Ah, for once, Josh could relax instead of finding lost Pokemon, keeping his Pokemon from killing someone, or dealing with runaway frisbes. Today, it was just Josh and his Pokemon relaxing on the beach, with both Josh and Lightning laying on beach towels under a beach umbrella, laying under the shade with cold drinks at their sides. It might be an unusual sight to see a muscular blonde man in his 20s sunbathing with a Pikachu sunbathing right beside him, cold soda in the exact same position on the Pikachu's towel as there was one on the human's but Josh didn't care. They deserved the day off.
His Pokemon meanwhile, were either running around the beach or playing with the toys he'd brought. Josh opened an eye and casually flipped the sunglasses from his eyes for a moment to check on them. Good thing he did, because he had to immediately shout over to one of them.
"Vector, don't try and eat that! It'll pop!" Josh called over to his Totodile, who had attempted to sink his teeth into the beach ball that his other Pokemon had been whacking around as part of a game. The Totodile looked disappointed for a moment, but would whack it over to Josh's Combusken, Vulcan.
Stellar sighed, basking in the nice sunlight. She had wandered upon this city by accident, one of the many stops she randomly come upon, and the sight of the beach reminds her that she should indulge her more water based Pokemon, a reminder she's not quite used too. For many years her team composition had remained of those that are used to the desert, and to have some water types is pretty weird.
And thus, she giggled, watching her team playing around. There's her Lapras, enjoying the amount of water, and then there's her Seel, who is splashing water on a very disgruntled Ninetales.
Stellar paused.
Then, she choked out laughing again, burying her head in the other Pokemon by her side, her Leafeon, who is enjoying the sun and accompanying her Amaura. Stellar had actually assumed the Amaura would like water, but apparently Amauras are afraid of water, a new fact. Huh.
It is amusing, though, to see her Ninetales taking care of the two baby Pokemon. Saedea had no choice, Bry, the baby Seel, insists on the fire type's presence. Makes sense, since the Seel thought of Sae as her mom, which is by far one of the most amusing relationship in Stellar's list of Pokemon.
Bryiel clapped her fins happily, splashing more water at the Ninetales. The baby Lapras beside her joined her, splashing water as well, squealing cheerfully. Poor Sae, getting drenched and shaking her fur dry the best the fire type could.
The baby Lapras squealed happier at the disgruntled look on Sae's face, splashing harder. Saphriel misjudged her strength, however; even if the Lapras is still small, she had been growing up relatively okay, and that means her strength will match the size her kind is known for, soon enough.
The water splashed when further and harder then judged, hitting something that looked suspiciously like a Combusken.

Oh no. Why did you hit the Combusken.
Since Vulcan had evolved, he had become much more disciplined, didn't get excited as easily... Wasn't as easily impressed and didn't run off everywhere playfully like a child. Of course, in exchange, he also got a bit of a hotheaded temper. It wasn't shown very often, but Vulcan getting hit with water set it off.
"Com.... BUSKEN!" Vulcan let out as he ran off, steaming mad toward the source of the water shooting. Josh saw the whole thing and instantly dropped everything to run toward him before he could attack the Lapras or any other Pokemon.
Josh managed to catch Vulcan and restrain him before he could hurt anybody, and he looked toward who he assumed was the Trainer of the splashinators. "I'm so sorry" he said with an apologetic look. "He's not normally like this... Only when someone gets water involved!"
Stellar was instantly on alert as well, the moment the shriek reaches her ears and she could feel her heart beat faster. It was all very instinctual; the next thing she knew she's already in front of her Lapras, hand extended.
In a war it's stupid to defend someone without any power on yourself, but Stellar had been into enough battles to know that Spring is already in in front of her, the Leafeon growling at the angry Combusken. So what if the type matchup doesn't favor her? While not the most strongest in Stellar's team, the Leafeon is still considered one of the elites, as in, the one that been through blood and tears with Stellar, and that in itself qualifies.
Besides, Stellar never comes out without at least a few of her elites. Flanking the Leafeon is her Ninetales, who didnt' growl, didn't look too very threatening with water drenched fur, but the silver of her fur did make her stand out pretty oddly. The Leafeon knows that if things goes south, Sae is far more experienced in the art of killing, and that itself, makes it safer.
