He laughed a bit. "Well, I DO know this girl. Yumi's her name. She's got enough Pokemon to go to war with two armies of Pokemon. But she has this Charizard called Enzo, it's around... Well, around the size Fawkes is now. This is the only time I've heard of a Charizard being this size. But... Admittedly, I'm kind of excited seeing Fawkes like this" he said with a laugh. "I might teach him how to take on a rider, and make travel much easier" he added.
He watched as Doug sent out his Solrock and smirked. "A Solrock huh?" he said, cracking his neck. "Fire/fighting against rock/psychic... Guess I'm at a disadvantage" he said, scratching his beard. "Hmm... This is going to be tough" he thought to himself. "Going to have to think outside the box here... Otherwise, Vulcan's going to have issues" he mused to himself, scratching his chin.
"Vulcan, Quick Attack!" Josh called quickly. "Combusken!" Vulcan acknowledged before taking off at a run as his chicken-like legs carried him quite quickly, and he continuously picked up speed from the Quick Attack.... "Alright, Vulcan! If he manages to dodge that, stay close and hit him with Peck!" he immediately called mid-quick attack. Vulcan would attempt to slam himself into the Solrock, but whether it hit or missed, it didn't matter, he would attempt to repeatedly peck at the head of the Solrock.
Doug chuckled. "Fascinating." Doug said, nodding. "I will wish you good luck with trying the rider thing." Doug added on as well, laughing a little.
Doug grinned. "That's right. You know your stuff." Doug said in a silly voice. "Better prepare yourself. Ol' Sol has some tricks up his sleeves..." Doug said, smiling lightheartedly.
Doug noted as Josh quickly called out for a Quick Attack. "Try to dodge, Sol!" Doug called out, but Sol was struck by the intense speed of the Quick Attack before he could, sending him back a little in the air. "Damn it... He's going for a Peck! Float up to get out of the way!" Sol quickly got himself together and muttered out "Sol..." before floating up to avoid the barrage of pecks. "Alright! Now, show him the might of your mind! Use Psychic!" Doug called out towards Sol. Sol's expressionless eyes then began to glow blue as a sudden wave of psychic energy quickly went out towards Vulcan.

"Gah!" Josh let out as Vulcan was hit with the Psychic and sent back. No good. The damn thing was a Psychic type Pokemon, he had to remember. He had to be careful... He needed a plan...
But how could he stop something like this? He had to outmaneuver it, hit and run... And then deliver the most powerful of attacks that he could.
"Vulcan, jump. Jump high!" Josh called, pointing to the floating Solrock. "Combusken!" Vulcan let out as he used the incredible leaping ability known for in his species line to jump high into the air. "Bounce!" he called. No, not the move bounce, but Vulcan would respond by using his chicken-like legs to bounce off the head of Solrock and soar high through the air. "Turn back, Flamethrower directly!" Josh called. "Coooommm...BUUUUUUUUSKEEEEEEEEN!" Vulcan let out as he let loose a beakful of searing hot flames, that went straight for Solrock...
Doug smirked. "Nailed it, Sol!" Doug said in approval to the direct hit. He had the advantage here, but he still had to be on his toes as Josh could come up with anything to potentially ground Sol...
Sol had great maneuvering due to his levitating ability so Doug had to think of how to utilize it and Sol's variable arsenal of moves to outwit the Combusken. He had to utilize Sol's glaring advantages over Sol and try to remain slippery and unpredictable.
As Vulcan jumped in the air and bounced off Sol's head, the Solrock was sent back a little back aerially and quickly turned around towards the Combusken, who was quickly firing out a Flamethrower blast towards him. "Sol! Get out of the way and use Confusion!" Sol floated up over the blast and his eyes began to glow a pinkish color, sending out a different, specialized for mind scrambling Psychic wave towards Vulcan.

