After much traveling, Doug at last arrived at the more rugged terrains of Mt. Pyre. It required a bit of traveling compared to other places and he had to utilize a means of traveling over water to actually get onto the island. He came to the seemingly seclusive island as he and Josh decided to do some training around the area, maybe see if there were some Pokemon around the area as well. With his trusty partner Oron on his shoulder, Doug stepped onto the island and walked along the terrain, going to meet up with Josh wherever he was on the island. He looked off around the stretch of water that circled all around the island, scratching his chin. "Chuuu." Oron squeaked. Doug smiled with a nod. "Yeah. It is quite different than the areas we've been to so far... Pretty swell view of the waters from some angles." Doug said. He then continued walking, he should be seeing Josh somewhere around here momentarily...

Along with Doug, Josh was ready for action. His battling trigger finger was getting itchy, he had the urge to train his Pokemon once again, and prepare for the Tower. So he had accompanied Doug as part of their deal to a mountain that had become Josh's training ground as of late. With Lightning on his shoulder, Josh walked with the Pikachu-shouldered redhead along the mountains, taking in the scenery with a small smile. It was a bit of scenery he had gotten quite used to over time, of course. But it didn't get any less amazing. It was a hell of a way down though.... Ugh....
Of course, before this could happen, we have to explain the cliffnotes. Josh had been waiting for Doug near the cave that he had claimed as a base awhile back, and where the first meeting between Josh, Doug and Maxine had been. After they had spoken and set up their teams, they had gotten on their merry way.
"See anything?" Josh asked Doug as he looked over. It'd been pretty quiet so far.
As the quietness ended quickly, Doug looked on as, from the blue, a Geodude floated over towards the duo. It seemed tough and wanting to battle. "I'll take care of this one..." Doug said as he pulled out a Pokeball and tossed it out. The ball proceeded to open up and from a bright white light came out little Paulie. Doug smirked, knowing very well that a Water type Pokemon had the ultimate advantage over a Rock type.
The Geodude sort of floated back a little, but he seemed determined, as if he was getting ready to plan something. The Geodude sort of flexed his rocky arms and then punched them together, his body beginning to emit a white glow, the signaling effect of using Rock Polish, as if the Geodude's rocky body was becoming shinier by the second. The Geodude's aura then began to darken into a brownish color as he then quickly raised up one of his fists and powerfully punched it into the ground, causing the ground to begin shaking and causing an earthquake-like effect. The Geodude had moved notably nimbly thanks to the effects of Rock Polish. Doug began to lose his balance a little and wobbled on his feet. "Nghh... Paul. Jump!" Doug called out as Paul quickly jumped into the air to avoid the crackling and damaging grounds caused by the quake. "Alright. Now use Bubble!" Doug commanded. Paul's little pink mouth then opened up and began to spew out a streaming line of bubbles towards the Geodude. The Geodude was floating back up from the hard punch and looked up as he then began getting pelted by the bubbles, sending him backwards bit by bit. It was dealing notable damage. The Geodude gritted his teeth a little from the hard impact of the water against him, but managed to keep his battle stance prepared.
Paul landed on the ground. The Geodude began to emit yet another white glow as he then rushed towards the Poliwag. "Get out of the way!" Doug called out. That effort this time was much too late due to the Geodude's speed boost. The Geodude's aura went brown once more as he then punched Paulie into the ground with a mighty punch, causing the ground to shudder and crack around them, a clean hitting Magnitude attack. Doug winced. "Agh... Paul!" Doug called out, as if he was the one being hit by the earth-shattering punch. Doug gritted his teeth as the Geodude looked down at Paul, quickly floating back as Paul slowly flopped back onto his feet, glaring towards the Geodude a little and wincing from the punch. "Paul! Use Rain Dance! It'll be okay this time! You won't get fried!" Doug called out. He seemed to know when to properly use a Rain Dance this time around. He slowly pulled his hood over his head as Paul began to hop around on his feet a little, the skies beginning to cloud up and darken. As it quickly began pouring down the water of the skies, the Geodude seemed to be frightened a little. Doug smirked. "Now, Paul, Use Water Gun!" Doug called out, holding out his hand. Paul's mouth then opened up and spewed out a stream of water towards the Geodude, the stream growing larger from the rainfall. The Geodude tried to move out of the way, but the blast of water quickly crashed against the Geodude, sending him reeling back towards the ground, soggy and defeated.
