APPEARANCE
Having once been an agent of the interpol's ranks, Gwendolyn certainly looks like she's come out of it. She's an impressively tall woman, standing at six feet and two inches, and weighing in at one hundred and seventy-three pounds. She maintains a solidly toned build with a good amount of muscle, though she tries not to build it up to excessive points.
Gwen has bright blue eyes, and black hair that when not done up, hangs a few inches past her shoulders. Beyond that, her most notable feature is her frequent application of make-up. Though it's easy to pass her off as some sort of gothic 'diva' (assuming you don't know her all that well). It gives her face a pale complexion, and she also uses blue eye shadow.
Though partly personal preference, the make up has practical use for her, as underneath, covering the left side of her face is heavy scarring from a pokemon attack long ago. The scars also cover much of her left arm, all the way to the end, which is nothing more than a stub half way down her forearm where the remainder had been amputated. She uses a specially made prosthetic with hinged joints encased in a rubber skin made to appear realistic, and functions through the use of her telekinetic powers.
Beyond that, she has various other scars throughout her body, more minor ones from the aforementioned attack, among others from various other work-related incidents. She also has some pretty significant ones on her leg too. Her preferred attire tends to be geared towards making her heavy scarring less visible, and she almost always wears long sleeves. and pants, even throughout the summer. Jewellery wise, she doesn't wear much beyond a gem encrusted choker that was passed down to her from her grandmother.
PERSONALITY
- Independent
Gwendolyn has had, especially in her late childhood and through most of her teenage years, a persistent independence. Growing up with no parents, raised by her elderly grandmother who could only do so much, fostered a need for Gwen to take care of herself more than many children had to. Reaching the pinnacle of her adolescence, she'd develop a stubborn reluctance to accept help from others, not even her own pokemon. Since losing her hand to this stubbornness though, she has steadily more or less grown out of it, though she does still prefers working through things on her own. - Focused
Gwen was never the kind to be easily distracted from whatever task she has set upon. However long it takes, she tends to pour over whatever task until it is complete, or otherwise circumstances force her to set it aside for the time being. Being disturbed outside of emergency situations, tends to be one of her bigger pet peeves and she can get annoyed pretty quickly if she's interrupted frequently without good reason. - Levelheaded
Whatever the circumstance, Gwen has learned to control her emotions and maintain her composure even through trying situations. It's rare to see her lose her cool, and some might with a bit of exaggeration claim that she's a robot. She's far from emotionless though, and she can be angry, upset and annoyed at people, but she tends to express her emotions in a calm to near calm manner, and when it's practical. Her levelheadedness has been maintained through studious dedication to her daily meditation rituals. - Modest
Gwen is far from the arrogant type, and is very graceful and genuinely modest when it comes to recognition. She's not even particularly competitive, and her goals tend to aim more for her own personal satisfaction than anything else. Though people tend to think she should take more pride in her skills, recognition just isn't something that she cares all that much about. - Unselfish
Though Gwendolyn has her own desires and goals to consider, she also is very mindful about how others are affected by what she does, and isn't one try to take benefit at the expense of others. She especially cares about her grandmother, and has gone so far as to resign from the Interpol for her when being in it left her constantly fretting over the dangers it posed to Gwendolyn's life. - Blunt
While some might call it rude, she prefers to call it honesty. If someone asks for her opinion, she's not one to hold back and will say exactly what she thinks. She doesn't like it when people lie about their opinions on something, just to be 'nice', and she especially dislikes it when people ask her opinion for the sake of fishing for compliments.
Ambitions:
After stepping down from the ranks of the Interpol, Gwendolyn has instead changed paths to the much less intense route of pokemon breeding. Her ultimate goal is to breed a wide variety of pokemon that possess some kind of mystical power or quality, such as but not completely limited to ghost, psychic, dragon and fairy types.
HISTORY
Gwendolyn doesn't have much memory of her parents. She was four years old and staying with her grandmother when her parents died in a plane crash on the way home from their vacation in Hoenn. Something about one of the engines failing. All she remembers clearly, was that her father was an agent of the Interpol. Seeing her dad in full uniform was one of few memories she had retained through her life, cemented by a few photos that decorated her grandmothers home in Bayanadaville.
