t seemed like an eternity for Jason as he waited in his small cabin room for the ship to make its final stop in the docks of Lilycove, the region's largest city. Recently, about a week ago, Sebastian had started acting.. odd. Now, Sebastian was already, he was a ghost type so it wasn't very surprising, but he was acting even stranger than usual! He had began hiding from Jason, stealing pieces of his clothing, shredding blankets in the shadows that he usually resided in, and most importantly, he had stopped playing his usual pranks. Jason did his best to cheer him up, but nothing seemed to be working; therefore, like the concerned trainer he was, Jason looked up a ghost expert. That, however, was easier said than done. Jason's father's contacts had no expertise when it came to ghost and weren't very helpful in finding someone who did. Which is why Jason turned to his other contacts.. Jasmine's. He knew they were a bit more.. In tune with nature? The metaphysical? The supernatural? Either way, they were his best bet at finding a ghost expert. Several voodoo and new age shops later, Jason had found out the address of a Hoenn Ghost expert, a girl who went by Hemlock Walters.
Once he had that information, Jason bid farewell to his companion, William, and bought a ticket for a ship that was making its way towards Lilycove City. His room wasn't the best, but it would do. Jason spent the majority of the trip training his newly hatched dragon pokemon, Nyx, and his musical mouse, Alto. Sebastian's pokeball was always on his body, though, just in case of an emergency.
After his eternity of waiting, the ship he had been on, the S.S. Sharpedo, finally pulled into Lilycove's dock. Jason quickly packed his stuff up into his backpack and hurried out of the passenger's living quarters and onto the deck of the ship. He shaded his eyes with his hand when he stepped onto the deck, the noon time sun shining bright. "What a pretty day.." he thought as he searched through his pockets for his sunglasses. "A pretty day," he continued as he put on his sunglasses, "for an unfortunate visit." Jason got off the ship with his bag slung over his shoulder and his hair blowing in the sea breeze, shuddering for some reason.
Twenty minutes later, Jason found himself in front of an average looking apartment building. Here was the home of the Ghost expert, Hemlock. The, hopeful, answer to his problems. Taking a deep breath, once again shuddering from some unknown cold, Jason knocked on the door of the appropriate apartment.
There's no such thing as good timing. Jason's visit was one that was mostly unexpected, and he was fortunate she was at home. The timing, however, could have been a heck of a lot better. Hemlock herself was in the middle of performing something of a monthly maintenence ritual - light a few candles, put them in a vaguely hexagonal shape, focus with her ghosts types and try to help relieve her Spiritomb of its anger issues. That was putting it lightly - the damn thing wanted to end all of mankind for what happened to it long ago, but Hemlock was unawares. All she knew was that it was overly aggressive, and performing this monthly sanction helped keep it in line, if only temporarily.
However, knocking at her door made that hard to deal with, let alone function in. She scrambled for a moment, one of the candles faltering - before it could fall, her Lampent caught it. That was an avoided bullet. Hemlock pulled herself to her bare feet, looking about before shaking her head and making her way to the door - pretty much unaware of her attire. The poor girl was still wearing some very flattering shorts and an old cami top that just barely covered her midriff - it was just her usually lazy sleepy day attire that she woke up from shortly before, not expecting anyone to come today. People rarely actually showed up except for when Ricki called her to get an opinion on such ghostly matters; Hemlock mostly sought out her own employment and solved problems before they existed.
Too bad she didn't solve the issue of being in a rush as she pattered her way to the door, pausing for a moment before cracking the door open and peaking through, her short brunette hair revealing itself first as her head, hand and shoulder popped up. "M-may I h-help you?"

hat was taking this Hemlock person so long? Jason wasn't a very patient man, even if it had only been a few seconds. He remembered how the villa used to have a staff that would get the door almost as soon it had been ringed, or knocked on, or whatever. There was never any waiting at that house. Everything was done as quickly and efficiently as possible with as little emotion and passion that the staff could possess. It was almost as if the staff were robotic creatures; what with their stone cold hearts and nonexistent personalities.
