They didn't appear to have too many options. The room was too short to fly over, or ride across, so that option was out. All they could do, it seemed, was use their heads and try to find another option. But the tiles were likely booby trapped, besides a select few. And Josh didn't plan on stepping on booby trapped ones anytime soon. Of course, it begged the question, what was a trap, and what was not? Rikkan didn't seem to know, besides the fact that some of them weren't trapped.
"Well, I figured that out" He would admit when Rikkan finally spoke up. This time, when the man would put his foot down, no traps sprung up. Bingo, there was one. Josh would nod and let Lightning climb onto his shoulder as he would step on the same tile, preparing for a trap but none came. He took a deep breath, as he went from one to another, mimicking Rikkan's movements until they would find themselves in the center of the room. There seemed to be even more blank tiles this time... Great. Just great.
Josh examined them, but did not touch. He couldn't discern from appearance which was good and which was trapped, unfortunately. Rikkan would go first for the next one, and Josh was just a split second from running through to help Rikkan when he lost his balance, only for his Emolga to come and help him. Josh let out a sigh in relief... But now it was his turn.
The blonde took a deep breath, obviously a little apprehensive. "Alright..." He muttered as the Pikachu would hang onto his shoulder before Josh finally took the first step, hoping he could remember the path that Rikkan had taken. "One step... Two step... Three step... Four..." He whispered, counting every step he took, trying to remain calm. Josh would nearly lose his footing at one point, but the Pikachu on his shoulder would pull at Josh's hair in order to make himself upright again. "Ow..." Josh muttered, holding his head. "Not so rough next time, but thank you" He whispered to the Pikachu. "Pikachu!" Lightning chirped in response, proud of himself for helping out somehow.
Finally, Josh would make his way to the end alongside Rikkan, and took a deep breath. "Well... That was a little more whacko then I had originally thought it would be" He snarked with a nervous laugh.
For a moment, Rik glanced back at the room, realizing that they would need to traverse the room once more to leave the ruins unless they located an exit. "There better be another way out, because that was too close for comfort." He drew the pokeball back out and shot the recall beam at Storm, calling the Electivire across the room safely via recall. With a nod towards Josh, he moved forward and pulled an unlit torch off it's sconce and drew out another pokeball, a Monferno emerging.
"Hallways are getting narrow. I dunno what it means, but I don't like it. Rajang, light it up." The hall was too narrow for Electivire to walk in, so he held the torch out to the Monferno, who ignited the end with a breath of flame. This hallway didn't go very far before turning to the right, so it looked like they might be encountering rooms. The tight spaces were beginning to unnerve him, even though he wasn't claustrophobic...
The current hallway ended up dragging on and on, and it felt like it was curving into a downward angle. Adding to this was the fact that the pressure felt like it was ever so slowly increasing, all but confirming that they were descending. "Would be nice to have a burrowing Pokemon right about n-... Did you hear that?" A barely audible clunk could be heard to the left. One would think that there was nothing but solid earth that way, but it could be a room. Wary of the last time he pressed a button, Rikkan leaned close and eyed the wall, walking along until he found a straight crack running from top to bottom, with another just a short distance further down.
A hidden door, most likely. If there was a button to activate it, though, no way. It could be as much trap as treasure. Even, the noise that came from inside was unsettling. The Ranger pounded on the wall to see if anything responded. Almost immediately there was a sharp hiss of air that sounded strikingly like a gasp. "Anyone in there?" A muffled voice could be heard thought the wall. "Help us! The door shut behind us and there's no way out!" Another voice could be heard, this one crying. It seemed this pair had gotten trapped recently. Unfortunately, a thick wall stood between the two groups. They would need a way through if they were gonna save these two.

Yeah, they certainly weren't going back the way that they had come before. Josh agreed with Rick, and hoped that there was another way out in some fashion. As they walked, Josh would gaze around, noting the hallways getting more and more narrow. It was starting to slowly unnerve him, to be quite honest. I mean, why wouldn't it? He didn't feel like getting squashed between these walls. Nah uh, no way, no how-do-you-do. The light supplied by the Monferno was appreciated, and he smiled a bit as he looked at it. "Reminds me of my Infernape" The blonde would comment as he examined the Monferno who lit their way.