The rainy skies would momentarily clear up and Doug pulled down the hood from his head, looking over at the Geodude from the distance and scratching his chin. "I think I got em..." Doug said as he took a closer inspection at the rocky Pokemon. He smiled a little as the Geodude was defeated and his eyes were spirals to note that. Doug then looked toward Paul and held out his Pokeball with a smile. "You did great out there, Paul. Return." Doug said as the Pokeball emitted a red stream, which would pull Paul back into the containment ball of sorts. He then looked towards Josh with a cheeky smile. "Well, that was a little unexpected, huh?" Doug said towards Josh with a small snicker as he put the shrunken down Pokeball back onto his belt.

Josh watched as Doug quickly dispatched the Geodude. That Poliwag that didn't stand a chance against Lightning had a better chance against a rock type, obviously. He smirked a bit as he quietly spectated, having not even flinched or moved a muscle since it attacked. It was good training for Doug, he had decided.
Soon enough, the Geodude was finished, and Josh nodded in approval. "Good, good" he said, and nodded in response to Doug's question. "Well, only for when not expecting the time a Pokemon will jump out. While I was training out here, I learned to always, at all times, be on your guard. They can jump out at any point"
And as if on cue, a Spoink, not happy with the noise, would jump out at them. Josh would quickly pull out a Pokeball and was about to throw it when another one opened up to bring out...
"WYNAUT!"
Wob had let itself out of it's Pokeball. But Josh couldn't call Wob back before the Spoink picked it's target and sent out a Psybeam toward the Wynaut.
"Look out, Wob!" Josh called. But instead of dodging, the Wynaut just stared at the beam.
"WYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY-NAUT!" he let out as he glowed a light purple for a moment as the Psybeam hit, but didn't seem to contact the Wynaut and instead went flying back toward the Spoink, sending it back. The Spoink bounced around angrily before trying to ram itself into the Wynaut, who would then use a Counter attack to send it back.
"Huh... Counter and Mirror Coat" he said, smirking a bit. "Alright Wob, let's try this out! You ready for this?" he asked, grinning. It was time to test this little troublemaker out in battle.
The Spoink wasn't done though, as orbs would fly around it before being shot at Wob. "That's Confuse Ray, Wob! You can't counter it! Dodge!" Josh commanded. "Wy!" Wob let out as it finally dodged out of the way. "Get ready for it!" Josh called.
The Spoink wasn't going to take that lying down of course, and a blast of Power Gem would go flying toward Wob. "Mirror Coat!" he called. "WYYYYYYYY-NAUT!" he let out as the Power Gem was intercepted by Mirror Coat, sending it back and hitting Spoink dead on. Having enough, the Spoink bounced away before the Wynaut could kick it around anymore.
Josh smirked a bit and patted Wob on the head. "You did great, Wob" he said as he returned the little troublemaker to it's Pokeball.
Doug looked around the mountainous area and he noticed a little white and blue Pokemon. It seemed sort of monkey-like and human-like as well. It was sitting in a meditative position, floating in the air with a faint glow around it. Doug went up to it curiously, but suddenly its eyes snapped open and it landed on the ground. It hopped onto its feet and got into a fighting pose. Doug stepped back a little, but knew what he had to do.
