Born in the Hoenn Region’s Lilycove City, raised in another region, William is the only son of the owners and creators of the Rosenbach Coorporation, making him the descendant of rich and prestige. Hating the constrictions and bindings of his upbringing, he took to adventuring, becoming a Coordinator for almost 7 years before becoming a Trainer. During this period, he achieved many accomplishments, and travelled throughout most of the world, making friends along the way. He finally settled in the Nue Region, opening up the Wailord Sanctuary of Friendship and becoming its caretaker. Physically obsessed with friendship, loyal to a fault, and polite enough to make butlers seem crass, William looks for more friendship in his life. The Golden Dork will be your friend, whether you like it or not.

Ba'ul. Closest Companion, Dearest Friend, Truest Ally, Most Blessed Benefactor. It is by Ba'ul's grace and existence that William is who he is, and similarly, it is by William's dedication and love that Ba'ul became who he became. There is perhaps no closest friendship, no truer bond, nothing that can compare to the love and adoration that the boy and his whale have for each other. When William laughs, Ba'ul overjoys. When Ba'ul succeeds, William adores. Together, no evil will stand in their way. Together, they will succeed and bring friendship to the world.
Ba'ul met William by accident, though many would say, William included, that their meeting was fated, foretold, meant to be. Long ago, when William was only around 7 years of age, the boy was taken along with his parents on a cruise ship trip. To the Not-Yet-Golden-Knight-William, this trip was perhaps another demonstration of his own personal hell. Rich adults, spending their money vicariously, uncaring for their surrounding apathy. His parents attempted to keep him distracted, involved, but alas, William was already loathe to the high class, and to the ultimate act that he had to maintain. He enjoyed being polite and seeing the smiles light up in people's faces when he introduced himself, when he reached out to them with friendly words, but it seemed that all of them stopped caring about him once his parents showed up. So, one day, he excused himself, going out of the many rooms, in utter boredom. Staring out to sea, the Not-Yet-Golden-Knight found the imagery beautiful. The waves sparkled like brilliant, glittering jewels, lit up by the midday sun. The wind moved around, as if in an invisible dance. William was enthralled, completely enthralled by the grandness of the sea, by the chance of him seeing a Pokemon again, out there in the sea. So enthralled, in fact, that he became distracted, and lost his footing. With a jostle from a rough wave, he slipped, and without being able to do anything about it, he was quickly falling overboard, unable to stop his inevitable plunge towards the sea. He was panicking, unable to really comprehend the situation, and screamed in fear as he saw the blue approach. But as he was about to hit the water, the blue color changed. It was suddenly gold.
Plop.
His fall was stopped by a soft surface. William was completely surprised to see the water turn gold, but even more so that he was barely wet, or that he was not, you know, sinking. As he gathered his wits, he touched the surface he had landed on, finding it somewhat warm, and very soft. But he almost screamed again, this time in surprise more than fear, when the surface moved and made a sound. William looked down, and met a smiling face, and a both-confused-but-elated sound. "Waiii?" spoke the strange creature that the Not-Yet-Golden-Knight did not recognize, but he felt happy that this creature, which he assumed to be a Pokemon, was being friendly with him. So he quickly began with a "My most delighted greetings, friend! My name is William. Are you a Pokemon?" to which the Wailmer nodded. They both smiled and began quickly talking (or, rather, William was asking questions, and the Wailmer would nod or shake his head to answer). There was sheer excitement and joy running through the boy's veins. This was the first Pokemon he had ever met - perhaps not the first he'd seen, but the first he'd ever met. And it was so friendly, too!
However, William's initial scream of panic and fear when he had fallen overboard had been enough to attract a stranger. The person looked down, and saw a kid on a golden Wailmer. Needless to say, his surprise was evident as he ran to the captain, informing him of the situation. Within a few moments, Mr. and Mrs. Rosenbach were looking down at their child, bonding with a Pokemon, happily swimming along the boat. They asked him to come up, but the 7-year-old would not come up without his new friend, so they holstered the Wailmer up. The Wailmer seemed extremely happy to meet all these people who looked at him curiously, confusedly. Most of them who knew Pokemon knew that Wailmer were most definitely not golden, but here it was. Was it a Shiny Pokemon? Who knew? The boy and the whale, however, were happily playing with each other, relocating to the pool. William's parents were confused at first, but by his insistent nature, they bought him a Cherish Ball, and allowed their child to ask the Wailmer to become his first Pokemon. "You can't force the Wailmer, however." Reminded his dad. "Only if he wants to join you, may he become your Pokemon."
It didn't take a second for the Wailmer to say yes.
William was overjoyed when he returned home, immediately releasing the Pokemon out, spending nearly every moment that he was awake with him. This was his first friend, a Pokemon, too! This was all he ever dreamed of, all he ever hoped of! A friend! He nicknamed the Wailmer Ba'ul. It seemed... fitting. They were inseparable. Through William's growth, through his decision to become a Coordinator, through his rise to become a Master Coordinator, and ever since, Ba'ul and William have been together, a pair. By this point, any doubt or worry that his parents might have had was gone, and instead replaced with almost as much love for the whale as they had for the child. They have shared their struggles, their pains, their suffering, their sadness, their joys, their victories. William and Ba'ul were iconic, simply as natural as breathing. It was by Ba'ul's influence that William donned the Golden color as his standard. It was by William's influence that Ba'ul grew to be the graceful and glorious Coordinating Pokemon he was. They strengthened each other, they aided each other. People would think that one would shape the other, but instead, they both aided and served to become the molds for the other.
Ba'ul is, like William, a physical embodiment of friendliness. A giant, giant, giant embodiment of friendliness. The titan of a Pokemon has not one mean bone in himself, and like his Trainer, is dedicated to becoming friends with everyone he meets. While his incredible size might make Ba'ul seem intimidating at times, the Float Whale Pokemon will always prove his true nature as a gentle giant. He pays no mind at his rare and unique coloration, but he still is flattered that the Golden Knight would choose Ba'ul's color as his standard and theme. Needless to say, Ba'ul and William are inevitably connected, and will do anything for the other, stopping at nothing to fulfill their goal as the friends they aim to be. Pity the fool who stands against the enemies of William when Ba'ul seeks to defend his Knight. Outside of battle, Ba'ul is extremely formal, polite, and always trying to befriend those around him. He enjoys swimming, performing, and spending time with William.

