Kouji decided that it was high time to get busy and get to some exploring. Since there was nothing much to see in Humilau, he decided to take a little vacation. Making sure that Alexander and Elizabeth were in their respective Pokeballs, he then hung a sign on his ranch that said “Out for the Day” and then proceeded to make his way towards Undella Town, which was now more accessible thanks to the Undersea Tube. As he went down the stairs, he made sure not to trip over himself in excitement—even if the tunnel was all but deserted. As he walked the length of said tunnel, he couldn’t help but look around him—it was as if everything was this perfect shade of blue.
After reaching the end of the tunnel, he ascended the stairs and finally found himself in the tin resort town, but he wasn’t here to relax—he was here to train! He then whistled as he began looking around, and in a flash of red light, sent out Elizabeth, his perky Misdreavus. Once she was floating in the air near his presence, she then looked at him before asking, “Misdreavus?” out of curiosity—this place was completely alien to the Pokemon in question. “Well then, Beth,” he began, referring to her pet name (as Elizabeth was a mouthful) and then looking around, “We’re here to train. Is that okay with you?”
“Misdreavus!” he heard his companion chant, before he began walking around and leading the way, hoping that he’d run into something interesting…
It didn’t take too long before something actually did happen—he ran into something that was apparently playing at the edge of the water; wondering if it was something he could actually smack in the face, he then approached it stealthily, and then whispered, “Well, Beth, go use your Confuse Ray attack on it and catch it off its guard before it does something stupid like notice us,” while making sure not to be seen—unfortunately, at the sound of his approaching footsteps, the little duck looked up and then immediately let loose with a spray of water that was headed towards the levitating ghost!
“Misdreavus!” she chanted, before summoning a ray of creepy-looking light and shooting it towards the duck—before it had time to suddenly jump into the water and douse itself—what the heck was it doing?! The creepy ray of light then hit the little duck straight on in its face; and then it began acting all flustered for a while—before attempting to launch another attack headed towards the Ghost-type. “Nope, not this time,” he said, quickly shifting gears and then issuing another set of orders, “Beth, go take it out with your Power Gem attack, and be quick about it,” he added—seeing that the little bird was launching what appeared to be a deadly attack—yet at the last second it got confused and hit itself instead of the target!
“Misdreavus…” he heard her trail off, before quickly summoning a ray that was seemingly comprised of rock particles and shooting it towards the water fowl; which was still trying to make heads or tails of its surroundings. The rock-enhanced beam hit its target sooner or later—but unfortunately that made it snap out of its confused state, and then made headway once more, quickly summoning a torrent of rain! “Oh man!” Kouji shouted as the sky in the immediate vicinity turned dark; and a torrential shower of water started to pour. “He’s a feisty one!” he shouted again, quickly redirecting Beth to another spot; and then shouted over the roar of the pouring rain, “Try that one more time! Use Power Gem, now!”
“Misdreavus!” he heard his companion trill, before that same beam of concentrated rock particles was summoned—and at the same time it met another blast of water coming from the duck that was desperately fighting to stay out and away from any capture attempts. The two beams met somewhere in the middle; and with such force like that…
BOOM
A loud explosion rocked the area, which immediately sent up a shower of mud—and Kouji got splattered; hissing out of disgust—his favorite pair of sneakers were now ruined! “Ah great,” he said out of defeat, before waiting for the explosion’s debris to clear—and there was the little duck, all swirly-eyed, while his companion was still levitating—a bit muddy but none the worse for wear. Quickly shuffling around for the capturing device, and quickly pulled one of them out—and tossed it towards the fallen duck, watching as it enveloped the avian in a flash of light…
After watching the Pokeball rock from side to side, it finally stopped; and he then walked over to it ever-so-carefully (avoiding as much mud as he could because his sneakers were already coated in it) and then picked up the contraption that now held the water fowl. It was a good thing that he hadn’t brought his mobile phone along, because it would’ve been totally destroyed in the current conditions. “That and my sneakers are ruined… ah well, come on Beth, let’s go,” he signaled, looking over to the floating ghost and then watching as his companion came floating toward him; and they continued on their way—although there was a definite squelching noise added to his step now.
Ugh. Must clean the sneakers after I’m done here, he thought, hearing the distinct squishing noise coming from his feet; and Elizabeth looked over him, out of concern. “Misdreavus? Misdreavus…” she trilled, levitating much closer to him than she would normally do so—and then it happened. Kouji felt his vision blackening for a few moments; before it became a fuzzy sort of haze and showed him an image—an image of a girl who was seemingly shouting—or was it screaming?—and then the vision flickered before showing him the image of a young red-haired man; bloodied all over—and that same girl he’d seen a few moments ago was holding this red-haired boy close.
“Misdreavus?!” he heard his companion chime in, suddenly shaking him out of the vision he’d seen; approaching him and finally giving him a nudge. “Mis… misdreavus?” she inquired, wondering if he was okay, and he was shaking like hell. “I… I think I am, come on, let’s go,” he said in a shaky voice, becoming oblivious to the squooshing noise, but he was bothered. Who was that?! Why are these visions attacking me at the most random… he thought, before he saw his companion floating protectively in front of him—and there was another aquatic creature near his location. “Oh, seriously? The sushi fish?” he said out of surprise—he’d had a sampling of red, as well as blue, striped Basculin sushi quite recently and as much as he hated to admit it to himself, they were pretty damn good.