Eventually, the downward angle of a hallway would lead them further down. He would nod when Rik would mention a burrowing Pokemon... "Hey! I have one with me!" Josh would suddenly exclaim, remembering he had his Bunnelby with him. "I can-What the hell was that?" He would stop as he would hear some sort of noise. A clunk, a sound, something unnerving. As they went, warily, Josh would hear the cries of a human being when Rikkan would examine the wall. "Hey, is that..." He muttered as he would note the calls for help from the wall. He would take a breath. They obviously needed help!
"Stand back" Josh would remark toward Rikkan as he would call out Fawkes again. "Fawkes, use Dragon Dance!" Josh would call toward Fawkes as the Charizard would let out a roar, with an aura engulfing it and it's speed and power increasing... "Flare Blitz! Break down that wall!" Josh called to the dragon as Fawkes would nod before being engulfed in a veil of fire, launching itself toward the wall at full speed, full power, trying to break it down to free whoever was behind it...
If they had a burrowing Pokemon.... Josh mentioned having one just a moment ago, that would let them get into the room without causing much damage to the ruins. Josh seemed to have other plans, though. "Hey didn't you say you ha-Okay we're doing this. Hey you inside! Get away from the wall!" The Flare Blitz was successful in not only destroying the ancient door, but it also destabilized the entire wall running between the hallway and the room, laying the rooms contents bare. A whole lot of nothing. It seemed to be just an empty room.
The occupants appeared to be a couple of children, around ten years old. Judging by their resemblance, they must be brother and sister. "You're just kids... What are you doing out here in the desert, let alone the ruins?" The boy stepped forth. "I heard mom say that we were running out of money, and my friend said that there was treasure in these ruins, but we didn't get far before we got locked in here." Didn't get far? It took him amd Josh awhile to reach this point...
"Did you ever find a room with holes in the floor that shot out fire?""Um, no, we came in just down the hallway." Rikkan breathed a sigh of relief at this knowledge. They didn't have to recross that room to get out, thankfully. "We're heading the way you kids came in. I highly discourage going the other way... that's the way to the fire room I was tal-" All of a sudden, the ruins began to shake. It lasted only for a moment, but it was enough to tell everyone that it was time to get out.
"Time to go... Stay right behind us." Both kids nodded in unison as Rik proceeded back into the hall, giving Josh a nod and moving back down the hall, continuing the direction they had been following, Rajang right behind him.

Too little, too late, it seemed. Ricken was too late to warn him about the other option when Fawkes had full force brought the house down with that Flare Blitz. To Josh's surprise, there were... Kids on the other end? How had that happened, he wondered? Looks like they had destroyed the room in the process, the blonde thought to himself. For sure, burrowing was definitely a better option. Oh well, too late now right? Josh would allow Rikkan to speak to the children, while he himself tended to Fawkes. The Charizard had taken a bit of a beating from the blast, and he smiled as would pat the Charizard on the head. "Fawkes, I'm proud of you. I want you to get a good rest. After the work you've put in today, you've earned it" He would softly compliment to Fawkes as the tired Charizard would let out a weak roar in response, letting out a puff of smoke with a grumpy snort. It was obvious that the blonde haired Trainer deeply cared for his Charizard, despite it's grumpyness and it's negative at times demeanour toward his Trainer and others. A lack of respect, but.... Yet, at the same time, a respect. He would return him then, to the Pokeball and look over, having overheard the story. Poor kids, he thought. Their parents were getting close to being broke, and they wanted to help. It was admirable, he had to admit. If only they could help...
When they brought up that they had just walked in here, no traps or anything, the blonde would raise an eyebrow. Was he serious? They went through all of that for NOTHING? Still, he was glad they didn't have to go through them in order to get out, he supposed. But before he could rejoice, the ruins would begin to shake. "This is kind of like a movie I saw once" The blonde would snark, shaking his head as he would let Lightning climb onto his shoulder. Seems it was time to run! The two of them would head back into the hall, moving down as fast as they could. The kids would follow, he saw, happy about that. He just hoped they could get out in time... Being caught under a whackload of rubble was not how he planned on today going! Lightning clung to his Trainer for dear life, praying to Arceus that they would get out in time and survive this Indiana Jones adventure!
"Let's not stick around to see howv the bad ending goes!"
They were off and running through the hall, passing a few branching hallways, but the lack of the kids shouting Wrong Way had Rik and Josh moving straight down the hall, eventually the shaking subsided, but the ranger continued running. The thing about an unstable structure, when it stops teetering, that only means it's hanging by a thread and could come crashing down at any moment. The hall continued at a slight downward angle for about half a minute longer until it leveled out and opened into a large chamber room.
