CODED BY SYLVIE Her head barely moved to look over at him when he sat down beside her. She felt like such a loser, why would you want to sit down beside someone like that? He was a gym leader, he was cool, respected, stupidly good looking and had it all in her eyes. Wouldn't sitting beside her like this make him look bad? Her head glanced around looking out through the flames as she realized that it wouldn't really matter since they were the only ones out in the middle of nowhere, away from the public eye. . He was too nice sometimes. . . And he still didn't have to sit so close. 'Pretty sure he's had his cootie shots if that's what you're worried about.'
Her eyes dropped back down to her treasure horde in vain attempt to try and distract herself, letting the stress of it all caved down around her. The fragments and pieces of broken ancient artifacts didn't seem so profound now that she looked at them with comparison and judgmental eyes. The stones she found intact didn't seem that great of a find, to her at least, but according to Brook was the most valueable of the bunch. If that was true then what was all this? She held up the stone vase covered in smooth dusty carvings that still needed to be cleaned better. it was one of the few whole pieces she had come across in her first few days there.
"Hey.."
She paused rubbing her thumb over the strange humanoid shape that was emedded into the side of the vase and slowly turned her head to look at him.
"Don't worry about it too much. What happened to 58 wasn't your fault. And he doesn't look like he's hurt or anything."
She looked over to Fifty-eight who was content to sit beside Arlo on the opposite side of Brook. The thing was as dark as ever, sucking up the fire light like some some little stone doom cone. Beady black eyes blinked and looked over at her completely unfazed causing her to stare at it. There was no way that was normal, or supposed to happen right? "You did everything you could."
"Yeah," she half heartedly agreed. "I guess so." she sighed and sifted through the rest of her wares. using the bottom of a broken bowl or container of some sort that she found, to place the glittering fragments and broken colorful chips into it sorting it from the duller stone or clay ones.

Brook StylesCODED BY SYLVIE She had gotten most of the glittering shards and pieces into the broken bottom who's sides was barely deep enough to hold them all. She started to sort through the rest of it when she came across one of the cuter pieces she'd found. It was stone as well and looked to be made from marble. The entire thing was the size of a fat novel and was shaped, purposely carved into some sort of Pokemon or animal, but the strange part was that the body of it was covered in hive like holes that were now packed full of dirt. She used her finger and thumbnail to try and scratch some of the dirt out but she'd need something longer to poke through it.
Looking over into kicked pile of camp supplies she searched for something small and sharp. The closest thing she had was a pen, the spare one she brought with her to take notes with her other option was the fragments she had from other broken pieces of pottery. Her bottom lip rolled back over her teeth as she chewed on it in thought, debating on which to use. She leaned over to get the pen for now. She used the tip to start digging in one of the hive shapes moving to the other one beside it once she got deep enough and then turned it over to gently pat and shake the dirt out of it. It was a repeat process, leaving the campfire in complete silence like she had been in for nearly a week straight. She didn't even realize that Brook was there anymore beside her. She was just trying to distract herself from crying with the hopes of finding something profound.
The pen twisted and scraped against the thin borders of the carved hive design. The more the dirt gave away the more she wondered if they were scales. Brandy paused in her restoration process, this was taking too long and she had no idea if the holes went all the way through or were just deep. She needed something better to get the dirt out, like a hose or something. . . . The thought made her head look up and stare out from the fire back down over to the dark water where she had spent the majority of her evening trying to get out a permanent stain. "I'll be right back." she said and rocked up to her feet rushing down over the bank once more to the water where she dunked the carved stone in and started to shoosh it around rapidly to try and get the dirt to melt out as mud.
Shoosh Shoosh Shoosh Shake Shake Shake
The water was turning murky brown as she dunked it once more and shook it around. Shoosh Shoosh Shoosh Shake Shake Shake-Tink Tink Tink Tink
. . . . Two thought's ripped through her mind just then, 'She found something!' and 'Oh fuck did she break it?!' carefully she cupped her hands under it and slowly brought the piece up out of the water. It drained like a sive out of the etched stone and over the edges of her palms. The moon broke through the clouds for her to see that something was inside of it. . . .She turned around immediately, her eyes never leaving her find as she stumble rushed back to camp to get a better look in the fire light. She stopped at the edge once she was able to see what it was she had. The sight left her awestruck and staring.
"Brook, ...Brook look! Look! Look! Look!" she shuffled around the fire to him barefoot and wide eyed holding her find cupped in her palms. "I found another one!" she exclaimed excitedly as she leaned over beside him.
Inside the carved statue was a round pearl gray marble, it glittered in firelight a soft silvery sheen as she moved her hands to let the water drip from her finger tips. She held it so the light could shine through, what a peculiar way to keep something. She couldn't really tell if it was exact in the dark and because of the carved shadows in the way but she was pretty sure that it was just like the others. Only this one came with a dark gray swirl inside of it. "I got three!" she said turning around to sit back down beside him practically against his side.
The atmosphere of the camp had done a 180 out of the depressive funk and into an awestruck discovery. "Look see?" she said pulling out the cursed stone from her pocket that was wrapped in her handkerchief to prevent further mishaps and then pulled out her first stone she had found (metagrossite) before he arrived. "You think- you think this'll make up for Fifty-eight?" she sputtered in a quiet hopeful tone.
Whiskey eyes swept up from her finds she held in her hands and lap to his face clearly hoping he was of better judge then she was at value but her job depended on it. 'Our knees are touching...' came the hushed wonder struck whisper from the back of her mind. Of course Demi was completely focused on the important moment as well.
