Ah, for once, Josh could relax instead of finding lost Pokemon, keeping his Pokemon from killing someone, or dealing with runaway frisbes. Today, it was just Josh and his Pokemon relaxing on the beach, with both Josh and Lightning laying on beach towels under a beach umbrella, laying under the shade with cold drinks at their sides. It might be an unusual sight to see a muscular blonde man in his 20s sunbathing with a Pikachu sunbathing right beside him, cold soda in the exact same position on the Pikachu's towel as there was one on the human's but Josh didn't care. They deserved the day off.
His Pokemon meanwhile, were either running around the beach or playing with the toys he'd brought. Josh opened an eye and casually flipped the sunglasses from his eyes for a moment to check on them. Good thing he did, because he had to immediately shout over to one of them.
"Vector, don't try and eat that! It'll pop!" Josh called over to his Totodile, who had attempted to sink his teeth into the beach ball that his other Pokemon had been whacking around as part of a game. The Totodile looked disappointed for a moment, but would whack it over to Josh's Combusken, Vulcan. Josh couldn't help but chuckle a bit as he looked over at the guitar that was resting right-side up against a basket. He'd considered playing some music today... Maybe something to get his Pokemon singing and dancing as part of a game.
Unlike Josh, Mireille didn't have it so good. As the sun's hot rays beat down on the greenette, she realized just how poor of a person she was. Leaving her home and going on an adventure sounded all fine and dandy, until she realized how much it cost to be completely on your own. Most of the time, she could live off the kindness of strangers and even make some money playing her guitar, but the heat had gotten to her today. Parched, tired and a little bit grumpy after her long trek, she had finally stepped foot in Lilycove City. Mireille straightened her soft pink colored slouchy bag around her shoulder and looked down to her Deerling, Kisetsu, whose colors had changed from spring colors to summer colors simply because of the change of the climate. Kisetsu was visibly a lot better off than Mireille. Her food was free everywhere they went; all she required was some grass and a bit of water to be satisfied. Unlike her human friend, Mireille needed a bit more than that. Mireille grumbled as she put a hand to her rumbling stomach. Normally the light-spirited girl would be happy that she had arrived in a town that had a special place for Coordinator's, but right now, her focus was on getting some food.
...Or maybe it wasn't. A small bleat of happiness from her deerling made her look over. From their view on the hill, the ocean could be seen off in the distance. With a cheery sound, her deerling took off. "Hey! Wait!" the startled girl called, and immediately she scampered off after her partner.
If her hunger hadn't been unbearable before, it certainly was now. Even more tired and physically exhausted from all of this running around, Mireille finally caught up to her deerling as it pranced happily along the beach. Running after her friend wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for her guitar, which was strapped to her back. Since it was an acoustic guitar, it wasn't terribly heavy, but for having it on for hours and now to run with it... It ached her back like crazy. As soon as her sandaled feet hit the sand, she threw her belongings off and plopped them on the sand, promptly removing her light-weight jacket after that. She took off after her deerling with a spin, creating a billowy affect in her dress. The breeze down by the beach felt lovely on her heated skin. It would eventually cool herself down, but not if the water didn't first!
Mireille ran, laughing and spinning through the sand, until she reached the edge of the shore. The water that lapped around her ankles made her squeal with delight. "It's so cold~" she chirped over to Kisetsu, though she had no idea that Kisetsu was disturbing another tenant on the beach. A certain blonde-haired someone seemed to have a certain grass-type sniffing his nice, cold drink. Meanwhile, Mireille kept herself occupied with the water, laughing and squealing at how cold the water was.

"Hm?" he murmered as he looked over. What was that, a Deerling sniffing his drink (Which he hadn't opened yet)? He raised an eyebrow as he sat up, with his Pikachu, Lightning doing the exact same thing. "Well, hello there" he said with a laugh. "You must be thirsty, are you? I don't see your kind around here very much, so you must have a Trainer" he said. He looked over, having thought he heard someone speak to it...
"Hey! Is this one yours?" he called out to Mireille with a polite smile as he casually waved her over.
If only she had worn her swimsuit today. She wished she could just peel off the rest of her clothing and go for a dip. The water was feeling so nice, and she had finally started to calm down and get used to it... but then she heard someone calling for her. Or at least, she heard someone calling, and even though she knew no one in these parts, she felt compelled to look. It was a good thing, too, because the blonde man was indeed calling to her, and he was talking about her deerling.
Immediately upon seeing what Kisetsu was doing, Mireille turned beet red. "Kise!" she cried, stuttering a little as she started to fling herself toward the snooping deerling. "That's not yours!" As she got closer, she was able to shoo her nosy pokemon away from his drink. Unopened or not, it was still rude of Kisetsu to do that to a stranger!
Blushing like mad, Mireille stood in front of the stranger, in a bit of shock. How embarrassing! Kisetsu had really messed up this time! Though her punishment would have to come later, for she was already off and doing something else. Something else as in, playing with Josh's other pokemon and their toys.
Mireille's green eyes followed her deerling, and deemed that behavior acceptable. She'd get Kisetsu to leave if his pokemon were not liking her, but for now, she could focus on apologizing to the poor guy. The young girl bowed deeply and folded her hands down in front of her. "I'm so sorry! She didn't get any, did she? I don't have much, but I can buy you a new drink if she ruined it!"
The poor girl was starting to get frantic. Her speech sped up and she looked wildly around for a vendor, her green hair flipping this way and that. Her head was moving so fast that the goggles on top of her head had flung off and away into the sand of the beach.

