Josh's longer then normal trip to Kanto had led him to Viridian Forest, after a short trip to Pallet Town. Of course, Josh was disappointed to not find Red in the town he had said he was from, but he hadn't seen Red in quite some time and assumed that Red was probably still in Hoenn somewhere, busy. Regardless, with or without Red, Josh had decided to take his travels to Kanto after his forays in Hoenn and Kalos. It was time to expand, he had decided. See the sights, catch some Pokemon.... But what kinds of Pokemon would he catch here? If at all?
Josh's eyes gazed around the forest. It felt almost... Familiar somehow. Like he was experiencing some kind of deja vu. Like he'd been here before. He could feel it, Lightning could feel it... But he knew that he'd never been here before. Many forests before, sure, but this one? No, not as far as he knew...

Bonk.
Lightning had been hit on the head by a Weedle that had fallen out of the trees. Not spike-first, luckily, but that still hurt! "Pika!" Lightning yelped, glaring over at the Weedle, who looked around before looking at the Pikachu. "Weedle! Weedle Weedle!" it let out angrily, seeming to blame the Pikachu for causing it to fall. "Pika! Pika Pikachu!" Lightning responded angrily, his cheeks sparking. He didn't seem to have the same idea as Weedle did. "Lightning, back down. I got a friend that can handle this" Josh promised, motioning for Lightning to step aside. "Besides, you'd cream this Weedle. Let a younger one have his turn" he said, taking a breath. "Pika" Lightning said flatly, pouting.
Josh smirked before taking a Pokeball from his belt. "Go, Bruce!" he called as he let out his Eevee. "Eevee!" Bruce chirped as he got into a battle stance. A Weedle was a good way to train up Bruce, for sure. "Pika!" Lightning complained irritably. An EEVEE?! REALLY!? Josh sighed and patted Lightning's head. "You don't need this battle, Lightning. Bruce does" he whispered. Lightning let out a sigh, seeming to understand a bit better now.
"Alright Bruce, use Quick Attack!" Josh called. "Eevee!" Bruce responded as he charged at the Weedle, picking up speed before slamming into it, sending it rolling back. "Weedle!" it let out before attacking back. String Shot! The sticky web was shot out of the Weedle's mouth. "Bruce, leap over it!" Josh called. "Eevee! Eev!" Bruce responded as he leaped up, only to be nailed by a Poison Sting and sent back to the ground. The Weedle had faked him out!
"God, he's tougher then he looks. Be careful, Bruce!" Josh suggested to the Eevee, who would get up after that shot. "Use Double Edge!" he commanded. "Eevee!" Bruce said with a nod before charging toward the Weedle, who also charged in for a Bug Bite.
"Eeeeeev...... EEVEE EEVEE EEVEE EEVEE EEEEEEEEE!" Bruce let out as he slammed full force into the Weedle, hitting it first before it could manage to hit Bruce with Bug Bite. "Finish it with Quick Attack, Bruce!" Josh called. "Eevee!" Bruce responded as he got back on the attack, gaining speed as he charged.... "Eeeeeeeee.... VE!" he let out as he slammed himself into the Weedle again, sending it crashing into a tree. Josh would quickly take out a Pokeball and throw it at the Weedle.

Weeeoooooweeeeooooweeeoooooweeeeeooooo
Doo~
That was the sound that came as the Weedle was caught. Josh chuckled as he picked it up. "Alright, great victory Bruce" he said, patting the Eevee on the head. "Eevee, Eev!" Bruce chirped happily. "Think I'll let you stick around, how about? Never know, this could be good training for you" he said, smiling as he threw Weedle's Pokeball into the air. It would disappear into a burst of light, heading for the ranch, as was the norm. "That's another Pokemon caught. I wonder what else we'll find in the forest?" he asked.
It didn't take long to find out, as Josh looked down to notice a Teddiursa on his back, trying to rip at his bag to get the food inside. "Pika Pika!" Lightning warned with a growl toward the Teddiursa, who would respond by using Slash on Lightning, sending the Pikachu right back off Josh's shoulder and to the ground. "Eevee!" Bruce growled, and Josh looked from Bruce to the Teddiursa.
