled when Etta released her Pokemon, but let out a soft sigh when she realized it was just Cleave and Eclair. "Nobody ever invited me to these kind of thing before," she confessed to Etta quietly, "I...don't actually know what to do."
There, she said it. Besides spending her money on all things Pokemon related, Stellar have zero idea how this stuff is suppose to work. Eating together is still find, but girl talk? Watching movies? There was never time to lavish on these kind of stuff back then, and it's backfiring on her now.
She froze up a little when Etta took her arm so determinedly. "O-okay?" It feels as though as Etta's grip on her burns, and briefly, Stellar wonders why. Isn't it suppose to be the opposite? It's Etta who got injured after all. But there was that phantom sensation, that Etta's cheeriness was like a bright, bright light that she have never seen shining on a person's face for so long, so free.
Spring jumped too, nearly a feet into the air when Cleave and Eclair came out of their ball. She put on a defensive stance, much like most of Stellar's other Pokemon's first instinct to do so, but her stance is noticeably more wobbly, and her whole body is trembling. She nearly let out a squeak as well, when Eclair rushed past to the hotel's entrance.
Only then she noticed Cleave. She nodded slowly, shyly at his question, commenting that it's really pretty cool to live in such a wonderful place. It's very big.