He pulled out another Pokeball from his belt. "Alright, little meditative monkey Pokemon... Try this on for size." Doug then tossed out the Pokeball and it popped open. From the bright white flash, out came a Pidove, whom Doug had caught awhile ago and named Camden. Little Camden flew around briefly before landing on the ground in front of Doug. "Dove!" It battlecried out bravely towards the monkey-like Meditite. The Meditite bowed before Camden and then quickly held his palm out and thrusting it forward. Suddenly, an energetic wave shot out from his palm towards Camden. It quickly hit and sent Camden fluttering back a little, waving his wings around. It hurt a bit more due to Meditite's Pure Power ability, giving him a starting increase in Attack. Doug smirked. "Alright, Camden. Use Razor Wind and then finish the barrage with an Air Slash!" Doug then called out. Camden regained his posture and then his wings glowed white. He then began to flap them around repeatedly, sending crescent shaped waves of windy energy towards the Meditite. The Meditite calmly began to acrobatically flip backwards to avoid the impact. Pidove then held back his wings and then swatted them forward, sending out saw-shaped windy energy waves toward the Meditite. The Meditite would look up as the saw-like energy blades crashed into him, sending it reeling back and skidding along the ground. Doug smirked. "Nice one!" He would then compliment his Pidove for the direct hit.
The Meditite would flop back onto his feet quickly and looked intently towards the Pidove. He would then wave his arms around before both of his palms would face towards the ground, his little fingertips of sorts touching together. He gave off a brief glow and his expression relaxed, indicating the start of his Calm Mind move. He then held out his palm and again utilized Force Palm, another burst of energy shooting off towards Camden. "Maneuver out of the way!" Doug called out. Camden complied and flew out of the way this time, avoiding more intense damage from the energy blast of some sort. The Meditite's expression then grew more stern and serious as he began emitting a pink glow... Oh no. He was preparing to use Confusion! A pinkish energy sphere suddenly formed around Camden as the Meditite stared towards him. "Oh no.. Camden! Focus! Try to focus!" Doug cried out. Camden struggled in the sphere and accidentally smacked himself with his wing, his eyes briefly going into spirals from the brief moment of dizziness. "Ngh... Come on! You can do it!" Doug called out again. Camden continued struggling against it, the sphere also was causing some minor bits of damage towards him on top of the mind scrambling.
Eventually, Camden's wings spread out wide and he broke out of it, panting. The Meditite would stumble away a little as his mental focus was suddenly and surprisingly defeated by the willpower of Camden. "Okay, Camden... This one should finish him off... Use Sky Attack!" Doug called out. Camden nodded and he curled up a little, starting to glow, the glow intensifying into a flame-like aura. Camden would then spread his wings out widely and then zoomed directly towards the Meditite, beak first, and fire-like energy trailing from behind him. The Meditite looked up and his eyes widened at the intense speed of Camden as he then explosively slammed into the Meditite, causing an explosive blast on impact. Doug shielded his eyes as smoke and dust arose into the air.
As it cleared up, Camden was standing over the Meditite, panting. The Meditite had clearly been defeated successfully as it laid there with his eyes in spirals. Doug smiled and went up to Camden, getting down on one knee and patting his feathery head. "That was fantastic. You really match your nickname's sake." Doug said in a compliment. "Dove!" Camden said back happily. Doug chuckled as he got up. "Alright, you deserve some good rest now. Return." Doug said as he held out Camden's Pokeball and it emitted a red stream, which then pulled Camden back into the Pokeball. Doug took a deep breath. "Woo... That was intense." Doug said, scratching his head a little.

Josh chuckled a bit. "Sound job, Doug" he said as he watched his Pidove make good work of the Pokemon. "We should get moving, I'm sure there's more Pokemon to be found" he promised as they kept walking.
Eventually, they would come across a Numel. Well, not come across. Josh would accidentally trip over it while it was curled up, mistaking it for a rock. Picking himself up before he could fall, he looked back to see an enraged Numel emit steam from it's nostrils. Josh let out a sigh. "At ease, Doug. I started this problem, allow me to solve it" he stated calmly as he pulled out a Pokeball. "Go, Bastilo!" Josh called as he brought out his Wartortle. "Wartortle!" Bastilo let out as he came face to face with the Numel.