He smiled a tad as the Trainer came and shoo'd her Deerling away, and stood before him. Josh would get up and crack his neck, looking over at her. She was panicking. Her hair was going everywhere, her goggles had flung off her head and he could tell the poor woman was going to have a panic attack if she wasn't careful. Her speech was speeding up like mad, it wouldn't do for her to hurt herself at this rate.
"Hey" he said, putting his hands on her shoulders gently as he stared into her eyes. "Relax" he said calmly, taking a breath. For some reason, he felt a sense of deja vu doing this, but he didn't really know why. Pushing that out of his head for now, he allowed her a moment to stop and look at him. "Look... She didn't get anything, it was closed, she only sniffed it. We only just got here not too long ago, didn't have time to open them or leave them open to be taken by your Deerling anyway" he assured with a smile. He motioned to Lightning to grab her goggles without letting his eyes leave hers, or letting his hands leave her shoulders. It was a simple, small head gesture that the Pikachu, with the cute little blue bandana on his neck, seemed to acknowledge instantly, almost as if he could read his Trainer's mind. "There was no harm done" he promised as he eyed the Deerling, who'd gotten the attention of Josh's Munchlax. Josh smirked a bit as he saw Bowser (Munchlax) trying to, what seemed to be anyway, strike up a conversation or try and play with the Deerling.
"Just sit down, relax. I have more beach towels just in case, and there's plenty of food and drinks for everybody" he promised. "Why don't you join us instead of panicking?" he offered with a small smile.
Right. Breathing. Air. She needed to breathe and to calm down. Mireille had ceased her flailing when Josh had put his hands on her shoulders. The closeness as well as the embarrassment that had started to bubble made her blush again. "R-Right. Okay," she nodded in confirmation to his advice. Her chest heaved with a small inhale, and out she blew from her nose. Eventually, she had calmed down enough to notice the cute pikachu that had brought her her goggles.
"Huh?" she uttered before patting her hands on the top of her head. Her goggles were gone! And that pikachu had brought them to her! With a smile that had started to appear, she bent down to the Pikachu's level and beamed. "Thank you for getting them back for me!" Mireille then pulled the strap over her head until they were around her neck. She then pulled the goggles up so that they were resting on the top of her head like they were before. With a few minor adjustments, she had tightened the strap so that they would not fall off again. One emerald green eye winked as she gave him a thumb's up. "That's better!"
His offer hadn't really sunk in until about now, when her mind wasn't distracted with getting her goggles back. Mireille started to glance about quickly again. "Eh? Eeeh??" she squeaked as she looked at the food and drinks. There seemed to be a lot indeed, but she figured it was all for his Pokemon. Her eyes then started to glimmer as she fought to hold back her elation. You could tell this really meant a lot to the tired and hungry traveler. "R-Really?" she confirmed, her voice slightly shaky from this stranger's act of kindness... If he was being serious, that is.

He smiled a bit as Lightning handed her the goggles. "Pika!" He chirped happily in response to her thanks. "He says you're welcome" Josh said with a laugh. He was glad she had finally calmed down. If she had kept up like that, who knows what might have happened?
"Yes" he responded to her iteration of if he was serious or not. "There's enough for me, the Pokemon, and for guests in case we ran into unexpected company again" he explained, chuckling. "Feel free to chow down, miss. You look like you haven't had a good meal in days" he observed, looking her up and down. He hadn't mentioned or hinted to the fact he'd already looked up and down earlier when she bent to take her goggles, but details, details, details... This was expression, trying to make a point, not observations like it had been earlier... Cuz that was observations right? "I mean, you look good, but if you don't eat right it'll go from good to a bit too skinny" he joked with a small smile. He had a feeling she'd likely been short on money... She seemed to be a traveller, like him. Probably not as lucky funds-wise, sadly. He was... Well, kind of lucky he supposed. His folks were famous, and wealthy. So he got a handy bit of money sent to keep his journey going. Not enough to live in luxury mind you, but enough that food wasn't a worry and he wouldn't have to spend months in a city working a full time job just so he could afford to walk to the next town. Course... He didn't know if it was luck or them making up for the fact he saw so little of them even when he was a kid. Who knows? Still, he was happy to share what he had with those less fortunate. She'd worked hard to get here, very likely. She deserved a bit of food, probably more then he did.
No, no probably about it.
"We were just about to sit down and eat, actually, so feel free to join us!" He said with a laugh.
Slowly, as if she was still unsure, Mireille started to lower herself closer to the sand. She plopped herself down with a small "oomph" before tucking her legs beside herself. She was wearing a dress, after all, and even though she did have a better change of clothes in her bag, there was nowhere to change into them. So this would do for now, she thought as she smoothed her dress a little.
"Thank you so much, I..." she suddenly said, her emerald gaze flicking up to Josh. "I really mean it!" With a wide grin, she then set into motion. Her fingers wiggled above the different kinds of foods that were set out in their little picnic area. Among the choices were the usual kinds of beach barbecue foods, like hamburgers and hotdogs, but that wasn't all. Fresh cut slices of watermelon and some little triangular sandwiches without the crusts were there too. Were some of his Pokemon picky eaters? Mireille certainly was. She decided to go with one of the little ham sandwiches, and she scarfed it down in two bites. A satisfied little moan escaped through her lips as her cheeks had puffed from being full of food. That certainly hit the spot. Now maybe her stomach would stop rumbling so much.
When that was demolished, she grabbed a slice of watermelon and took a big bite out of its juicy, sweet pinkish flesh. With how fast she was eating, she'd have a stomach ache in no time. But it was all so delicious. How long had it really been since she had eaten a good meal? That didn't matter much now. She was very grateful that this kind stranger was letting her crash on his day at the beach.
Wait. Stranger? Mireille still did not know his name! She stopped mid-bite and perked her head up to meet his eyes. "Oh my! I'm so rude! My name is Mireille Oliver! I should have introduced myself sooner..." If her fingers weren't full and sticky with watermelon, she'd have smacked herself in the head. What an inconsiderate guest she was being!

