It had been a while since she’d gone around Hoenn, so Andrea here decided to go around and check if there was anything unusual going on at the moment. She then began perusing the Hoenn Classifieds, checking to see if there was something strange going on. As of the moment, she still had no news about the next leg of the competition she’d entered, so she decided to kill some free time by helping out with the local community. Anything, anything, just get me out of Lilycove! I don’t want them to find out I’ve returned… she thought to herself as she then saw something that caught her eye—there was a little problem going on over at Verdanturf, and it involved the flower fields that made it famous for attracting the elderly portion of the Hoenn populace to go live there in the first place. “Oh dear,” she muttered to herself as she quickly marked it as ‘taken’, before putting it up again because she needed a companion to join her—there was no way she could take on this alone, and with a pretty battle-inexperienced team at that.
Hoping that her advertisement for help in the Hoenn Classifieds would have some effects, she then sought out the fastest way to get to Verdanturf and was soon dropped off by one of her friend’s Fearow at the area waving at it as it flew back to where she’d come from, she then looked around and then—caught a peculiar scent coming from the flower fields that had been damaged. It smelled quite bad, so there was something definitely up. She then looked for the person who had posted the ad, and had soon gotten the crash-course version of the ad; there was something that was attacking the flower fields, and that they were striking in the evening. Looking up at the sky, she then realized that it was way past late afternoon; the sun was already setting, and that the gardener had muttered that the stench had been there for a while and it was proving difficult to get rid of. Placing her hands on her waist as she surveyed the damage so far, she then stopped to wonder how she was going to tackle this little persistent problem.
{Mission Details}Title: Stop and Smell the Roses? Claimed By: Open Catching: Yes (Hoenn Poison Types) Members: 1-4 Rewards: •20 Description: The famous and beautiful flower fiends of Verdanturf Town are in danger! The Breeders and gardeners which are in charge of those fields have found many patches of flowers and plants dead in the morning. The assailants seem to be striking at night, and they must be stopped immediately. Stop the Pokemon, beat their leader, and send them out of the flower fields, before they destroy all the natural beauty of Verdanturf. Did we mention they smell?
Notes: About 3-4 waves of Poison-Type spawns (Koffing, Grimer, Gulpin, etc) before their leaders (a Seviper and a Muk) attack. The Seviper and the Muk have 6 moves each.
❝ Marcus was glad to spend some time with his parents after he had gotten back from his short trip from Unova. Originally, he had planned on staying there for about a year, traveling around and seeing the sights. It may have been the cold, or maybe it was just him, but the trip felt... empty, as he traveled. It was like he was missing something, but he didn't know what. So, he had come home after a mere month of traveling, and has just been idly training his pokemon and himself at home. Of course, there's only so much he can take of just loafing around his hometown and the nearby towns.
When he heard of some trouble happening in Verdanturf Town from the neighborhood gossips, he stopped what he was doing, and questioned said gossips. After hearing about a somewhat exaggerated tale on what was going on, Marcus all but dashed out of his house, and ran to Verdanturf in search for a challenge. In his haste, however, he had mixed up his pokeballs, and had left two of his main team behind. The trip took him a good hour or two by foot, and he had arrived by the time the sun was about to set. After a quick breather, he noticed something off about the town. A quick sniff made the energetic trainer cringe slightly, as the air was filled with a sickening, yet sweet stench.
Getting the abridged version of the situation from a few gardeners had Marcus sigh. While it wasn't as cool as the people in Littleroot made it out to be, this was still a problem he was going to fix. When he went to evaluate the damage, he noticed someone already doing so. Guess this is my partner for the job. Marcus thought as he walked over to Andrea.

@xana / the stench is getting stronger... / 342
Andrea was trying to make her gag reflexes stop from making her throw up in the flower gardens; simply because as the sunset wore on and late afternoon turned to twilight, the stench was becoming more powerful. She was about to take a walk forward when she heard another voice suddenly startle her from behind! Secretly thankful that she wasn’t facing the direction where the voice came from, she then took a deep breath to calm herself and then turned around to find herself facing a black-haired, almost squinty-eyed young man who seemed to be around her age, give or take a few years. “Yep, I’m also looking into the source of the ste—smell, if you’d put it that way. So you asked the gardeners about it too huh?” she confirmed, just to make sure that he was the one who’d picked up her ad from the online posting. “Name’s Andrea, and you are?” she asked in greeting; giving her companion her name so that they didn’t call each other with potentially embarrassing nicknames. “If you’ve got a really sensitive nose, that smell doesn’t clearly belong here…” she began, before hearing something… slithering their way?
