Oh, it all feels so good! The lights, the buzz, the excitement--all of it is pure energy and it crackles over Charlie's body and it feels so, so good. She knows that in a few day's time the city will lose its touch and the neon will stop dazzling her, but right now she's drinking in everything she can. People are hustling and bustling around her; the streets are filled and yet it's one in the morning. Now this is night life.
She jogs through a sea of oddities--teenagers dressed in Poke-lookalike garb, a group of fire wielders with a gaggle of watchers creating a tight circle around them, a man selling "fortunes, fortunes, your heart's desire!" She runs by all of it and the world becomes a blur around her. Glowing words are morphed and spackled in the haze of faint rain. Her sneakers slap against the asphalt and kick water up on the backs of her bare legs and she's sure some people are looking, but these people have all seen worse, and so she is forgotten as she runs and runs and runs.
Eventually she is forced to stop so she stands hunched over with her hands on her knees and she breathes out, sucks in choking breaths that taste like street grime and wet asphalt. Her smile is faint on her face, but it's still there. Sweat licks at her limbs, but the light rainfall cools down her heated skin. When she catches her breath, she straightens and looks upward. Above her read the words Rainy Daze in a pretty cursive pink and red font. Always up for an adventure, she shrugs her shoulders and walks in through the front door.
It's apparent what type of world she's walked into once she steps over the threshold. There is a line in front of her and she nearly runs smack into the back of a stranger. He turns to her and gives her a friendly smile. "One's always the golden time. Either people are leaving for the night or they've just left their house. Line'll be a mile long in about five minutes." She nods and peers over his shoulder. The dull thrum of music manages to make its way all the way to the front door and Charlie grins as she feels it reverberate under her feet.
She flashes her ID to the bouncer and steps into a room filled with dancing bodies. Bodies of all shapes and sizes and colors. The lights are dim and there's neon paint everywhere. People have squirt guns in their hands (courtesy of a small table in the corner) and neon colors stream out along the dance floor. The music is hypnotic and perfectly encompasses the feeling Charlie gets from seeing such a multitude of colors at once. It's breathtaking and hypnotic and she immediately steps into the throng of bodies and starts moving her hips. And although she knows she's awful at dancing, she really can't care less who's watching, because she's feeling these colors spin around her and the music work its way into her bones, and she feels free.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
(assuming I can join since the thread is labled "Open", if not, I can delete this no worries)
Yumi had been living in flash city ever since she arrived in Nue, but truth be told she'd never really explored the city. It wasn't exactly the top of her to do list, what with needing to find an apartment, a good daycare center for any of her young pokemon she wasn't ready to leave alone yet, and of course she had to find her way to work and a new breeder. Luckily enough both were easily fixed, what with Thomas helping her fly there one day, and Kuto, her old breeder, seeming to follow the crowd and move to Nue too. She'd have to ask her why one day. Seemed everyone had their reason for coming here.
For now though, Yumi finally had a day off. She had no plans to battle any gym leaders, or any plans to go hunting for new pokemon. She was in so many ways free, even if it was one AM by the time she finally got home from her last little hunt.
"Blegh...I'm not even tired." She groaned to herself as she wandered through the streets, her Sawk Ko-ken by her side as always. She had only just gotten up a few hours ago to make sure she'd be out and ready for the noctowls that only came out at night, but now she was left wide away and nothing to do in the early hours of the morning. At least nothing that swiftly came to mind. Still, it was hard not to enjoy even a simple walk at this hour. The red head sometimes wondered why people didn't stay awake at this hours rather than the day, she'd have cool and tranquill night over the harsh light of a sunny day anytime. Even with the neon lights of Flash city blaring down around her, it was oddly serene to have it all matched with a dark night sky above it all. With her walk seeming to continue with little to no aim other than killing time, the red head's attention was soon caught by blaring music coming from one of the nearby buildings.
"Rainy Daze..."
A slow forming smile was soon aimed at her buddy Ko-ken as she realized she had found a night club. She'd never really tried going to one before, and from the look he was getting alone, Ko-ken was unsure it would be a good idea to EVER try it, but still Yumi's eagerness to kill time, and try something new, won over. Refusing to enter himself, Ko-ken gestured to the general direction of their home, telling her he'd be on his way to their apartment while she had her fun. With the que luckily still somewhat short, it wasn't long before she was inside, marvelling at the chaos of the night club, her smile only growing larger, nearly swallowing up her face.