It was a few minutes of awkward tension, with the three baby Pokemon hiding behind Stellar, but the trainer watched the other trainer for a bit, before taking a risk and deeming him not a threat. She gestured something to her Pokemon, and her Leafeon and Ninetales gradually stopped their defensive stance.
"Go back and play," Stellar urged Sae, the Ninetales nodding slowly, before using all her tails and bringing the three kids to play by the water again, keeping a sharp eye on her trainer. Spring stayed close to Stellar, still eying at the Combusken untrustingly.
"...you have a very hot tempered Combusken, are you sure it's safe to release it here?" Stellar asked. A pokemon, no matter how young, can cause a pretty good amount of destruction, and Combusken are not exactly young, nor a weak species. Humans are squishier than Pokemon, so what if this Combusken lashed out and his trainer stopped him too late? Stellar almost shudder to think.

Josh watched carefully as her entire team was on high alert. He sighed and patted the Combusken's head, and used a towel to dry him off. After that, the Combusken seemed to calm down, it's shoulders lowered and he didn't seem to be threatening anymore.
"He's not normally like this" he said to the Trainer at her question, giving a sigh again. "He was so different as a Torchic, and he evolved just last week. He used to be really affectionate, really curious, and got incredibly impressed and excited over everything. A friend of mine and I were battling with these wild pokemon that had been agitated by weird habitat conditions, and my Torchic just... Changed all of a sudden. It was like he had something to prove, he started taking on those things entirely by himself. And then he evolved and took them out entirely and saved the town. But ever since, he's been... Different. I know Pokemon change with evolution, but this has been a bit much to get used to" he admitted. "He used to love everyone and wouldn't get mad at anyone. Now he's got a hot temper if you use water on him"
A Pokemon who evolved in the midst of protecting its trainer, while not the most uncommon of situations, hit a little too close to home for Stellar. She gave a brief glance at Sae. The Ninetales is guarding that babies alright, but from the angle of her ears it's obvious she caught what the other trainer said about the Combusken. Her Leafeon, too, shuffled uneasily.
Yes, Stellar knows the experience quite well. She could still remember Sae's awkward gait, too young to have touched the fire stone, yet have done so for the fear of them dead. Spring didn't fair that badly, but there was a lot of getting used to, especially when an evolution is forced by the fact that it's needed for a dire situation.
So Stellar felt a small wave of pity for the trainer in front of her, briefly wondering if he's a newbie. He doesn't look like it, but you never know.
"I understand," she replied, relaxing slightly. Spring stayed close to Stellar, still eying the Combusken more warily then anything else, ready to jump if something does go wrong. "Evolution is not easy if not prepared into."
She held out her hand. "Did you just started your journey? I'm Stell, nice to meet you."

He let out a sigh as Vulcan finally seemed to fully calm down, lowering his head apologetically to the Pokemon that he had almost hurt. Josh smiled a bit and patted his Combusken's head. "There we go" he said quietly, the smile shining bright. "There's the Vulcan I know. You wouldn't hurt a fly if you could help it, I know. I know. It's not your fault" he said quietly to the Combusken. "I know water bugs you, you just gotta learn tolerance. We'll get it soon, don't worry" he comforted.
He looked over at the Trainer and took a breath, shrugging at her question. "Yes, and No" he said as he smiled, taking her hand and shaking it. "I'm Josh, it's nice to meet you. Technically... This is our second journey. Our first one got cut a little short, and we started a new one in Hoenn just awhile back" he admitted, chuckling a bit. "I was expecting a personality change from Vulcan when he evolved, just... Not this drastic, I supposed" he admitted again, sighing. He smiled as Lightning finally caught up to him, the Pikachu with the little blue bandana hanging from his neck climbing onto Josh's shoulder and waving playfully. Josh laughed and patted the Pikachu's head. "This one evolved not too long ago, and he hardly changed at all. Vulcan, I guess I wasn't prepared for"
Spring relaxed more as the Combusken calmed down, but the Leafeon never truly lowered her guard. While one of the least violent Pokemon in Stellar's team, Spring is jittery in her own right, and while she had enjoyed the sun the beach has, the big body of water is still scary to the grass type, due to her past. In that sense she's as jittery as the Combusken, understanding him for his fear of water, but unable to forgive him enough that he nearly harms her family.
