Arriving within the Unova region, Aaron has decided to walk into the Desert Resort for its large tourist attraction of good service and unique deliquesce, keeping those who stay happy and wanting more. Aaron however wasn't planning to stay here long, the heat from the sun rained down on him like a heavy rain shower, constantly wiping his forehead of sweat and portioning his bottle of water just to survive the heat. His hair started to ruffle as if alive, but soon two ears popped out from the top of his head and soon the head of a Pichu, who had climbed his way to the top of Aaron's head. His Pichu disliked his pokeball and would rather stay outside instead, seeing the sites and viewing the people walking by, having more of a rebellious nature to himself, but Aaron doesn't really mind it. These two have been walking on a path toward the entrance of the Desert Resort, hopefully to get a large hit of cool air that awaited them within their walls.
The entrance opened before them by a man and his wife, who looked like they were just leaving. Holding the door for them Aaron bowed his head just a bit to show his appreciation, without realizing that Pichu was still there. Pichu grabbed his long strands of of black hair and hanged for his life, making Aaron give a small shout. Lifting his head, he patted Pichu from behind helping him back onto his head and walked into the resort with the couple laughing behind him.
"What should we do now. Wait here for a bit and rest or head out and look for some more friends?"
Aaron said with his eyes near the top ridge of his eye sockets and looking toward Pichu, who just shrugged his shoulders. Having to choose from paradise and new company must of been to hard for Pichu to decide that he would just let Aaron choose for them. So he decided to take a little rest from a long walk, and found an empty chair in the lounging area. Taking a seat, letting the cool air hit his face, Pichu jumped onto his lap and rested his head back onto his stomach.

Cherufe is an enormous lava creature in Unova folklore who lives in the caves that are said to exist under the Desert Resort and once fed upon young maidens. To protect the local population, the village leader sent his two warrior daughters to guard the Cherufe. With them they brought magical weapons which are capable of freezing the creature. But on occasion Cherufe escaped and thereby caused volcanic eruptions. It is said that the daughters eventually subdued Cherufe as he swore he would escape and burn the entire village to the ground. Fearing his threat the daughters continually touched Cherufe with their icy weapons for nine years. Eventually causing him to become frozen and fall into a meditative state where he repented and eventually turned to stone.
Darmanitan dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck. It is said that if you were to find the lost Shrine of Cherufe and filled in one of his eyes with your goal your success will be met twice fold.
Ronnie stood outside of one of Unova's good fortunes shrines eyeing up the local legend in desperation and debate. It was Spring Break and the decision was going to be a tough one. She only had 15PD in her pocket and she'd need to buy a map and a doll if this was to work, plus find someway out to the Desert Resort. "Hmm," she hummed to herself in contemplation. She did have that huge Final Essay exam coming up that counted for 75% of her grade. "Hnn," her mind went about weighing the pros and cons of investing in guaranteed success or being broke for the next ten days.
Brown eyes read back over the legend once more, "Eh, I'll give it a whirl." she decided and stuffed her hands into her old blue gym suits pockets. Venturing into the open side of the shrine she was met with an old priest sitting behind the gift shop counter reading the local newspaper. Behind him and surrounding her on three sides were shelves and walls of red, blue, yellow and orange Darmanitan dolls. Some had eyes, some didn't and there were more sizes than she thought possible. There was even one giant painted paper meche one off to the side of the counter and a gray carved stone one sitting on the counter staring blankly at anyone who passed by.
"Yo, old man." she greeted and thumbed with her left hand towards the direction where the legend sign hung on the outside. "How much for one of them success kits?"
Fifteen minutes later she emerged with a small plastic gift bag that held a palm sized little red doll with the most pissed off face she had ever seen. Even without pupils it looked like it hated the world. Shaking her head she dropped the doll back inside the plastic and pulled out and opened the map she got. Looking back up at the shrine legend as she passed she could only wonder just how accurate this thing was.
"Hmn," she murmured with her eyes glued to the xeroxed layout of the Desert Resort. "Authentic." she chirped but remained concentrating on the map more so than where she was heading. Like a sixth sense she weaved through a sidewalk construction zone without so much as a blink and just missed getting hit by an opening car door. When Ronnie was into something it was hard for her to break concentration and make one wonder how she was still alive.