Jason's musings, however, were cut short when he heard something crash on the other side of the door, or at least fall. "Oh.." Jason said to himself. What if this person, Hemlock, was handicapped and his wishing for her to hurry had somehow caused her to fall out of her wheelchair?! Or hit her head? Or crash into the couch? What if she was an elderly woman who had fallen and couldn't get up?!
He was wrong, of course. The door to the apartment he had been waiting at cracked open, revealing a girl, around his age if not a little older, with short brown hair and a sort of.. Jason couldn't put his finger on it, but the appearance of someone who didn't want to be disturbed. She looked like the average shy, quiet, library girl; and those girls, Jason thought with a fierce smirk, were the most challenging. Jason was thinking of some kind of witty pickup line that would impress her, when she asked, "M-may I h-help you?"
Ohhhhhh yes, he was right. Shy, very shy, and with a cute stutter to put it all together. Jason flashed her one his dazzling and breath taking smiles and began, "Yes, yes you may. I'm searching for an expert on Ghost, a mysterious beauty known as 'Hemlock'. Would you happen to know her?" Slick. Reallll slick.
Had he not mentioned her as a Ghost-type specialist, she would have closed the door on him then and there. Coordinators were somewhat used to things like catcalls and overly-eager fans and such who wanted to get to know the participants - it was a fatal flaw of public performances. However, Hemlock didn't exactly have fans to her knowledge, and this guy just seemed like he was here on some random whim except for knowing she was an expert.
She flustered up a light shade of pink, blinking away his smile and comments. "I-I'm Hemlock, s-sir." With a gulp, she peered her head a bit further out into the hall, looking around for... well, anyone else. None of the other tenantswere out and about, however, so it was still somewhat safe for her to be peeking her head out. They weren't exactly fond of her and her hobbies. Not many people in Lilycove cared much for her, to be honest. Setting someone on fire tended to leave that kind of reputation abound in the city.
"W-what d-do you need?" She asked this without looking at him, then pulled her brown eyes to his face, quirking a single eyebrow. She was curious as to why someone would go all the way out here for a house call, unless it was super serious.
Speaking of her home, the scene behind her - while not visible to Jason - was quite busy, as her various Ghost types moved out and about through the multiroom apartment.

e was right, of course. The shy bookworm looking girl blushed at his question and genious pickup line. Batting her eyes, she peered around the corner of her door and said, rather quietly, "I-I'm Hemlock, s-sir." What was she looking for? Was she expecting someone? A date?! He was so caught up in thinking about what she was doing or expecting, he barely realized she had spoken. It was going to be hard working, or flirting, with this girl. She spoke so softly, so quietly, that Jason truly did have trouble hearing the young ghost whisperer. Get it? Ghost.. Whisperer.. Whisper.. Quiet? Nonetheless, Jason was determined to get his pokemon help.
"W-what d-do you need?" the young woman asked, not looking at him, but finally looking up to his face. He gave her a sad smile, not really trying to seduce her or any of his other usual antics. With a deep sigh, he said with the voice of one who has repeated something multiple times, "My Duskull, Sebastian, has been acting very.. odd. He refuses to interact with anyone else on the team, has been stealing things, spending periods of time where he eats almost nothing, then the next day, he eats everyone else's food! Not only that, he stopped playing pranks on everyone. I've taken him to one of the Joy Nurses, but they just said it was a small issue and I shouldn't worry, but he hasn't gotten any better. Which is why I'm here. I need your help, Hemlock."
Jason really wanted, no needed, the help of this woman; and he would not take no for an answer.
She listened patiently to his explanation, as it wasn't just some odd pick up attempt but, rather, an actual issue that she could potentially help and fix. She listened out, her brain flipping through all the potential causes, but once he elaborated that he was being greedy with food... well, she was all but sure of what the issue was. She just needed to confirm it, is all. To do so, however, she'd need to see his Duskull up close, and to do that, she'd probably have to actually entertain a house guest for a bit...