"Well...when in Rome!"
Grabbing a bucket of neon paint that had been lined up by the side, Yumi took a brief moment to give herself army style stripes under her eyes, chuckling as she caught herself in the reflective surface of one of the tables, adding some stripes and patterns to her midrift, giggling as the paintbrush she was using tickled her a little, making sure not to get any on her hands lest she swiftly regret her decision. Before long she was all neoned up, her hoodie wrapped around her waist by the arms and her midrift tanktop all that was left covering her upper half, mingling through the crowd and slowly getting into the motion of what most of the people here called dancing. Innevitably though, not used to how the whole night club atmosphere goes, she ended up bumping into someone, with a red ponytail much like her own, stumbling over her own feet as she swiftly turned to apologize.
"O-oh! Sorry! Didn't see you there.~"
NOTES
This isn't Yumi's usual scene, but I wanted a chance to RP with you, so here goes.
It only takes a few minutes of dancing to get completely splattered in neon paint. Charlie's eyes are half-lidded (just in case someone's aim goes wild) and her small scope of the club spins as she turns on her heels. Somehow she manages to get a squirt gun in her hand and she slows down in her spinning to shoot a stream of bright yellow paint on surrounding dancers. At first she shoots wildly and then she is pushed to the outer throng of the dance floor.
Then she can stop and catch her breath. It's almost as if these dancers make up a single entity. They are just a canvas and paint keeps drip-dropping over them, mimicking rolling kaleidoscope waves. So she raises her gun up and shoots, shoots, shoots; small spritz glance off of multiple people as they continue to shake and move. The air feels hot on her neck and she's still breathing hard, but her smile hasn't left her face. Her small creation is a yellow spiral that slowly disperses as the crowd inevitably shifts. Satisfied, she drops the squirt gun from her hands, enjoying herself too much to give a second thought as to the tripping hazard it might cause.
Her hands come out in front of her as she's suddenly knocked off balance. She stumbles, catches herself, and wheels around to face a red-headed girl with rather pristine neon markings on herself. She must have just come in, Charlie thinks and realizes the girl is saying something. Charlie leans in closer and manages to catch the words, "Didn't see you there--" and then they're jostled again by more dancers.
"No worries! It happens," Charlie yells over the music and laughs. Her grin widens and she grabs the girl by the wrist. "It's now or never," she says and plunges back into the fray. Charlie is already speckled with blues, greens, reds, oranges, well, every color of the rainbow and she wonders what she looks like with her long ponytail twirling through the air, her glowing limbs shaking in the air. "I can't even dance!" she says excitedly, but she's not even sure if her newfound partner has followed.
Ooc; I don't mind at all! I'd love to RP with ya. c;

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
Having forgotten about the near deafening music that would be drowning out her words, Yumi was glad the red head she bumped into knew just how loud to shout to be heard. She couldn't help but laugh through even her little accident, the whole atmosphere of this place sending sparks off in her brain she'd never really experienced before. There was a brief moment between the sparks she had to blush as she actually took a look at the girl, the red hair, the amazing body, top that with the neon and Yumi's cheeks were as red as her bangs under the paint. Before she could really even shake the thoughts away though, she found herself being tuged by the other girl, drawn straight into the center of the fray with a little scream as all the paint from every direction coated her in greens and blues and even a few reds here or there, screaming more with delight as she got some free space with her new dance partner, trying her best to meet the rhythm of the music in some way, barely even catching her newfound friends words above it.
"Me neither!" She screamed over the crowd, unable to stop herself laughing after almost every scentance she seemed to get out. "First time doing this thing!" Her body clearly showed it too, trying to make up moves to songs she had never heard before, and at the same time somehow trying to meet the motions of those around her, who, in her oppinion, were just jumping wildly and shooting some squirt guns. "Come here!"