She paused once she reached the blocks corner and glanced back over her shoulder suspiciously. Tucking the map closer to her chest she horded her brilliant idea away from prying eyes She paused and waited for a moment or two before turning back ahead and grinning big as she thrust her arm up into the air. "Yus! Hello Principals luncheon! Your doughnuts are as good as mine.~" she purred in excitement before running off towards her hotel room. She'd need to pick up a few things before thumbing a ride out to the Desert Resort.
Although Ronnie was very resourceful some people would question her methods. Still, if it got the job done there wasn't really any use in complaining right?
Once she got back to the hotel it was a simple matter of changing out of her flip-flops and into her recently purchased hiking boots. The ones that were still practically new and had a tag through one eyelet. Grabbing her sunglasses off of her dresser she pushed them up on top of her head and opened up her backpack. stocking up on bottled water and food for the journey.
With a forest green backpack hanging low on her spine she set off towards the Desert Resort. Of course once she got on the final road that lead out to it she pulled out her hand made sign "DESERT RESORT or BUST" and started walking backwards holding it out whenever someone passed by. Mostly it was tourist buses with Air-conditioning but there was no way she was going to pay 15PD for a 3PD bus fair. "Sigh" she exhaled heavily as the third bus passed her up. "Stupid tourism." she muttered under her breath.
Stalking along the asphalt in her boots she continued on in the heat with her blue gym pants rolled up over the top of her knees and a white T-shirt. The jacket was tied around her waist as she plodded along before reaching the city limits. It was there she saw one of the tour buses waiting for a herd of Dwebble to wander past. Ronnie bit her bottom lip before looking both ways and ran over to the back of the bus. Eyeing up the size of the bumper and the hoist handle she moved over and jumped up on the back of it and wiggled her butt onto the bumper and clutched the handle for balance. Grinning like a Cheshire cat she only hope that it didn't make any sudden stops.

While it wasn’t widely known as of yet that Richelle Inaku was out and about, it seemed a certain aunt of her’s had caught wind of her niece’s wanderings. It didn’t take too much for Ricki to figure out how her aunt had figured out, though. A while ago, she’d admitted to her cousin, Ronnie, that she had left the region she’d grown up in and was out on the move. She hadn’t mentioned the fact she was married, or that she actually moved in with her new husband, though. As far as pretty much everyone was aware, Ricki was still Richelle Jace, and engaged to Koa Inaku. If only they knew she’d gone and married her Vegas style just a few months ago.
The thought made her chuckle as she continued along the street back towards the hotel. In her arm, she had a bag of various snacks, from instant microwavable to chips and sweets. Ricki was not cook, so without Koa around to cook up dinner, and no desire to waste a bunch of money on one meal, Ricki had the clever idea of just buying a bunch of junk to last her and Ronnie for a few days. She hadn’t been to the Unova region before, so she’d taken her sweet time to enjoy the scenery along the way. Her newest addition to her team, Shield the Bronzor, floated alongside her, eagerly taking in all the views.
“Eh, you think Ron-Ton will beat us back to the hotel room?” she questioned, glancing to the Bronzor who seemed to float upwards then back down a little in a make-shift shoulder-less shrug. The steel type whirled around Ricki in excitement, which caused his trainer to laugh. Moving along to the hotel room, a scan of the place revealed it to be oddly empty. Well, Ronnie clearly wasn’t there, but something still seemed off about the place. As if there was more than just a troublesome cousin missing from the place, but… Ah, stuff was definitely gone. Why was stuff gone? Despite knowing her cousin wasn’t there, it didn’t stop Ricki from letting out a curious “Ronnie?” in search for the fourteen-year-old.
Ricki had been given the task of keeping her eye on the adventurous child, and seeing her, along with a lot of her stuff, missing, was not a good sign. Setting the bag of food down on a table in the room, it was then that Ricki finally noticed the note. Returning her bronzor to his pokeball as she picked up the note, Ricki braced for the worst.