The Numel didn't waste time as it charged at Bastilo, starting to light aflame as Flame Burst came into effect. "Dodge it, Bastilo! Into the air!" Josh called quickly. "Wartortle!" Bastilo responded as he leaped up, dodging the move. "Quick, Rapid Spin into an Aqua Tail!" Josh quickly called seamlessly, as if the combination was second nature to him and Bastilo now. They'd used it so many times now that they just GOT it. "Tortle!" he let out as he would curl into his shell and start spinning, sticking his tail out as it glowed a bright cyan. The Numel would turn around, only to get hit by the Rapid Spin, as well as several instances of Aqua Tail from the tail hitting it over and over again. The impact after several hits would send it flying back, but it would quickly get back to it's feet to shoot particles of flames at Bastilo with Ember, who would be hit dead on while trying to recover. "Stay strong, Bastilo! Hold your ground!" Josh commanded as Bastilo was pelted with the particles, trying to block them. "Water Pulse!" Josh commanded. "War..." Bastilo would begin as he would start charging up the ball of water like a Kamehameha as he was constantly pelted with Ember. Finally when it got big enough....
"FIRE!" Josh called. Bastilo would oblige and counter the Ember with a Water Pulse that would hit Numel dead on while it was still firing, sending it back as it was soaked with water, causing it to crash into the wall. Fainted, the Numel wouldn't be bothering them anymore
"Great job, Bastilo" Josh said with a small smile as he patted the head of his Wartortle. "Wartortle!" Bastilo let out happily.
Doug clapped a little with a small smile. "A sound job from you as well, Josh. Let's keep on going now." Doug would say after the battle ended. "Chu!" Oron would squeak in approval as well. He then proceeded on with Josh.
As they progressed onward, Doug would notice a Machop. He would slowly approach it and as he did, the little fighting type would quickly turn around and chop out at him, Doug managing to hop back a little to evade any sort of conflicting impact from a Karate Chop. Doug squinted his eyes. "You damn little bugger..." Doug would mutter. He then looked at Oron and smiled. "You think you can take em?" Doug said to him. "Chu!" Oron squeaked out all cutely and what not as he hopped off of Doug's shoulder and crouched down, his cheeks sparking. "That's my little lightning mouse." Doug said in a happy tone.
The Machop seemed eager at the prospect of a battle and it quickly began running at Oron and attempted to sweep his leg out, the sign that it was using Low Kick. "Maneuvering, Oron!" Doug said. Oron got the drill as he hopped up over the attempted Low Kick, bouncing off of the Machop's head, which sent him reeling forward with a lack of balance behind Oron, who landed momentarily. "Use Tail Whip now and quickly get back!" Doug would add on. Oron then turned around and ran back at the Machop, then flipped upwards and then lightly smacked it in the face with his tail, the Machop wincing as Oron then quickly moved back. The Machop seemed kind of angry as it then quickly dashed in front of Oron and before he could react, the Machop then began barraging Oron with a rapid smacking with the side of his hand, the classic move Karate Chop in action. Doug winced a little, Oron feeling the pain of a thousand smacks. Eventually, Machop would deal one more smack that sent Oron reeling away backwards.
"Ngh... Are you okay, Oron?" Doug asked quickly. Oron staggered slightly, but then quickly got back up, nodding. "Chu!" He cried. Doug would smile and chuckle a little. "Alright then!" Doug said in a louder voice. "Use Nasty Plot!" Doug would add on. Oron nodded and stared towards Machop, an eerie presence to him and a mischievous look to him. Machop seemed focused despite this ominous presence over him from the tiny electric mouse Pokemon, holding his fists together and a light blue aura lining around the Machop's body. The two Pokemon stared each other down, waiting for one to make the first move. A bead of sweat trailed down Doug's head and he wiped it off, watching carefully at what may happen. The Machop slid into a battle stance and then charged at Oron... Big mistake. "Now! Use Thunder Shock!" Doug cried out with a pointing motion. Oron's cheeks sparked and he then was immersed in an electrical aura, a powerful bolt shooting out directly towards the Machop. Before the little Fighting type could react, he was quickly submerged in the sea of electricity, being electrocuted, the power just adding on thanks to the effects of Nasty Plot.