She shouted that as she tugged in her dance partner by the wrist, spinning her a little before their bodies hit eachother, grinning wide as they danced so close for a brief moment that the paint on their clothes would mix. "Don't wanna lose my new dance partner!"
Her new dance partner can certainly move. Far better than Charlie can, at least. The girl tilts her chin up and finds herself being guided (jostled) by the crowd, slipping between shaking limbs and feeling the music flow through her bones. Then Charlie is suddenly snapped back into reality with wide open eyes; she spins, entire body yanked forward by a slight tug on her wrist.
The stranger tugs her harder than probably intended and Charlie stumbles forward, the neon on their skin smears and becomes a matching set, reminding Charlie of when she was in third grade and her teacher taught her to paint on one side of a piece of paper and then fold it in half to create a misshapen, unique copy. "Don't wanna lose my new dance partner!" The girl doesn't seem upset about the clumsiness so Charlie matches her grin and twines her fingers through the girl's hands.
"I'm not a very orthodox dancer," Charlie admits and it's childish, but she leans back and starts spinning. Her shoulders push people out of the way, but there's a communication of energy and command in the dance floor and they become an island with the ocean lapping around their shores. Charlie steps sideways over her feet and starts spinning, spinning, laughing, thinking, Arceus, this girl must think I'm crazy.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
The moment the other girl slips her fingers along her own Yumi had to work hard to supress a blush, not that it could even be identified under all the paint she was wearing. Still, she held the other woman's hand, chuckling at her dancing comment before follwing her steps, feeling like two kids spinning eachother around and laughing her head off as she joined in, seeing absolutely no reason not two as the two cleared a space for themselves on the dance floor, Yumi swiftly getting an idea as she tugged in the other girl again, only this time stepping to the side at the last moment.
"Neither am I!" She shouted just as the girl passed her so she would be heard, keeping one of her hands in a tango style twirl and spin, before bringing the other back to them, giggling as she'd have to catch her from behind in her arms to stop, a huge grin on her face all the while as the crowd found some space around the two again. "I never got your name by the way! I'm Yumi!"
Charlie blinks at her partner and watches with a slightly tilted head, fingers tightening as the other redhead suddenly stretches out in a twirl. She's completely transfixed, watching the girl's hand move to her back, the laughter bubble from her lips, the neon paint slipping in teardrop streaks down her skin as she sweats.
The air is hot and tense--the music suddenly a din in her ears. Her arms end up catching the redhead--Yumi, Charlie manages to hear--on her return and she rocks on the balls of her feet. The black lights make both sets of teeth glow and Charlie tries to burn the image of this girl in the back of her brain so she can look back on it when things are quiet and terse and she's craving that something more.
"Charlie. The name's Charlie." She surveys the rest of the dance floor and since the two of them have stopped spinning, people are pressing in again. For the most part, she releases Yumi, only letting her hand wander to clasp around her pinky finger--a strange habit, yes, she knows--to drag her (if she complies) to the edge of the dance floor. She knows people must be leaving, must be coming in, but there's no sense of time here. There's only the spinning neon paint and suddenly it feels never-ending and Charlie wants a breath of fresh air.
She wipes the sweat from her brow and narrows her eyes to look around the club. "There!" she says and points. A door that blatantly says DO NOT ENTER stands on the wall adjacent to them and Charlie is now sure that that's where they need to be. Regardless of whether or not Yumi decides to follow, Charlie is off, languid body calmly pushing open the door and slipping to the other side.
A dim light illuminates a mostly white metal staircase. Charlie looks up and places one hand on the railing.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
Yumi listened carefully as she heard the other girl begin to speak, only able to hear her name the second time round, repeating it quietly to herself to engrain it in her memory under the music, knowing she'd likely otherwise forget about it in the next second. The moment Charlie took her pinky and started leading the way, Yumi wasn't about to complain, keeping in the rather odd connection and following straight behind the other red head, working through the crowd and wondering where exactly they were goin. Yumi wasn't at all complaining of course, as much fun as she was having, she needed a little space herself. Charlie's company was just the icing on the cake.