Since then, Gwendolyn was raised by her grandmother, an old fashioned lady who was very spiritual. Though she herself had no gifts, she was knowledgeable enough on the theory to help Gwendolyn learn to control her telekinetic powers through practice and meditation, and by the time Gwen was ten years old, she'd reach the point where her powers almost never spazzed out, and as she grew older she'd only keep getting closer to mastering her abilities.
Once she turned sixteen, she put herself forward to be recruited by the Interpol. At this point, she'd have her first pokemon, an Espurr. In the middle of her 'lone-wolf' phase though, Gwen was slow to utilize her in missions, preferring to rely on herself. One mission though, during an invasion of a team-owned warehouse that was being busted for pokemon abuse, Gwen was attacked by one of the victimized pokemon. The Absol, in a terrified craze, viciously mauled her, and she was lucky to survive the incident.
The ordeal left Gwendolyn with numerous scars across her face and arm. Her hand was so badly mangled that there was no other choice but to amputate. After that, Gwendolyn spent several weeks recovering. One of her friends among the Interpol techs made up a specially made prosthetic with hinged joints and a rubber skin that made it look as close to a real hand as possible, and could be controlled through her telekinesis. It took Gwen a great deal of practice at first, but a decade later, she can control it almost as well as she does her real hand.
During her recovery time though, Gwen did find herself thinking about the Absol that attacked her. She knew it wasn't the pokemon's fault. It was abused, acting on the crook's commands out of fear and desperation. She would find out that the Absol had been detained after being dragged off of her during the mission, and had been taken to a nearby pokemon rehabilitation center for abused pokemon.
Gwen wasn't sure what exactly drew her to it. The pokemon had cost her a hand and all, but part of her actually did feel sorry for the pokemon. So, she'd spend much of her recovery time coming to visit the Absol. At first it was as to be expected. Terrified fear driven. Over the months though, it would steadily come around. Gwen would help work with the Absol too, and she'd continue to even after she returned to work. Months would pass, and the Absol would steadily make more and more progress, and Gwen found herself getting pretty attached to the pokemon. After a couple years, Gwen volunteered to take the Absol home herself when it had been it was ready to find a new home, and she still has it, along with her Espurr to this day.
Though Gwen would return to active duty, her attitude had changed a great deal since her injury. She wasn't quite as stubborn, and was more willing to call upon her Espurr to aide in her duties. Still, though she had improved as an agent and after over a decade in the Interpol's service, it was still a dangerous job, and more recently, she'd end up sustaining a significant burn over her leg from a Charmeleon's flamethrower attack.
Though Gwen was a stubborn woman and unwilling to let such dangers deter her from her place in the Interpol, her grandmother was another story. The poor woman who had raised her from a small child was always left worrying for her granddaughter, her only remaining family after her son and his wife died all those years ago. After this latest injury, her grandmother pleaded with her to step down, saying that she couldn't handle having her only granddaughter being in such danger, and feared that she would outlive her as well.
Gwen was devastated by the idea, but she understood her grandmother's feelings and realized how selfish she was, to continue this line of work when she was all her grandmother had left. Gwendolyn would agree to give it up, and she handed in her badge. After that, she'd set her sights on something that was far less dangerous that she thought she would enjoy -- pokemon breeding. Buying a ranch near the outskirts of town, she was now on a new path, with new goals and hopes for the future.
OTHER INFORMATION
- Telekinesis
Psychic powers have been known to pop up on occasion throughout Gwen's family tree, and Gwen herself is but one example. She's exhibited telekinetic abilities since she was little more than a toddler. Though she had little to no control over them at that age, shes put much effort into practicing throughout her life. Now a days, she's got fine enough control to manipulate the digits on her prosthetic hand effectively, and can also levitate lightweight objects around her person.
As far as limitations go, she cannot move objects much further than a couple feet away from her position. Trying to lift anything more than five pounds puts a lot of strain on her, and ten pounds she would be lucky to nudge. When her powers are strained, it translates to physical exhaustion, and possible nose bleeding.
