Indigo Plateau. It was a place that Akira had always assumed was out of her reach, simply due to the fact that she never bothered with collecting any of the badges. It wasn't as if she disliked the league or anything like that. It's just something that never really crossed her mind as something that particularly needed to be done. Either way, it also meant that she was probably never going to make it to this famous place. So imagine her surprise when she discovered that there was not only going to be a tournament held by the league that didn't require any badges, but that it would be held in the very place Akira thought she'd never see. Needless to say, she couldn't resist.
So, here she was. It was her first time entering a tournament in quite a while, and, after getting a glimpse of what to expect in the preliminary battle between Gwyneth Ferris and Yumi Tasukai (whom Akira just so happened to have a crush on), she couldn't help but be extremely nervous. She had entered tournaments before, but they were local deals, separate from the Pokemon League. They had the League's permission to be held, but that was it. Either way, in most of them, Akira faced opponents who were around her skill/experience level. But the battle she had watched was on a completely different level. Naturally, she wasn't going to turn down a challenge, but knowing that most of the participants were probably more skilled and/or experienced than she was made it a bit intimidating.
But, there was no turning back now. She was here, and she was ready for a battle. Already having chosen which Pokemon she'd be using this round, she decided to lead off with Rera, her Lucario. Thus, with the humanoid canine standing at her side, She waited for her opponent. She was still pretty nervous, and it showed. But, more than that, she was excited. She wasn't sure how well she was going to do, but she'd do her best. Even in defeat, there was always something to gain when it came to battles. Whether she'd win or lose, Akira had a feeling that entering the tournament was going to be well worth the effort.

Doki doki… doki doki… doki doki….
The roar of the crowds was drowned out by the loud, steady beating in Zernebog’s chest. His golden eyes were unfocused as they stared blankly at a random patch of wall. In fact, he was so utterly still that he would have been mistaken for a lifelike statue if it weren’t for the constant rise and fall of his chest.
“You’re up.”
Zernebog’s eyes snapped towards the source of the voice – one of staffers for the tournament- with a sharp, almost feline gaze as they went back into focus. ”Alright.” He replied in an unnaturally calm tone.
He stood up from the chair he had been sitting in and exited the waiting room, passing by the staffer without another glance. As he did, his steps were absolutely soundless, leaving the staffer wondering if the man wasn’t some cat pokemon or Zoroark in disguise. But that didn’t matter.
It was time.
Once he had walked out into the arena, Zernebog quietly stared down at his opponent for today. So this was Akira Mikan. He had to admit that the Lucario looked impressive even though its trainer didn’t look to be anything of note, but only time will tell if this jackal’s bark would back up its bite.
”Let’s give these people a show, shall we?” Zernebog grinned in a sincere-sounding way as he took out a pokeball and released his pokemon out into the battlefield, a massive black and red dragon with sinister red eyes.
”Rion, start us off, would you?” Zernebog asked as if the topic were about the weather.
With a loud, mighty roar, Hyperion summoned the sun and made entire arena hotter and bright. He then took to the skies with powerful flap of his wings, dancing around in seemingly random yet elegant patterns in order to keep his foe guessing as to where and when he’d attack.
It didn’t take long for Hyperion to decide to finally attack though, folding his wings and taking on a faint white glow as he intended to strike at his canine foe surely and swiftly with an abrupt burst of speed from Aerial Ace like the predator that he was, swooping in for the kill with a basic maneuver.
NOTES
Battle Summary: Hyperion makes the weather sunny with Sunny Day, boosts himself with Dragon Dance, and then attacks the Lucario with Aerial Ace.
100% Atk +1, Spd +1 Sunny 5/5 Sunny Day, Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace (STAB - 90 base power, cannot be dodged)
Akira watched as her opponent arrived, her curiosity as to who her opponent would be finally sated. Admittedly, he looked pretty strong, and, more than ever, she was doing her best not to look as nervous as she felt. And then there was the Pokemon he sent out; a shiny Charizard. Well crap. Not only was Charizard a fairly tough Pokemon, but it had a Type advantage over her Lucario. At the same time, she couldn't help but fawn over how cool it looked. As far as shiny Pokemon were concerned, she felt that Charizard was one of the cooler-looking ones, so it was nice to finally see one up close. Of course, she didn't exactly have time to admire, did she?