The room was circular, at least fifteen meters in diameter, with lit braziers scattered around and five meters tall, with the center of the ceiling making way for a ten foot wide hole that extended up into darkness, a single thick stone pillar suspended in the center of the hole. It was a wonder how the pillar didn't fall into the room, perhaps it was tethered to the walls further up where it's obscured by the shadows. Across the room, opposite the hallway entrance was another pathway, presumably the way out as it seemed to become steps a short distance in.
Rikkan ran out across the chamber, heading for the exit when the place began to shake once more. The entrance of both hallways suxdenly collapsed, trapping the four inside. The ranger stopped and looked up, a plan quickly forming in his mind. "Josh! We can fly up through that hole and dig our way ou-"
A dark figure suddenly slammed into Rikkan from the side, sending him flying into the wall, sliding to the floor unconscious. Rajang ran over to his limp trainer, glaring around to locate the attacker. A Noivern stood near the center of the room, scanning everyone in the room before letting out a fierce roar and turned to face the humans that remained standing.
Air Cutter | Agility | Leech Life | Outrage Hyper Voice | Acrobatics
A vicious Noivern that calls these ruins it's home. It's adapted to fighting in low ceiling environments, and it's sense of smell and hearing make it as deadly in the dark.

"This is kind of like a movie I saw once."
"Let's not stick around to see how the bad ending goes!"
"If we're lucky, we'll survive long enough until George Lucas makes the Directors Cut where one of us gets the girl!"
Back and forth, snarks and and movie slash pop culture references, that was nice and all but it didn't matter as they ran like hell. Why? Because none of them wanted to be crushed in the bad ending, right? But eventually they would run until the rumbling stopped. Which to Josh did not mean safety. Of course, it didn't. It likely meant that it was on it's last legs. The group would find themselves below a large hole, which seemed to lead to outside. But just as Rikkan would warn them about it, a dark figure would swoop down, a Noivern, and knock him out.
"Rikkan!" Josh would exclaim in surprise. "Pika!" Lightning would exclaim as well, surprised by the sudden attack. They would be faced with this Noivern... Great. He would take a breath before releasing a Pokeball from their ball. "Go, Carter!" Josh called as he would bring out his Noibat. "Noi!" Carter let out as he was ready to face down Noivern.
As he white clad human collided with the far wall, another scent appeared to the dragon. Turning his head, he noticed three more humans intruding upon his territory. As the large one threw a device, it popped open to reveal an infantile version of his kind. But it was no friends of his, it had been brainwashed by that human to follow it's commands like a slave. He would have to kill it so that it did not have to suffer such a shameful life. As for the humans...
The Noivern let out a piercing roar and glared at the large human. "TRESPASSERRRRSSSSSS!! You will not leave here alive!" They would be unable to directly understand him, but his anger was clear as day. Ever since the hole leading to the surface collapsed yesterday, he was without food or water, but after dispatching these intruders, he should have enough energy to dig his way out of here. For a moment, he stood still, gauging the Noibat's size. It didn't look much of a threat to him.
Suddenly he lunged forward, charging at the Noibat with Acrobatics to try and knock it down.

While it was difficult for Josh to understand the Noivern, for, well... Obvious reasons, he could tell one thing. It was unhappy, perhaps pissed, about them being in it's territory. And there was murder in it's tone. But that didn't stop him from fighting. Since Rikkan was out of commission, it was up to him to protect the other humans that had accompanied him from this monster. He just hoped that Carter was up for the challenge. He knew his Noibat was very capable, but he didn't know how he would fare against it's evolved form... Still, Carter was a strong one, he'd grown quite well during their training together. If there was any Pokemon that could overcome the odds... It was Carter. He had faith in him, but he didn't have time to dwell on it as the Noivern would quickly charge in.
"Quick, Carter! Dodge with Tailwind!" Josh would call. The smaller Noibat would let out a "Noi!" Before increasing his speed, darting upwards when the Noivern would attack. While smaller, his smaller body allowed him a little more speed in this instance, and Tailwind certainly helped.
"Use Air Slash, Carter!" Josh would call. "Noi!" The Noibat would exclaim as he would flap his wings, unleashing a flurry of energy-made cutters that would home in on the Noivern from above.
