Well, this was quite the first trip to Kalos. Josh had heard rumors of rare treasure buried in the Badlands, in particular items that could heavily benefit a Pokemon Trainer. Some said Trainers from all over the world for some reason frequented here to dig for treasures unknown.
Josh breathed a sigh, wiping the sweat from his brow as he looked down at his digging. How long had he been here now? A few hours maybe?
He felt parched... Weak... It was too hot out here to be out here for so long without water. He fished out his canteen, and raised an eyebrow. Blast it, it was almost empty. But it would help him last....
As he opened the cap though, he felt heavy breathing on his shoulder.... Lightning, his Pichu had stayed with him this entire time. While the poor thing was too small to help much with digging right now, he'd tried so hard to help using his tail to throw the dirt from the holes Josh had been digging. Despite the incredibly small contribution, Josh was still touched.
At the moment though, he could tell Lightning was dehydrated and burning up... He needed water as much as he did, or he was going to collapse...
No, he needed it more, Josh decided.
He held the almost empty canteen out to Lightning, and the little Pichu looked at him before gulping down the rest eagerly. Josh's cracked and dry lips couldn't help but smile as Lightning let out a delighted "Pi-cha!" in thanks.
Josh smiled and continued digging once he put the empty canteen away... Lightning looked over at his Trainer and tilted his head, his expression growing worrysome... Suddenly feeling guilty.
"Pi....?" Lightning let out with an almost heartbroken tone. Josh looked over at him and smiled a bit, patting his head.
"Don't worry about me" he said quietly, his voice a whimper now. "You deserved it more then I do"
"Pi..." Lightning let out in response, cuddling up to his Trainer's shoulder as Josh continued digging... Not stopping no matter how tiring it got to even move his shovel...