Either way, she and her Lucario nodded to each other once they were ready to start, and Akira watched as Zernebog made the first move. However, there was one thing she wasn't expecting...the lack of commands. The Charizard was, for all intents and purposes, acting of its own accord. Most of her Pokemon, even the unevolved ones, were fairly powerful; or, at the very least, had moves that packed a lot of punch. But even her two strongest, her Lucario and Serperior, still relied on Akira to give them an order during battle, which made it easier for opposing trainers to respond and react, since Akira was basically announcing what moves they were going to use to the opponent. Something that more experienced trainers have used against her in the past.
Regardless, the Lucario braced herself as the Charizard came in with an Aerial, knowing all-too-well that there was no way to dodge the attack. Though, thanks to her Typing, she only took neutral damage the attack (considering her pre-evolved form was weak to it, she wasn't complaining), though between the Attack boost and the STAB, the attack still packed a heavy punch. "Crap...the battle's barely started and I'm already on the defensive...alright. Just gotta go in fast and hard." After weighing her options, she nodded. "Rera, move in quickly to close the distance, then, once you're close, hit him with both a Double Pulse!"
The Lucario nodded and immediately ran toward the Charizard. Meanwhile, she extended both of her arms outward on either side of her body; in one hand, she formed a large orb of draconic energy, and, in the other, a mass of dark energy, both roughly the same size. Once she was relatively close to the dragon-like Pokemon, she launched the Dragon Pulse first, immediately followed by the Dark Pulse. Akira watched on quietly, both excited and anxious to see what the Charizard would do in response to the combination. Battle Summary * Rera took the Aerial Ace. * Rera used Dragon Pulse, then Dark Pulse! (roll for Dark Pulse's flinch effect succeeded) note: dialog in italics = Akira thinking to herself

After hitting the Lucario, Hyperion tucked in his wings close to his body again and angled himself upwards, taking himself back up to the skies. Once he was there, he faced the Lucario again just in time to hear the other trainer’s next orders to her Lucario.
On the ground, Zernebog was still grinning. However, his grin was now because of how obvious the order was. After all, it was hard to miss the meaning of something like Double Pulse. There were ten different ways for him to counter this particular tactic, but there was one particular method that he was keen on doing. Just for show, he was going to give Hyperion instructions even though he didn’t need it at this stage. After all, he promised that he would give these people a show, didn’t he? That included his opponent.
”Rion?” Zernebog eyed the approaching Lucario, still with the grin on his face. ”Show her how to dance.”
Hyperion snorted in response, but danced away from the two shots all the same with an almost ethereal grace that one would never suspect of a Charizard having, especially not one as fierce-looking as its shiny variant. Maybe a Dragonair or even a Dragonite could be expected to spiral and spin through the air with grace as it dodged, but not a Charizard. They were usually more brute force creatures. Usually, being the operative key word.
Once Hyperion had danced away from the blows he tucked in his wings, getting another whitish glow as he charged at the Lucario again at an even quicker pace. He appeared to be a solid white, fast-moving comet as he careened towards the Lucario to hit her again, trying to see if he can strike true again with another Aerial Ace that was faster and stronger than the one he had opened with.
NOTES
Battle Summary: Hyperion used Dragon Dance twice to dodge both Dragon Pulse and Dark Pulse. Then he attacks the Lucario again with Aerial Ace.
100% Atk +3, Spd +3 Intense Sunlight 4/5 Dragon Dance, Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace (STAB - 90 base power, cannot be dodged)
Okay this was definitely bad. With two consecutive Dragon Dances, the Charizard had effortlessly made itself stronger and faster than any of the Pokemon she had brought with her. Hell, she was already beginning to regret not registering her Rhyhorn for this very reason. At least she would've been able to exploit his biggest weakness, not to mention take hits from a move like Aerial Ace better. But, this was no time to kick herself over what she didn't do. She had to think of something, or else this Charizard was going to completely overwhelm her...well, more than he already was, anyway.