‘Going to find a treasure in the Desert Resort. BBL Ronnie’
Ricki’s eye did an involuntary twitch at the words. “Of course, of all the people I leave alone, I leave the personification of curiosity killed the cat” she grumbled, crumbling up the note. Not wasting any time, Ricki grabbed her backpack and tugged it onto her shoulder. Heading back out of the hotel room, one of Ronnie’s shirts in hand, Ricki released an Arcanine from one of her pokeballs. The massive canine sniffed the shirt carefully, before letting out a triumphant bark. Ricki grinned and didn’t hesitate to climb up onto her Pokémon’s back. “Follow that trail!” she ordered, and the duo quickly took off after said trail.
Upon arriving to the shop in which the legend had been posted, the Arcanine came to a stop to catch its breath in the heat of the current climate. Ricki made her way inside, looking around before her eyes rested on the legend. While she usually wouldn’t bother reading such a thing, when she took into account just who it was she was looking for, Ricki skimmed it over. Ronnie was always doing this, running off to try and find some sort of adventure or treasure, much like Ricki had done when she first left home. After reading the legend, Ricki turned her attention to the old man behind the counter. Showing him a picture and having it be confirmed that Ronnie had indeed gone and fallen for the legend, Ricki forked over some of her funds for her own kit.
With a map in hand now, Ricki headed back out to her Arcanine and hopped on. The large hound slowly rose up to his feet and began onwards. Like the show dog he’d been originally raised to be, Pyro’s stride was a clear demonstration of pride. He had the walk of a dog on stage, seeming to not fit his trainer situated on his back. She wasn’t dressed up at all, and hardly a coordinator at all. In fact, Ricki was a rather experienced trainer, who got a hold of Pyro when he was a growlithe, and was a gift from a retiring coordinator.
“Alright, Pyro… Onwards” she sighed, tucking the map carefully into her pocket and leaning forward just in time for the arcanine to take off full speed ahead.
Opening his eye's followed the small Pichu who started to stand on his two feet, watching the passing tourists with curiosity with his little hand on his mouth and his head tilted a bit, as a sign of confusion and interest. Aaron placed his hand roughly onto the Pichu's head. Pichu just jumped in surprise and jumped from his lap and onto the ground, with Aaron stretching his arms out above himself, with a large cracking noise followed not to far. As he got up, he found a large map posted on the nearby wall to his left. Getting up to take a better look at his surrounding Pichu jumped back onto him, climbing onto his shoulder to take a look as well. As he was looking on the map it showed which places were more open to pokemon, probably for tourists not to wonder off and get themselves hurt from wild pokemon who would think them as a threat.
"I'm guessing we should head out there, in search of some new pokemon. We should grow more before we can take on our first gym."
Aaron spoke toward Pichu who's head nodded and jumped down toward to the ground and rushed on all fours to the door. With Aaron close behind, opening the door for the both of them, and the strong heat struck his body. With the direction of the map indicating the direction of the wild area, they decided to rough it, and take the walk. Not only they will be continuing to head into the hot climate but might find something special on the walk there.

Ronnie had a white knuckle grip on the tour bus bumper when it began to move and pick up speed. Her feet were tucked up and slightly dangling above the asphalt. The scent of exhaust fumes made her nose wrinkle as she watched the city outskirts get smaller and smaller. From inside the air conditioned bus she could hear the squawking sound of the tour guide coming across the speakers giving direction on which way to turn their head proceeded by a chunk of factual road trivia pertaining to the region and the solitude Route 4. It wasn't until she heard mention of Cherufe did she really try and press her face to the back of the bus to hear better. Brown eyes darted left and right taking in the local scenery of sweltering dead earth and roadkill as she listened to what the guide had to say. Turning her head to the right she saw the mesa looming in the distance. That's when panic set in, the buss wasn't stopping, it was slowing down but it wasn't stopping. "Not good. Not good." she gritted out in a rising panic. She needed to get off but alerting the bus to stop would only cause her problems. Looking down at the asphalt she noticed they were picking up speed again.
