Zernebog had thought that they were finally in the clear when they saw that the next room was nothing but endless rock set as blocks and hallways. In fact, this was possibly the plainest-looking area he had ever encountered in this building so far. Most people would feel at east at the unremarkable design after all of the shit they would have gone through earlier.
But most people weren't hardened and experienced archaeologists with bizarre luck like one Zernebog Romanov. Moments of calm and silence like this made the hair on the back of his neck raise up like the fur of an angry or scared Persian. It reminded him of the calm before the storm.
”...Guys. I don't like how quiet this place is. Keep your guard up.” Zernebog ordered as his hands twitched and ached to reach underneath his jacket for his machete. ”Knowing my horrible luck, there's probably something in here just wating to ambush us and take advtange of the space to try and do us in or something.”
Helios shook his head at his trainer's paranoid antics, but Diomedes was tense. His ears and antennae-like appendages twitched as they started to sense something else in the area....
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found Wise Glasses! Unsure if they're corrective or not. ( Post a Mod Summons to exchange this for •10 )

Cruuuuuuunch! Crackle! Cra-ack!
Zernebog paused and looked down, lifting his foot to see what he had just stepped on. ”...Oh. It's just another pair of glasses.” He snorted and shook his head. ”Man, what a waste of-”
"SANDILE!" Suddenly, wind and sand howled into the area, obscuring vision and scraping the faces of both Helios and Zernebog, also making the latter's clothing flutter around wildly. Not expecting the sudden sand facial treatment, the white haired man growled and shielded his face with his arm hastily, unaware that it had hit a pokeball on the way up.
Diomedes, however, was not affected by the sandstorm that had suddenly appeared but he didn't see the dislodged pokeball either, being too focused on the attacker he had sensed from earlier.
And said attacker was absolutely furious. "DILE DILE!" It growled as it made a very scary face that made both Helios and Diomedes balk a bit. It even made Zernebog raise an impressed eyebrow. In fact they were so focused on the Sandile that none of the three noticed that there was grass growing up from where they were standing despite the fact that there should be no grass in this deep. The Sandile didn't notice either, too busy giving the two bigger pokemon an evil face.
After giving them both a scary face, it then stomped the ground and triggered an earthquake. However, to its shock the Earthquake wasn't as strong as it could be even though its three targets looked somewhat dizzy from the assault. Unfortunately for it, it would never get to question it because it was suddenly whipped into a wall by a large green vine from seemingly out of nowhere.
"SANDILE?!"
”What the fuck?"
Both Zernebog and the Sandile were confused as to where it came from. In Zernebog's case, he was poked by a smirking Diomedes before he gestured towards the source of the vines - Demeter, his Ivysaur.
”When did you-” WHAM! Zernebog paused for a moment when he saw the Sandile being slammed into the floor. ”...get out of your pokeball? I don't remember releasing you.”
WHAP! WHAM! And as the Ivysaur brutalized the Sandile with multiple uses of a boosted Power Whip courtesy of the grass no one had noticed yet, Zernebog patted down his jacket. He frowned when he realized that he only had five pokeballs in his pocket, which meant that one had been dislodged sometime before Demeter started beating up the Sandile. But when?
Zernebog would have to figure that out after he caught the Sandile. After all, it was the first wild living creature he'd seen in here. Granted it was a dark type so he wouldn't be able to have his pokemon pick at its brain, but he still had other methods at his disposal.
”You done, Demeter?” Zernebog called out when the sounds stopped and the sandstorm had finally died down. In response, he got a small beige body thrown his way. Chuckling to himself, he pointed an empty pokeball at the flying body moments before it hit him and watched as it sucked up the flying body into a red light....

As soon as the pokeball stopped flashing in his hands, Zernebog thought that the trouble was over. He was wrong.
Dead wrong.
Diomedes was the first one to sense the danger, but he was far too slow to warn his companions of it in time. "Luca-"
"BLAZIKEN?!" Everyone else's heads snapped towards the cursed Blaziken as he was thrown into the walls by an unseen force.
"Ivysaur?" Despite her concern, Demeter still had the presence of mind to recreate the grasses on the floor that she had sent back into the ground a few moments after the sandstorm finally died.
"Elygem." Their attention was then pulled in by the strange small blue creature staring down at them from a chandelier that none of them noticed since they weren't looking up. It looked strangely calm as an aura started to appear around it while Helios groaned and pulled himself out from the hole he had made in the wall. Stupid little thing was strong and packed a punch that was for sure.
Diomedes looked ready to blast it out of its misery for attacking one of his friends, but a look from Zernebog made him stand down. Apparently it wasn't his turn to dish out the pain.
”Demeter, take care of the pest. Wall it the whip it good." Zernebog calmly stated once he turned his attention back to the creature that looked disconcertingly like that one brown pokemon that had caused him a lot of trouble back in Sevii along with the rest of its conclave or whatever. ”Whip it real good."
A hazy screen of light fizzled into existence on Demeter's side of the field before the Elygem took offense and tried to literally knock manners into the white haired human by using a telekinetic push on the guy. However, all it made the human feel was a slight push because of the barrier muffling quite a bit of its force, making the Elygem stare in shock.
That was enough of a distraction for the Ivysaur to capitalize on by whipping it with a Power Whip to the face, sending its face snapping to the side and almost breaking its neck. In response, the Elygem glowed bright as it used Recover to immediately get back the health it had lost in that single blow before trying to hop down onto the ground.
Unfortunately it wasn't even given the chance to do that because it was suddenly slammed into the wall by another Power Whip before it was slammed into the ground. In fact, the last slam was so hard courtesy of the grass underneath their feet that the last blow actually broke its neck and a few bones, killing it instantly while unknowingly crushing a Shiny Stone underneath its body.
Being in tune with Aura, Diomedes was able to feel exactly when it died. While not a stranger to death, he gasped as he turned towards the Ivysaur, leveling it with a sharp stare.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found RELIC BAND! A bracelet made in a civilization about 3,000 years ago. A maniac will buy it for a high price.