This time, Josh knew it was coming. It was a general tactic to stop mid-air attacks using Confusion. But he was ready.
"Break free, Vulcan!" Josh called out. Vulcan would struggle against the Confusion this time, and with his strength manage to power out before it could do any real damage. "Good! Now use Quick Attack and Peck!" he called. "COOOOOOOOM-BUSKEN!" he let out as he turned in the air and soared straight toward the Solrock, as if the Combusken were flying through the air, dive bombing it using Quick Attack as the speed of the move increased his velocity, allowing him to crash into the Solrock at high speeds, high velocity, and could potentially allow high damage. But due to type issues, Josh had given another plan...
Vulcan's beak would glow as he would try and slam the Solrock in mid-air, beak and body first to combine Quick Attack and Peck into one hard move.
Doug was trying to keep the Combusken confounded to leave it vulnerable to a strike, though it appeared Josh was expecting this...
Doug clapped a little at the willpower that Vulcan displayed at breaking off the Confusion before it could really do anything. "Impressive." Doug said. Doug looked up and saw the Combusken diving down towards Sol. "Ngh... Get out of the way, Sol!" Sol looked up at Combusken as the dive bombing Quick Attack slammed the rocky Solrock downwards towards the ground. To add more injury to that brutally nimble attack, the Combusken added the Peck into the Quick Attack. The force of the attack sent the Solrock down to the ground, crashing into the ground and raising up a bit of dirt and dust into the air. Doug winced "Damn... Are you okay, Sol?" Sol sensed Doug's slight distress as he slowly floated back up into the air, the move having dealt its damage. "Sol..." He replied, noting that he was still in relatively decent shape and still ready to go. Doug smiled a little, albeit slightly worried. "You have the power to do this, Sol. Remember what you are capable of." Doug said to boost the confidence of Sol. "Now, try to aim another Psychic towards that Combusken." Doug commanded. Sol gazed on at the Solrock and his eyes glowed blue again. He tried to focus the blast, though the dive bomb Quick Attack/Peck had weakened him a bit. He managed to shoot out another psychic wave towards Vulcan. Doug awaited to see if it would manage another hit or not...

"Vulcan, jump!" Josh would immediately call as Vulcan hit the ground. "Off the tree!" he added, watching as Vulcan's feet would plant on a strong tree branch before leaping into the air and above Solrock again. Good! Now spin!" Josh would call in response to the psychic energy. Vulcan was still in the air at this point, and would start spinning in mid-air, narrowly dodging the attack by the skin of his... Well, feathers? Do Combusken have feathers? How the fuck would I know?
"Quick, Flamethrower while you spin! Cloud yourself in a sea of flames!" Josh called. "Coooooom.... BUSSSSSSSKEEEEEEEEN!" Vulcan would let out as he seemed to somehow stop in mid-air as he started shooting Flamethrower while spinning around, the flames forming a barrier around Vulcan, a wall of fire, you could say. The question was.... What was Josh planning with this? He had to have a strategy somewhere here...
Doug clenched his fist a little. He had to try and think of something to counteract this. The chicken-like Pokemon had actually dodged the Psychic wave this time around, preventing any more heavy damage to it. Doug scratched his chin as he began thinking of a strategy.
Sol awaited Doug's instructions. Doug looked as the Combusken started using the Flamethrower while spinning, creating a sort of barrier around itself. This gave Doug an idea himself. He could counteract this offensive barrier with a barrier made for defense against fire... "Hm... Solrock! Use your Psychic in conjunction with Rock Slide to control the rocks to form a barrier in front of you!" Doug called out towards it. Sol's expressionless face seemed to agree with that idea. Sol began to glow blue and the ground began shaking a little. "Soool!" It let out as rocks shot out from the general ground area and continuously crashed together in front of Sol until they eventually formed a solid, somewhat thick, barrier of rocks in front of him. Due to the specified type differences, this should offer a decent defense towards the fiery spinning. Doug smiled with a bead of sweat falling down from his head, deeply hoping that this maneuver would work in his favor.

Doug's strategy would have been perfect in most cases, but in this case, there was one issue. Vulcan wasn't going to stop. "Now, Vulcan! Slam right into him!" Josh called, now incredibly pumped up. Vulcan would nod. "COOOOOOOMBUSSSSSSSSSKEEEEEEEEN!" he let out as he would envelop himself in the flames he had just spun before launching himself headfirst toward the Solrock at blinding speeds, the velocity being something Josh had never seen before from Vulcan. The Combusken laden head to toe in it's own flames would crash right into the rocks, crashing right through them-also taking damage in the process-before slamming right into Doug's Solrock at incredible velocity, taking the both of them to the ground at high speeds. They would both crash into the ground below them, leaving a big hole where they had landed with the arena being covered in smoke.
Once the smoke cleared, Josh walked over to check on the Pokemon. Seeing they were both alright, despite being relatively exhausted, Josh nodded over at Doug. "Vulcan, return" he said as he returned his Combusken to it's Pokeball. He nodded and stood back to let Doug recall his own Pokemon. "I see three pokeballs on your belt, Mr. Doug. Care to go for one final round?" he asked. "I've already chosen my third Pokemon"
Doug scratched his chin at the notion. The flaming chicken would not stop in its tracks. He figured the rocky shield that Sol had created using a combination of Psychic and Rock Slide would do the trick in protecting him more from the impact. While it would cushion the impact, it did not stop and the fiery Vulcan managed to break through the shield and slam into the rocky Sol. Doug gritted his teeth a little. "Damn it... Should have probably tried to get more rocks piled on..." Doug muttered to himself. He shielded his face a little as the area was immersed in smoke from the explosive impact the two Pokemon made into the ground.
Doug uncovered his eyes once the smoke cleared and he walked over to check the Pokemon as well. He was relieved to see Sol wasn't too damaged by the attack, albeit noticing the Solrock was a little exhausted by this point. The lowered damage of the Flamethrower corkscrew attack probably being a luck factor due to Rock types being more impervious to fire attacks. He got down on one knee and pat Sol a little. Sol then slowly floated back up. "You did good, my rocky little friend. Now, Sol, return." Doug said as he held out the Pokeball that housed Sol, which emitted a red trailing light that pulled the Rocky Psychic back into the ball. Doug then got up and looked back at Josh. He chuckled a little. "I've always figured these kinds of battles would last awhile. Sure. I'm game for one more round." He replied to Josh's proposition for a third and final round.