"H-hey! Where are we going?" Even with the confusion of their destination, Yumi just kept on giggling, everything about the atmosphere makin her feel a little bit drunk on it, like that right level of cooky to make sure she didn't get stressed out by the crowd. Only catching the do not enter sign on her way through, Yumi hardly found enough reason to complain, climbing the stairs with the other red head and keeping hold of her hand as she helt the other banister, making her way up, thankful the music was dying down as they climbed. "God, you never realize how good quiet is till you get it back..."
She's glad her newfound friend decides to join her on whatever excursion Charlie's just managed to get them into. She takes the stairs slowly, enjoying the company, enjoying the feeling of adrenaline slowly dripping from her system. The higher they climb, the less music they hear. Eventually even the stairs stop shaking with every blast of the bass.
"Mmm, don't know what you've got 'til it's gone," Charlie agrees and then says, "It'll be the same with the music, too, though. The club. The night. In the morning you'll wake up and think, wow, I wish I could relive that night or find that one song, but you'll spend the rest of your life searching for that song. You'll find something close to it, but you'll never really get it back." Her red Converse sneakers slap down harder against the next step as they reach another door.
Charlie pushes it open without a second thought and she is greeted with light spatters of rain on her overheated skin. Her fingers twinge in Yumi's and she finds comfort once again in her companionship. "Weather's been crazy lately," she comments and she wishes for a moment that the city wasn't so bright; then maybe she could catch a glimpse of stars through the rolling gray clouds.
"Do you live here?" Charlie says, though she looks distractedly over the top of the roof, drinking in the expanse of the city all around them.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
Yumi had to admit what Charlie said held some goosd truth to it. She'd had moments where she was relieve to be out of a situation only to want to dive straight back in. The only thing that hadn't really even given her a flash of that sensation was her old job...a memory she didn't even honor my using the name of her old employers. With a focused shrug she pushed the thought off her shoulders, returning to the light atmosphere of the night and stepping out into the rain, sighing in even more relief as the trickling of rain cooled her skin, reaching back with her free hand and letting her red waterfall of hair loose, ruffling it a bit so the rain could flow through her locks, smiling bright as she took in the cool air.
About a weak ago she realized she was the person who had caused the near constant rain, and while at most times it was an agonizing storm, there were times just before the storm, light trickles like this, that she couldn't help but enjoy.
"Yeah...but hey at least it's calm tonight...probably a bad sign for what tommorrow's gonna be like though.."
Taking her hand back from her new friend, she ruffled her hair in both her hands, letting the now damp locks cool most of her revealed back, smiling as she took in the cool air. With how humid it had been lately she only really felt cool when it was raining, but boy was it the best kind of feeling. Hearing another question she turned to her pal, resting her rear on one of the roof's vents. "Yeah I'm from round here, got an apartment a few streets away with my pokemon. How about you? May just be me but you got a sorta...bosky...bayonada look?"
"There's plenty to do here, whether it's in or out," Charlie says, though she wonders why the weather's been so odd lately. Celia's certainly been loving it, and it's been giving Charlie an edge during battle due to the Croagunk's Dry Skin ability, and yet her insatiable curiosity constantly has her wondering. Lately she's been hearing more and more reports of a weird creature flying over Nue. Talk of possible legendary sightings has people in an uproar.
She shrugs off the thoughts when Yumi withdraws her hand. Suddenly free to explore, Charlie walks over to the edge of the club and peers down. "...but at least it's calm tonight." The line stretches out and down the street and none of the people so much as glance upward. She wonders what they'll all do if it starts pouring again.
"That easy to tell, huh?" Charlie says with a half-smile and dares a glance back at Yumi. "Used to work with my dad teaching self-defense." She raises her fists and shuffles away from the edge of the building, eyes narrowing as she punches imaginary foes. "I've got a touch of the wanderlust disease, sadly. I just made it into the city tonight, actually. Came here on a whim." She pauses to breathe in some of the wet air. Her head's really clearing up now, but she still feels like she's on a buzz.
"That's neat you live here. I'm curious--does the city lose its glamour from the inside? I know there's a lot of turnover in businesses here, but...does it ever get repetitive? I feel like it's one of those 'the grass is always greener' type things."