That's when Ronnie took a leap of faith, literally. She let go of the hoist handle and dropped one foot down to drag on the asphalt before her weight shifted forward and she let gravity do the rest. Like being ripped from a train Ronnie jerked off the bumper and stumbled to her ass before rolling to the side meeting a small family of cacti that acted as a boarder. "AAAHHHH!" she cried out and scrambled away from them hissing and feeling the tears fill the bottom of her eyes. Pushing herself up to her feet and keeping her right arm up over head like a ballerina Ronnie turned to look down at the long white needles that stuck out from her side. "Damn it." she whimpered and sniffed biting her lower lip as she reached over to yank one out. "OW!" came the choked gasp as she brought the needle up to her eyes and studied it for a moment. Biting her bottom lip once more and locking her jaw she looked back down at her side. This was going to be long process.

Riding along on the back of her arcanine, all for miles that she could see was sand, sand, and more sand. Personally, Ricki hated scorching dry places like this. She couldn’t stand them, and this place was starting to remind her of just why she loathed them. The unrelenting waves of heat constantly hit her, and the breeze of the blistering wind hitting her, she was getting hot, too hot. Especially when her ride was a fire type Arcanine was her personal heater in the colder climates of the Pokémon world. She practically dug for her own grave on this one, but that was only Ricki’s second complain as of now.
Her first complaint was just the fact she had to be out here thanks to a certain someone. She wasn’t out in this obnoxiously sweat demanding heat because she wanted to be. This was all thanks to a little run away adventurer who was bound to get herself into even more trouble sooner or later, no doubt. The quicker she found Ronnie, the quicker this could all be over with. Now, where was Ronnie!? The young trainer grumbled to herself as it became apparent that Ronnie must have been gone for a long time if she’d managed to get so far out on her own. As far as Ricki was aware, Ronnie had no means of hitching a ride on the back of a bus.
Continuing along on the draining ride, Ricki scanned her surroundings very carefully. “Ronnie?!” she would call out, but get no response. This went on for a while, before Ricki looked up to see another trainer on the road ahead of her. Tugging on Pyro’s fur to order him to slow down, Pyro’s pace slowed to a gentle trot alongside the other trainer the duo had come across. He was a young man, probably just a bit younger than Ricki herself, and had a Pichu with him. Looking around once more, as if double checking to make absolute sure Ronnie wasn’t there, the frustrated woman looked to this trainer.
“Hey!” she called out, turning on the Arcanine’s back. Both legs hanging off one side, riding like a princess, now, Ricki eyed the young man carefully. “Have you seen an obnoxious teenaged girl around here?” she questioned, sliding off the arcanine without stopping. She landed easily on her feet, and smoothly slid into pace with the boy. “She’s pretty short and got short hair, brown, with hazel eyes” she went on, before glancing off to the side. “Loud mouth, very in your face” she tacked on, before looking back at Aaron, clearly not enthusiastic about this search for her cousin. “Her name is Ronelle Rillito, but goes by Ronnie” she finished up and stared at the young man with a look that clearly wanted some sort of answer from him.
Aaron continued to walk through a small stone path that rested in the earth along with small patches of sand that flew onto the path slowly by the wind blowing on it by the side. Aaron kept his hands by his sides while he slowly strode on the path toward the wild part of the resort, and along side him was Pichu laying on his stomach on top of his head, patting his head. Suddenly Pichu's ears shot upward toward the sky and he jumped onto his feet.
"Whats wrong?"
Aaron asked as he looked up toward Pichu, listening to him screech as a large canine pokemon shot toward them. Slowly decreasing its speed, it casually strode beside them two, leaving Pichu in curiosity and fear before starting to shouting at the beast. Aaron laughed and noticed that there was a women that sat on top of the beast, which from he position can see that it was an Arcanine. The women that sat on the Arcanine looked a bit older then he was and as she spoke to him, his face flushed from how straight forward she was and stuttered before speaking.
"Umm, I'm sorry I haven't seen anyone by that description, but they do sound like a handful."
Aaron said jokingly as he scratched the back of his head. He looked to his sides to see if he can get a glimpse of who she was talking about and see if they were nearby, and by the site of their pokemon they must have taken alot of ground to search for this person.
"Ronnie was it? I'll be sure to tell them your looking from them."
