APPEARANCE

Description: They say the beautiful rose flowers in the thickened snow. Perhaps that may be true – with a curved form and angled features, Madeline has a nice, simple beauty that can be easily brought out when she desires it. Her skin can be flushed pink, and so often are her cheeks, but it still maintains a paleness to it, often due to the cold she surrounds herself in. While her body is curved and proportionate, her hands and face are slender and thin, almost delicate.

Deep blue eyes, much like the ice that she is often associated with, pierce through most who look at her, filled with whatever emotion she chooses to give. Her blonde hair is normally kept nice and managed in a bun, but when let go, it is a long ponytail. In strange lights, her hair looks almost white, often because of the snow that might fall on it due to her choice of Pokemon or home.

Her attire is often the same, due to her choice of home. Many a time she can be seen with her blue dress, long and simple, well-fitting as she has more than one of those dresses. The dress has black-and-silver adornments, and sometimes she wears blue gloves, although she prefers to not wear them. It also has a purple cape, normally used during snowdrifts or such. She also has a much more dramatic dress, icy blue in color, which she uses for more eventful evenings, such as a party or a gala. This too has a cape, albeit it matches the dress, both in pattern and color.

PERSONALITY

Personality: Confident: Madeline is quite confident of her battling ability, and likes showing off, if only a little. She’s not unwilling to boast her strength, sometimes a bit much. She, however, believes pride is healthy while exercised in moderation, and will recognize other strengths when she deems it necessary. She feels all confidence must be based in solid truth and fact, and as such demands that all those Trainers who think they’re “all that” either demonstrate themselves in battle or be training to be doing so.

Near Chiraptophobia: Due to her past, Madeline has a very high reluctance to being touched, nearing the point of a phobia. This, of course, can become very obvious in certain situations, where she has to politely decline a handshake or avoid a hug, something that sometimes makes her seem rude or uncaring. However, she tries to apologize and make up for it in other ways. Furthermore, she reacts very, very actively when touched out of turn, either screaming and diving out of the way, or turning icy hatred towards he or she who touched her. She is willing to let someone who she trusts completely to touch her, but she enforces that she is asked permission beforehand, as it would probably be a hard experience for her.

Jealous: Madeline can often comfort herself and put her humility before her emotions, but in some cases, when her emotions get the best of her, she can be a tad bitter with jealousy. It can be anything as petty as “I wish I had that Pokemon too!” to “I wish I wasn’t this damn reluctant to touch people…” Sometimes, it makes her act rudely, but it is something she has learned to control more and more, and she will apologize immediately.

Sassy: Madeline is normally pretty mellow and cool, but when she wants to mess with someone, she can be a bit mischievous. She’s all about dishing out the tea and just desserts, and she can throw shade like no other. Her kikis can be quite fabulous, and she locks the doors, lowers the blinds, and fires up the smoke machines, putting on her heels. She, however, can keep the fun balanced, keeping it from going out of control.

Shipper: Due to her inability to hold a physical romantic relationship herself, one of Madeline’s habits and personal pastimes is being a professional shipper – she really is uncaring for what sexuality, as long as it’s cute, funny, or fitting, although all categories make it good. She loves getting dished out some good yaoi, and while it’s never serious or obsessive, she often pairs up people mentally, only telling them something when it’s either really obvious or she thinks something is up.

Ambitions: Like most Co-Leaders, Madeline hopes to have her own gym someday, making the Ice-Type recognized as more than a simple anti-Dragon technique. Her biggest goal at the moment, however, is to overcome the issues of her past and overcome her fear of other people’s touch.

HISTORY

History: Madeline was born in Orre, nearby Phenac City, with much joy from her mother, albeit some seeming lack of excitement from her father. It seemed like a strange day when her mother brought the infant Madeline home, a dark shadow looming over her seemingly-cheery behavior. It was an unknown fact in the city that Madeline’s father was actually quite abusive, and would sometimes beat his mother, something she repressed and kept from the public eye. Madeline’s mother hoped her daughter’s birth would reduce the man’s aggressiveness, and it technically did, for some time.

As Madeline aged, however, the abuse began spreading and losing its focus from her mother, shifting instead onto her. It would at first be harsh verbal abuse, whenever she did something wrong by accident or caused some childish mistake. Her mother wanted to intercede, say something, but at this point was far too afraid of her then-husband. The child grew up in the home, trying her best to keep from doing something that would get her targeted, but it became harder and harder as she got older. The abuse began to become physical, and quickly Madeline began associating the touch of others as a negative thing, something to fear.

It was when the abuse almost turned sexual that her mother had enough. It was perhaps that most traumatic moment when Madeline’s mother found what that lowlife had planned for her and her daughter that she found the courage, both fueled by fear and growing determination, to take her daughter and run, run far away from him. They left in the middle of the night, when he was passed out due to too much drinking. Madeline, at this age, had grown to hate her father, and was very happy with her mother’s actions. After reporting him to the police, they moved across regions, heading over to the lesser-known Kalos region so they could start anew. Finding a home in Snowbelle City, the single mother scurried to find a job to provide for her growing child.

Madeline grew to love the icy-cold home – it was such an improvement from the hot desert that was Orre. It was perhaps the lack of her father’s abuse that she connected as good with the cold home, but she was left with the mental scars of the horrible years under his influence. She couldn’t bear to have others touch her, and was always sensitive. She found, however, companionship in her mother, who took a job as a baker. She also found a friend in a Pokemon she was given, a Pokemon her mother had apparently bought for her with a lot of their savings. The Lapras was very young, but connected with Madeline, who took to Pokemon Training with a passion.

Perhaps it was to show that she was not weak due to her past, or maybe to find something she was really good at, but Madeline made it her goal to become a stronger Trainer. Catching a Bergmite, among with other Ice-Types, she trained in the snowy cold of Snowbelle, becoming stronger and more noticeable. As time went by, she found herself interested in the Pokemon League, the same people who had helped her mother and her escape her father so long ago. Seeing an opportunity to develop as a Trainer, she took the Gym Leader test, failing twice but finally passing a third time, with an incredible turn of events where her B ergmite had evolved into an Avalugg. She was previously known as the Snow Queen of Snowbelle, due to her fair demeanor and her preference for dresses (they were more concealing, something she liked when it came to her past), and soon that title changed to the Snow Queen of the League, as she became Co-Leader of Snowbelle City.

She now seeks to not only gain her own Gym, but to overcome her past and explore the true depths of her strengths, hoping she can move over her trauma and Let It Go.
