elcome Adventurer to EPOCH! A Pokemon Sandbox Rp set in the original region of Nue. Everything you need to know will be in the Guidebook and PokeDex 101!
EPOCH uses the Manga and is built on the Original ideas suggested by our members.
We are more than just a Pokemon RP, we're a friendly community with a goal on being a memorable experience for those that look in.
Golden Rule: Treat others as you wish to be treated. If you find yourself content with being an asshole EPOCH and its members will not tolerate you.

Understand We're All Human. Respect the staffers as well as your fellow members and guests. We all have flaws, tempers and quirks. Be patient with one another, but if issues involving other members come up please don’t just grin and bear it. Contact a staff member, informing them of what's going on so they can address and resolve the situation. The staff won't know what's bothering you unless you tell them.

With Singles Awareness Day here, and Josh having arrived to Tynntill early, he had quite a bit of time before he was to meet Izumi. Of course, the blonde haired Pokemon Trainer, with his partner, his Pikachu, Lightning, walking beside him, had already gone and gotten his.... Rather unique shopping list. Of course, he had gotten the gifts for Izumi. Those which would not be mentioned until the right place and time. And then, of course, the gear he had ordered. Josh would gingerly finish wirelessly hooking up the earpiece to his new phone, as well as setting up the holographic video call settings. Lightning had been very interested in watching Josh play with the new technology. Of course, they had quite some time still... So what to do?
That's when Josh's eyes caught a fishing area just outside of town. Smirking faintly, he would walk over and fish out the retractable lure in his bag, before baiting the hook and casting his line.

"Hey, a bite!" Josh would let out as something would tug hard on the line. "Pika!" Lightning would chirp with excitement as Josh would pull and reel, trying to haul in whatever was biting. Before long, a Tympole would fly out of the water, firing a dose of Supersonic at the two, who would back away from it. "Alright Lightning, chill! I got this!" Josh would call as he would toss up a Pokeball. "Go, Kaz!" Josh let out as his Bellsprout would emerge from the ball, the blonde catching the empty Pokeball as it would come back down. "Kaz, see if you can calm it down with a little Sweet Scent!" Josh would call toward the Bellsprout, who would nod before loosing an aroma that hopefully would lower the tone. Tympole would quickly dive into the water, dodging the attack before it would suddenly shoot a flare up into the sky. Before Josh could react, it would suddenly start raining. "Oh come on!" Josh let out as Lightning would irritably go find a source of cover nearby. Kaz, meanwhile, seemed totally okay with this, and started dancing in the rain.
Meanwhile, Tympole would rise out of the water, shooting another Supersonic. "Dodge!" Josh called to the Bellsprout, who would dance to the side, still dancing in the rain. "Use Wrap! Trap it there!" Josh would call to the Bellsprout, who would nod before using vines to pluck the fish out of the water and start squeezing the life out of it. Tympole wasn't finished though, and would start firing Growl after Growl at the Bellsprout. "Gastro Acid to stop it's attacks for a moment!" Josh would call as the Bellsprout would rear it's head and shoot an acid that would make the Tympole stop screaming and fighting as much. "Sweet Scent to pacify it!" Josh would add as the Bellsprout would try Sweet Scent again. This time, the fighting and attacking went down... Now, he needed to end this.
"Sleep Powder!" Josh would call toward the Bellsprout as he would use the Wrapped state to shoot those sleeping spores. The Tympole would fire another Growl, but it was fruitless as it would begin to fall asleep... Josh would toss a Pokeball at it and hope that this was enough.

The Tympole would manage to escape the Sleep Powder, as well as the Pokeball. "Drat. Looks like we'll have to knock it out the old fashioned way, Kaz!" Josh called to his Bellsprout, who would nod as Tympole would attack with Supersonic. "To the left!" Josh would call as the Bellsprout would sidestep to the left. Tympole wasn't having that, no no no nah uh nope. It would move to the left with it and fire Supersonic again. "To the right!" Josh would call, and the Bellsprout would dodge to the right, but this time Tympole was getting closer, trying to get in a close ranged Supersonic to guarantee a hit.
"Just a little closer, Kaz..." Josh would whisper. It seemed he had a plan here. Tympole would fire another Supersonic, but Josh was prepared for it. "Kaz, jump back!" Josh called as the Plant Bell would jump back, dodging it once again. This time, Tympole would dive after it, getting in close...
