Quick reflexes allowed the blonde to see what was going on the moment that Daxton would order the yawn. The bubbles would hit each other, popping from the impact, and Daxton's Numel would dodge out of the way of Chester's Double Edge. What that HAD done though... Was leave Caldera open. "Chester, use Earthquake!" Josh would call toward Chester, who would stop running since the Take Down had missed, turn around... And then stomp his foot. The ground would shake and tremor as a shockwave would appear from Chester, causing parts of the ground to crack and crumble in a surge in the ground heading straight for Caldera!
Josh wasn't waiting for him to dodge and prepare for the next attack, as he would call another command. "Another Earthquake, right behind it!" Josh would call toward Chester, who would stomp the ground again as the tremors would only get worse. Another surge in the ground would head for Caldera, not far from the first...
Daxton was used to earthquakes, so he spread his feet and that allowed him to stay upright. He say the shockwave and stared at the oncoming earth quake. Simple physics, if he commanded caldera to use a strong enough earthquake, it would break the first wave, and may reduce the second ones impact. "Caldera, earthquake." He made eye contact with the Numel and watched him buck onto his hind legs, stomping the ground. The first shock wave broke, as predicted. And the rest of the attack followed through to the second wave, striking and did nothing to it. "Earthquake again." He stated calmly, watching the pokemon stomp once more breaking it. If josh wanted to come out swinging, Daxton was smart enough not to do the same. He had to keep it defensive. "Good job caldera. Don't get cocky."
Auxru had jumped on top of Metagross and Emery had levitated into the air. Dust, dirt and rock billowed into the air, and they had float a little higher. Daxton could still see, once again used to these conditions.

Of course Daxton would do the same, he thought. The Numels had nearly identical movesets, it seemed, and the two would continuously cancel one another one. The blonde would show no emotion though, the gears were moving in his head... A plan had begun formulating the moment that Daxton had ordered the two Earthquakes. The four quakes, from both sides, had been devastating, and had left destruction in it's wake, as well as freaking out the Pokemon. Several of the spectators had fled, or went for higher ground when the Earthquakes got serious. Josh stood, stayed where he was though... Not seeming phased. He had dealt with earthquakes before, of course... And much worse. His eyes were closed as he waited for the tremors to stop. And as they did... He would open his eyes.
"Earthquake, again!" Josh would call to Chester. "Follow it up with a Yawn!" He would add as the Numel would nod and stomp the ground, causing the tremors to pick up again, as well as the underground missile to head right for the other Numel again. To boot, Chester would open his mouth, expelling the bubbles at it, even faster this time.

Daxton watched the Numel stomp his legs again, following with a yawn. "Block those bubbles with your own yawn. Follow up with an earthquake." Daxton commanded, his eyes watching as Josh made Chester take the offensive. He would gladly keep up the defensive plays.
Caldera opened his jaws and released a yawn. All while rearing back to stomp the ground once again. Sending dirt and debris high into the air, generating a powerful crack. Diesel was amazed, watching the battle as Auxru held him in his lap. Pilot, Emery and Auxru were all amused with their younger siblings. One amused, and one deeply focused in a battle.
Finally, Granite emerged from his ball with a powerful thud, hearing Caldera in battle. He had been the one used to train Caldera in dodging techniques, and he honestly wanted to see this all in person.
Daxton once again took the shock of the dispersed earthquake, staring into the dust that surrounded him now, staring through it with ease. His eyes scanned to check Caldera's condition. He was still good to go, this much pleased Daxton.

Josh had expected as much. Bubbles for bubbles. Yawn for another yawn. And of course... An earthquake to match another earthquake. The mass of earthquakes would cause dust to kick up all over the place. Two base form Pokemon... Yet so much destruction. It didn't seem like much when you described it, but in reality, it was an epic battle of Numels going at it in a destructive battle that could go either way. It was almost like it would never end. Each Numel had a counter for the others attacks. Whenever Josh had Chester use Yawn, or vice versa, the other would Yawn to counter it. If they tried to use an Earthquake attack, the other would follow up with an Earthquake of their own in order to counter it before they could be hit themselves.
But with this kick-up of debries and dust and smoke... Josh saw his chance.
"Chester, through the dust!" Josh would call as the Numel, with surprising agility, would leap into the air, above Daxton's Numel... "Yawn! Land near his Numel with an Earthquake! Don't give it a chance to counter!" Josh would call toward Chester as the Numel would shoot a stream of bubbles at the other Numel in mid-air, before bringing itself down for a large stomp nearby the other Numel, causing a far bigger tremor then before...

Daxton eyed the movements of the other Pokemon and smiled. "Caldera! Earthquake! and Lava Plume!" He cried out. Auxru tilted his head at the action his master called out, it was a change in his game plan. He was now offensive, while remaining totally defensive. Emery was amused by this and continued floating, trying to hide the amusement in his eyes.
Caldera reared back and stomped the ground, all while releasing a powerful stream of lava upwards and out. Fire enshrouded the Pokemon, a blaze created by the heat and power of the lava as it swirled around him and flew outwards. The Earthquake made an earth shattering crack, shifting the entire field as rocks jutted upwards and downwards, the damage becoming too much.
The flames obliterated the bubbles created by the Yawn and Caldera sneered the best the lazy looking Pokemon could. He also learned that expression from Granite. The two really got along well, both being so cumbersome.
Daxton closed his eyes and coughed to clear his lungs, breathing back in through his shirt. His Numel was definitely making a mess, and it kind of made him proud. Daxton liked to do his thing, and he was going to keep doing it. It's just how he was, since he wasn't angry, he wasn't all offensive, trying to Meteor Mash this kid's face in.

"Stop"
His words came calm, but firm, as he would end the battle before Daxton could make his move. They had done all that they could with their Numel. They were evenly matched, and neither would be able to get the advantage over the other. They would just keep fighting until they both became exhausted. And the constant Earthquakes were beginning to frighten the other Pokemon, including the wild ones living on the ranch under his mother's care. He would smile over at Chester. "You did great, Chester, return" Josh said as he would return Chester to his Pokeball, before looking over at Daxton and nodding respectfully.
"I can see why you were made the leader of Magma" He would comment calmly, cracking his neck. "Why don't we take a break and have a little lunch? Afterword, we can go another round with new Pokemon. Perhaps a double battle would suffice?" He would offer.

He quickly raised a fist in silent command, crossing it across his chest. Caldera saw his master make the command and ran back to his side, earning quick pats on the head. He'd done good on keeping up with the defensive game and Daxton was more than proud. He gave the Pokemon congratulatory pats and stood up right.
"Sure. Food sounds go-" He was suddenly cut off. A man dressed in a black coat with only one sleeve was darting over to him with his Mightyena following along behind him.
"Daxton! Daxton! Yo!" The other man shouted out, running over, winded by the run to find him. "Something is wrong! We need your help! Dayton can't even figure it out!"
Daxton shuffled on his feet and returned all of his Pokemon except for his Metagross. "Dayton can't figure it out? Let's go." He spoke, helping Branton onto Emery's back after making him return his Mightyena. "Sorry Josh, but we gotta bail. Emery! GO!" Kneeling on the Metagross's back, they took off quickly, the base was a ways away, so they had a long trip ahead of them and couldn't waste any time.