Once again, Rera braced herself for the inevitable attack, and the damage was practically doubled due to the two-stage increase in the Charizard's Attack. Akira nodded. "Rera, rest for now!" Grabbing a Poke Ball from her belt, she returned her Lucario. Then, switching that ball for another, she sent out her second Pokemon; a Starmie. It was a bit faster and sturdier than her Lucario, so, between that and her Type advantage, hopefully, she'd fare a little better. Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, she nodded to her Pokemon, calling out to it. "Shuriken, get ready for battle".
Unfortunately, Akira didn't have enough time to work out combos like the one her Lucario used with her other Pokemon, so it was back to the basics. Either way, even with Water attacks weakened by the extreme sunlight, her Starmie was more than well-equipped to deal with a Fire/Flying-type like Charizard...honestly, her only concern at the moment was whether or not the attacks would actually hit, but, maybe she'd get lucky. "Shuriken, use Reflect Type, then Power Gem!" The first move was little more than a precaution, on the off chance that the Charizard knew a move like Thunder Punch or Solar Beam that could be used to cover its weakness to Water-type Pokemon.
The Starmie's body began to glow a brightly with a red and light blue energy, signifying that its Type had been altered to match that of the Charizard's. Then, it gathered a large amount of energy into its core, before releasing all of it and launching it at the Charizard in a powerful red beam. Since it was a Rock-type attack, it would definitely hurt if it landed...at least, that's what Akira was hoping, anyway. At this point, all she could do was hope that the battle wasn't completely stacked against her. Battle Summary * Rera took the Aerial Ace. * Akira returned Rera and sent out Shuriken (Starmie). * Shurkien used Reflect Type! (its Type is now Fire/Flying, and will stay that way for the rest of the battle, unless Reflect Type is used again against a different Pokemon) * Shuriken then used Power Gem! (Rock-type, base power of 80. No side effect)

Zernebog’s opponent pulled out her Lucario and switched it out for a Starmie, causing him to blink. Those were tricky buggers, and probably a better choice to combat his Charizard. Not by much though, since he still had several counters at hand just in case a Water-type showed up. That was what the sun was for, after all!
However, whatever those plans were promptly burned up into smoke before they had a true chance to form. How? By matching its own type with Hyperion’s by the usage of Reflect Type, of all things.
Zernebog didn’t know whether to admire her unorthodox solution to a possible typing disadvantage –even though the Starmie should have the typing advantage at first glance- or be insulted that the girl used a tactic already used against him, even if she might not know that he had already encountered it before. Despite his usual cynism, he opted for the former since there was no way that she would’ve known about his bout with Misty. As much as he hated to admit it, he was still a no-name for the most part.
But that was about to change with this tournament. And for good and bad, he was going to stick with whatever changes to his life this tournament brought him.
Zernebog mentally shook his head away from those thoughts, and then mentally smiled smugly in satisfaction when he saw that his black dragon had danced away from the sparkling beam –Power Gem no doubt- without his prompting. Good, just as he expected of his best friend.
”Rion?” Zernebog looked more amused than anything else now. ”Shred it.”
With a mighty roar, Hyperion gained a white glow as he lunged at the Starmie again, this time at even faster speeds than before as he lunged into yet another Aerial Ace, as if he was getting faster as the fight went on while capitalizing on the fact that the typing it copied carried no resistance to Flying types. That was because he was, and both he and his trainer were wondering when their foe was going to catch on. Whether or not he hit –the latter of which being extremely unlikely as he was far faster than his foe- then he would turn around and launch himself into a second Aerial Ace to assault the Starmie again, this time from a different angle.
Let’s see if this would make that Starmie break. Zernebog was hoping so; he’d promised a show after all.
NOTES
Battle Summary: Hyperion used Dragon Dance to dodge Power Gem and then used Aerial Ace twice to attack the opponent.
