The Wilds.
Since Rachel hadn’t even gotten a chance to go around Unova and look around to see what other kinds of Pokémon were native to her region, she then decided to start poking around the new area, specifically, this place that the Nue area called “the Wilds”. Just how wild things were going to be, though, was something she wasn’t absolutely sure about. Seeing that she needed to train up Sky at least, so that he would stop being such a fluffy little troublemaker, she then decided to start looking around, hoping that she would be able to have some more additional companions with her, because things were getting quite lonely with just the two of them around.
She was expectant that the “opposition” in this area would be able to put up some kind of a fight, she then began to scan the vast area of Grasslands, crossing her fingers that she didn’t end up running into some of the more aggressive creatures that made this place home.
Besides, I only have Sky. And that’s kind of the reason why I’m out here… to train up Sky so that he’d get stronger. Sunshine, I can worry about once I get near a source of water… or something like that, she thought, remembering the quick discussion she’d had with her troupe mates about Pokémon types, something similar along those lines. Flying trumps Grass, Grass trumps Water… there were a LOT more of them, but I only sort of remembered the two that I currently have with me… she continued to muse to herself as she began a slow, graceful walk across the pristine plains.

As she began to pick her way through the meadow, she thought she saw something moving from the corner of her eye. Blinking, she then decided to be on the safe side, and quickly brought out her ever-trusty (if somewhat loopy) avian, Sky the Rufflet. As the Flying-type hit the ground in a burst of red light, she then continued to walk forward, before placing a finger to her lips, just to make sure Sky understood to keep quiet; as they were sneaking around the place instead of crashing through.
A few minutes of walking around silently later, they came to a rather wide expanse—when Rachel suddenly got the nastiest shock of her life—something that was decidedly large, and pink, had decided to smother its…rather long portrubance all over her, covering her in sticky, slimy spit! The Rufflet was considerably agitated at the sudden appearance of the Lickitung—had it fallen from the sky?! In any case, Rachel began screeching, “SKY! HELP! Get this thing off me!” while trying to break free from the rather…suffocating tongue that had wrapped itself around her body, lathering her quite thoroughly in spit.
The Rufflet could only stare in shock; before hearing his caretaker’s high-pitched screams; and the shower of spit raining all over him. Realizing that he had little time to act quickly, he then began to flap his wings; summoning a Tailwind so that the additional Speed could help him move faster. The Licki didn’t notice this little trifle—not until the Rufflet quickly closed in and unleashed an Aerial Ace at close range! The Licki had other ideas—cutting ahead an unleashing it’s Me First attack in response; causing the Aerial Ace to boomerang backwards on the Rufflet instead!
As the avian let out a squawk, the Licki then continued to Lick at Rachel, who was still screeching at the top of her lungs, “GET IT OFF, GET IT OFF, GET IT OFF MEEEEEEE!!!” while attempting to break free from the pink creature. Man, if Walter was here to see this he’d laugh at me… and worse! She thought, secretly thankful that he wasn’t; while still struggling to break loose from her captor’s bonds.
As the Rufflet skidded backwards, looking somewhat annoyed, it then decided to charge forward—but leaped up at the very last second and came down with a Crush Claw attack on the Licki’s back, but it did nothing—because Licki here was still too busy “enjoying his new plush toy”. The Rufflet, visibly annoyed at what was happening, continued to ram itself into the Licki’s back, unloading Crush Claw after Crush Claw—until one of the clawing attacks hit so hard, the pink monstrosity finally let go of Rachel—who was now covered from head to toe in spit.
“RUFFLET! RUFFLEEEEEEEET!” the little avian cried out angrily—and the Licki then came charging at the Rufflet with Slam! The little avian then quickly blocked it with its own Aerial Ace; a guaranteed hit no matter what the circumstance. Since the Licki was going off in another direction, the Rufflet continued to chase after it with Crush Claw; until it was gone, far gone. This allowed Rachel to wipe herself down—at least as best as she could—and then watched as the Rufflet returned, looking all miffed, but pleased with himself. “Th-thanks, Sky. Come on, l-let’s go,” she continued, pulling herself up and letting the Rufflet taking the lead.