Stellar however, is curiously rolling the other trainer's introduction in her head. Second journey, cut short....she waved back at the friendly Pikachu, a bright smile forming on her face unconsciously. It make her pink eyes brightened just a little, giving Stellar a better, friendlier look now that there's a soft smile on her face and a less threatening, defensive posture to the woman. She reached out and patted her Leafeon a bit, to reassure Spring more.
"Nothing is ever fully expected," Stellar said wisely, and this came from her years of experience. They look about the same age, Josh and Stell, but Stellar had grown up far too early, and she's beginning to suspect Josh is, too, if only from the bits and pieces she grabbed from his intro. A dark thought gnawed at the edges of her mind, but Stellar refused drown in it. "What happened during your first journey, if you don't mind?"
Suppressed, flat memories of screaming Pokemon and shrieks howled at the back of Stellar's head, and if she could, she wants to shake it all away. Josh's answer, if he answers, would confirm if he's haunted by similar memories, if any. She can't repressed the shudder than ran up her spine, though, and Spring wrapped her tail around her Trainer's hand for support, the leafeon getting that vibe.

Josh felt the entire environment around him seem to relax as tempers cooled down. Good, it was meant to be a relaxing beach day, he didn't plan on there being a fight! Though the hostilities seemed to attract a few other Pokemon, who would make their way over.
"Cyndaquil!" something let out as Josh's Cyndaquil, Inferno, ran over to see what was up. Following him was Fawkes, Josh's Charmander. "Char!" he let out as he started to converse with the Combusken, who seemed to tell, in their Pokemon language, both the Cyndaquil and Charmander that everything was fine, and that the Combusken wasn't in any danger. Vulcan, at least looked docile now. Josh smiled a bit as he patted the heads of both the Cyndaquil and Charmander. "Don't worry you two, we're alright" he promised. "Thanks for coming to make sure we were okay"
A Totodile would come along as well, followed by a Munchlax. Vector and Bowser, Josh had named them respectively, and would get the same talk from Combusken, who seemed to be the oldest of the party. It was very likely that the Combusken was Josh's first Pokemon, even if he seemed to be closest with his Pikachu, if you judged body language and behavior.
Her question made him frown a bit. Memories flowed in from those dark days where his Pokemon were in heavy risk of danger, moreso then even him there.... Memories he'd come to Hoenn in order to forget.
He sighed. "Long story short, we were faced with something that no Trainer could hope to truly defeat. We lost a lot of friends, a lot of good Trainers, a lot of good Pokemon. My parents asked me to come back home so we could move away from the region and start over, once things got too bleak to stop, so... I took the offer. I didn't want to, I wanted to continue doing what I was doing, as much as I hated it, but... If I'd kept going, I'd have lost one of my Pokemon eventually. I've had a few close calls with this one" he said, patting the Pikachu's head. "I made a decision to leave with them for Hoenn in order to ensure the safety of my Pokemon, and it's good I did... Our home is a quarantine zone now. Nobody gets in, nobody gets out. We wouldn't have survived" he said quietly, his gaze at this point having shifted to the sand below him. "To put it into simple terms... Mankind should never try and fool with nature"
He could hear the screams in his head... Those of people he'd befriended over the course of his journey being lost... Their Pokemon being lost... Even the heartbroken faces of his family after his father's partner had been lost, which had started this whole thing for him.
"But.... That's all over now" he said with a small smile. "We're here now" he said quietly. He realized he'd been shivering as he spoke without noticing it, shuddering... His body had reacted to the chain of memories. He took a deep breath of the sea air and stared the women in the eyes with a big smile. "This is our second chance, yknow? We get to have a real Pokemon journey now. Like I wanted to do ever since I was a kid. I'm living my dreams now, and that's what truly matters"
They can be so easily forgotten, so easily pushed behind, but yet, when they do want to surface it is impossible to stop them at all. It's like fighting with something you cannot win, and if the memories are bad memories, you are pretty much chucked into deep water and left to swim back to the shore slowly, again and again.
