It was Rumors had spread as wide as the greenery of the Eterna Forest, and it was exactly where Charlotte Elder had gone to uncover this special rumor. Deep within its lush passages covered in tall trees, somewhere in the darkness, was a house with a very special inhabitant. This was not a family though the location was an Old Manor. You would have to wonder though what kind of creepy family lived in a dark mansion right somewhere in an inhabited forest. Her target for today was an elusive ghost-type Pokémon with a penchant for trouble, as was common for all Ghosts. Its preferred location was an old abandon somewhere in this forest.
Now, the location was not the problem in this situation.
She had gone quite deep into the forest’s dwelling. Though it was already late afternoon, and the sun had yet to pass the horizon, her surrounding had gone nearly black already. Charlotte could still see however, thanks to the holes in the dense canopy that towered above her. For this trip, she made no changes whatsoever to her normal attire; a tight white dress with petal designs fluttering down across her chest and two slits up until her thighs. This was combined with flat white shoes as footwear and a black over coat on her shoulders. Hush was more than happy to be out of its containment unit and was maneuvering loops just ahead of her, clearly enjoying the freedom.
Charlotte had Hushkill already out of its Poke ball because only a Ghost types could deal with their own kind. If this Pokémon was as annoying as the one she owned, they would get along just fine. Another rumor revolved around this Pokémon having the ability to change forms, which also gave birth to a second rumor that there were multiple ghosts Pokémon of unknown origin haunting the house. Now, there are had been reports of strange disturbances around the entire Eterna Forest regarding strange accidents, sudden disappearances only to reappear a few months earlier with no memories. No actual mission was sent out due to the lack of evidence to support the victim’s claims, and since their memories were unreliable, they had been deemed as mere negligence on their parts. While navigating and surveying all forms of media, she came across some stories regarding the incidents and was treated as mere fiction. However, cross-referencing some data enabled Charlotte to identify the root cause of the problem: Rotom.
Everything matched perfectly, even though it was only a hunch. She wasn’t exactly sure whether it was a Rotom or not. With a dual typing of Ghost and Electric, Rotom was a prodigy for all misgivings. However, it had an extra kick up its sleeve. Thanks to its plasma composed body, this natural embodiment allowed him to possess and take over appliances and become a different Pokémon entirely. Now, wouldn’t it be convenient that the old manor had the appliances that it needed? Charlotte had a theory: it was possible that this Pokémon had left its usual premises due to one, encountering a powerful enemy that it could not defeat and fled the manor, or perhaps it could be lonely. Either way, the one thing that Charlotte needed to know is whether these accidents were too dangerous to let go or merely childish pranks. She had decided however, that she would capture the little living ball of electricity no matter what.
“Hushkill!” Charlotte’s voice rang across the silence of the Forest and actually startled the Gas Pokémon.
“Gastly! Gas..?” A few meters above the ground Hushkill looked around for the sound that had startled him, turning left and right. Charlotte’s face immediately turned sour and through its side view, Hushkill caught this and flew in a rush around the annoyed professor only to settle down in front of her face. Charlotte pushed him back with her hand on his face, and threw him a glare. The gas Pokémon immediately settled down.
“Do you sense any other Ghost Pokémon?”
Hushkill closed his eyes and started hovering around in circles for quite a few times. Ghost Pokémon did not have the sharpest senses ever; however they could feel the presence of other Ghost pokemon within a certain area. To do this, she needed to stop walking and let him do his thing. After a few minutes, the Gastly hadn’t stopped yet and in fact, had gone faster now, becoming a streak of purple in the darkness. His foolish antics were confirmed when Gastly exclaimed in joy as it sped around in circles.
“GAAAAAAAAASSSSTLY!”
“Hushkill!”
Charlotte’s sharp tone cut through Gastly’s bliss, and he stopped like a speeding car pulling on the breaks. He even simulated tripping over a few times before crashing into a trees and literally fainting (or at least pretending to be). Tapping her foot in an impatient mood, Charlotte sighed in resignation and massaged her temples.