Perfect.
"Use Wrap!" Josh would suddenly call to Kaz, who would use the close range to wrap his vines around the Tympole, before squeezing hard. Tympole would let out a yelp in surprise as it's strategy was foiled by the Bellsprout. It would struggle and squirm, but it was no use. The Bellsprout as bigger than the Tympole, and it's attacks weren't going to free it anytime soon! "Squeeze harder, Kaz! Squeeze it until it's out!" Josh would call as the Bellsprout would continue to squeeze, trying it's hardest to pretty much squeeze the life out of the oversized tadpole. Tympole was fading fast, and it would try to attack with Supersonic, only to miss as Kaz would attack with Gastro Acid, temporarily blinding it. "Sleep Powder!" Josh would call as the Bellsprout would move it's head, hitting a close ranged Sleep Powder. Tympole would slowly fade off, and Josh would take a breath, knowing the hard part seemed to be over. "Squeeze it harder! The struggling should stop, you can squeeze it until it faints!" Josh would call to the Bellsprout, who would squeeze with Wrap as hard as it could, until finally it let go and Josh would lowball a Pokeball at Tympole.

Finally, the ball would click, citing that they had finally caught Tympole. "Gah, I thought it'd never go in" Josh admitted, taking a deep breath. "Alright Kaz, you deserve a rest. Return" He said as he would return the Bellsprout to his Pokeball. He was proud of his Belsprout's progress, he had gotten more and more adept in battle. It was only a matter of time before he became a serious threat to be reckoned with. But it wasn't the only threat to think about.... As Josh picked up the ball, he would accidentally kick something. He would look over and see a...
Psyduck?
"Oh. Sorry about that" Josh said, walking over and patting the Psyduck on the head, who stared at him with a blank look, it's hands on it's head. "I didn't mean to kick you, friend. My apologies" He would apologize politely, as Psyduck just kept staring at him. "Well uh... Back to work" He said as he would turn... And then sudden Psyduck would open his mouth and unleash a Screech attack, an earsplitting move that caused Josh to fall to his knees, along with Lightning, holding their ears?
"GAH! This is going to give ME a headache!" Josh would cry out as he would toss a Pokeball to stop this Psyduck. "Go, Carter!" Josh would call as his Noibat would be brought out of his Pokeball. "Noibat!" Carter would let out as he would seem rather unaffected by Screech, or at least had a bit more resistance to the attack. "Use Air Slash and stop that Psyduck!" Josh would call. "Noi!" The Noibat would let out as he would launch a series of razor sharp cyan spheres homing in on one target, which was Psyduck. It would hit Psyduck clear and good, and sending tumbling back. ".... Psy?" He would let out, tilting his head. It had hurt, sure, but it didn't seem to register the pain much. Psyduck, instead of using the expected Screech, would use Water Pulse, creating an aqua ball using it's life force before sending it flying toward the Noibat, hitting it and sending it spiralling toward the ground.
"Carter, you have to trust me! Unfold your wings and let the wind right you!" Josh would call to Carter. Josh had raised Carter since he was just a baby, he knew to trust his Trainer... He would unfold his wings and the wind would carry him and set him straight, just like Josh had said. Great! "Use Air Slash, once again!" He would call as the Noibat would unleash Air Slash on the Psyduck, hitting it dead on as Psyduck didn't even try to dodge. "Finish with Hyper Fang!" Josh would command as the Noibat would nod, and Carter would zip down toward Psyduck, flashing a fang as it would slam it into the Psyduck, sending it flying into the wall of a nearby building.
"OUCH..." He muttered, wincing from the impact. "Guess we got a little bit carried away..." He had to admit as Psyduck would get up. "Psy-yey-yey... It let out dizzily as it wobbled around, until Josh threw a Poke Ball at it to give it mercy.

The ball would move, and move, whirl and whirl... Finally, it would let out that familiar tune as Josh would let out a sigh of relief. There was no wisdom... In trying to fuck. With a Psyduck. That thing knew Screech and Water Pulse. What other otherworldly powers could it have been capable of? There were horror stories of what happened, of people who were unfortunate enough to anger a Psyduck. They say you never know what hit you, and then you never woke up. Scary. But what was the big story, Josh thought as he would pick up Psyduck's Pokeball, was Carter. He looked up at the Noibat who was flying around in celebration of his victory, and smiled faintly. Carter had been improving by leaps and bounds lately. It was obvious his training had begun to pay off, and his potential was astounding. A Pokemon he could rely on, it seemed. He decided to let Carter continue his roll and kept him outside of his Pokeball as he and Lightning went back to fishing, while Carter flew around excitedly. It was a relaxing afternoon once again.
