Doug clenched his fist as the impact of the two moves rumbled through the air. "Alright..." Doug said as the intense impact of both moves sent ol' Paulie reeling back towards him. Paulie managed to quickly flip back onto his feet. Paulie too a few calming breaths. "Stay calm, Paul..." Doug said reassuringly towards him. Doug and Paulie watched as Lightning's cheeks sparked, he was charging up a big bolt no doubt... "Wait for it..." He added on. Paul would stare on as Lightning charged up and shot out the intense bolt of lightning. "NOW!" Doug shouted out as Paul actually jumped over the bolt. Doug hopped to the side a little as the bolt passed on by. He then noticed Lightning proceed to follow that bolting attack up with a nimble Quick Attack, the electric mouse quickly leaping towards Paul at an almost blinding speed. Doug took a deep breath. "Ngh... Paul! Try to counter the move! Use Bubble!" Doug shouted out towards the little spiral stomach Pokemon. Paul's little mouth opened up and a streaming line of bubbles shot out towards Lightning.

Doug's picture perfect timing had allowed his Poliwag to dodge the electrical attacks, at least for now. But Lightning was still in the air. Alas, Doug had ordered his Poliwag to counter with Bubble.
"Grin and bear it, Lightning!" Josh called. Lightning would take the bubbles head on, before completing the move and slamming right into the Poliwag, sending it back. Lightning's toughness impressed Josh, a sure sign that their training was paying off. "Alright Lightning, time to step it up!" Josh said with a grin crossing his face. There was a trick they had been hoping to try out in battle for quite awhile, but Lightning hadn't battled a Trainer before... Now was the time.
"Lightning, use Agility!" Josh would call while Lightning was still in mid-air. "Pika!" Lightning responded in affirmative. "Spin!" he called suddenly. Lightning would start spinning in mid-air, like a missile as he headed toward Poliwag, suddenly disappearing and then appearing in another area in the air, then repeat and repeated again. Lightning's speed was reaching incredible lengths.
"BRICK BREAK!" he called as Lightning neared the Poliwag. "PIKA!" Lightning would call as his paws would glow white, before mid-spin attempting to slam one of them into Poliwag with a hard chop.
Doug nodded a little as Paul's Bubble had successfully hit Lightning. His expression soured a little when he noticed the Pikachu get through the attack seemingly unphased and still successfully strike Paul with the Quick Attack, which sent him back and tumbling across the ground a little.
The little guy rolled back onto his feet. "You alright, Paul?" Doug asked the Poliwag, who looked back and nodded at Doug. "Poli." Doug smiled a little. "Alright..." He said as he and Paul looked and listened as Josh called out Agility. Doug looked as the Pikachu appeared to start teleporting through the air, an illusion caused by the intense speeds drawn out by the use of the move. Paul seemed to get a little dizzy as he tried watching the move to decipher where the Pikachu was exactly. He heard as Josh then called out Brick Break, a move not exactly familiar to Doug, as the Pikachu "teleported" in front of Paul and smacked him with a glowing paw, sending the Poliwag skidding across the ground to the side. "Ngh... No. Paul!" Doug called out. Paulie sort of laid there briefly, but he slowly got back onto his feet. Doug took a deep breath of relief. "Alright! We're going to kick it up a notch now, Paul." Doug said with a nod. "Use Rain Dance!" He then called out. Paul would nod and then slowly began to dance around on his two feet. This action caused the skies to darken and clouds formed above the battlefield they stood on. And drip... Drip... Drip... It then began raining. Doug nodded as he pulled his jacket's hood up over his head. "Alright, now use Water Gun!" Doug said. Paul then opened his little mouth and shot out a quick bursting stream of water towards Lightning. It seemed to grow larger as the rain fell down a little quicker. Doug watched on as the results of the move would become known...