Was it just her, or was there a slightly annoying, buzzing noise that was echoing throughout the area where she was walking through? Rachel then shook her head, before sighing—and then looking around her again. Her avian companion had caught on much quicker than she did, and his fur was now bristling, standing on all end as he then let out a squawk; before quickly flapping his wings and positioning himself right in front of her. The buzzing noise grew louder, and more annoying; and she was looking around trying to pinpoint the source of the noise—when a looming shadow then announced its presence, which made her look up… and slightly back away a few steps. For right then and there, there was a literal hive of incoming… bugs. They were yellow all over, and looked to be wearing some kind of weird… gowns. The nasty thing about this was, the more they congregated at the spot where she was located, the louder, more obnoxious, and more evil the buzzing noise became.
“Ruff… RUFFLET!!!” she heard her avian companion cry out; before quickly assuming guard position and watching as the first regal, flying…humanoid came buzzing in close, buzzing quite angrily in her face—before quickly attacking at such extreme close range! She could only blink in surprise; before letting out a scream (and subsequently toppling over to the grass) as the Rufflet finally sprang into action, quickly beating his wings as fast as he could—he’d picked up on the Tailwind again, before suddenly veering in dangerously close and attacking the annoying humanoid bug with the same thing that he’d used on the pink thing! “S-S-S-Sky… whatever it is you’re doing… keep doing it! Defend yourself! That thing is out to get us!” she stammered, trying to keep her calm; but eventually losing her cool—all because of the weird buzzing, annoying bug that was out to get them. In its defense, the Rufflet continued to unload Aerial Ace after Aerial Ace, driving the Vespiquen back—before temporarily sealing the deal with the only other thing it could use; Crush Claw!
As the Vespi let out an annoyed cry of pain, it then fell back—but not before unleashing a load of Fury Swipes right at the Rufflet, who barely dodged each and every incoming attack thanks to the Tailwind boosting his Speed! Seeing that the human and her companion weren’t going to be worth their time, the other five then left the scene—leaving her with just two of the Vepsi to deal with. Was it luck, or were they just really picky with their prey? Only time would tell; because the Rufflet had realized that it could hack its way across the Vespi’s defenses, and continued to unload Crush Claw while doing so. He knew that the “lucky wind” could only keep up for two more attempts—while the second Vespi then boosted its own defense by summoning a batch of underlings that danced around her quite possessively; it had used Defend Order to boost both its Defense stats! As the first Vespi had been driven back with the relentless barrage of attacks, the Rufflet then finally let loose with a last barrage of Aerial Ace before watching the first one flop over; before the second one finally charged into the foray—but meeting a ferocious, vicious stream of cutting air instead!
The Rufflet was very much incredibly pissed; that much was certain—and the more that the remaining Vespi continued to unload Fury Cutter, the more the avian retaliated with an alternation of Aerial Ace and Crush Claw—and even it wasn’t safe from the relentless Fury Cutter barrage that the Vespi was unloading in retaliation. Only when it had managed to lock on with a clean Slash attack did the Rufflet cry out of rage; because he’d gotten hit! Rachel then blinked before quickly crawling over to where the avian stood, blood pouring out of the wound it had sustained across its face. As it continued to let out an indignant squawk, she could only blink as the Rufflet quickly attempted to take off once again; before pummeling the two humanoid bugs senseless; not stopping until he was absolutely certain that the two yellowish “bodies” weren’t moving. As the Rufflet finally backed off before letting out an exhausted squawking, flopping over in her arms, she then shook her head before ticking the feather out of relief.
“Don’t go off on a tangent like that on me again, okay? Now… how was that done…” she muttered, shuffling around and plucking out two containment units, before chucking them at the fallen queen bees.

As the little Rufflet rested in her arms, she then watched as the two containment units shook—she honestly didn’t know how this went, but once they stopped shaking like crazy, she then took it as a sign that the two humanoid queen bugs were hers… well, technically one of them was hers, the other one she would most likely trade off to someone out there. “Rest easy now, Sky,” she began, letting the somewhat heavy avian sleep in her arms as she then walked over and picked up the two containment units; looking at the passed-out Vespiquen within.
“Well, this is certainly a most harrowing experience for me…” she continued as she then decided to trace her steps back and out of the place where she’d accidentally trod on; “disturbing the hornets’ nest” as they would say outside the theater. “Man, if Walter were here, and he saw that, he’d die laughing first. Knowing him? Pffft,” she snorted to herself before cradling the exhausted Rufflet as she made her way back to civilization—and to look for a possible buyer for the other humanoid bug queen that she’d acquired.
