[11am, rainy]
It had been a major discovery.
Two days ago, Vincent had found something on a somewhat standard dig expedition. Something that was quite extraordinary and rare. Something so odd that many of his attempts to research it via basic search methods had dug up nearly nothing. there was very little if anything clear that came up on it. It was as if the strange stone he had found was some kind of Anomaly, something that shouldn't have existed. It very clearly did however, and that alone was enough reason for Vincent to attempt more research and another dig: he needed answers, and perhaps he could find them by returning to the same place he had dug last time to find the object.
It was a strange, small ruin, enclosed enough that it was protected from the rain: in the past it had likely been some kind of dwelling, perhaps to contain the strange stone that Vincent had found in it last time. Of course, that was just a guess, so it was impossible to tell if his hypothesis was true or not. But Vincent had returned in hope that more digging might unearth some answers.
So, setting up his various devices, he began the scanning and digging process, hoping to unearth more secrets that might answer the numerous questions he still had...

The first finding was...Well, not what Vincent had hoped for.
As his scanner went about doing its buisness, well, scanning, it picked up an object that most definately was not unique, though he couldn't exactly tell what it was at the time. Once the scanner stopped and the professor moved it out of the way, he quietly got to work in the usual careful, calm and slow manner. Inch by inch he quietly dug and brushed the dirt away, and soon he eventually unearthed part of the object: it appeared to be made of some kind of porceline, but it was impossible to tell what it was.
Several minutes later and it was confirmed. The item was indeed something rare: an ancient vase, to be specific. However, at times knowledge was indeed a terrible burden, and the professor was indeed burdend with terrible knowledge at this point. As he looked over the unusually deep shaped Jar, Vincent happened to think he knew what the pot was before even looking at it.
It was an ancient spitoon.
Vincent wanted no part of that kind of thing, knowing full well that while it would fetch a fine price to a collector he would have to haul it back himself. Worse, this vase smelled AWFUL. That meant he would have to clean it.
No. Just No.
Vincent quietly put the vase outside as far away from his digging site as was convenient and hoped the rain would somehow wash it away as he resumed his scanning of the area, again hoping for something interesting to appear...

It was another energy signature.
Not more than after five minutes after he had discarded the ancient spittoon, another object came up on the scanner. this object was almost identical to the first mysterious "stone": strange high density, mysterious energy signature and odd pattern on the scanner. Vincent quickly worked to move the scanner out of the way before he set to work, clearing away debris and dirt. Soon after it was followed by a thick layer of mud: the rain had sunk into the ground and made the dirt below the sand a heavy and waterlogged mess. Having to use more "elbow grease" in his techniques and foregoing the standard brushing techniques designed to clean away drier dirt and sand, Vincent took the most amount of care he could as he attempted to unearth the object.
Eventually, his work was rewarded, and in his hand Vincent held another one of the mysterious stones. While this one held the same general shape as the previous one, it was different in color, and it did not seem to have any sort of additional mass stuck to it like the previous stone (which had required cleaning in order to be analyzed).
Vincent didn't hesitate: this was his goal, to find objects such as this so he could study them. Quickly packing up his things and once again taking notes on the site, he hurried back to his lab to analyze this new stone to see what answers he could find...