As the waves of electricity faded, the Machop stood there, sort of smoked and covered in Soot. He struggled slightly to move, but he would then slowly fall down, his eyes turning into spirals. Doug smiled and and raised up a fist. "Yes! Good job, Oron!" Doug said in approval towards his companion. Oron didn't seem too damaged and smiled, jumping a little. "Chu! Chu!" He cried happily as he ran over and crawled back onto Doug's shoulder. "Another battle well done, my little companion." Doug said as he reached up and pet Oron's head with his opposing hand.

Josh chuckled a bit as Doug showed his improvement in taking down the Machop. "Bravo, bravo, my friend" he said, clapping. "But keep your guard up, we're not back at the cave yet" he said.
They were almost back to the cave now, he realized. And it was getting dark. Josh gauged the sun would be coming down rather soon, as he watched where it was in the sky. "Yeah, it's best we get back soon. It gets dark as hell up here, and if we're ambushed, we'll be in trouble" Josh said, looking over at Doug. "Be on your toes"
Speaking of toes, Josh nearly tripped over a Torktoal, which had been in it's shell at the time. Josh would stumble over it, but manage to keep his footing. Good, considering the cliffs. The Torkoal would come out of his shell, and steam would erupt from it's shell and nostrils. "Koal!" it let out irritably, before attacking by retreating back into it's shell and spinning toward them. "Look out, Doug!" Josh would call as he would back up, grabbing one of his Pokeballs. "I know who's good for this job, no worries. Go, Espio!" he said as he let out his Froakie.
"Froa-ki-ki-kie!" Espio let out as he would come out, ready for battle. Josh had given Espio some time to grow up in the ranch, but he was bringing him back now, ready to get in on the action. "Espio, use Double Team!" Josh called. Espio would nod and quickly begin summoning copies of himself as the Torkoal would respond with Fire Spin, taking out a few of the Froakie copies, but leaving him open. "Hydro Pump!" Josh quickly called. Espio would leap out of the sea of copies. "Kie!" he let out as he would summon a large torrent of water heading straight for his foe, nailing the Torkal dead on while it was open. "Koal!" it let out in pain as the super effective hit would strike, sending it back a bit. "Bounce!" Josh called. "Kie!" Espio let out as he leaped up into the air after bouncing, before going right for the Torkoal, who would counter with Protect before taking advantage of the rebound to go for a Rapid Spin, the spinning shell slamming into Espio and sending him back in mid-air. "Gah..." Josh muttered before he would look over at Espio.
"Toxic Spikes!" he called. "Shoot them right at him, don't bother littering the field!" he suddenly added. "Kie!" Espio responded as he would shoot purple spikes the way of the Torkoal. Not it's practical use, no, but it was a wild Pokemon, it couldn't be switched out. The Torkoal would retreat into it's shell, Protect keeping it from hitting once again. "Wait for it to come out..." Josh said quietly. As the Protect ended and the Torkoal came out of it's shell though...
"Hydro Pump!" Josh commanded. "Kie!" Espio let out as he loosed another torrent of water that hit Torkoal dead on, sending it back. "Now finish with Bounce!" he called. "Kie!" Espio let out as he bounced off the ground, leaping into the air, and then landing on the Torkoal. It seemed to have enough, and would wander off in a hurry.
"Good job, Espio!" Josh said as he returned him to his Pokeball. Josh nodded to Doug before they kept moving. "There's the cave again!" he said, taking a breath. "Good training for today. I'll introduce you to Izumi tomorrow" he said.
