It was a beautiful spring day and Josh felt that it was a good day to try and catch a Pokemon in the Safari Zone. It'd been awhile since he'd come around here, with the busy-ness from the last few months making his visits not as often as he would like. Still, he'd tried to keep to a 2 a month quota, even if he'd been unable to fill it some months. This month, he hoped, he would be able to do well.
The blonde haired Trainer walked through the "Forest" area of the Safari Zone, back to wearing the trenchcoat again after a brief respite in favor of wearing winter clothing. A new scarf hung down from his neck down to his back, and beside him walked his partner, Lightning, a Pikachu with a little blue bandana hanging from his neck. But this is all known, basic information by now.
Josh would take a deep breath, taking in the spring air as they walked, admittedly a little excited at the prospect of possibly making a new friend today. Well, that's how they worded mutilating an animal and catching it in a tiny ball, anyway.

Above the trees, Josh noticed a Treecko swinging from branch to branch, and a small smile crossed his lips, a twinkle came to his eye. It reminded him so much of his own former Treecko, Terry, who was a Grovyle now. With a warrior's spirit, he had become an amazing battler, and was only going to become an even better one over time. But his pastimes of swinging from tree to tree could not be ignored, Josh wasn't sure if they were for agility practice, or if the Grovyle just had a fun time doing it. But this Treecko swinging from tree to tree was quite the reminder that his own Pokemon were growing up, and growing up fast.
He would smile faintly... And then, the Treecko was gone. Josh highly doubted that he would see it again. But perhaps another Trainer would, he thought. And perhaps then, they would be able to give it the home that he was proud to be able to give Terry.

Another blast from the past zipped by them, this time via a Coil-made vine swinging past them. Josh recognized it this time, a Snivy, a female by the looks of it. Interesting, he thought. The last time he had come to the Safari Zone, well... Two times ago, that is, he had caught a Snivy just like that one. The both of them, it and the male one that had been given to him by Izumi, were still getting settled in the ranch, but Josh couldn't help but look forward to the day that they could begin training. He'd seen the both of them in practice at some point, whether it was the beginnings of training, or against them, as was the female Snivy in this case. There was potential there, but what they could do with that potential still remained a mystery...
For now, he smiled faintly and kept walking. There was still more to see.

"Hera!"
"Hm?" Josh let out as he would stop in his tracks, hearing the cry of one of the Pokemon that he was hunting for in Zone 1 of the Safari Zone. A small smirk would cross his lips and he would look down at Lightning, who had stopped to look up at him.
"... Perfect"
Josh would close his eyes, trying to listen for the movements of the Heracross. He'd encountered one before, but it had gotten away. If he listened right, he would be able to hear the movements of its wings. Josh would allow himself to clear his mind, relaxing. Eyes closed, mouth taking in light gulps of air for breath, he listened to the sounds of the forest, trying to pick up the familiar sound of a Heracross's wings.
And then there it was. The humming of the Heracross's wings filled his ears and he was able to pick up on its location. "There!" Josh called as he would quickly tap the button on one of his Poke Balls, bringing out Chester, his Numel, before Josh quickly called out "Flamethrower!" Pointing toward where he could hear the Heracross. Quickly, Chester loosed a mouthful of flames that narrowly kept from hitting the trees. Josh heard something hit the ground and the three rushed over to find the Heracross getting up after being hit with the Flamethrower. It didn't look happy, and would quickly attack the Numel with a Take Down, sending Chester tumbling back. "Don't worry about it, Chester! Use Take Down!" Josh would call to the Numel, who would nod before charging himself, slamming into the Heracross, who was still recovering from the recoil damage of his first Take Down attack on the Numel, sending both tumbling back from the impact. "Flamethrower!" He would call and the Numel would unleash another mawful of flames, but this time, Heracross would flap his wings and dodge the attack via flying into the air. "Knock it out of the sky with Yawn!" Josh would call as the Numel would let out a yawn, sending bubbles the way of the Heracross, who would dodge them with ease. "Quick, Flamethrower!" Josh would suddenly exclaim. "NUUUUM!" Chester let out as he would suddenly use Flamethrower, catching Heracross off guard and causing it to hit the ground hard.
"Finish it with Earthqua-"
Josh wouldn't get the chance as Heracross would suddenly use Feint and hit the Numel hard, sending him back before charging it and using Take Down. "Guh..." Josh muttered. "Hold on, Chester! Take Down!" Josh would call as Chester would get up and charge the Heracross, who would also charge with another Take Down. They'd both collide, and Josh would grit his teeth as they'd both fly back, slamming into different trees. After a few tense moments, the Numel would struggle to his feet, but the Heracross did not. Josh felt this was the right time to toss a Pokeball at it.