"I-I can help, sir, j-just... follow m-me." She edged the door open and turned, hoping that he'd follow her as she moved her bare feet across her floor, reaching over for the hall light switch to shed some light into the central room. There wasn't much to it - aside from the mess of candles from earlier, there was a small coffee table and a futon, folded up to act like a couch. Bookshelves filled the rest of the room - every square inch - and they were packed with all manner of novels and information. Everything from adult novels to creepy-ass books that looked like they were made from something that was not leather.
"T-take a seat, sir." She gestured to the futon while she moved off to a room on the right, going off to find the book she needed. While Jason did... whatever it is that Jasons do, he might be aware of the traffic of ghosts in and through the rooms - the Duskull that casually phased to the coffee table and sat on it, the Banette that moved through one of the doors, the Lampent descending down from the ceiling into the room - ghosts all over the place, it would seem.
Hemlock came back, a heavyset book in hand as she closed the door behind her. "M-mind letting y-your Duskull out, sir?"

ason looked to the floor, switching roles with the shy girl who stood in front of him. He was embarrassed and worried, just not himself, from having to explain what was wrong with Sebastian. He felt ashamed because he wasn't capable enough of a trainer to take care of his own pokemon. What kind of trainer couldn't take care of their own pokemon, or at least figure out what was wrong with them.. Jason let out a sigh, and glanced up a little to see Hemlock looking down on him, her face seemingly filled with pity.
"I-I can help, sir, j-just... follow m-me." she said, opening the door to her apartment more and turning, giving Jason a chance to enter. When he entered, however, he was a bit shocked by what he saw. There was wax and stubby candles on the floor of the living room area with various ghost types floating around. Not only that, it was dark in the room, until Hemlock flipped a switch and brightened the room. She motioned towards the couch thing and said "T-take a seat, sir." and quickly hurried to another room. After she left the room, Jason looked around and took in his surroundings. Other than the odd decorative piece of decor, the walls were plated with bookshelves. Jason got up to inspect the nearest bookshelf and found a book that he was, surprisingly, familiar with. An Introduction to the Supernatural was the title of the book in hands. Jasmine had owned one of these, and had it passed down to him in her will. She knew Jason had a liking for Psychic, Dark, and Ghost types..
As he put the book away, his hand knocked out a random book onto the floor, and startled him and a passing by Banette. Jason picked it up, casually, and was about to put it away when he saw the title; The Aura. Once again, a term or topic that he was often told of by Jasmine. She was an aura user, her and her Lucario.. A small smile formed on his face thinking about her, and he sat down feeling happy and content. Rightly so, a Duskull came by and sat in front of him, wanting to feel his positive emotions and probably attempt to eat them. Almost immediately after the Duskull appeared, its trainer did as well, holding a large book. "M-mind letting y-your Duskull out, sir?" she asked, before closing the door behind her.
Jason looked around, worried about how his pokemon would react, but nodded. "Um.. No problem. Sure." was his reply as he produced a pokeball from his pocket and tossed it in the air. From the small explosion of light that followed, an eerie and large looking Duskull appeared.
His Duskull was a tad larger than her own, it seemed. She leaned back ever so slightly to take it all in as she kept the book clutched tight to her chest, staring down the one-eyed ghoul for a moment. Yeah, it was time to a check up. Hemlock balanced the book against her hip, opening it up to a well marked page, the old pages flapping down with a touch of sound.
The ghost girl reached her hand out to touch his Duskull, running her hand from top to bottom, nodding as she did so. She continued little stuff like this for a moment as her eyes skimmed the page, doing her best to keep his attention before she raised her eyebrows. Curious. "S-sir, h-how old is h-he?"she inquired, closing and setting the book down and moving over to another book shelf, plucking off a small, green-leather book and opening it at the shelf itself, as if to double check a guess.
