A pair of blue and white sneakers stepped along through the grass, the grass making a crackling sort of sound underneath the feet wearing said sneakers. These sneakers are worn by a young 16 year old man named Doug, sporting a blue and orange hooded jacket, a light blue collared shirt, blue jeans, and the aforementioned sneakers, who also lugs around a black and blue backpack on his back and his Pichu named Oron resting on his shoulder. He leaned against a tree and took a deep breath, feeling a little tired after another really long stretch of walking throughout the area, which ended up taking him into a forest. He left his humble home quite some time ago and he had just been traversing through the region in a quest to explore around a region and meet some new people potentially. Throughout some trees, he noticed some buildings in a clearing and figured it must be a town. He also noticed his backpack was feeling a little light, appearing that he needed some more supplies and this place has bound to have some stuff, right? He then slowly continued walking onward, stepping out from the forest of trees and glancing his icy eyes around the small area. He thought to himself, "Hm... It's a little town.... And I literally mean little. There doesn't seem to be too much here, but I might as well give it a shot at getting some stuff and looking around the place." then proceeding to nod a little. He stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jacket and continued walking, looking around with curiosity.

Littleroot. Josh hadn't been here for quite some time. Not since he had left it originally anyway. But with his mother having come home for a few days off from the ranch, Josh felt obligated to return to see her after so long. Along the way, he had met a young man named Red, who turned out to be the legendary and famous Indigo Champion that once stopped Team Rocket back in Kanto years ago. With Red out grabbing something in a break during his short stay with Josh's family, Josh had gone to grab some supplies from the little store in the funnily named Littleroot.
On the blonde's shoulder was a Pikachu, with a blue scarf hanging snugly on his neck. As Josh walked to where he might find the little store, the Pikachu would suddenly call out to something. "Pika!" he chirped in greeting. "Hm? What is it, Lightning?" Josh asked, before looking at the source of Lightning's interest. It was a Pichu, resting on the shoulder of a redhead who seemed to be a traveler as well, judging by the backpack. Josh laughed a bit and walked over, knowing Lightning would want to socialize with his own kind.
"Apologies" he said with an apologetic smile to the redhead. "My Pikachu gets a little excited around his own kind, even if they're complete strangers"
Doug was looking down and had kicked a rock aside before he noticed the tall blonde man approach him with his Pikachu chirping away excitedly. He looked up slightly at Josh, due to the man being a few inches taller than his 5'9 height, one of his hands slipping out from his jacket pocket and scratching his own curly haired head as the Pikachu's chirping began to awaken Oron. "Pi..?" The little guy squeaked quietly and curiously, his big eyes opening, then becoming more wide at the sight of Josh's Pikachu, looking at it and then sitting up and squeaking more loudly in an excited manner to see another electric mouse, "Pichu! Pichu!"
Doug chuckled a little and smiled politely. "Heh. It's quite okay, tall guy. It seems my Pichu here is a little happy to see your Pikachu there as well." He replied to the little conversation starter given by Josh, noting that familiar excited feeling between the two electric mice.

"Pika! Pika Pikachu!" Lightning chirped in reply excitedly to the Pichu. It seemed the Pikas were in a little conversation now, Josh observed with a small smile crossing his face. The blonde moved a bit of hair from the fair and bearded face (AHAHAHAHAHAHA).
He nodded a bit at the man's reply with a quaint and amused laugh. "He's always excited about the prospect of meeting his own kind" he explained. "He doesn't see them in Hoenn very often, so it's a rare treat for Lightning" he added.
"Still... I can see you're not a local" he observed, motioning to the backpack. "What brings you to Littleroot, traveler?" the Trainer asked with a small smile. He always liked to hear about the stories of other Trainers and their adventures. He LOOKED like a Trainer anyway. But the ginger snap could be a traveling Breeder, or a Professor, or even a criminal!
Doug brushed a few of his curly bangs aside and stretched a little with a small yawn. He too had noticed Oron and Lightning chirping and squeaking away at each other with excitement, "Pichu! Pichu!", which also made him smile lightheartedly. He thought to himself about the name of the town that was just revealed to him, "This place is called Littleroot, huh? I get it. It's small and there's a forest all over the place. The trees and their roots..." He chuckled quietly to himself briefly.
He composed himself at the notion of the question he was asked. "Well, you are correct... I am from a somewhat distant land and I have been traveling around for a few months now on a sort of journey I guess you can call it. I've been wanting to explore for a long time and even find some Pokemon. Over the course of my journey I've been looking to find a region to start in and after prepping up more, I might even tackle some of those Gyms I've heard about from some people. I've actually caught one Pokemon so far through my travel. Sunrock... Solrock. Yeah. That's it. I call em Sol for short. Quite a comforting fella. It's as if he can read my mind in some way sometimes. Anyhow, after some more traveling, I've noticed my stuff was running a bit short and I happened to see this town from behind a few trees so I figured I'd step in and have a look around." He explained to Josh.