100% Atk +4, Spd +4 Intense Sunlight 3/5 Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace (STAB - 90 base power, cannot be dodged), Aerial Ace (STAB - 90 base power, cannot be dodged)
This was bad. Like, really bad. Not only was the Charizard extremely powerful, but it was so fast that she couldn't even land a hit on him. Sure, she could have her Starmie use Swift, but there was no way it'd be able to last long enough for it to do much in the way of damage. Akira knew her opponents in this tournament were going to be tough, and that she'd have her work cut out for her if she were to have any hope of winning this tournament. But she wasn't expecting anything like this. At the rate things were going, she was going to get wiped out without so much as landing a single hit. She didn't mind losing, but that was not okay.
Either way, she knew there was no point in trying to block the Aerial Aces. The Charizard would easily be able to overpower anything she tried to do. So it was all or nothing at this point. She watched as both attacks landed, each one dealing a heavy amount of damage. From here, it was all or nothing. "Shuriken, use Power Gem! Rapid fire!" Akira knew how desperate this attack probably looked, largely due to the fact that it really was one made out of desperation. However, the inexperienced trainer was well past the point of caring. She knew that her chances of winning were slim-to-none, so she decided to aim for the next best thing; land at least one hit on this Charizard.
Either way, the Starmie's core, which was already beginning to slowly flicker on and off to show that its health was low, began to glow brightly as it gathered a massive amount of energy. Then it fired off three red beams in succession, pausing between each blast so it could at least try to take aim. Akira let out a sigh. Given how effortlessly this Charizard was wrecking her, it was difficult not to get discouraged. But she immediately slapped herself on both cheeks to snap her out of her funk. She might not have a chance of winning anymore, but she'd be damned if she was going down without putting up a fight. All things considered, that was good enough for her right now. Battle Summary * Shuriken took both Aerial Aces. * Shuriken used Power Gem three times!

Zernebog didn’t know whether to laugh or shake his head at the admittedly-pathetic showing that the girl’s Starmie was giving him, what with his Charizard already scoring two clean hits within the first few minutes. He expected far more from the Staryu’s evolved form since it had given him some trouble back when he battled Misty. He wasn’t sure if it was because the pokemon was naturally that weak, it was still adjusting to its new body, or if this trainer was that incompetent.
Tsk. And to think that he expected a challenge when he saw the Lucario. Ricki and Rep would both be very disappointed to see a Lucario utilized in that manner… that is if they didn’t take advantage of it first. They may be trying to turn a new leaf, but his friends were still pragmatists at their core.
Instead of taking charge of this battle like Zernebog had originally planned, he was going to let Hyperion take over the reins of the battle until the girl showed him something actually worthy of his intervention.
”You know, Hyperion?” Zernebog idly commented as the Starmie’s core began to flicker as he watched the black dragon adjust himself in mid-air. ”Freestyle it.”
The grin on Hyperion’s face was positively evil. It remained that way as he gracefully danced out of the beam’s way, feeling himself getting even stronger and faster as he did his familiar, twisting dance. The fact that the girl had said rapid fire had prepared him to dodge the second strike as well in the same dance-like manner.
Instead of dodging the third like the crowd and the opponent probably expected though, Hyperion glowed white and simply cut through the beam and right to the Starmie’s core like it wasn’t even there, as if he were a glowing knife or even a white meteor. Despite the fact that his move was normally weak against the Power Gem beam, he had taken so many boosts that the weakness didn’t even matter anymore. In fact, it was still stronger than normal despite having to barrel through the beam.
Let’s see it try to survive this!