"Bruce, use Quick Attack!" Josh suddenly called without another moment's hesitation. "Eevee!" Bruce responded before he flashed for a moment, his speed temporarily increasing as the blur of an Eevee slammed himself into the Teddiursa, sending it flying off Josh's pack and to the ground. "Urrr!" it let out as it flew, and then let out a grunt in pain as it hit the ground. That only seemed to rile it up though as the Teddiursa would begin growling and it's claws would come out once it got to it's feet. It would charge, going for a Slash. "Dodge, Bruce!" Josh called as his Eevee would slide out of the way. "Hurry, another Quick Attack!" he advised. "Ee!" Bruce let out as he would go for it again, but would stop in his tracks when the Ursa's eyes would glow pink for a moment. "Shake it off, Bruce! That's Baby Doll Eyes!" Josh called. Bruce would shake his head, but wasn't able to stop the Teddiursa from hitting him with another Slash , sending him tumbling back. It would go for another Slash right afterword...
"Counter it with Double Edge, Bruce!" Josh commanded. "Ee!" Bruce let out as he managed to get up and slam himself full force into Teddiursa before it could slash him, sending both parties tumbling back. "Quick, take the initiative and use Quick Atta-"
"Piiiiiikaaaaaaa...... CHUUUUUUUUUUU!" Lightning suddenly let out as he nailed Teddiursa with a hard Thunder attack, causing the Teddiursa to let out a series of yelps in pain and surprise from the sudden Thunder attack. It would collapse to the ground. It seemed Lightning wasn't satisfied with just letting Bruce get revenge for him.
Josh sighed before tossing a Pokeball at it as Bruce and Lightning argued in the background.
They'd been arguing for a couple of minutes now. Josh groaned as he walked through the forest, with the Pikachu and Eevee behind him arguing nonstop. Lightning was upset that the Eevee was getting the battles for Pokemon that attacked HIM, and Bruce was upset that Lightning interfered in HIS battle.
Finally, it seemed a Ledyba had gotten tired of the noise interrupting it's tree nap. It would come out of the trees with a Mach Punch! "Dodge!" Josh suddenly called to them both. "Pika!" "Ee!" They let out as they would jump away from the Mach Punch. But the Ledyba was pretty upset, it wasn't going to let up anytime soon at this rate!
"Alright, who wants to take it out?" Josh asked the two. "Pika!" Lightning chirped, volunteering. "Eevee!" Bruce volunteered, and then they glared at one another. "Pika!" Lightning growled at Bruce. "Eevee!" Bruce replied in a growl. Josh groaned as they went back and fourth before he sent out another Pokemon. "Go, Espio!" he called out as his Froakie would come out of the ball. "Froakie! Fro!" he let out. "Quick, use Double Team!" Josh said as the Ledyba headed for Espio with another Mach Punch primed and ready. "Fro!" he let out as he would quickly split into several copies. The Ledyba's precision was spot on, but it hit a fake! It would come back and attempt a double edge, but it hit the wrong one and crash into a tree!
"Quick, use Hydro Pump while it's stunned!" Josh said. "Froooo!" he let out as he unleashed a torrent of water toward the Ledyba, hitting it dead on as it was recovering. But as soon as Espio finished the attack, the Ledyba would get right back up and fire off another Double Edge, this time hitting Espio dead on and sending him tumbling backwards. It would recover and start buzzing, sending out an aura that would hit Espio as well for a good amount of damage. Josh took a deep breath...
"Alright, Espio! Wait until it flies back into the air!" he said. Soon enough, the Ledyba would fly into the air to prep for Mach Punch. "Just a little more... BOUNCE!" he suddenly called. "Fro!" Espio would let out as he recovered before leaping high into the air. "Uppercut it on the way up!" he suddenly called, to which the Froakie obliged, nailing it on the way up. Josh had waited until the perfect time when the Ledyba was just above him! "Now, hit it with Bounce!" he called. "Fro!" he would let out as he would come down, slamming into the Ledyba on the way down, sending them both to the ground.