"..no trainer could hope to defeat," Stellar parroted with a whisper, but her voice cracked, at the end. It sounded so very familiar, too familiar, and it's haunting, almost scary. Shrieks shrieks shrieks and Stellar wonders if the two of them came from the same region, same faraway region that Stellar doesn't want to know anymore, so blood soaked as it is.
She's the one that couldn't meet Josh's eyes when he offered the smile at the end, shivering hard. She hadn't had a reminder for so long, and the reminder slammed her hard, it's painful. It's choking her slowly, darkness flooding at the corner of her eyes and she felt as though as she could feel the wisps of madness she swore she would leave behind.
Spring suddenly let out a loud howl, snapping Stellar from her thoughts. The reeling shock of having snap back to reality left Stellar reeling. She took a deep breath, feeling as though as everything is unreal. Had she really been shivering that badly?
She had acted like a sorry fool, she realized, in front of this stranger. He must have think of her as one weird woman now, and her thoughts are too jumbled for her to pull a proper composure. "I-I'm sorry!" she half yelled at him, stumbling backwards and kicking up some sands. She wanted to stumble away, but instead, the sands caught her foot, and she stumbled backwards into a fall -!

OOC :: This seems pretty cool, that Josh seems to come from a similar background.

He heard her whisper, parroting what he said, and he raised an eyebrow. It was a bit disturbing how she'd reacted and the expressions she had from that.. He watched her eyes carefully, how they moved down, couldn't meet his own. He frowned, maybe he'd accidentally reminded her of something she didn't want to remember? If he could, he'd hug the woman or something to try and comfort her but... They just met, what would she think? For now, there wasn't much he could do... And for that, he felt horrible. He hated himself for that, but knew deep inside that there was naught he could do.
As one of her Pokemon let out a howl, she seemed to come back to reality and he tilted his head. He'd noticed the shivering just beforehand... Okay, NOW something was definitely wrong. "Are... Are you alright?" he would ask. She would answer with a "I'm-I'm sorry!" loudly, half yelling at him as she stumbled back. Suddenly she would trip and fall backwards.
"Ah!" he let out as instincts quickly kicked in and he reached out, grabbing her hand and pulling her close to him in an instant. He breathed quickly, his heart beating as he looked down at her. "Are you hurt?" he asked, concern lining his face.
Well, that could hardly be denied, being pulled into his arms like that. The warmth reminded her that she's alive and Arceus, there's nothing better than to be alive. Heart beating, rhythmic breathing, everything felt real.
"I'm sorry," she replied to his question with a whisper. She can't say she's okay because she's not okay and it's obvious her answer is going to be a lie so why bother? It took her another moment before she realize what a precarious position she's in, and immediately, she flinched backwards.
(Don't touch me, I have too much blood in my hands)
"I'm sorry for that!" she repeated, face flushing, before Stellar sank down to the sand, her legs barely able to hold her up any more. She just...she just needed some time to gather herself, a few seconds, trained by the fact that no one allows anyone to take a brief moment of respite in the middle of a bloodshed. She took a deep breath, and looked up to Josh from her position below him, her Leafeon nuzzling her arm with a soothing mew.
"I..I just," she stopped, but her voice had been gradually getting calmer. The tail wrapped around her hands helped, the Leafeon's leaf a soothing thing to hold on to. "What am I doing, hey, let's just...put that behind us," she suggested. What a fool she had made herself to be, in front of a stranger too, who did nothing wrong, since she was the one who prodded further. She shouldn't have, but curiosity had always got her into trouble and ta da, one awkward situation right up.
"Uh, you can sit, if you want to, I guess," she offered, a slow, sheepish smile lighting her face, "Well..uh, I can really feel my legs just yet, so...well if you want to leave I really don't mind Josh, what's with my display for a bit. So sorry for that." She winced slightly at the thought of being a crazy woman in front of him. She's not crazy...right? She just have a lot of nightmares and skeletons in her closet....right? Spring mewed again, nuzzling harder as if to reassure her.