NOTES
Battle Summary: Hyperion used Dragon Dance to dodge the first two Power Gem beams and then used Aerial Ace twice to smash through the third and reach the Starmie, using the fact that his attack has been boosted to
100% Atk +6, Spd +6 Intense Sunlight 2/5 Dragon Dance, Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace (STAB - 90 base power, cannot be dodged)
Akira could only stare in disbelief at what she had just witnessed. Not only did the Charizard effortless avoid avoid the first two Power Gems, but he literally sliced through the third. Despite that fact that it was a move that should have overpowered something like Aerial Ace. Then, as if that wasn't overkill enough, the direct strike against the Starmie's core had left it virtually shattered. Akira wasn't worried, though. This has happened before, and it always regenerated itself no matter how extensive the damage was, so Akira knew her Starmie was fine; it'll be incapacitated for a while, but it wasn't in any danger. Of course, knowing this didn't even come close to making her feel better.
Her hand was shaking as she grabbed her Starmie's Poke Ball, returning it. As for her next Pokemon...well, she was extremely reluctant to bring out her third Pokemon, so she decided to use Rera again and hope for the best. Even if that hope was extremely dim. "Rera, use Extreme Speed, then hit him with a Double Pulse!" If she was to have any hope of keeping this from being a flawless victory for the Charizard, this was it. She could just default to using Aura Sphere, but that just felt like it would be a cop-out. Even if she's lost hope of winning this battle, she at least had her pride...well, what little of it was left, anyway.
Either way, the Lucario moved toward the Charizard with alarming speed. The thing with Extreme Speed was that, no matter how fast the opponent was, the user would be even faster while using it. The only exception was if the opponent also used it or any other moves with the same effect. However, as far as Akira was aware, Charizard wasn't able to learn any attacks of that nature, so she knew she'd be safe in that regard. With this, there was a slim hope that she might be able to land a hit...or, at the very least, catch it off-guard just enough to hit him with the follow-up combo of Dragon Pulse and Dark Pulse. All Akira could do was sit back and watch, hoping against hope that this does something to the Charizard. Battle Summary * Shuriken took the Aerial Ace and fainted. * Akira sent out Rera * Rera used Extreme Speed! (Normal-type, base power of 80. Always hits first) * Rera then used Dragon Pulse and Dark Pulse (Dark Pulse has a 20% chance of causing the opponent to flinch)

Zernebog couldn’t help but smirk even wider when Hyperion struck the Starmie’s core with vicious force, smashing it out of the fight with a viciousness that would do both Erebus and Ares proud. Heck, if his grandparents were watching this then they might applaud with the way that Hyperion used sheer brute force to remove the Starmie from the equation.
Still, he couldn’t help but wonder why the Starmie didn’t even bother to try and use a water-type move. Was it because it lost the STAB advantage when it used Reflect Type or was it because of the sun that Hyperion summoned? Either of them seemed like feasible choices, to be honest. Maybe he would ask the girl once this was over.
Still, even he could admit that the sight was nothing compared to the girl’s shaking hand as she pulled the Starmie out of the fight. Ah… there was nothing like demoralizing your enemy and making them feel like they were utterly weak and useless. Depression made it easier for them to be defeated. One of his absolute favorite mind game tactics, especially when paired with the invincibility act.
However, that game fell to the wayside when the Lucario used Extremespeed to close the distance and hit his Charizard for the very first time in the fight. Even with all of his speed boosts, there was nothing Hyperion can do against attacks of that nature. But he wasn’t concerned. The game was still under his control. The sun was still shining after all; Hyperion will take care of this pest once and for all even if he was hit once.
Hyperion would admit that the hit hurt, but he wasn’t about to disgrace himself or his trainer by showing pain. Instead, he simply bore through it and deflected the follow-up attacks –which he had literally heard coming- by whipping them with a stream of supercharged flames with a superb reaction time brought about by his massive speed boost. With a warning smirk at the Lucario, he then charged at her in the air with Aerial Ace once again, knowing that she was even less maneuverable in the air unless she had something in her sleeves. And with how many boosts he had in power, this should knock it out of the fight as well.
If not… well then he’d just have to use the old brute force tactic. Nothing more, nothing else. Besides, the sun was already starting to fade….
NOTES
Battle Summary: Hyperion was hit by Extremespeed, and then counters both pulses with a Flamethower. Then he attacks the Lucario one more time with Aerial Ace.