Oceanus is one of William's older Pokemon, being with him for about 9 years now. The grumpy old jelly was caught by William when the Golden Knight was out at sea, practicing some Coordinating routines. It was a bit of a surprise battle, but somehow, William ended up convincing the Tentacool that joining him wasn't that bad of an idea. He evolved after a tough battle in a Coordinating contest.
Stingy. Call it cheesy, but that's the best way to describe Oceanus - he's not extremely friendly, and if he doesn't like you, you'll know. Somehow, he seems like one of the few Pokemon of William's to whom the whale-boy's giant levels of affection did not stick. It's not that he's mean or rude or anything, but at best, he's cordial, and at worst, run. Oceanus prefers battling to Coordinating, and so he takes a major role as a defender and guard of the Sacntuary - most poachers who have come to the Sanctuary learned that there is a high chance for tentacles to appear suddenly under the ship, dragging your boat down. While he might not be as openly friendly as William or Ba'ul, he has a soft spot for his allies, and demonstrates his affection for them by murdering anyone who might hurt them. He often just floats about when not in battle. His favorite hobbies are stretching his tentacles, battling, and trying to teach others to learn to communicate via his shiny head beads.

Julianos is the destined Slowking, something William knows because Julianos went and picked up the King's Stone after he was caught. William and Julianos met when his species was swarming near the Meteor Falls of the Hoenn Region. 'Twas beneficial that William had just the right Pokemon to battle him with, securing the victory.
You can tell that Julianos wants to be a Slowking, and it's not just because he happens to be a little more physically active than most Slowpokes. He spends most of his time talking to the others who have travelled the world a bit more, trying to learn as much as he can. He wishes he could do much more in a day, but while his mind is sharp, his movements are still somewhat impaired by his species's natural slowness. He helps manage the weather of the Sanctuary by yawning as necessary, bringing rain. In his attempts to seem sharper than the rest of his species, he often jumps to the gun, but William does his best to keep him at a good pace.

Carcino was one of the first Pokemon William caught in the Kanto region, a simple accident while fishing in the Cinnabar islands. Well, accident on William's part. The Pokemon snapped William's fishing line and then proceeded to attempt to attack the Golden Knight. Luckily, Boo was there to defend the Golden Knight. It took a lot to make the crab go down, but he did. Eventually.
Stubborn is one thing. William is stubborn. Ba'ul is stubborn. Bei-Fong is stubborn. Carcino, however, is completely and absolutely set. It's incredible how William's relationship with him evolved into friendship, considering how much Carcino likes to butt heads with him, and with everyone around him. He's quite aggressive, and not afraid to speak what he feels, even if he disagrees with everyone in the room. There is a certain level of impressiveness at how pig-headed Carcino can be when he wants to. While he doesn't seek out battle per se, he will never turn down a challenge, and often battles until he knocks out or William forcibly puts him in the Poke Ball. He respects William's strength, which is the main reason the two are friends.
Maelstrom was obtained in the Kanto Region's Seafoam Islands, where William met him in a happy-go-lucky expedition into the waters. He fought against Aquaria, but lost, and finally unlocked her evolution. He himself evolved a few months before they got to the Nue Region, in training for the Lilycove Contest that never happened.
Maelstrom used to be somewhat meek and gentle, but in his evolution, he has evolved to a more regal, formal personality. He's reserved, and doesn't bother anyone much, but fierce in his declaration of his own standing. He's quite respectful of William and Ba'ul, and has grown very formal because of them. He's really bad at letting lose and relaxing, which is why he normally sticks to battle. Strong in belief of his own power, as a sort of noble would be of his inherent right, he used to be somewhat doubtful of his battle ability, but now he seeks to hone his skill as much as he can. Maelstrom has a weak spot for beach days, and will gladly play in the water, before realizing he's with company, and ,embarrassed, returning to his regal act.