After the battle, Zernebog had decided that a bit of a break was in order so he had released his Smeargle Pygmalion to commission him to draw the area while he and the others rested. However, as soon as the grass had faded away, Zernebog and company realized that their troubles weren't over yet. How?
"SAWK!" Via a surprise ambush assault from a blue creature in a gi that Zernebog vaguely remembered as a Sawk from previous files and sightings.
"IVY?!" And this was smart enough to try and take out what it deemed to be the biggest threat. Too bad it needed lessons on how to properly assess an opponent's strength, because then it would have tried for Diomedes instead of Demeter, who was resistant to the blow that struck her on the head.
In retaliation, Demeter huffed and smacked the Sawk away with a Power Whip in order to get some distance. That didn't deter the Sawk from trying to attack her again before she got the grass up, having learned from previous mistakes. Not even the noxious-looking purple mist that the Ivysaur spat managed to deter it either as it ran to the Ivysaur and delivered another Karate Chop.
Like last time, Demeter decided to smack the Sawk away from her with another power whip. This time however, it proved to be a mistake because as soon as the vines struck, the Sawk's arms glowed red before it delivered a devastating punch to Demeter's vine. Somehow, the pain from the hit went through her entire body, driving Demeter to her knees even as the Sawk was flung away.
Unnoticed by all, Pygmalion was struck by inspiration as he watched the Sawk and the Ivysaur and pointed his tail at the Sawk when it glowed. No one noticed since they were all at the edge of their seats watching the two combatants fight it out.
”No! Demeter!" Zernebog called out in concern upon seeing his pokemon on her knees for the first time since she was accidentally let out. While this was far from the first pokemon he'd seen on her knees, it still horrified him something fierce as it brought back memories he'd sworn that he'd locked away.
”Don't succumb to the pain! Keep fighting!" Zernebog encouraged even as he watched the Sawk glare at him. He had an inkling that he knew what the Sawk used, so he decided to switch gears. ”Spray it, don't smack it! It's bound to faint soon anyway!"
The Sawk wondered why the human said that, then the toxic started to kick in, making it suddenly pale and stagger like he'd drunk a barrel of wine all in one go. The Ivysaur took advantage of the pause by spraying a special toxic liquid from her mouth right onto the Sawk. The instant the liquid hit the exposed parts of the Sawk, it screamed in pain as it felt like its insides were melting and burning at the same time before falling to its knees like Demeter had earlier before falling in a dead faint.
Zernebog stared at the creature for a few moments before shrugging to himself and tossing a pokeball its way.

Click! The pokemon glowed red once and then stopped moving. A moment later, it vanished into storage in a burst of white light. However, Zernebog didn’t notice it as he was too busy tending to Demeter’s wounds. It was his other two pokemon who saw it but they didn’t bother to tell their trainer because he probably already knew the outcome.
As soon as Zernebog finished treating Demeter’s wounds with alcohol and a Super Potion, he noticed something bad about the contents of his bag. ”Damn. We’re running low on Super Potions and Hyper Potions.” He clicked his tongue in disappointment. ”We can probably go only a little further before we’ll have to teleport back guys.”
He then thought of something and frowned. ”…That’s if we can even do that. But then, that’s what Escape Ropes and our gear are for, right?” He asked himself and the others out loud.
Zernebog grinned upon seeing their confident nods and feeling Demeter’s affectionate nuzzle to his hand. ”Good, now let’s get out of this corridor.” He ordered as he stood up.
Unfortunately, there was one more obstacle in their way before they could leave. “MAKUHITA!”
Zernebog’s expression became flat as he looked at the round yellow creature with gloves that had come out of… what looked like to be a small passageway that was around Diomedes’ height. ”Apparently the denizens of this damned ruins really don’t want us to venture out further. Demeter, please turn that Makuhita into a punching bag.”
The Makuhita stood tall and defiant as it drummed its stomach to the beat of its own personal war drums, powering itself up to the max by cutting its own health in half. Unfortunately, that was a bad idea because that allowed Demeter to lash out Toxic-covered vines and smash the Makuhita into a wall with a powerful thud using Power Whip.
The Makuhita looked positively sick as it pulled itself out of the wall, literally on its last legs as the poison started to work its way through its system. It could only endure the next hit from the powerful vines that sent him to the wall again, latching onto his very last bit of health using his willpower. Unfortunately, it was for naught because the poison in its system from the vines ate the last of its health up, sending it falling to its knees and onto the floor, unconscious.
”And that’s a wrap.” Zernebog deadpanned as he tossed a pokeball at the Makuhita because he can.