100% Atk +6, Spd +6 Intense Sunlight 1/5 Flamethrower (STAB + Sunlight - 202.5 base power, 10% Burn chance if it hits), Aerial Ace (STAB - 90 base power, cannot be dodged)
Finally! She landed a hit. It wasn't going to turn the tide of the battle, nor did it bring any comfort in knowing that she was being completely and utterly destroyed. But she still managed to land a hit. As tiny as it was, that by itself felt like a victory for Akira. Of course, that "victory" was immediately made into a hollow one when the Charizard deflected both of her follow-up attacks with a Flamethrower and proceeded to finish off her Lucario with one last Aerial Ace. Watching her best fighter fall was always hard, but it was especially disheartening to see her defeated so effortlessly. Letting out a sigh, she returned the Lucario and grabbed the Poke Ball containing her last Pokemon.
From the ball emerged her Serperior, and it wasn't hard to see why Akira was so reluctant to use her. Being weak against both of her opponent's Types didn't leave much hope, and that's even without his power and speed being maxed out. Akira was putting on as strong of a front as she could manage, but she knew it was hopeless. Normally, she didn't mind losing a battle. In fact, she was a firm believer that there was something to learn even in defeat. But not like this. Never before, had she ever faced an opponent so brutal. Never before had she ever had she been in a battle that was so ridiculously one-sided. She could handle losing a battle. Being completely and effortlessly destroyed by a single Pokemon, on the other hand, was much harder to swallow.
Still, if nothing else, one would be hard-pressed to accuse the girl of not seeing it through to the end. She knew she was finished the moment her Starmie went down. It was, quite literally, the only hope she had of possibly turning this battle around. Yet it was just as easily taken down as her Lucario won. Akira was deeply shaken by the devastating beat-down she and her Pokemon were receiving, but she wasn't broken. As such, regardless of how deeply tempted she was to forfeit the battle she refused to back down. "Herb, use Coil, then spring into the air! After that, use Slam, then Aqua Tail!" The Serperior nodded. First, she coiled her long body up. This not only increased her Attack and Accuracy, but her Defense as well.
Then, taking advantage of her strong body and that fact that it was already coiled up, she used it to form a spring. With it, she propelled herself into the air, aiming for the Charizard. First, she made an attempt grab the Charizard with her tail. Should she succeed, she'd use all of her might to throw the large dragon-like Pokemon into the ground, using the speed at which she was moving to increase her momentum. Whether or not the Slam hit, she'd then rebound off of the ground and move in for another attack, this time surrounding her tail with water and aiming to strike the Charizard with it. Although Aqua Tail was weakened by the sunlight (the primary reason she opted for Power Gem, since it was doubly effective against Charizard and not affected by the weather), Akira simply didn't care anymore. She knew she wasn't going to win, but, in spite of everything else, she was still determined to go down fighting. Battle Summary * Rera took the Aerial Ace and fainted. * Akira sent out her third and final Pokemon, Herb (Serperior * Herb used Coil! (her Attack, Defense and Accuracy go up by one stage each) * Herb then used Slam and Aqua Tail!

Both Zernebog and Hyperion watched as the Lucario finally fell as well. Two down, one more to go before this could be considered an almost flawless victory for his side. He almost had that sweet, sweet victory in his grasp and now only the girl’s final pokemon stood in the way of that. Just one more to crush with Hyperion’s overwhelming might.
Upon seeing what the girl’s final choice was, he couldn’t help but chuckle. A Serperior? She was kidding, right? Even with the sun now receding, Hyperion was still going to eat this one alive. No wonder she didn’t release it until she had no other choice! It was practically begging Hyperion to off it.
Knowing that the battle was in good hands, Zernebog gestured for Hyperion to finish it off, preferably in a vicious and flashy manner. The battle’s been horribly one-sided so far, so he wasn’t sure if the crowd was being entertained. Might as well give them something to look at in the end.