(Sorry this post isn't going to be uber long like yours! D: )
Josh had heard the rumors as well. A challenge wasn't something he turned down. He didn't like to leave stones unturned, and when he heard rumors of a haunted mansion in the middle of Eterna Forest, he couldn't resist! So with his loyal Pikachu, Lightning on his shoulder, with blue bandana on his neck and all, the blonde walked through the forest with purpose. He'd brought a steady team to deal with the likely Ghost Pokemon that he would encounter. He had a feeling that they would get more then they bargained for if they attacked, but Josh would never underestimate them. Never. It wasn't smart to underestimate Ghost Pokemon, he knew this. And he would handle the situation as seriously as possible. If they attacked, he would fight, no question.
"Pika?" Lightning chirped, looking around curiously. Dark. Cold. Perfect ways to describe this forest. A sigh escaped the blonde's lips. 21 years of age, long blonde hair, bright brown eyes, all complimenting the handsome face of a well built, 6'1 young man. He probably should have brought Izumi, or Maxine, or perhaps Red, but Josh liked a challenge once in awhile. And none of them were available in the area anyway. It seemed he would be handling this alone.
"No worries, Lightning" he comforted with a small smile as he patted the Pikachu on the head. "I'm sure it's just ghost Pokemon making a bit of trouble" he said with a cheeky chuckle.
Then he heard something. The sound of a Gastly, then something saying "Hushkill". Hushkill? Never heard of it. But whatever it was, Josh was determined to find out. He would weave and wove through the trees and bushes until they came to where they would find company....
A rustle of leaves stole her attention and her head snapped around her. With a glare, Professor Elder carefully surveyed her surroundings for unusual movement. Had it been her imagination or a strong gust? It did heighten her senses to a more alerted level. It wasn’t that noticeable yet, but it was getting darker and darker by the minute. Charlotte had no problems searching for her ghostly target in the night, but it did increase the risk factor even more. The darkness allowed them to go even more unnoticed, which she figured; it was the reason why Hushkill was more ‘happy’ than usual.
It was quite the simple decision but a very hard one to make. According to her calculations, Charlotte had two paths she could take:
A.) She could go on searching upon a hunch that Rotom was actually behind the mysterious disappearances and capture it before it could cause more trouble, and get another rare Pokémon.
Or
B.) Come back tomorrow when it was safer and continue searching.
There was a reason why mental face palms did not hurt and that was to prevent further brain damage. Of course it was choice A. There was no way that Rotom was going to show itself in broad daylight, it would obviously take the more advantageous route.
A strong gust of wind blew this time, but while the whole sang together with the forceful gales, Charlotte could now tell that she wasn’t alone. There was another presence nearby, and while she couldn’t tell how many, the real question was whether they were hostile or not. The wind subsided and at the snapping of a twig behind her, all her doubts were confirmed. They were definitely not alone and company in these times was worse than no company at all.
“Hushkill! Confuse Ray!” Charlotte commanded the gas pokemon, who recognizing that tone of voice, meant that play time was over. It popped up the ground and flew in front of Charlotte who had designated the area where to attack. With more enthusiasm than she liked, Gastly’s whole body was engulfed by a sinister pink energy that also emanated through his eyes. The aura gathered into small 6 orbs around his body.
“Gas…TLYYYYY!!!”
He released the orbs, throwing them like purple bullets where Charlotte had heard the rustle more than a few times. Whoever, or whatever it was, would get confused or at least feel somewhat dizzy as the effects of Confuse Ray were supposed to do. It did no real damage though, just dim the target’s senses and twist their consciousness just a bit.
If the victim meant no harm, or they were passing, they would just have to forgive her.
NOTES:
Heh. It’s okay. I may do that sometimes, though I’m really long-winded most of the time.

As soon as Josh stepped on the twig, it was evident what this "Hushkill" actually was. Someone, a voice, had called for a Gastly to use Confuse Ray, dubbing them Hushkill. It was a Pokemon and their Trainer!
Wait, Confuse Ray?
It wasn't long before those all too familiar orbs would suddenly appear. As soon as he heard the term "Confuse Ray" called though, it was an easy guess that it was targeted toward them.
"Wait, wait, we mean no har-" he couldn't even finish before the orbs would shoot toward them. They had no choice, they had to fight!
"Lightning, use Thunderbolt!" Josh would quickly call. Lightning would leap off Josh's shoulder as the blonde moved back to get out of the way of the crossfire, before the Pikachu's cheeks sparked in mid-air. "Pika..... CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he would let out fiercely as a large stream of static electricity would fire from the body of the electric mouse and fire straight toward the orbs. An explode would occur, bringing a smokescreen for a moment as the two moves neutralized each other. Josh knew he had to act in the situation or risk another attack.