Hemlock wasn't the only one moving around, even if she was the one on tip-toes in night clothes. A Lampent phased in behind Jason, eyeing him for a moment before moving away... backwards, of course, eyes on him the entire time as he took up a position in the corner. The Banette from earlier decided it was play time and moved in through a shadow to under Jason's ghost, popping up like a Jack-In-The-Box.
A Gastly, not visible from earlier, moved in from the bedroom, keeping close to the ceiling as it moved by to hit the kitchen area to haunt it for a bit, because wynaut. Hemlock hummed for a moment as she thought she had it pegged.
". . . he m-may be r-ready to e-evolve, o-or battle more, sir."

ebastian came forth from the pokeball and did nothing but float in the air for a few moments. In front of him was a female Human carrying a book of some sorts. Not that he cared, really. He was hungry. Very hungry. He scanned the room for food with his single red eye and was pleased with what he saw. In the past, he had often snacked on small vermin that littered the hideaways and alleys of the cities that Trainer visited; however, his hunger had grown recently, and he began to crave spirits and other ghost like pokemon. There were plenty of those around, and as he was about to jump at a hidden Banette, the female Human standing in front of him placed her hand on him, and he froze. What was she doing?! Did Trainer know of this? Sebastian eyed Jason for a moment, and not sensing any danger, allowed the female to touch him, for the moment at least.
"S-sir, h-how old is h-he?" Hemlock asked while she pet Sebastian, before she stopped and walked over towards the bookshelf. Jason did the math in his head and after a small pause, he said, "A little over a year old, I think. We celebrated his hatchday was a couple months ago." Hemlock didn't give much of a response, but she must have heard him as she set the book in her hand down and reached for another one, flipping through the pages once she had it in her hands.
Jason didn't notice any of the shenanigans that were going on behind him, but Sebastian did. The other ghost were mocking him, taunting him to attack, or that's what he thought at least.. He would have gone after them then and there, but Trainer and the other Human were too close for him to make any kind of attack. Plus, the last time one of his allies had done something of this nature, a huge battle ensured and Trainer himself had been harmed! Nay, he would not attack now, but he would have his chance...
". . . he m-may be r-ready to e-evolve, o-or battle more, sir." the nightgown clad girl said softly. "Oh." Jason mumbled, just as softly as the girl. This was a surprise, Jason had assumed that Sebastian was just moody or something, but evolution?! It's not like he'd never seen it before, it was a common sight on the ranch his father owned, but Jason hadn't expected his own pokemon to evolve. Which was stupid, but he just hadn't really considered it. "This is.. news, to say the least." Jason said, a smile appearing on his face as he put his hands behind his head and sat on the couch, flexing his biceps simultaneously. He looked around the room, noted the different ghost type pokemon, and asked, as casually as he could, "Would you mind battling me? A one on one thing, so Sebastian can evolve.."
A little over a year was plenty old enough for her evolution theory. Duskull tended to strike out and try to find their own place to reside and haunt around this time, and they tended to have a lot of built up tension, anxiety, and - hardest to keep up with - an appetite befitting one who was about to change forms. Hemlock's own Skelle had given her budget a hard time when it came to feeding her, although the evolutionary process itself went quite simple once she beat up the boy trying to flirt with her.
Hemlock herself had moved to go put her book up, curiously studying one more page before closing it with a light thwump as Jason digested the news. She half expected him to question her judgement, as not many people would just take what she had to say as a fact of the matter or anything like that. Jason, however, was going to throw the girl in her home-wear a curve ball as she tip-toed, trying to reach the shelf to replace the book, the tip of her shirt just letting the tiny tail-end of countless scars show through on her back before she turned in a slight mix of hesitation and shock.
"B-battle? Um..." Hemlock shifted her eyes to the side, then all around to look at her collection of spooks. "I mean, I-I don't really b-battle, but I'm s-sure one of them will o-o-oblige, sir." That was her prompt, and soon someone answered, with her longtime life partner Dusclops moving around to squint at her pre-evolutionary form. Skelle seemed willing to do what she could. Hell, she had been through an awful gender-change curse once, she could handle a younger member of the species evolving.
