After several hours in which Vincent spent his time relaxing and trying to get his head on straight during what could only be described as the craziest mountain trip in search of a pokemon he had ever had. He had experienced everything one person would not expect to be associated with a mountain, from demonically possessed Skiddos (at least in appearance), angry bird gangs, evil Timburrs, rambo cleffas...The works
Yet Vincent wasn't giving up: he had to find the pokemon he was looking for. It was imperative to his research that he do so. Yet despite all his best efforts thus far he had not even a glimpse of the rare pokemon in question. It did make sense in a way, considering it was described as "rare" for a reason, but it almost seemed comical that there wasn't even some kind of evidence that he was on its trail or that it even existed. It almost seemed silly in a way that it had taken as much time and effort as it had.
With his Pokemon in tow, Vincent once again headed out into the wilderness in search of answers...

...It was another builder. This one was in an even more interesting situation than before.
As Vincent neared a short bridge over a gap in the pathway, he saw it seemingly guarding the bridge, eyeing the professor with a menacing glare. It was a Timburr, and it was very obvious that it was guarding the bridge. The look on its face gave the professor all he needed to know: A battle was inevitable. In a smooth motion Vincent reached for the ideal pokemon for the job and tossed the pokeball out at a comfortable distance for the battle.
Out came Solosa, a female Solosis, ready and waiting. While it was difficult to get a grasp of what her emotions were due to her strange nature as a pokemon, Vincent got the feeling she was ready and willing to battle: perhaps even moreso than him. Several seconds after the deployment, the battle began.
Solosa was the slower of the two pokemon, and unfortunately it showed: The Timburr went first, using Bulk Up to begin the battle on what it believed was an optimal note to increase its offense and defense. It wasn't a bad strategy by any means, but it certainly was a mistake. While Solosa was not fast, she did have the one weakness that was best for dealing with the Timburr in question:
Psychic powers.
Specifically, attacking it with a powerful use of Psychic at it in the form of a strange, wavelike blast. Vincent had to admit, while Solosis did not appear to have much in terms of physical presence, they certainly backed it up with some sheer psychic power: a single attack was enough to completely KO the Timburr, leaving it lying unconcious on the ground. Vincent almost felt guilty: he didn't want to leave it lying there for a predator to kill it, so with a bit of work he quietly moved it over to a nearby bush for it to hide in before continuing across the bridge.

Well dammit.
Literally no more than two steps onto the bridge, and Vincent found yet ANOTHER enemy jump up at the other end of the bridge: Another wild pokemon that the professor was more familiar with than he would have liked: A Vullaby. An annoying, small, bird pokemon with a mean attitude and a penchant for forming something akin to Greaser gangs in Vincent's past experience. While he did have a pokemon ideally suited for dealing with such an annoying bird, Vincent knew the rest of his team needed experience. So rather than deploy Neil to deal with this particular threat, the professor deployed another pokemon he believed could handle it:
Byte, A Gibble.
A rather voracious Gible at that. Literally the moment he jumped out of his pokeball he spent several seconds gnawing on a plank on the bridge. Thankfully, the Vullaby didn't particularly find it too threatening and didn't get a sneak attack in, but it still spoke of Byte's somewhat ADD nature that he noticed his opponent second.
Even so, he was fast enough he got the first attack in: with a wave of his tiny claws, he activaed Sandstorm and with his powerful control over the ability created a localized sandstorm over the bridge, himself and the Vullaby. The Vullaby responded with a use of Air Slash, which, thankfully missed due to Byte's somewhat impressive ability to evade in the tiny sandstorm due to Sand Veil. The Opposing Pokemon did not take any damage from the sandstorm due to his rather sturdy Overcoat that kept it safe, but that did not keep it safe from the Gible's followup move:
Dragon Rush.
Claws and teeth flailing, Byte launched itself at the Vullaby and bit down, clinging to it with its rather impressive maw as tiny claws on its hands and feet flailed about. After a couple seconds of this brutal onslaught, the vullaby fell over, clearly unconcious. With an angry Gible stuck to its head no less. When the sandstorm finally subsided, Vincent quickly moved over and with some effort managed to separate the voracious byte from the Vullaby by waving a plank he stole from the bridge in front of its face. With the Gible detached, the Professor managed to calm it down by letting it chew on the wooden plank while holding it for a few moments before returning it to its pokeball.
In the future, Perhaps Vincent should have been more careful about deploying his Gible against things that were big enough to fit enough of it in its mouth to be of grave concern. Still, thankfully the Vullaby was still alive (yet beaten up quite badly) as Vincent continued on his journey.

...Well, THAT wasn't expected.
Not long after Vincent had left the bridge behind, he encountered another pokemon he was familiar with: a small, pinkish pokemon that although cute Vincent had seen to be quite an evil little bugger if it wanted to be: Cleffa. It didn't look like it really wanted a fight. Maybe it wasn't so hostile after all, but it did look like it wanted to fight for some odd reason. With some hesitance, Vincent tossed forth the pokeball containing Mina, his Eevee.
And the results were, well, very surprising. The instant Mina and the Cleffa locked eyes, Vincent almost saw an immense hatred for one another immediately become present: almost like the viciousness one might see between two dragons. A standoff seemed to take place, with Mina's fur poofing up almost like that of a feline angrily, ears folded back and a noise that sounded so angry and fierce that Vincent was surprised it was Mina that was making it. The cleffa simply sat there, its tiny hands held up in what almost looked like some kind of boxing stance. Several tense moments passed before both pokemon charged forward, opening with two simultaneous attacks. Mina with Double-edge, the Cleffa with Pound.
The battle proceeded very quickly, with Mina simply using double-edge tackles and paw swipes repeatedly, while the Cleffa just kept using pound. As brutally as the battle started it was finished, a very exhausted looking Mina standing over the now unconscious Cleffa. With a slight huff sound, Mina turned away from its now defeated opponent and strode back twoard Vincent, pawing at his leg rather firmly: a clear indicator of a desire of affection.
Vincent quietly tossed a pokeball at the Cleffa before picking up Mina and giving her a gentle petting, eliciting a sigh of contentment and something that resembled purring from the small pokemon. There was no indication from the Eevee's behavior that anything as brutal as what just transpired had just occurred, leaving Vincent as baffled as he was amazed as he waited for the pokeball to confirm the catch.