"Lightning, quick! Use Thunder Wave before they can attack us again!" Josh instantly called. "Pika... CHU!" Lightning let out as he loosed a series of blue sparks that would shoot from the bushes toward the Gastly and it's Trainer. It wouldn't hurt them of course, but it'd stun them and keep them from moving or attacking. Exactly what they needed to do for self defense.
A collision of moves sent waves of gusts her way right after an explosion. Did the thing she just attempt to confuse countered with it's own move? More importantly, if the flash of light she saw was actually an electric move... perhaps her bounty had come looking for her? It did make sense after all. The chances of encountering the Rotom that was hounding the travelers through Eterna Forest were close to 0.9%. She had made the calculations earlier and had prepared for those exact conditions.
While contemplating, she was surprised by a return fire from what she believed to be a wild Rotom with blue sparks that she recognized as an attempt to incapacitate them with Thunder Wave. A tactical move? Most likely. What baffled her was that the wild Rotom was actually using such a planned move. But with such a simple minded move, Charlotte knew she could do better.
"Gastly!Dark pulse..." Without wasting a minute, Gastly charged up dark, murky energy as it gathered all of it's evil thoughts and horrific imagination, materializing them all around it's body. "Gaasstly!" Opening it's mouth, Hushkill practically "threw up" dark circles with pink outlines towards the blue sparks of lighting which caused another explosion. But Charlotte wasn't done cleaning up.
"Mild Infestion! Don't shoot it though.." Charlotte had a plan, and Hushkill, seeing that smile on her face understood quickly.
"Gas..." He had no other choice, but understand quickly. "...tlyyyy!!" A low buzzing hum emanated from his body and as a cloud of black dust swarmed around his body, he let them flow down the ground and quickly flood the ground, but making it's way slowly towards the general area where the Thunder Wave had come from.
"Let's see how this unknown bastard deals with this..." She smiled, clearly proud of herself, and of course with Hushkill.

If Josh had any hope of defusing this situation before it escalated, it was gone now. Even after possibly hearing a human call for a Pikachu to attack, they had still fired again. Josh took a breath as the first attack shot at them, and would grab Lightning and roll out of the way, just narrowly dodging it. Covered in dirt and brambles, they watched as the area was covered in some kind of shadows...
"There's no way out Lightning..." He said, breathing. "Nowhere to go but in. Use Quick Attack and try to defuse that Gastley do you can talk to it!" He said. Lightning leaped out of his arms and charged into the field, even if it meant taking damage from whatever the ghost type was doing, and started gaining speed from Quick Attack.
Thing is, with Gastly's prior attack keeping him from seeing... He would instead slam into the Professor, mistaking her for Gastly. Lightning would quickly realize his mistake. "Pika pika!" Lightning let out in concern before calling out to the Gastly in pika language, trying to explain that there was a misunderstanding.
Charlotte suddenly stood still for minute, eyes unfocused into dead air.
It was already dusk, with the sun nearly gone from the horizon. The shadows from the forest crept up on them like the variation of the infestation Gastly had used on the trainer and it was exactly that kind of vision that Charlotte was having. Her irises had turned into a shimmering yellow, a sign that her powers had taken over and were showing her images of the past. It wasn’t visible from afar but up close, it was quite a sight to see. Gastly was still engrossed in Charlotte’s last order, as he was trained to do.
In her mind, she saw it all as if in a dream, from a third point of view. The images of the future were akin to seeing through a kaleidoscope, clear enough to see, but too bizarre to understand. She saw what looked like a person struggling for their safety, covered in a blank of black dust that she recognized as Gastly’s infestation. Then, she heard a Pickachu’s cry and a ringing of bells echo in the background. Then, she felt cold and dreadful, that heavy feeling in the stomach, as if she was never going to be happy again. Were all of these things related? Of course they were. There was no doubt about that. But they didn’t make sense, and Charlotte knew she wouldn’t be able to decipher them until it was minutes before the correlated event took place.