Was it slithering; or just her imagination? I sincerely hope it’s just my imagination, I sincerely hope it’s just my imagination… she trailed off, but to her dismay the small was becoming stronger the darker the surroundings became. “Oh boy, looks like they decided to turn up now,” she muttered to herself, reaching into her skirt pocket and plucking out two Pokeballs. She knew that she had to be very careful not to start a fire, because she sent out her Ponyta nicknamed Max, along with Lightning, her wild-child of a Blitzle. “Ugh. That smell is just appalling,” she said through a hand clamped over her mouth. No wonder they can’t get rid of the smell, they lock themselves in after the sun sets! She thought to herself, taking a few steps backward as the two ‘mons she’d released took their places in front of her…
As Marcus got closer to Andrea, he started to cringe at the stench coming from the ruined flowers. He was surprised that the girl, Andrea, looked pretty fine despite the smell. "Marcus. And yeah, I decided to check out what the fuss was all about. Definitely doesn't look pretty." Marcus flinched as he fought his own gag reflexes, and shook his head vigorously. "Egh... Let's get this over with soon... I don't think I can take much more of this awful stench..." He half-groaned as he looked around the place as the sun went down.
Marcus was so preoccupied with the stench that he didn't even notice the slithering noises until it was too late. Four Grimers came into view, and they didn't seem too happy seeing Marcus, Andrea, and her pokemon. There wasn't enough time to think of the situation as one of the Grimers used Sludge on Marcus. Thankfully, he sidestepped from the toxic goop, and quickly tapped two pokeballs on the right side of his belt. Expecting at least his Gallade to come out, Marcus' face fell when, instead, his Elekid and Magby came out. Crap. I sent out Ed and Magnum. He thought as he clenched his teeth in annoyance. While Magnum had some combat experience, Ed was a recently hatched pokemon, with no experience whatsoever.
Unfortunately, there was nothing Marcus could do about it, as the other Grimers started joining in on the fun with their own Sludge attacks. Muttering a curse, Marcus backpedaled away from the attacks as he glanced over at Andrea and looked at her pokemon. Ponyta and Blitzle... No type advantage, but it shouldn't be too bad... He shifted his attention back to his own pokemon, and shouted out his commands. "Ed,Thunder Straight!" Magnum, Confuse Ray!"
Ed, the Elekid, grunted, and dashed forward using the speed from a Quick Attack, and delivered a Thunder Punch to the nearest Grimer. Magnum, the Magby, on the other hand, fired a Confuse Ray at another one, making said Grimer dazed and... well... confused.

Her initial backpedaling was a good idea—because the incoming purple blobs suddenly let loose with their own attacks; and whatever came in contact with whatever they were spitting out melted on contact! Ugh, that sure is disgusting… she thought to herself as she quickly issued an order, “Lightning, go use Thunder Wave on the other three!” seeing that one of them had used a Ghost-type move; she’d had her own fair share of confused ‘mons on the journey; and crossed her fingers, hoping that the purple slime-things would just bash into each other! “Okay, Max, this is going to sound unusual but… turn up the lights and use Fire Blast right after Lightning’s done; but be careful not to burn anything!” she continued, watching as the Blitzle stepped forward, and then releasing threw quick jolts of electricity from its body, ending it flying towards the Grimer that were now confounded by the miniature Electabuzz’s sudden attacks along with the miniature Magmar’s earlier-launched Confuse Ray.
One, two, three quick jolts of electricity surrounded the other three unaffected Grimer… and that’s when things started getting interesting: one of the Paralyzed Grimers suddenly retaliated with its own, more powerful version of what had landed a few steps near them earlier (she could only guess what it was, but it appeared to be a Sludge Bomb attack) while the Grimer hanging out in the back launched a Mud Bomb… aimed at the Blitzle! “Lightning! Dodge!” she shouted as the hurtling ball of mud went screaming towards her Blitzle’s direction—and that’s when the sky suddenly lit up; even if night was beginning to fall around them. Sunny Day had been activated; and then her Ponyta reared forward, before flipping its mane in the direction of one of the approaching Grimer, unleashing a Fire Blast coming from that direction. The Confused Grimer was trying to regain its bearings, but ended up flooding the area with its own Sludge Wave; thus making the area surrounding the Grimer wilt and rot away.
“Man, that’s disgusting!” she said through her hand, clamping it down tighter as she wiled herself not to pass out. “If your little Magmar knows anything Fire, best to use it now—I have a Water-type that can put out the fire later if needed!” she said in Marcus’ direction, hoping that they would be able to utilize this strategy that she’d set up for them—the “sun” was going to be in the sky for a while…
❝ Marcus watched on as Ed's attack dealt some decent damage. ...Then watched as the Thunder Wave from Andrea's Blitzle narrowly missed Ed as it hit the Grimer. As amusing as it was, seeing Ed rage at Lightning, they were currently in the middle of a battle. "Oi, Ed." Said Elekid stopped shouting at Blitzle and turned nervously to Marcus. He had seen many of his older comrades go straight to business when his trainer used this tone. ...That, and Magnum told him some pretty scary stories of Marcus when he was like this. "Save your ranting for later. This is serious. If you understand, finish off the Grimer with Ice Punch."