"Hey! A bite!" Josh would exclaim eventually, but instead of having to reel it in, this time a Pokemon would fly out and go right for the Pin Missile on Josh, who would roll out of the way! "Hey! That wasn't very nice!" He would cal irritably. Carter wanted to end this quickly, and would quickly go for a Air Slash attack, sending sharp cyan sphere at the Quilfish, who would be hit and sent back into the water. "Good job, Carter! Keep it up!" The blonde would call as the Noibat would fly overhead and fire another Air Slash, hitting Quilfish again. But no battle was too easy. Quilfish would fire off Poison Sting, hitting the Noibat in mid-air and causing it to start tumbling. "Don't let up, Carter! I know you can do it!" Josh would call to the Noibat "Turn it into a Hyper Fang!" He would call as the Noibat continued to tailspin in the air, before managing to exert some control as he would swoop in on his opponent, going for Hyper Fang, but missing as Quilfish dove into the water. "Watch out for it!" The blonde would call as Quilfish would emerge, firing off Water Gun and hitting the Noibat, sending it back. "You have to use your senses! I know your kind is capable of detecting sound a little easier! Use that to your advantage!" Josh would call toward Carter, who would close his eyes as the Quilfish would go for Water Gun. This time, at the last second, his eyes would open and Carter would dodge the attack with relative ease. Hah! Good job!" Josh would encourage as he would yell out another command. "Air Slash, let's go!" He said as the Noiat would fire the auras off again. It caught the Pokemon by surprise, hitting Quilfish and sending it into the water. "Finish it off with Hyper Fang when he comes back up!" Josh would command as Quilfish would re-surface, only to take a hard Hyper Fang from the waiting Noibat, knocking it out for the time being.
Josh would nod in appreciation and toss a Pokeball.
Josh couldn't help but smile proudly as Carter would reign victorious once again, and the Quilfish was caught. Another Pokemon to train, to raise, and to watch as they grew stronger, it seemed. Josh looked forward to getting to know Quilfish in time, as he did for Tympole and Psyduck. But he did note that after that battle, Carter was quite tired. Josh would smile softly as he would take out Carter's Pokeball. "Get a good rest, Carter. You've deserved it" He would praise as he would return the Noibat to his Pokeball. "Y'know Lightning, we should probably finish fishing soon enough and get home. I'm sure both Mom and Izumi are going to get overbearingly worried if we stray out here too long" He would admit with a chuckle. "Pikachu!" Lightning would exclaim in agreement as he would pocket the Pokeball of the Quilfish before grabbing his fishing rod and casting again. Of course, just as it was cast, something would bite it and bring it down underwater. "Huh? That was fast..." Josh began as he would pull. And quickly it came out, a Magicarp! "Aw, that's adorable" He said with a laugh as he would decide, considering catching it. I mean, why not right? But as he would fish out the Pokeball.. Something else would pop out of the water. Three different things.
"... Oh fuck" He muttered as he would stare up at deja vu. Three Gyarados, and they looked pissed. It seemed he had accidentally picked on their little buddy, the runt of the litter. "Great. But Carter's tired, who can...."
Ideas. You want to bring on the sea serpents? Josh had dragons. He had lots of dragons! So... HAVE SOME DRAGONS!
"Go, Gareth! Goomba!" Josh would call as he would bring out two of his battling prospects. First, his Bagon. While he tended to be distracted by his dream to fly, he was an adept battler, and one day a force to be reckoned with. Then his Goomy, a newer member of the team, but Josh knew he was a secret weapon just waiting to break out...
One of the Gyarados would fire off a Hydro Pump at them, seeing the danger. "Quick, to the side!" Josh would call as the Bagon and Goomy would leap to the side out of the way from the Hydro Pump. ""Flamethrower, Dragon Breath!" Josh would call, and the two would nod before at the same time firing Flamethrower (Gareth) and Dragon Breath (Goomba) at the Gyarados, hitting it near the neck area. Dragon Breath did a little more damage due to type issues, of course, but it was enough to send a warning shot to show that they weren't messing around. The Gyarados would shake it's head, before all three would attack at once.