Upon seeing the signal, Hyperion started building up huge amounts of heat around him as he watched the Serperior coil up as if in slow motion. Just as soon as the snake had fully coiled itself, the black dragon flared his wings and summoned the intensified rays of the sun again, this time without the fancy roar. Then as the Serperior sprung up to meet him in the air, the dragon smirked again met the charge head-on, but instead of glowing white his entire form burst into roaring flames instead. Even with the slight boost to the Serperior’s power, it was still no match for the combination of his own maxed out power, the sun-boost, and even gravity and speed, which smashed through the tail and right to the Serperior like it hadn’t tried to use its tail at all. Since most of the damage he had wrought laid unsuppressed, he hoped that it would be enough to end it.
After that, Hyperion removed the cloak of flames around him and disengaged, waiting for the next opportunity to strike. He found it when the Serperior sprung up again, this time bearing a water-covered tail. Still grinning, the black dragon met it not with another flaming charge, but his familiar white glowing swoop characteristic of his Aerial Ace. He met the tail head-on once again and easily overpowered it before pushing it towards the snake like how he had done his flaming charge earlier, only with a more insistent viciousness about it.
NOTES
Battle Summary: Hyperion summons the sun again with Sunny Day, resetting its duration. Then he overpowers Slam with Flame Charge and then overpowers the weakened Aqua Tail with Aerial Ace.
100% Atk +6, Spd +6 Intense Sunlight 5/5 Sunny Day, Flame Charge (STAB + Sun = 112.5), Aerial Ace (STAB - 90; cannot be dodged)
Ultimately, Akira wasn't the least bit surprised when the Charizard effortlessly avoided and counted each of her Serperior's moves. By some miracle, she had just barely managed to hang on after taking a direct hit by the Flame Charge. Not that it mattered though. There was literally nothing she could do about the Aerial Ace that followed. And just like that, Herb was taken down. Akira's hung as she returned the her fallen Serperior. With that, the battle was already over. Her opponent had completely destroyed all three of her Pokemon with only one oh his own, and with almost zero effort. Even worse, thousands of people witnessed it; possibly millions, if this tournament was being televised.
Akira was pretty sure that this must be the worst possible feeling that any trainer could ever have. Still, she did her best to preserve what little pride she had left. Not wanting to seem like a sore loser, she forced a smile and bowed respectfully to Zernebog "Th-that was a great battle. I...I hope for a rematch some day..." Bah. Who was she kidding. That battle was terrible. She was terrible. And every one knew it. Hell, she was legitimately surprised that she wasn't being booed out of the arena. Instead, she just heard various spectators talking among themselves. Most of them expressing disappointment over the girl's rather poor display. She didn't catch all of them, but every word of what she did catch stung.
Thus, Akira decided to leave and let Zernebog enjoy his victory. Maybe she'd check and see how Yumi was doing. Honestly, she had kinda hoped to make it far enough to be able to battle her, it definitely looked like that wasn't going to happen. All she knew was that she's not going to want to battle for a while now.

And just like that, it was over.
Zernebog was torn. He didn’t know whether to be smug that this victory was extremely easy or disappointed that it was like taking candy from a baby. He was more inclined for the former when the girl stuttered out her congratulations.
But for once, he stayed quiet anyway because the murmurs from the crowd were probably more than enough of a blow to the girl’s self-esteem. After all, it was one thing to be defeated in front of all of these people. But to be utterly decimated by a superior force without any hope of winning from the beginning? If he were the girl then he would have found it utterly humiliating to find that all of his efforts were for nothing.
If nothing else, this was a good measure of how he rated against a possible competitor as well as how far he had come all those months ago since he had encountered that blasted red alien off in Sevii Island. However, he needed to be pushed even more to find out how much he had to go before he could crush that bastard like an insect as revenge.
He gave the girl a brief nod and watched as she left, vaguely aware that Hyperion had landed behind him and was probably watching the girl’s retreating back as well. Once she was gone, he turned to the crowd and shrugged. ”How’s that for a show? Short and sweet.”
The murmurs grew louder, but Zernebog ignored them as he turned around and left, with Hyperion trailing behind him. Since his match finished rather fast, maybe he had time to watch the others….