Needless to say, the paralyzed Grimer went out like a light. Marcus then quickly shifted his attention to his Magby, who was rushing towards the Grimer who slung the Sludge Bomb. Seeing this as a good chance to attack, Marcus shouted, "Flame Charge, full speed!" And his timing couldn't have been better, as the Sunny Day came into effect right as Magnum was cloaked in flames. The flames grew more intense, and the fire-type slammed right into the Grimer. After impact, Magnum rebounded off of the Grimer, and was preparing for an Ember to finish it off.
Unfortunately, the Sludge Wave then crashed into Magnum, who was tossed back a few feet. He hopped back a few times, but suddenly cringed in pain. "Crap..." Marcus muttered as he pulled up his shirt to cover the lower half of his face. "Ed! Finish off that Grimer with Thunder Punch!" Ed, who was out of the range of the sludge, complied easily enough, and finished off the pained and paralyzed Grimer. Meanwhile, Marcus rushed over to Magnum, and ran a quick check-up. "You did well, buddy. Take a rest." With that, Marcus recalled his Magby, and moved next to Andrea.
"Magnum got poisoned, so he'll be out for the rest of the fight." He tapped the third ball on the right side of his belt, and groaned as his Zorua came out. "I'm really regretting rushing out of the house right now..." He muttered as his Elekid came back for another order.

@xana/ these Grimer are annoying / 394
Thankfully, Marcus was quick to seize the opportunity as the Sunny Day temporarily changed the weather to that of intense heat; however one of his own companions was batted back by the Grimer that had smacked it upside and caused it to get Poisoned! “Oy, who knew these guys would be so much trouble,” she began, trying her hardest not to let her own gag reflex take over and make her do anything that would be potentially humiliating. “Max, fireworks and then jump high!” she began, pointing forward, before adding; “Lightning! Go charge in like a madman! But be careful not to get hit or anything!” she added, finally having figured out her Blitzle’s attacks while on the trip to Hoenn from Unova. The two nodded; and the Ponyta then unleashed a Fire Blast attack towards the third incoming Grimer, that was holding its hands up like it was about to summon another Sludge attack! However, said Grimer wasn’t able to get its attack; because it had been smacked by another intense blast of flames.
The last Grimer howled out of rage and then tried to conjure up a Sludge Wave; however its target had disappeared—because the Ponyta had taken a running start and jumped up high; intent on using Bounce! The Blitzle then took this chance to come in with its Wild Charge attack, letting its entire body be cloaked with electricity as it then rocketed forward towards the Grimer that was now conjuring up said Sludge Wave—and barely missing the first wave of unsanitary assault! The Blitzle then threw its weight against the surprised Grimer; and backed off just as the Ponyta came crashing down from above; apparently flattening it. the Fire Horse then galloped backwards and away just as the Blitzle fell back; and she knew she had to be careful with issuing attacks—at least with Lightning, because she’d seen what Wild Charge could do to the user after repeated use. “Drat. Should’ve tossed out Lexie and put up a Safeguard…” she said, backpedaling in order to figure out the next few moves.
“Urgh. Do you have anyone on your team that’s a Ground-type? They could end this pretty quick but I think this is going to be a while…” she asked his direction a few seconds later as her two ‘mons came back and awaited further orders.
❝ After all of Marcus' pokemon came back to his side, he shifted his attention to Andrea's pokemon. The way they were fighting against the remaining Grimer was great. He could tell that the two horse-like pokemon were well trained.
As they returned to Andrea's side, Marcus kept an eye on the Blitzle and frowned slightly. He had recognized the move it had used; Wild Charge is a dangerous move. No matter how skilled a pokemon is, a move like that will always cause some damage to the user. Thankfully, the Blitzle - Lightning if he heard Andrea correctly - was fine, if not a little tired.
In fact, all of their pokemon, save for Sissi, his Zorua, looked like they need a little breather. Unfortunately for all of them, that was not to be. From behind them, a slew of shining leaves was flying towards both trainers and their pokemon. By the time Marcus heard them and turned around, all he could do was tackle Andrea to the ground and shout, "Everybody dodge!".
The colorful leaves flew over Marcus and Andrea, while Ed turned around, and began dodging and punching whatever leaf he can with Ice Punch. Sissi just began to run as the leaves followed her, not being able to do much else.
Thankfully, the two trainers weren't too injured from the fall, nor from the leaves. Marcus, who was still hugging Andrea, looked up to where the leaves came from as his pokemon were dodging, and saw two Roselia approaching, along with three Budew behind them.
"Uh... Andrea? We've got two Roselia and three Budew coming towards us, and they do not look happy." Marcus whispered as he let go of Andrea, and got up. "And can your Ponyta take care of the Magical Leaf that's still haunting my pokemon?" He whispered again as he offered a hand to Andrea.