The attack would hit, and Lightning would leap back after the impact, landing on Josh's side of the battlefield. Josh was feeling good, and Josh was feeling confident, as did Lightning. Even Fawkes seemed impressed by the improved fighting abilities of his comrade. He had always thought the Pikachu was just a mascot, or an arm decoration for Josh, but yet here he was giving an incredibly impressive fight. Very interesting.
Then Doug did the unthinkable. Rain Dance. The stormclouds came in and rain would start pouring, getting harsher and harsher as it went. Josh blinked as he looked up and saw the stormclouds and the rain falling down and crashing onto them. Josh would immediately stop and return Fawkes to his Pokeball in order to protect the flame on his tail from the rain. While rain wouldn't put out the powerful Charizard's tail anytime soon, Josh couldn't be too careful.
He would look just in time to see a very powerful Water Gun going for Lightning. "Dodge!" Josh would instantly call. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he leaped into the air, just barely dodging the water gun in a very similar fashion to how Doug's Poliwag had dodged one of Lightning's attacks earlier.
As Lightning landed, Josh could only chuckle as he remembered a strategy he had learned by pure accident... He smirked. "You're good, Glick... You're real good. But you just made the biggest mistake of your life!" he called. "Lightning.... USE THUNDER!" he suddenly called fiercely. "Pika!" Lightning chirped as his cheeks would start sparking violently. It was obvious he was gearing up for a massive attack... Possibly even his strongest. "Pika..... CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Lightning let out in a fierce, brutal tone as a massive stream of electricity would shoot to the heavens, into the stormclouds...
Suddenly, they would respond, a massive bolt of lightning would come down and hit the Poliwag dead on, with no chance of dodging. It was likely the biggest electric attack the Poliwag had ever been hit by, and the damage would be massive, with Thunder being the most powerful of Pikachu's attacks.
Doug took a few deep breaths, this battle grew a bit tiresome for him as this intense climax for their final round went on. He too was feeling good, in the zone almost... Maybe even not thinking very much as a result of this rush he was going through... That is when everything he was working with and putting together came crashing down in front of him instantly.
The amplified Water Gun missed! This wouldn't seem to be too much of an issue until Doug heard what Josh said. "Mistake...?" He muttered to himself. Paul and Doug looked around in confusion as Lightning screamed out and shot off a Thunder... Upwards? Doug then looked upward and his eyes widened. The clouds flashed and the bolt went down and hit Paul before he could even react, not that it would even be possible to... The little water creature was then instantly fried by the intensely powerful bolt, the power making a simple Thunder Shock pale in comparison... Paul would screech out loudly as the electrical shock just went on seemingly nonstop. "POOOOOOOOLIIIIII!" Doug's eyes widened at the almost terrifying sight. "No... PAUL!" Doug cried out. The clouds began to clear up from the sky, the sunshine basking over the foresty area once more, as Paul stood there, smoke rising from his body and his body darkened a little. Paul would then slowly fall back onto his back, his eyes turning into spirals, which was the indicator of a brutal knock out.
Doug ran up to Paul and got down onto one of his knees over him. He winced a little. "Damn..." He said. He then took a deep breath, gently patting Paul a little. Paul would make quiet noises and shake a little. "You did good for your first battle, little buddy... Return." Doug said in a soft voice as he held out Paul's Pokeball, which emitted a red stream and pulled him back in. Oron had fallen asleep during the chaos and his big ol' eyes slowly opened back up as Doug got back up, putting the shrunken down ball back on his belt. He pulled down his hood. "Well.. It appears I was outwitted in the end." He said softly, scratching his head a little. "Chu?" Oron asked in a confused way. Doug looked at Oron and smiled a little, gently patting his head. He then looked back at Josh and awaited his response.

Doug's mistake had cost him dearly. With one hit from Thunder, strengthened by the storms summoned by Doug himself. A fitting end to a passionate fight. Down went Doug's Poliwag like a pile of bricks. Smokey, dark and crispy. Josh and Lightning had handily beaten Doug and his Poliwag to end this battle in impressive fashion. But Doug had been impressive too. He made rookie mistakes, but this kid was good. Very good.
Josh smirked a bit as he allowed Doug to check on his pokemon, as the storm would fade. He would walk over when Doug resigned defeat. He smiled a bit and put a hand on his shoulder. "You're obviously a rookie" he said bluntly. "But you're good. Very good. You obviously have a ton of potential within you. Potential that could be brought out" he said with a smirk.
"Tell you what... I'll exchange numbers with you, you keep training your Pokemon, get stronger, get better. Get stronger as your Pokemon do. And when the time comes, we'll get in touch. I think what you need is a group, some people to train with and improve from training with and against. It could be a good way to improve both of us" he said with a smirk.
Doug looked over as the tall blonde approached him and noted about the skills and potential he possessed in a blunt manner. Doug scratched his head a little as he spoke and nodded a little. "Yeah... I suppose you do got a point there." Doug said softly. "I sometimes think a little too far ahead of myself before I can realize certain mistakes in my strategy after all..." He added on.
Doug then tilted his head when he made the notion about swapping numbers and a group. He scratched his chin a little as he explained the benefits of keeping in touch or even adding more people to travel alongside him to aid his training. While this was good, Doug thought positively as this was part of what he was trying to do... Find human people to be friends with... And now he might be traveling with more than just his beloved Pokemon... The thought intrigued him and made him feel pretty happy. He then nodded. "Yeah... Yeah. Alright. We can think on that topic of a group and keep in touch..." Doug said in agreement in a slightly sheepish manner.

He smirked a bit. "Just keep training" he said as he handed a number to Doug to register into his phone. "Keep training, keep getting stronger. You've got the ability to improve, and your Pokemon do too. In time, your Pokemon will too. They will grow and evolve, and you will become a better Trainer for it" he advised.
"When you feel you are ready... Go to Mt. Pyre. Allow yourself to train there, to get completely in sync with your Pokemon. Train there against the hostile inhabitants and bullies of it's depths, and eventually... You will find your way"
Josh would nod and wait for Doug to give his own number. Once that was done, he would look back at Littleroot. "I best be going" he said. "I'll be in touch. You put up an impressive fight, your Pokemon are good, but you also have much to learn. Just keep training. You'll find your way in time" he advised with a small smirk before walking back to Littleroot.
