After his older sister's nervous breakdown on their trip together, one that was very understandable, Thomas took a short break from the Badlands. However, the trainer was now back for more, and ready to attempt to find more of these Mega Stones. However, he was sure that this time, his luck would run out, and he'd be running into the same problems as his older sister did. But then, of all the times he had been digging through the badlands, he had only ended on one dud.
Once again, Thomas started things off by having Algernon moisten the earth in order to make it easier for him to dig. The trainer then proceeded to shovel through the muck that resulted from the blast of water fired at the otherwise barren soil. Through it all, the trainer diligently worked his way through the underground, Algernon watching him from the front, while the 'crown' watched from behind, acting as his eyes in the back of his head.

As Thomas continued to dig, his shovel stopped up against something. The trainer immediately started to prod around the object, looking to find the soft spot again. Thankfully, it didn't take him long at all to find it. And after that, the trainer managed to unearth the hard object, which appeared to be a Sun Stone.
The trainer examined the dirtied evolution stone. However, he had no use for the thing, as he owned none of the Pokemon that would evolve through the Sun Stone, and wouldn't for the foreseeable future.
"Well, nothing so far.", Thomas told Algernon as he laid the stone to rest back in the dirt that he found it in.
After climbing out of the hole, Thomas walked over to a nearby area, Algernon following him closely. Once they stopped, Algernon quickly did his thing without Thomas having to tell him to. From there, Thomas started to dig again.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found a RARE BONE ! A bone that is extremely valuable for Pokémon archeology. It can be sold for a high price to shops.

Once again, Thomas' shovel stopped up against something hard. He immediately started to dig around the object, getting it ready to be unearthed. However, upon seeing the half-unearthed bone, the trainer frowned. It was yet another old bone, hardly valuable, and in Thomas' eyes, a very bad sign. The trainer was afraid that the same thing that happened to Andrea would happen to him.
At the very least, he just hoped he didn't snap like she did.
"Nothing so far, Algernon. And I'm sure it's just me, but it feels like our luck has just run dry...", Thomas told the Slowking, who frowned.
"But all we can do is just keep trying until we either get it, or we can't try anymore...", Thomas continued as he climbed out of the small hole. Thomas then moved to an area further away from where he started. From there, the trainer started to dig.

Algernon looked on in worry as his master dug through the earth. This time, he didn't even wait for the hyper-intelligent pink salamander to soften the earth with a blast of water. Instead, Thomas went on digging as if it was nothing, even if his moments were slowed due to the harder earth. Algernon was just hoping this wasn't going to be like the last time, where his sister had a nervous breakdown in the middle of the Badlands.
This time, Thomas got lucky, and scooped up the Fire Stone in his shovel rather than his shovel hitting the top of it. As he tossed the pile of dirt to the surface, Algernon noticed the object, and called out to Thomas, showing him the Fire Stone.
Thomas examined the object. Unlike the Sun Stone, which he could see no use for, the trainer did want to try to get a Vulpix or a Growlithe in the future. But then, there were other ways of getting the Fire Stone, so he would pass on this for now.
"Well buddy, nothing so far, let's try once more, eh?", Thomas said to Algernon, who nodded to him nervously.
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna pull an Andie. She had a very long stretch of bad luck. I'm afraid this is just the end of our good luck... But it was a long, good run...", Thomas told Algernon, who nodded back to him.

Just as Thomas thought his luck ran out today, it seemed that he was wrong again. He was expecting to find yet another Rare Bone, just like his poor sister. But instead, he dug up a familiar sight. Not just in that it seemed to be a Mega Stone, but it looked like one he already owned. Not that the trainer was exactly complaining, however, as a Mega Stone was still a Mega Stone, and duplicates were easier on him to trade.
Thomas took the marble out of the pile of dirt he spotted it in, then smiled at it. The trainer cleaned off the blue and red marble before putting it in his case.
"One more for the streak, old buddy. Let's go back to the hotel and get some rest...", Thomas told Algernon, who nodded to him with a smile. After such a long day, they both needed some rest and relaxation.