Josh chuckled as he listened in on the excited "Pika! Pikachu!" and "Pichu! Pichu!" from the two electric mice, despite the fact he couldn't understand a damn thing either of them were saying. Regardless, it was nice to see Lightning had made a friend. Lightning had been happier lately since reuniting with Ritchie, Maxine's Pikachu, but it was nice to bring the Pikachu's joy even higher.
"Aye, it's actually meant to represent the beginning Trainers that live here" he explained. "You see, that's just it. We all start as little roots, right? Like trees start as little roots. But then they grow into big trees, just like when these trainers leave here and go out on their journeys, they evolve and grow into better and bigger Trainers themselves" he explained.
He chuckled at his explanation. "Aye, I'm a traveling Trainer myself" he responded. "I used to live in a region far off, but we ended up moving here to Littleroot Town, and I got to go on a Pokemon journey with Lightning here" he said, motioning to his Pikachu. "Pika!" Lightning greeted with a wave. "We've been together since I started a journey back where I used to live, but I'd rather not get into that. But he's been with me since he was a baby and hasn't left my side since" he said with a laugh.
"My name's Josh" he introduced. "And if you're looking for the store, it's just behind you" he said, laughing a bit as he pointed behind Doug. "I know the town's small, but you'll find provisions here" he promised. "Maybe after this, we could battle? I'm waiting for a friend to return so I can get back to traveling since we were going to travel as a team for awhile, but he hasn't come back yet so I'm just sort of killing time" he offered.
Doug cracked his fingers a little, listening to the mice squeaking away at each other some more. He too had no freaking clue what they were saying, but they both sounded happy and friendly already. Oron didn't have very many other Pokemon friends as of now besides Sol, though he was always kept happy by Doug usually.
"Oh. I must have muttered my thoughts out loud it seems. I do that sometimes... Your explanation does make sense actually." He listened curiously.
Doug nodded some more after Josh's own explanation. "My parents gave me this little guy as a going away present for the start of my little journey. I named him Oron because he's very joyful and lighthearted. He makes me feel happy and he usually can be entertaining and noticing at times as well." Oron smiled that little smile of his fellow electric mice Pokemon line. "Pi!" He squeaked and he waved back at Lightning with his own little small arm. "He's pretty young himself at the moment, but he's certainly full of life." Doug explained, then proceeding to chuckle a little himself, patting Oron's head gently, the little guy's ear twitching a little.
With the introductions underway, Doug proceeded to introduce himself as well. "Aye. They call me Doug... Because that's pretty much my name." Doug said, smiling. He nodded when Josh pointed out the directions of the store to him, then he got more curious at the notion of a battle between the two. "A battle, huh? I suppose it could help me get some more experience with the whole system of battling. I'm in no rush after all." Doug agreed with the suggestion of a battle. "I suppose we'll be heading the same way once your friend gets back as well. That'll be fun." He added on, grinning a little.

He laughed a bit. "Sorry it was a bit of a mouthful, but that's the rumor about Littleroot. Always happy to do some educating, despite only having been here about a year myself" he admitted, chuckling. He listened as the man talked about his Pichu and smirked. "He seems like he's full of life" he commented as he looked at the Pichu. "Pika!" Lightning chirped happily.
"Nice to meet you Doug" he said in response to his introduction. He grinned at his response to the notion of a battle. "Sounds like a plan" he answered. "I don't have as much experience in trainer against trainer battling as I would like, so the more practice and experience I can get, the better" he said.
"Aye, probably. I don't know when the guy's gonna be back, but maybe I'll introduce you sometime" he said, taking care not to say Red's name aloud. He didn't want the guy getting hounded if word gets around, after all. "I'll meet you just outside of town when you're done at the store, and we'll begin, sounds good?" he offered.
Doug was smiling, enjoying the conversation with this new friend of sorts. "Understandable. I can say that yes, he is full of life without a doubt." Doug said proudly, nodding towards Josh with another small chuckle. "Pi!" Oron squeaked back at Lightning joyfully.
"Oh yeah, nice to meet you too." Doug stumbled out another response to the introduction politely, then chuckling a little. Then towards the response of Josh about the battle, "Aye... Same here. Any battles I've done with Pokemon have been rather scarce and I've yet to really do a fight with another trainer." he had replied back. His journey never really came with too many meetings, whether it be Pokemon or another human, so he enjoyed it when he got to have a meeting as that was part of why he wanted to begin his exploratory journey to begin with.
"That would be neat to meet your other friend of sorts whenever he's around." Doug said with a small chuckle, being oblivious of that legendary name as to who Josh was referring to. Doug then nodded in agreement with the time. "It does indeed sound good. It shouldn't take me too long to get through with resupplying myself and my Pokemon." He replied as part of the agreement.