One Gyarados would fire a Hydro Pump, while the other two, the ones on the sides, would fire Dragon Rage. "Into the air!" Josh would call as Gareth would grab the Goomy and leap into the air, seeming happy about being in mid-air, albeit temporarily. The explosion from the duel rages and the pump would leave a steady sizzling hole where it had impacted, probably good that they had managed to get out of the way. "Goomba, use Body Slam! Gareth, Dragon Claw!" Josh would call as Gareth would release the Goomy and spread his arms like an eagle that was flying through the air as they came down on the Gyarados, just dodging a Hyper Beam from the Gyarados on the left side before Gareth's claws would glow green and he would slash the middle Gyarados right in the face, landing on his feet on the ground before the stunned Gyarados would fall victim to the wrath of the Body Slam from Gooma, sending the Goomy bouncing off after impact and landing beside Gareth. But it wasn't done yet, and it would back up to allow the other two Gyarados to attack. One would go for Ice Fang, the other for Aqua Tail. "Split up, attack on your own merits! Gareth, use Dragon Claw to intercept one Gyarados, Goomba, use Body Slam to meet the other head on!" Joshua would command as they would split up, leading the Gyarados away from one another in order to attack the two separately with those attacks, with all four attacks hitting head on, sending all parties back. "Goomba, follow up with Dragon Breath before it can attack again!" Josh would suddenly call as the Goomy would quickly fire a Dragon Breath at his Gyarados, hitting it dead on with a surprise attack, causing it some good damage. Gyarados would quickly retaliate with Hydro Pump, sending the Goomy crashing into a tree. "Shake it off, Goomba! He's just a big old goober! You can beat him!" Josh would encourage toward the Goomy as Goomba would nod as he would get his jelly body up. He was determined, Josh had to give him that. The Gyarados would fire another Hydro Pump, but this time Josh was ready. "Protect!" Josh would call toward the Goomy, who would bring up a forcefield that would deflect it. "Dragon Breath!" He would add and the force field would be replaced by another dose of Dragon Breath, surprising and hitting the Gyarados.
"Alright, Goomba! Body Slam, finish it!" He would call as the Goomy would manage to leap into the air, before bringing his gooey body down on the Gyarados, and causing it to crash into the water, fainted. The middle Gyarados would see this and instantly attack the Goomy. Of course, before it could do that, one of Josh's Pokemon would escape their Pokeball, his Pupitar, Rex... Who would quickly glide in and take the Ice Fang attack as it tried to attack the Goomy from the side. "Rex!" Josh called as he would try to return him to his Pokeball, but to no avail...
"Gareth, use Double Edge!" Josh would quickly call to Gareth, who was fighting the other side Gyarados. He would nod before launching himself toward the Gyarados with his head out to ram it. The Gyarados would dodge, but Josh would quickly call for Gareth to grab it's side before shouting for him to use Double Edge again, which he did, sending the Gyarados a few feet across the water. The Gyarados was enraged and would go for Hyper Beam. "Dive under!" Josh would call to Gareth, who would nod and dive under the water, barely dodging the Hyper Beam. "Now come up, hit it with Double Edge! I know they don't hurt you, so hit it as hard as you can!" He would call. "Bagon!" Gareth would let out as he would come out of the water full speed launching himself toward the Gyarados, who due to the Hyper Beam was unable to defend itself as it would strike head on. "Finish with Dragon Claw!" He would call as his claws would glow green and the Bagon would strike the Gyarados, toppling it as well. Good, good, but Rex still had a fight to finish...
"Dodge!" Josh would call as the Gyarados would go for Ice Shard, and Rex would quickly move out of the way. "Stone Edge!" He would add as a spiked spire of stones would spawn and spin around the Pupitar before pelting the enraged Gyarados. Gyarados would go for Bite, and chomp onto it though on the rebound... "Hang tough, break out of it!" Josh would call to Rex, who seemed to be struggling.