"Hydro Pump!" Josh called. "Fro!" Espio let out as he would shoot a large torrent of water toward the Ledyba, hitting it dead on while it was trying to recover on the ground. "Bounce one more time!" he said as the Froakie would leap up into the trees, landing on top of the branches. He would then come down, bouncing off the Ledyba's head. "Hydro Pump, to end it!" he called while the Froakie was in the air. "Kie!" he let out as he shot the hardest burst of Hydro Pump he could, wittling at the Ledyba with this constant combo.
Josh decided it was time to try and catch it, throwing a Pokeball at Ledyba.

~too~
"Alright, we got Ledyba!" Josh said, grinning as he would throw the Pokeball into the air, watching it disappear as it was transported to the ranch. "Froakie, Froakie, Fro!" Espio let out in celebration as Josh would hold out a hand for a high five. "Great job, Espio! High five!" he said, grinning. "Froakie!" Espio chirped cheerfully as he high-fived his Trainer... Before erupting into a bright light.
"Wha-" Josh responded in response. Lightning and Bruce would stop arguing for the moment to look over at their friend who was suddenly evolving!
As the process ended, Espio had evolved into Frogadier! The bigger frog would stand on two feet without his old hunched over position, looking around at his Trainer and partners. Josh chuckled a bit. "You did great, Espio" he said. "I remember when you were just a young one after hatching. My big prodigy. How far you've come" he said as he would look around. "We should get going, boys" he said before leading them on. One of his Pokeballs would open though, and out came Ignis, Josh's Chimchar. "Hm?" Josh said as he looked over at Ignis. "Chim! Chimchar!" he let out as the young Chimchar would stare out at something above them... A berry! Hanging from the trees! The monkey would start climbing the trees and grabbed it, but something else wanted it as well! A Caterpie, a female by the looks of it, had nabbed it with it's string shot, and was trying to pull it toward itself, but Ignis wasn't having any of it! They would have a tug of war before both would come tumbling down, as would the berry. They would both get up and the battle would begin with the Caterpie shooting a String Shot that would cover Ignis. Ignis would let out a scream before Josh would walk over and start untying him. "Relax, Ignis, it's just a bit of silk..." he said, trying to calm the Chimchar down. The Caterpie would suddenly lunge out with Tackle though, accidentally hitting Josh instead of Ignis. Josh would wince and fall back, but didn't seem too hurt by the impact. He was used to these. But that attack on his Trainer made the Chimchar go wide eyed. "Char! Chim CHAR CHAR CHAR!" he screamed at the Caterpie, obviously incredibly upset for what it did.
Josh knew they didn't have much choice. "Ignis, use Fire Spin to escape the string shot!" he commanded. "Charrr!" Ignis would let out as flames would surround him, burning off the String Shot. The Caterpie would go for another Tackle, sending Ignis toppling back. As he got up though...
"Ignis, use Thunder Punch!" Josh called. "Chim... CHAR!" he would let out as he leaped at the Caterpie, his hand crackling in electricity as he would punch the Caterpie into next week, sending it tumbling backwards. The Caterpie would get up and go for String Shot again.
"Flamethrower!" Josh called. "Char!" Ignis let out as he would unleash a torrent of flames at the string shot, melting it into nothing. The Caterpie seemed to be steaming mad, and would charge at Ignis for a Bug Bite. "Thunderpunch to send it back!" Josh called. "Chim... CHAR!" Ignis let out as his fists crackled in electricity and he would lunge at the Caterpie, punching it once again and creating separation, just as Josh had planned. "Nasty Plot!" Josh called. Ignis's eyes would gleam for a moment as the Caterpie got upright again. "Fire Spin, to trap it!" Josh called, pointing to the Caterpie. "Char!" he let out as Ignis would loose a rope of flames that would surround the Caterpie, trapping it in a ring of fire. "Flamethrower!" Josh would call to finish it off. "CHARRR!" Ignis would let out, loosing the flames on the defenseless Caterpie, roasting it with a super effective attack! The Caterpie would fall over, seeming to be down for now.
"Char!" Ignis let out happily as he would run over and pick up the berry, nomming on it. Food always tasted better when you fought tooth and nail for it!
Josh would sigh quickly pull out and throw another Pokeball at the Caterpie, meanwhile. Hopefully they could make it up to it by giving it a home with good food and good company.