". . . s-seems Skelle w-wishes to do so. Um, i-if you'll, uh, give me a minute to... get d-dressed, I'll m-meet you out in the h-hall and t-take you to the.... w-well, a place w-we can battle."

ason was not surprised at all by her reaction to his request. He watched her put away the book and falter a little as she said, "B-battle? Um..." Her eyes went around the room, scanning through her various ghost pokemon. Jason simply watched and waited, almost positive she would battle him. A few minutes passed before she softly said, "I mean, I-I don't really b-battle, but I'm s-sure one of them will o-o-oblige, sir." That was a little bit more of a surprise for the handsome blond, but he was even more surprised when a Dusclops, the evolution of Sebastian, stepped forth from the shadows and approached Sebastian.
The pre-evolution stared at its evolution, saying nothing. This was what he would look like soon, less feminine of course, but something similar. Sebastian was very tempted to touch the other pokemon and sniff at it, get some kind of familiar sense with it, but the other Human's voice rang out and startled him as she said, ". . . s-seems Skelle w-wishes to do so. Um, i-if you'll, uh, give me a minute to... get d-dressed, I'll m-meet you out in the h-hall and t-take you to the.... w-well, a place w-we can battle." Jason was still watching the Dusclops, worried how Sebastian would handle an already evolved pokemon, but nodded. "Sure thing. Sebastian and I will be waiting outside for you." He said, getting up and gathering the Duskull in his arms. As he was leaving, Jason added with a wink, "Don't take too long getting dressed, and you don't need any make up, you look great without it."
So it was settled; she was stuck in a battle with this... blonde guy. A guy that just randomly showed up with his Duskull and moved along into her apartment and presented his case. She was now stuck with dealing with this entire mess, as well as later coming back to finish the interrupted ceremony; she had two more nights to do it before the Roman constellation moved out of alignment, after all.
Things probably would have gone better for Hemlock had he not shot her the last minute compliment on his way out. She flushed, unsure of how to even respond to such advances; they were foreign and unknown to her. Hell, people who grew up in Lilycove knew to avoid the girl who set another on fire a few years back, even if it wasn't her fault in the least. Well, maybe using a Litwick she had little control over was somewhat her fault, but... the gist of it was that she was innocent, and had that innocent beaten and robbed and mugged and pillaged.
But then he was out of her room and she was left standing in silence for a moment before catching up to the moment, shoving out to go and grab a set of clothes to throw on some better clothes - in the end simply throwing on an old band shirt with long sleeves and one of those miniature hoodie parts, as well as a pair of capris. Simple enough and the first things she got her hands on - and then, grabbing up her appropriate Pokeballs, she moved out into the hall.
The Dusclops phased through the door as it closed, with Hemlock nodding to Jason. "F-follow me, sir."
---
One building and a street crossing later, and they were at the location - a simple park-like area with a large, open area, surrounded by a few trees and some very green grass. An ideal location, right?

he wait for the ghostly girl wasn't too terrible, at least in Jason's eyes. His own mother often took hours to prepare for any kind of trip into town. They could be traveling to the grocery store, or even a short trip to a neighbor's house, and she would spend hours choosing an outfit, prepping her hair, and doing her makeup. Jason would usually sit in their large living area, his eyes glazed over from staring at the PokeNav. This time, however, it was about a ten minute wait.
When Hemlock finally appeared from the doorway, pokeball in hand, she looked.. cute. In fact, if anyone else had been watching the pair, it would have looked like they were getting ready to go on a date. Watching her, he wasn't really surprised when her Dusclops phased through the door. She then nodded to Jason sand said, "F-follow me, sir." Jason smiled at her and followed. After a short walk through her apartment building and crossing the street, the odd duo found themselves in a lovely park. The grass was a brilliant shade of green, and the few trees that were there added to the natural beauty of the area. Inhaling the scents of spring, Jason grinned and turned to his soon to be opponent. "I'm ready when you are, babe." he said, his Duskull circling him anxiously.