“Okay Beth… let’s go a different way this time. Use your Shadow Ball attack, now!” he said, ignoring the fact that he was soaking wet—and then the fish that they’d stumbled upon suddenly shot out a jet of water—and it smacked Misdreavus before the Shadow Ball could be even formed! “What the hell!?” he shouted once more, before trying again, “Okay, one more time! Shadow Ball, and then follow it up with Psybeam!” he added, watching as the little ghost levitated into position and then began firing off the ball of dark energy made from the shadows that lurked in the night—and then a stream of water being fired from the fish’s mouth rocketed forward; what was it with him and the aggressive types?! He then dived out of the way as Elizabeth then formed another beam of seemingly psychic energy and then shot it forward as well, before the little thing made a move in order to try and attack it—which completely missed!
“Well, Beth, let’s get out of here!” he shouted, seeing how dangerous this could go if the battle dragged on. I really want sushi but not now… and that vision… why is it bothering me so much?! He thought, shaking his head as both man and ‘mon made a hasty getaway…
As the two continued running across the area, they almost missed the next ‘mon that had decided to make an ungodly appearance—and quite sadly, Kouji could only sigh; because he already had this particular critter swimming around in his Ranch. Ah crap I forgot to feed them… he thought with a cringe as he saw that this was one of the many ‘mons that the fire-tempered young woman had sent over to him in exchange for letting him use her own ‘mons for breeding purposes. It then splashed around the surface of the water; and he could only stare at it out of shock—and pity. Why does he look so pathetic… he wondered to himself as he watched the ‘fish’ splash around in the puddle again.
“Beth? We’re not going to get anything done if we tussle with this thing. I say we leave it alone, and we move on… and besides, I want to get home and just get my sneakers cleaned out, walking in mud feels gross,” he added with a shudder; to which his Misdreavus chuckled—or did, some semblance of laughter—and then the two skirted the flopping ‘mon, and went on their way; hoping to encounter something else that would be worth their salt and time.
Thankfully, as they put a lot of distance between themselves and the familiar flopping ‘mon, another one decided to make its appearance—however, this one was something he hadn’t seen before. I guess its native to this region, but whatever, I know I can make use of this… he thought as he quickly got into position—and to his disgust, the little “tadpole” quickly let loose with another attack that made another torrential downpour cascade throughout the area! “Not again!” he managed to shout, before shaking a fist towards the heavens; why was his luck today considerably soaked?! He then sighed, before squinting in the downpour; only to see that the little tadpole was now shooting a much more powerful blast of water headed his way—and he looked at it as if caught in a spotlight; when suddenly a ball of shadow energy caught it and managed to repel it away from him!
“Beth! Gah, thanks for using that Shadow Ball to save me… now let’s end this… soaking show, use your Psybeam attack on it now!” he shouted over the roaring of the downpour; which only served to apparently strengthen the next blast of water that was heading their way! “Misdreavus!” he heard his ‘mon chime in, before summoning a physical manifestation of a psychic wave of energy that then shot towards the little unassuming tadpole—man was he wrong on a lot of accounts—but thankfully, the huge blast of water missed; and he breathed a sigh of relief. “Okay, follow that up with Shadow Ball once again, because I think that’s the only thing it can do!” he added, and watched as the little ghost summoned a ball of shadow energy, and shot it right after the Psybeam—the two attacks connected, and the beam of dark energy seemingly gained a strange, wavering property.
There was no more time for the little tadpole to dodge; as it got smacked with the apparent combination attack and then got pushed to one side—but not before it let loose with a horrible-sounding attack that made Kouji clamp his hands over his ears! “The hell was that!” he shouted, before quickly shifting away from the “line of fire” and then directing Elizabeth, “Go use your Confuse Ray, now, and then follow it up with Power Gem!” and watched as the next series of attacks emerged from the levitating figure—a sudden flash of light; followed up by the conjuration of a beam made up of rock-like particles. In retaliation, the little tadpole blasted another powerful torrent of water; and this time it hit the little ghost head-on—but not before receiving the flash of light that made it confused; and then got pelted away with the impact of the Power Gem attack.
The little tadpole then attempted to cause another horrible noise (which he assumed was another of its attacks) but it ended up backfiring on itself instead, and seeing that the tadpole was confused enough, he took out his only other remaining Pokeball, and chucked it towards the tadpole, which was now so dizzy, it didn’t realize that the flash of red light had absorbed it…
While the torrential rain was still pouring, he didn’t realize that the other receptacle he’d thrown had actually stopped shuddering, and despite the fact that it was “raining” like hell, he finally managed to walk over to where the Pokeball had fallen, and scooped it up right away. Ugh this is going to be so gross… he thought with a shake of his head as Beth levitated and ended up right beside him. “Well then, at least this ended on a…high, if somewhat drenched note,” he said with a chuckle, and looked over at his partner—who did not seem to mind the rain too much. “Misdreavus?” he heard her chant, before he took out her Pokeball and took her back inside with a flash of red light.
I seriously need a bath though… and my sneakers. Man this is going to take a while… he thought with a groan as he pulled himself out of the dripping wet area and returned to Undella’s town limits; and quickly hurried along, squelching mud and dripping wet in the process. It didn’t help that it was ‘winter’, and a cold wind picked up as he decided to break out in a mad dash towards the Undersea Tunnel, in order to get back to Humilau as quickly as possible!