It was a surprise to meet a new friend in Littleroot of all places, even more to meet two within so little time between one and the other. Regardless, the blonde was relatively enjoying the conversation. He smirked a bit. "I wonder how he'll do in battle" he mused, chuckling. "I assume you guys have been together awhile"
"Well, looks like I'll be your first then. No big, my experience in that field is low, so I guess we're both beginners that way" he said with a shrug. "Alright, how about this. I'll head out to the route after I drop by at home. I was just grabbing some supplies, and ran into you just after leaving" he explained with a chuckle. "I'll go drop everything off then head outside of town. I'll meet you out there, and we'll battle then" he said. "Get ready, I won't hold back" he said, chuckling.
He nodded in farewell then headed out to the route to wait for Doug. "Pika Pika!" Lightning chirped, waving goodbye for now.
It was a little surprising for Doug himself considering most of his conversations weren't exactly very long with some other people he ran by on his travels. It was kind of fun to be having a legitimate conversation with someone who could even be of help to him actually. "Yeah. Oron has been with me from the start of my little journey of sorts." Doug replied, chuckling a little.
"I suppose so." Doug said, nodding to what Josh was saying about the battle and where they were going to go to do said battle. "Sounds good. I'm pretty sure I won't be holding back either." Doug replied, chuckling more himself.
Doug and Oron waved back at Josh a little for their brief farewell. "Pichu!" Oron chirped back. Doug then proceeded to head on into the store to grab his supplies he and his Pokemon were in need of. He was still a little surprised at the whole meeting with and kindness expressed by Josh. This was going to be quite an interesting journey from here on out, he figured to himself.

Doug would later find the blonde outside of town, sitting in a tree casually eating one half of an apple while Lightning chomped on the other. It was a funny sight, seeing a grown man and a Pikachu sitting in a tree eating apples, but some would consider it adorable too. But, the business was serious.
Josh would quickly notice the redhead and his Pichu, and nod down at him. "Ah, you made it" he said. "Pikachu!" Lightning greeted with a wave. "Alright. Since you have two Pokemon, we'll do a two on two battle... With the rules being a... LITTLE bit different" he said.
"Since this is a for fun, practice sort of thing, we'll go until we feel they've had enough. Then we switch to the next Pokemon. Just have fun, no need to get overcompetitive" he said.
Doug's backpack was a little more hefty with the newly acquired supplies. He took it off and dropped it gently by a tree, stretching out his arms a little more to get adjusted for what was about to occur. He then stepped away from the tree a little.
Doug then looked up at Josh and waved back. "Indeed I did." Doug said. "Pichu!" Oron greeted back with another wave. "Two on two, huh? Sounds interesting enough." Doug said back.
After listening to the "rules" of sorts that Josh was listing, he nodded. "Sounds like a fair deal. It isn't anything too serious after all so there wouldn't be much of a need to get competitive. For fun and for practice." Doug replied. This was a little exciting, a battle with a trainer! Sure, it wasn't a big battle or anything, but it still gave off a sort of sense of excitement in the air.
Doug pat Oron's head. "Come on, buddy. Let's do this." Doug said to his faithful partner of sorts. "Pichu!" Oron squeaked as he hopped off of Doug's shoulder and stood up on the ground a few feet in front of him. Oron may not be very large or menacing, but the little guy had a certain energy and power to him.

Josh smirked a bit. He had a feeling that Pichu would be coming out first. He got to his feet and leaped down, Lightning leaping with him as the two landed on the grass at the same time, the two obviously in sync.
"Pichu, huh? Alright, this'll be interesting" he said with a small smile. "Alright then..." He began as he took a Pokeball from his belt, pressing the button that made it grow to full size. "Go, Fawkes!" He called as he tossed the Pokeball. Out came a Charmeleon, who looked pumped and ready for battle. "Char, Char!" Fawkes let out as the Pokeball flew back into his hand. He smirked and without hesitation pointed at the Pichu. "Fawkes, use Scary Face, and once it's slowed down get up close and personal with your Fire Fang!" He called.
Fawkes would nod. Focusing his energy, a giant purple face of pure malice would suddenly appear in front of Fawkes, meaning to scare Ritchie and lower his speed. Afterword, Fawkes wouldn't miss a heartbeat as his fangs glowed red, almost fire-like as he charged at the Pichu, before attempting to slam the fangs into him.
Pichu squeaked excitedly, always finding a little excitement out of battles, being familiar with what is to be done.
"You know it. This little guy has a lot of strength despite how he may look." Doug said, smiling back. He then watched as Josh tossed out the Pokeball, which released the Charmeleon who appeared to be named Fawkes. An odd name Doug thought it was. "A Charmeleon I see... The form that comes after Charmander." Doug said, nodding. "Stay steady and ready for anything, Oron... We'll attack when the time is right." Doug said towards the Pichu, who nodded and braced itself.
The crazed, purple face of malice would terrify the little guy a little. Oron felt heavier as his speed was lowered from the attack. "He is about to attack you! Dash out of the way!" Doug said towards Oron quickly, wanting to ensure he can keep up the pace. Oron shook a little on his little feet, but he managed to stumble out of the way of Fawkes's fangs, still being a bit nimble despite the setback on speed. "Nice one! Now attack him with Thunder Shock!" The red spots on Oron's cheeks began to emit sparks. "Piiiichuuuuuuu!" He shouted out, then he was surrounded by an aura of electricity as a stream of lightning shot out from Oron towards Fawkes.