Josh chuckled a bit. Admittedly he was impressed by Doug after seeing him battle. He was obviously a rookie, but he had a gift for this. He would do well, Josh decided. He didn't just think that on the spot though, or guess... He knew. He knew Douglas would be successful in time. He just needed to practice, train, work hard... And believe in himself and in his Pokemon. Perfect sync would make him quite the battler indeed.
He smirked as he stood back and listened as Doug would accept his challenge. "Good, good" he said, cracking his neck. "Send out your Pokemon, let's see what you have then" he suggested. Josh would use the same choice no matter what, but he was curious as to what Doug would send out. And would it be as challenging as the last one? He could only wonder... And yet he looked forward to it.
Doug put the Pokeball back on his belt and scratched his head a little. This was a rather interesting scenario and he knew that Josh knew what he was doing when he came to battling. He knew he himself needed more experience in this, he was just a novice after all.
Doug looked at Josh and listened as he suggested for him to send out his Pokemon. Doug shrugged and stretched a little. He then reached for his belt and pulled out the third Pokeball that it had. As it expanded in size in his hand, he took a deep breath. "Alright... Here goes. Let's bring on the waterworks, Paul!" Doug shouted as he tossed out the Pokeball. It opened up and from a bright light landed a Poliwag on the ground, a small little water type Pokemon with a notable spiral design on his stomach, but he knew what it was time for. "Poli!" He called out. Doug caught the Pokeball and put it back on his belt. "Meet Paulie... Though I tend to just refer to him as Paul." Doug said in a silly manner.

Josh closed his eyes and chuckled a bit as Doug sent out his Poliwag. Perfect. This would be an interesting test indeed.
He opened his eyes and nodded at Doug. "Interesting choice, Douglas. This is going to be quite the battle. Let's see what you and your Poliwag are made of when you face me... And my partner"
He reached down to his belt for a Pokeball and pulled it out, letting it change to it's regular size. "Alright then, I choose you...." he trailed off as the Pokeball opened... But nothing came out! What in the world was going on?
"Lightning!" Josh immediately called as he finished his sentence, motioning toward the Pikachu with the blue bandana standing at his side. "Pika!" Lightning chirped as he took his place on the field, on all fours, his cheeks sparking as the adorable Pikachu took a serious tone as he readied for battle.
Josh chuckled and put the Pokeball away. "Lightning, use Quick Attack!" Josh instantly called without hesitation. "Pika!" Lightning let out as he would take off full speed, the power of Quick Attack making him even faster as he went to collide right into Poliwag.
Doug scratched his head a little at the chuckling. "Partner...?" He thought to himself. He watched as Josh tossed out a Pokeball and nothing came out. Just as he was expecting... The partner was none other than the Pikachu wearing its notable blue bandanna... Lightning... This unnerved Doug a little... An Electric type had an advantage over a Water type.... He was going to have to keep on his toes and think through every possible move he had if he was going to keep ol' Paulie from being fried by an electric move.
He noted that Josh was quick to start this match by calling out for the Pikachu to use a Quick Attack. This move wouldn't be too much trouble for Paul. "Counteract the move with Body Slam!" Doug called out towards the Poliwag. Paul nodded as he quickly charged over and then lunging himself towards Lightning, intending to collide with the electric mouse with full force. This maneuver would probably hurt them both or not at all. He had to wait and see...

The two moves would collide, sending both parties back. But Josh wouldn't wait long. "Lightning, Thunderbolt!" he quickly called out. "Pika..." Lightning warned as his cheeks sparked, charging up for the powerful attack. "CHHHUHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he let out, loosing a Thunderbolt, which generally has a 100 Accuracy stat, not looking good for Poliwag. Whether it hit or somehow missed though, Josh wouldn't hesitate.
"Lightning, use Quick Attack again!" Josh called. "Give it all you got!" he added. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he finished the Thunderbolt before immediately charging on all fours, full speed toward the Poliwag, going for another collision as the Quick Attack's effects would begin to speed him up even more, as per the usual mantra for the move.
"Attack, now!" Josh called and Lightning would leap right at the Poliwag, trying to collide at full velocity. He wasn't going to lose now! Not after having not battled in a Trainer Battle before!