He couldn't help but laugh a bit as amongst the Pokemon eating, his new friend was eating just as much as Bowser, his Munchlax. She either had a big stomach or he was right about her not eating much at all. Luckily he had enough food for her and the Pokemon to go around, as well as for himself. He'd dig into a burger eagerly, noting how gracious and excited she'd been about eating. Poor girl probably hadn't ate in days... All jokes aside.
At her sudden introduction, he smiled a bit. "Josh Dragomir, at your service miss" he introduced with a small smile. "Good to meetcha"
"Nice to meet'cha, Josh!" she exclaimed before looking back to her watermelon. With the introductions aside, she could go back to filling her belly. Boy, was she hungry... She wasn't aware of just how much of a glutton she was being right now. She'd know later when that stomach ache hit, though. When all that was left of her slice was the rind, she put it down and took a can of soda from the cooler. Hearing the carbonation hiss after the click of the tab was always an exciting sound. Soda was not something that she had had often, so this was a nice treat.
After taking a sip of the bubbly drink and giggling, she looked over to Josh and tilted her head. "So are you a trainer? Or do you live here?" It was a large city, so she couldn't assume everyone she met was a traveler like her. There were definitely people who made Lilycove their home. And who could blame them? She has enjoyed it so far~

He smiled a bit at her introductions before the girl instantly went back to stuffing herself. Was this an eating contest between her and his Munchlax? Bowser seemed to think so because he was chowing down at a much faster rate then usual. Of course that came back to bite him and Josh raised an eyebrow as Bowser started choking. Before he could intervene though, the nearby Vulcan, his Combusken, seemed to get tired of the shenanigans and whack his teammate on the back, causing food to fly from his mouth. Learning his lesson, the Munchlax took a moment to eat it again, slower this time... Slightly.
Josh chuckled and finally opened the can of soda that had almost been taken by a Deerling attack. Mimicking him, so did his Pikachu and both chugged down their particular drinks with ease. Josh let out a belch. Not normal for him to do around a lady, but she was busy with her food so he was sure she'd be fine. Lightning though.... He was gonna get the last laugh or else. The Pikachu would come out of nowhere with a loud burp of his own, and Josh couldn't help but laugh loudly, as did Lightning.
"No, we're not from Hoenn" he said to her question when she finally spoke. "We moved to Littleroot awhile back after a load of shit happened. I was gone soon after. So... Yeah. I'm a Pokemon Trainer. And you?" He asked curiously.
Mireille had slowed her eating down enough to where she did indeed hear the belch... and to be quite honest, she cringed lightly at the sound. Such behavior was always frowned upon in her household, but she couldn't be sure about Josh's upbringing. And besides, he was offering her this food, so she kept her mouth shut. Though the look on her face probably said all that he needed to know.
Shaking her head to focus on his question, Mireille scrunched her lips as she thought. "I'm... not really a trainer. I want to be a coordinator... But to be honest, I have no idea how any of it works!" An embarrassed sort of giggle escaped her and she rubbed the back of her head. "I know there's a theater here in Lilycove, so that's why I'm here. I want to see if maybe I have what it takes."
Post by Josh Dragomir on Aug 18, 2014 23:12:16 GMT -5
Josh noticed her expression in reaction to the belch from the corner of his eye, and he couldn't help but grin. Sure, she was probably being polite and didn't mention it since he was offering her food, but he couldn't help but be amused at the reaction. Of course, he'd figured she'd be so occupied with her crazy eating that she wouldn't even care!
"A coordinator, huh?" he answered with a polite smile. "I'm sure you'll do fine" he promised. "I haven't done a contest in my life, but I'm sure you'll learn if you just practice. Maybe read up on it?" he suggested. "Do some studying, learn, practice... Then go to that theatre and enter that contest. I have faith you'll do fine" he said, smiling. That faith line... Deja vu?