The professor didn’t know how long she had been frozen in place. It was one of things she hated about this power. While she had meditated and practiced to control of her emotions over the years, ever since her Father’s attempt to capture her eleven years ago, she applied herself to master the ability. She could now muster enough emotion to conjure a premonition, but it wasn’t as powerful or as clear when the emotions were real, not forced.
Her visions were dully interrupted as a small force collided with her stomach, sending her flying a few meters away and finally landing, unconscious under a tree that had deterred her fall. Gastly stopped his Infestation once he saw his master was down, and flew over to make sure she was okay.
“Gastly! Gastly, gastly…” He hovered back and forth, over and over again. The Pikachu that had accidentally attacked Charlotte with quick attack was no panicking, though Gastly did not pay attention to it. It seemed to want Gastly to stop his infestation and whether Gastly had listened or not, it worked. Two pokeballs had fallen out of her overcoat and as they collided on the ground, Lunatique and Banter escaped from their containment unit. The first thing they did was to rush over to their downed master. Lunatique climbed over Charlotte with its stubby pink limbs, while Banter stood beside her body.
The trio of Pokémon only noticed the Pikachu a little while, and as they listened, the Gastly and Wynaut looked at each other in agreement and with a battle cry, they decided to gang up on the electric mouse Pokémon. Cleffa was nothing but curous; was her master sleeping? This did not look like a place she would want to sleep. Lunatique did manage to see Hushkill and Banter trying to make a gang up on Pikachu, and it seemed like more fun than this. She hopped her way towards them, standing in between.
“Cleffaaaa!!”
With a pitchy cry, she released a bright flash of light that spread for a few meters. Both the Gastly and Banter, were forced to close their eyes and stop. The bright light did manage to wake up Charlotte, who rubbed her stomach as she got up.
“What happ ̶ wait, why is everyone out of their Poke balls?”
Seeing the Pikachu, she came to remember her vision and the sudden pain in her stomach. Connecting one and two, the trainer that was probably damaged due to Gastly’s infestation was the owner of this Pikachu, the same Pokémon who had unleashed both electrical attacks that Gastly countered. She knew what to do.
“Everyone stay close…” She specially looked at the Pikachu with a stern eye. “Luna, come here and use Flash at minimal power. Do not go overboard.”
Cleffa hopped up and jumped into her arms with glee, giving of a soft, beautiful light. Gastly and Banter floated and walked just behind her, still rubbing their eyes from Cleffa’s surprise attack. Whether the Pikachu followed or not, Charlotte was keen on finding the bastard.
She did owe him an apology that he would remember, forever.

The second the Pokemon were out of their balls and about to 3 on 1 gang up on the Pikachu, Josh would spring from the trees instantly, Pokeballs in hand. "Leave him alone!" he called as he tossed the Pokeballs, with a Charizard and Typhlosion popping up and standing alongside the Pikachu. Both would let out a roar, seeming ready to even the odds.
Of course, then the Trainer of the other Pokemon would get up, though didn't seem to notice Josh. What did happen though, was the Cleffa suddenly using Flash.
"Whoa, hey!" Josh called out as he tried to see within the light. "We've been trying to tell you since the first attack, stop firing! We mean no harm!" he called irritably. He was starting to get annoyed with this whole situation. "We tried to tell you the first time, and you sent your damn Gastly after us again. What in the blue hell is going on?" he asked. His three Pokemon meanwhile, stood poised and ready for battle, set to defend themselves after Lightning had already been attacked several times.
Josh didn't know Lightning had accidentally hit the girl, only that he had tried to stop the Gastly since it had continued to attack.
The professor was seemingly unfazed by the sudden turn out of events. What she thought to be some kind of rare Pokemon had turned out to be a simple Trainer with little to no composure what so ever. They had been both victims here, as it was her opinion, and yet he had the gulls to vomit out his frustrations at her. Blinded by Cleffa's flash, who was still cradled in her arms. She could see the silhouette of the figure she had attempted to maim. Two more Pokemon were released from their containers, towering figures over her and her little Pokemon. A Charizard and a Typhlosion stood side by side the Pickachu Banter and Hushkill had tried to attack, which she assumed, an assault triggered by her sudden fall. She guessed the Pikachu accidentally attacked her when it was aiming for her Gastly.