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
Yumi was glad to see her little assumption was right, and was more than a little proud to hear that she had a bit of the travelling urge much like herself, giving a soft little chuckle as she remembered when she first got that urge to look around the wor,d turning and stepping up onto the roof vent, the protective grid stopping her from falling in as she looked over the lights of the cuty from this little vantage point.
"Nah, Flash ain't lost it's spark for me yet..." She smiled, gazing over the neon city as her own neon paint began to drip down along her skin, still shining against the dark night sky above but slowly fading away. It was then she got one hell of an idea. "Sometimes it can get boring..but then ya gotta spice it up!"
Rushing past her new friend Charlie, Yumi ran straight into the club, shouting back up the stairs for her to stay put. She wasn't gone long, rushing back up with tubs of paint in her hand from the sides of the dance floor, an ecstatic grin on her face as she ran straight past Charlie again with no explanation, and then...
She jumped straight off the roof.
Her legs came up high with her leap, but then she dissapeared over the edge. Likely before Charlie could look to see what on earth she'd been crazy enough to do, there was a flash of red as one of her pokeballs openned up, rising back up atop her Noivern, now splattered with rain melted multicolored Neon panit, each flap of his huge wings sending paint off like some kind of rainbow flying slime monster, only far more majestic than she could ever make it sound as she stood atop it's back.
"So, you gonna hop on board and let me show ya how I liven things up?"
She kneeled on her Noivern's back as he hovered in place, offering her hand out to the other red head.

she got the power in her hand
"Spice it up, huh?" Charlie says to Yumi's back as the girl bounds back down the staircase. She turns back around to once again look at the expanse of Flash City. It's gorgeous in the rain, truly gorgeous. The lights have a strange glow about them, wavering gently from the distortion caused by the humidity and thousands of tiny raindrops falling from the sky.
The clouds are rolling faster in the sky and Charlie knows it's only a matter of time before the heavens open up again and drench the cities below. She scratches the back of her neck, thinking back to an odd moment a week or so ago when both Pabu and Celia had stopped what they were doing and just tilted their heads towards the sky. Something had changed and it rattled Charlie to the bones.
She hears hurried footsteps coming up the stairs and at first she thinks they've been caught, that they're going to get thrown out of the club and this night in Flash would be over. But Yumi returns with the promise that the night has just begun, buckets of neon paint sloshing in her arms. Charlie goes to say something, but the girl runs right by her...and jumps off the roof. "Ho-shitYUMI!" Charlie screams and almost slips as she goes to chase after her.
Then the sound of a Pokeball breaking open makes Charlie stop. Her smile twinges on her face even before she sees the Pokemon rise from the air, but when it does, her laughter echoes into the sky. "So, you gonna hop on board and let me show ya how I liven things up?" There she is, standing on the back of a neon-painted Noivern, paint splattering off of him as if he were some sort of radioactive rain cloud.
"Do you even need to ask?" Charlie says in response to Yumi's question. Charlie immediately reaches out to take Yumi's outstretched hand; she stretches off of the building and feels her stomach drop, but that rush of adrenaline comes racing back up her neck. "I've never flown before," she admits with another laugh. "I've wanted to, but Pabu's a little too small to ride on, being an Emolga and all," she says.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
Yumi smiled as Charlie took her hand, glad the other girl had some confidence in her, tossing the empty paint buckets back onto the roof as she tugged the other red head onto her noivern, the platform her made dipping for a moment as he took on the extra weight, just beating his wings harder to maintain it. All the while Yumi had both hands on Charlie, one on her hand and the other guiding her with a gentle grip on her bicep, giving Yumi a little unnoticeable blush as she realized there was some muscle to it.
"E-er...y-you get here, and get low, okay? Honestly the first time I've had a pasanger that isn't my sawk." Crouching low herself, she waited for Charlier to sit like she was, lighting taking her hands and putting them around her own bare waist, grinning a little as the slightly slimy feel of the neon paint on the both of them and her own pokemon was tingling her skin. "Okay, got a good grip?" She'd look over her shoulder with a bright smile before getting low again herself, Charlie likely having to hunch over her back to keep a good hold as Yumi grippe the mane of her Noivern, the paint making it a bit more clumpy, which may have actually been a good thing for her grip. With a light tap of her toes to the noivern's side, the pokemon started gaining height, a reverse nose dive towards the sky, slowly gaining speed and dripping paint like a half rainbow as he flew, the flaps of his WW2 style pilot helmet whipping in the wind.