"Come on, Rex! Don't let him get to you! I believe in you!" He would encourage. It was true, Rex had become a very capable battler during their time together... It was obvious that Josh had confidence in him. "You can beat this guy! I trust you!" He would call. "PUPITAR"! Rex would suddenly let out, firing stone edge after stone edge at the Gyarados until it finally had to release him from it's chompers. "Rock Slide!" Josh would suddenly call out as he would summon those large rocks from the portals... "Cut them up with Stone Edge and send them to slice and dice!" Josh would add as the Pupitar would nod before summoning Stone Edge, and using the jagged rocks to slice up the larger Rock Slide ones, and sending them flying toward the Gyarados, dealing much more damage and putting it down for the count.
"Alright!" He would encourage as all three had managed to defeat their Gyarados opponents, and showed a miraculous amount of tenacity and determination with it.
But it wasn't over yet....
Suddenly, out of the water rose a giant Gyarados. It must have been twice the size of the other three! The leader, he assumed. "By god... That thing is gigantic..." He whispered. It was going to take all three of them to take this one on! "Alright guys, you need to work together for this guy!" Josh would instruct. "Pupitar!" Rex would let out with a nod, seeming ready for this. "Bagon!" Gareth would respond, taking his place at the Pupitar's side.
"GOOOOOOOMYYYYYYYY!"
The adorable little Goomy would also slide over to their side, wanting to battle! Josh would nod over at them. "Quick, out of the way!" He would call as they would jump back at the Gyarados would launch a massive Hyper Beam that missed them narrowly, leaving destruction in it's wake as it destroyed trees and terrain. "It's open! Dragon Breath! Flamethrower! Stone Edge!" Josh would call out loudly, it was time to fight! Time to strike!
"BAAAAAAGOOOOOOOON!" Gareth would let out as he would loose a white hot set of flames from his mouth toward the Gyarados....
"PUPITAR!" Rex would add as he would summon those jagged rocks, sending them flying toward the Gyarados.
"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Roared the fierce Goomy as he would unleash that purple dragon breath, heading straight toward the Gyarados.
The three attacks would loop around one another, before all hitting the Gyarados head on. The Gyarados couldn't take the combined might of all three, and seemed to go down, but it would stop before it hit the water..
"PIKA...... CHUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Lightning would suddenly let out as he would loose a monstrous Thunderbolt, hitting the Gyarados dead on. It seemed Lightning had simply had enough of these shenanigans. The Gyarados would let out a bloodcurdling scream before hurting the water, down for the count. "We did it!" Josh would cheer as the four Pokemon, Gareth, Goomba, Rex and Lightning would all cheer in celebration as well. Of course, there was still one more thing...
The Magicarp from earlier was flopping around, and would suddenly go for a Tackle when nobody seemed to notice. That is, except for Rex, who noticed just before it was going to hit the Goomy...
"PUPITAR!" Rex let out as he would nail the Magicarp with Stone Edge, sending it flying toward Gareth. "BAGON!" Gareth let out as he would leap up and slam it toward the ground with Take Down. "Pika.... CHUUUUUUUUU!" Lightning would let out as he would unleash a Thunder on Magicarp, frying the poor carper. "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The Goomy would let out as soon as Magicarp hit the ground, finishing it off with Body Slam before Josh would throw the Pokeball at it to cap off this crazy day.

Tip tip tip... Doooo~
"Alright!" Josh exclaimed as he would pick up the Pokeball. He watched as the Gyarados, dejected, would sink into the water after being defeated. His party had fought and won, and they had cause for celebration. "Alright guys, let's have a small picnic, then we can..." He began as he would look over at the Pokemon, who were looking at Gareth, who was acting strangely. "Hey, Gareth?" Josh let out as he would walk over to the Bagon, who was doubled over, looking like he was going to be sick. "Are you alright?" He would ask as he would hold out a hand to the Bagon, but just as he touched it's head...
"BAAAAAAAAAAAG!"
Gareth would suddenly be engulfed in a bright light, blinding Josh and his party. "Whoa!" Josh let out as he would try to see, but to no avail. Finally the light would fade and he would see that Gareth had evolved! "Hey, you're a Shelgon!" Josh let out as he would wrap his arms around the Shelgon. "Shelgon!" Gareth let out, though looked down at himself and seemed a bit irritated that he was relegated to a crawl. Josh would seem to sense his discomfort and look down at him. "Huh... Well, I'm sure your next evolution will be better" He said with a small smile. "Maybe you'll get to fly!"
"Shelgon!" The former Bagon let out in delight, liking that encouragement. "Now, let's see if we can't get a picnic going!" Josh began with a chuckle as he began to set it up.
