Andrea knew that asides from her Rufflet, she needed another alternative source just in case she found herself in a sticky situation. All the same, she then proceeded to go around the outskirts of Santalune, towards Kalos region’s victory Road—and it was a very steep climb! Knowing that there was no way in hell she would be able to scale the entire thing and challenge whoever was waiting at the top, she then decided to toughen up her team members here, at least for now. She knew that she wanted Max to evolve, however she hadn’t had enough time in order to be able to actually get to use him in battle… but it would depend entirely on the circumstances that would arise.

She also had her Weavile, who had this weird urge of flinging Ice Shards at anything else that moved—that wasn’t her team mates, of course! She then sighed as she began looking around the general area, trying to find something that would be worthwhile… because she needed another individual that would mesh well with her “performance” dynamics… but if not performance, then definitely another member who could defend her in dire times would be definitely welcomed and appreciated! She then looked around, trying to catch sight of something, anything that was moving and looked out of place in the rugged, rough, mountainous area!

Andrea then decided to send out Max, even if she knew she had other capable fighters on her team. it was just that she really wanted her Ponyta to evolve into a Rapidash already; and it looked like the time was now opportune for the Fire Horse to finally grow… or was it? As the flash of red light then transformed into the overly-affectionate Ponyta, she then heard the sounds of scuffling… before realizing that they were not alone. “Hoo boy,” she muttered to herself as she then saw something that she’d seen a few times in the Unova region make its appearance—and it was just sitting down on a rock, of all things. “What’s it doing…” she trailed off, looking at her Ponyta for a few moments—before the Mienfoo’s eyes snapped open and then suddenly inhaled, before releasing a ray of star-shaped projectiles towards the two of them! “Yikes! It’s on the aggressive! Max, jump high and come crashing down! You know what to do!” she shouted, watching as the Ponyta then neighed before rushing forward—and then using the running start in order to be able to chain it into its Bounce attack.

The star-shaped projectiles, however, continued to follow the Ponyta even as he soared upwards; and he was shocked (not to mention dismayed) that this attack had managed to hit him from so high up! Back on the ground, the Mienfoo then composed itself; and Andrea didn’t have the slightest on what it was planning next—little did she know that the Mienfoo had used Mediate, boosting its Attack power! “Max! Get down here now, while there’s still time!” she shouted; and she heard the neighing coming from up above—and a few moments later, the Ponyta then plummeted, tossing its entire body weight against the concentrating Mienfoo—snapping it out of its Meditative state! Shocked, and very much angry, the Mienfoo then retaliated with a close-range Pound attack—or it looked like Tackle to Andrea, she still wasn’t too good at telling all the attacks apart—when she continued, “Retaliate with Fire Blast!” and the Ponyta neighed out of surprise; being hit with the Pound attack; several seconds later she watched as his mane flared out before the Ponyta arced its head back and then let loose a huge blast of flames that engulfed the surprised Mienfoo!

She then slapped a palm to her forehead—who knew that Max would turn out to be such an aggressive hothead when it came to defending himself when he was under attack?! The Mienfoo then sprayed another barrage of star-shaped projectiles as it retreated back from the sea of flames; looking singed; and the Ponyta couldn’t avoid it—but he could try to close the distance! “Max! Speed up, then hoof-slam it!” she continued; it was their agreed code for Agility, then Stomp while the Ponyta was at it. After getting assaulted with the barrage of aforementioned projectiles, the Ponyta then broke out into a rapid dash, quickly boosting itself into Agility, raising its Speed—before rearing up and catching up to the Mienfoo, and then bringing down its hooves on it in a Stomp attack! The Mienfoo cried out in surprise; but at that point it was already tired from running (and getting potentially roasted too) and therefore, it flopped over after the Stomp attack had landed on it. “Whoa, Max… pretty riled up, are we,” she muttered, approaching the slumped-over Mienfoo… and then chucking an empty Pokeball at it.