Up above the city, it was beautiful. There was a whole new look on all the neon lights, like a tiny little model city that was lit up like a rainbow, the rain highlighted by all the colors, giving it all a hazy, mystic feel that just couldn't be described, and the view certainly couldn't be matched by anyone who would see the town from some nearby mountain. It was close, it was bright, and it was alive.
It was then Charlie may have felt the wind from the climb seemed to stop, and like the very tip of a roller coaster...the ride had reached it's slowest point.
"HOLD ON!"
Without even a lick of warning beyond Yumi's shout, her Noivern Rodrigez tucked in his wings, diving down into the city, Yumi screaming like an excited patron of a theme park, one hand on the dragon, one hand on Charlie's to make sure she had a tight grip. The lights of nearby sky scraper billboards flying past them like a rainbow blur, about to hit the streat before Rigez unfurled his wings, practically pulling a 90 degree shift as he zipped through the streats at full speed, the neon passing them just as fast, the sounds of the odd car or two whipping past them so fast you weren't sure if it was an engine or just the wings of Rigez cutting through the wind, making hard turns through the next few corners before slowing to a safer speed, Yumi giggling like a maniac as Rigez climbed to a height above the cars and road signs again, still between the buildings, looking back to her new friend with a wide grin, hoping she hadn't scared her to death.

she got the power in her hand
Charlie assumes she looks ridiculous as she shakily attempts to settle down on the Noivern's back. She's pretty sure her ass is higher in the air than it needs to be, but she carefully maneuvers herself into what she believes is the spot where Yumi wants her. Her heart is racing and for the first time in a long time, Charlie is afraid. It's not a bad kind of afraid, though. It's a lot less intense than being forty feet up in the air on a dragon-type Pokemon owned by someone she just met at a dance club probably should be. But then again, that's Charlie.
She is steeled by Yumi's hands back on her own and the girl welcomes the opportunity to lean her body into the other redhead. Her chin props up on Yumi's shoulder and their lips touch as Charlie's smile returns once again. Once she's in position, Yumi gives the okay to her Pokemon and suddenly they're climbing, higher and higher and it certainly doesn't take long before the club is indecipherable among the rest of the buildings. Charlie loosens her grasp a bit, aware that perhaps she's holding on tighter than need be, and flings her head back to look behind them.
Neon paint drips off of the Noivern and disappears into the night, mixing with the drizzle that they soar through. Flash City looks a lot flashier from up here; lights wink on and off as citizens move about. Car headlights look like lines of Weedles marching down highways. She is taking all of this in, trying to commit it to memory like she always does, when Yumi shouts, "HOLD ON!"
It's rigorous training and honed reflexes that has Charlie ducking closer to Yumi, drawing herself as tight into the girl as possible, right before the Noivern dives. OhmyMewohmyMewohmyMew goes the mantra in her head as they careen down back towards the city. Charlie can feel the color draining from her face and she wants to whisper, "I'm sorry I'm so sorry" to Yumi because she's pretty sure her fingers are digging into the girl's stomach, but she can't manage a word past the lump in her throat.
Then the Noivern's wings snap open, but their speed stays with them and he's flying through the streets of Flash. Charlie feels jostled and out of control and she loves it, but at the same time it's so new, it's so raw, that she doesn't know what to do with herself. She thinks, I need a flying type of my own, but then her thoughts return to the moment on this Noivern, with this girl, in this city.
Eventually they level out and Charlie manages to mostly release Yumi from her death grip. "I--" she starts and then gulps down air that isn't being snatched by furious winds. "That. I." Words fail her. Truly fail her, but she's so grateful. This has woken a hunger inside of her. She's never felt that much exhilaration before and her thoughts are racing, thinking Yumi can go wherever she wants, whenever she wants, with her Noivern. A blush rises to her cheeks and she's not sure why, but a jittery laugh bubbles up from her throat. She squeezes her friend closer while laughing and then catches her breath, manages to say one word that she deems suitable for the moment: "Wow."