Charlotte made a 180 degree turn, setting the light on the new arrivals since the sun had set on them sooner than she had expected. There was hardly any light to provided a visual for the area, if it wasn't for her Lunatique's Flash. While she had heard his excuses loud and clear, silencing all the other noises in the area, the Professor did not respond, her face an impassive ice sculpture in midst of darkness, illuminated on one side. Now, wasn't this a sight to behold?
His words clearly echoed through the silence. This bruttish man had said "We mean no harm" right? And yet here she was standing in front of two Fire-types in their final stages. The combined roar thundered throughout the entire forest, and subsided slowly leaving only a trail of uneasy silence. Still, she hadn't flinched nor backed down from where she was standing, even when faced with such troublesome individuals. She merely stared at them with cold indifference, incredulous at such a move.
Charlotte was used to dealing with people with intelligence beneath her level, but when their stupidity had consequences on her, she would not stand by it. Did he not know, by releasing such Pokemon, he could attract the wrong kind of attention? Specially, in this darkness, there was really a few possible ways to defend themselves in the case they were attacked by hostiles residing in the forest. More importantly, they were surrounded by wood and he had just let out two possible perpetrators of a forest fire that could be the death of all of them. Charlotte didn't need her Psychic powers to tell her that. She did think she might be dealing with a muscle brain, however, and he might need a little more than an explanation on how stupid he was.
Walking up to him, she withdrew both Banter and Hushkill just in case. It would not do to have two of her team fainted, though with careful planning, she could take on Charizard and/or Typhlosion together with the injured Pickachu. Specially, if she used her powers to their fullest. However, the consequences of merely winning would be worst than losing, considering the backlash that occurs when her powers were overused. She would be a sitting duck.
Professor Elder approached them without hesitation, surrounded by a shining white light that emanated from Cleffa. Banter and Hushkill both sounded their concern but Charlotte simply put them back in their respective Pokeballs. She stopped shortly within a few meters away from them.
"Do you work hard at being stupid, or do you take pride in the fact that you are stupid?" Her voice was sharp but impassive. Cleffa squirmed, wanting to get a closer look at them fire breathing Pokemon." Your Charizard and Typhlosion... they are both Fire types, right? And we're surrounded by wood... I'd rather be buried on my death than be cremated, thank you very much." Mid sentence, she had taken to inspect their surroundings for another worry she bubbling in her brilliant mind.
Both of them were on unknown territory, and should a fight break out, neither of them would come out safely. More importantly, there was something unsettling about this forest she couldn't quite identify it. All she knew is that she needed to get out of there right now or at least move from their current location.
"Now, if you don't mind, I shall take my leave now..."

Josh smirked a bit as the woman returned her Pokemon to their Pokeballs and spoke. Of course, Josh hadn't meant to attack using them. They were meant for one thing, intimidation, hoping to settle this in nonviolent means and getting the girl and her Pokemon to step down before anyone could get hurt. And if this woman had turned out to be brutish and was willing to attack despite the likely damage to the forest it would bring, Josh knew how to use his Pokemon's moves to battle without causing a forest fire. Yknow, like attacks that didn't involve flames? He'd made sure his Pokemon were trained for every situation... This one included.
But yet, she droned on, insulting him. Ah, if only she knew. Josh would let out a hearty laugh and point the Pokeballs of Fawkes and Inferno at them. "Thanks you guys, you did your job well. Have a rest and get ready in case some other "Brainiac" decides to ambush us with their Pokemon while we're minding their own business" he said as he returned them to their Pokeballs. "Pika!" Lightning chirped as he leaped into his Trainer's arms, as he would smile and hug his Pikachu tight. "I'm glad you're safe" he said softly to the Pikachu, completely ignoring the girl as he pressed his forehead to his Pikachu's, comforting him, just happy to see him safe and sound.
As the woman turned to make her leave, Josh smirked over at her. "Goodbye then. I guess the rumors I was hearing turned out to just be some egomaniacal, vain, self-serving tartcake ambushing people in the forest with her Gastly, instead of a Pokemon causing trouble, as I had been led to believe. Farewell, sweetheart. Don't let the branches hit you on the ass on the way out" he baded farewell with a mockingly polite tone and wave. After the ambush, and then her insulting him afterword, he was in no mood to be civil with this girl.
Of course, something told him it wasn't just her in the forest... He'd been getting spooky vibes the whole trip. He decided he would stick around the forest and find out, whether the girl liked it or not.
