Well, this was different from last time.
Josh watched as his new Totodile, Vector (THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, YUMI) dug through the badlands like it was nothing with it's claws. Why hadn't he thought of something like this earlier? The blue crocodile dinosaur didn't seem to have any trouble digging, and Josh hadn't even asked him to dig. Actually, he'd been digging with a shovel all day, on his second run here after discovering that stone before and deciding to give it another shot, and the little creature seemed to want to try it too.
This time, he'd brought quite a bit of water. Enough to last him and his whole team, if needed. Of course, all that were out right now were Inferno, Lightning and Vector. And all three were helping him dig in any way they could this time.
"Hmm.... What if...." he wondered as he dug, watching his three Pokemon do what they could. Lightning was trying to dig with his tail, but of course it was only moving very little. Inferno, his Cyndaquil, was having a BIT more success by using his hands, but he still had a ways to go. It was Vector that seemed to be the shining star here though, and Josh wondered just what he could do...
"Inferno, use Flamethrower on the ground here!" Josh called. The Cyndaquil would perk up before leaping into the air excitedly, and shooting out a jet of flames from it's mouth. "QUIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!" he would let out fiercely as the white hot flames pierced the surface of the ground below them.
"Alright, let's see how much we can weaken it!" Josh called out. "Lightning, use Thundershock on the spot that he's hitting!"
Lightning nodded and hopped onto Josh's shoulder. "Piiii.... CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he would let out, a surge of electricity that would slam into the ground area that was being burnt by the flamethrower, getting redder and redder the more that was shot...
"Alright, one more piece to this experiment" Josh said, taking a breath. "Vector, use Rage!" he commanded.
"Todo...." Vector would let out as it leaped into the air, it's eyes turning a dark red as he seemed to prepare himself... Josh was unsure if Vector was capable of doing anything here, considering he'd just caught him, but he knew not to underestimate him either....
"DILE!" Vector would let out as a surge of red energy would emit from it's mouth, blasting toward the target spot. Combined with the other two elements, the targetted area would explode from the impact.
Josh would manage to catch Inferno as he fell, and smiled as he patted his head. "You did great, Inferno..." he said quietly. "Quill..." he let out in response as they were engulfed by smoke.
Josh started coughing, but managed to fan his way through the smoke until it cleared. Below them was a deep hole, a good ways wide too. The experiment had been a success!
"Whoa...." he muttered as the four of them stared down at the hole. "After we all have a little break, let's see if we can find anything if we keep digging down there!" he said, with the four Pokemon leaping up in celebration.
After a good food and water break, they went right back to digging in the hole they had made...