Vincent let out an almost familiar sigh of relief when he heard the oh-so-familiar click and beep of a successful capture. While he wasn't entirely sure why he had elected to capture the Cleffa instead of attempt to simply KO it, an unconcious part of him thought that it would be useful later. It did take a few minutes to calm down the clingy Mina, who both mewled and growled angrily whenever the professor attempted to put her down to place her back in the pokeball.
Afterwhich, however, Vincent did finally manage to get her back in her pokeball before he was faced with another dilema: a split in the path. One part of the path led down the mountainside, the other up. Down was likely a no go in Vincent's mind: the lower he went, the more lush the ecology would be. The pokemon he was looking for was naturally very reclusive. That meant the more other pokemon that were around the less likely it would be for it to want to be around. So with that in mind, Vincent elected to take the high road (in both a literal and poetic sense) to continue his journey.
He could only hope he found the pokemon he was looking for soon...

As Vincent began his long trek up the path, he was very suddenly greeted with a rumble below his feet: At first it was a simple vibration, but as time passed it quickly grew in strength and ferocity. By thirty seconds in Vincent finally found the source of the gentle rumble: or rather, it found him.
A group of five geodudes and three graveler rumbled down the mountainside roughly twenty or so feet up the path. While the Graveler and two of the geodudes kept moving on, three of the Geodude landed on the path with a heavy thud, quietly uncurling themselves to reveal their strange yet menacing features. It didn't look like Vincent was getting past without a fight.
It looked to be some kind of triple battle, so Vincent needed to pick the order of his pokemon carefully: he had the advantage of being able to initiate it at his time of choosing, so taking a moment to decide the order of his pokemon was absolutely essential. After a moment of consideration, the professor deployed his pokemon. First up was Ein, his slowpoke: a water/psychic type with good defensive capabilities and typing to deal with the pokemon. Next up was Byte, his gible: a dragon ground type that could take advantage of Geodudes unusual weakness to ground attacks. Finally was Samantha, his Skiddo: a grass type with good enough power and typing to break through Geodude's considerable defenses. The three pokemon deployed, Vincent started the battle with his orders:
"Sam, Horn Leech! Byte, Dig! Ein, Water Pulse!"
Vincent wasn't holding back: he wanted this battle to end as quickly as possible despite the somewhat slow nature of two of his three pokemon. The first Pokemon to act was Samantha: charging forward, she quickly crashed horns-first into the nearest Geodude, her horns glowing a strange green color as they became infused with grass-type power. The Geodude itself responded with Rollout, crashing into the Skiddo's horns while rolling. Unfortunately, as the rollout had only just begun, there was not enough momentum to turn back the force of the Skiddo's blow, and the geodude's rolling was stopped short before it was promptly pushed off the side of a cliff with rather impressive force: it had already been unconcious by the time it reached that point. The Skiddo itself returned to a safe distance from the cliff after the impressive show of force.
Next up was in the center: Ein versus the geodude. The Geodude went first rather surprisingly, indeed indicating just how terribly slow Ein was as it attacked with Rock Throw, which connected...But it was nearly impossible to tell how much damage Ein had taken due to his lack of reaction. It almost seemed like it had not done much at all. In a rather leasurely fashion, the Slowpoke then fired back with a powerful, circular pulse of water that crashed into the Geodude. This too, like the attack before it, was a knockout punch and left the geodude unconcious on the ground.
The final duel was between Byte and the last Geodude. While it was evident to tell that Byte wanted to, well, bite down on the rock-type pokemon, it obeyed Vincent's command without hesitation, quickly digging underground with surprising speed for having such little arms and legs. It was a good thing that he had, too, because this final geodude had a rather nasty trick up its sleeve:
Self-destruct.
Charging forward, the Geodude stopped short as its body filled with a mysterious energy. Moments later, it exploded with enough force that even Vincent, who was standing a considerable distance away, was knocked clean off his feet. Unfortunately for the geodude, its target (Byte) was completely underground by the time it exploded. While Ein was hit by the blast, he seemed okay as he was only hit by the edge of it. Chances are he would simply heal away the damage back in his pokeball due to Regenerator: When Byte popped back up out of the ground, he was greeted with the sight of no enemy pokemon...and because the battle was over promptly zipped over to Ein and attached himself to Ein's tail. Vincent knew why this was: Slowpoke naturally secreted a strange, sweet substance from their tail, and unfortunately Byte could not really help himself if he was still excited and he smelled that substance. Hence why the dragon pokemon then started Biting down on the slowpokes tail, with the latter slowpoke not particularly caring about the massive mawed mini dragon chewing on its tail.
After several minutes of trying to coerce Byte to let go of the Slowpoke's tail, Vincent managed to convince him to let go by utilizing the fact that Byte himself was rather ticklish, and tickled the small dragon pokemon until it let go before holding it for a few moments to help it calm down. When Byte was no longer in "Nibble Mode", Vincent returned him to his pokeball before checking Ein for any injuries from the Gible. When he was relieved to find none (or they had already regenerated somehow) the professor returned the slowpoke to its pokeball before deciding to take a break.
When he was done resting, he would continue his trek up the mountain in search of the rare pokemon he sought...
