Her flight over to Hoenn didn’t go as planned to drop her off near Littleroot Town, there was a problem with the jet turbulence so she was given an option to go over on the sea to dock in at one of the cities there, which she took with no hesitation. Of course that was the last of her money was then used for her fare onto the ship to her new destination.
The ride to Hoenn was an estimated couple hours away from Unova and most of the passengers were preoccupied with the breath taking view of the ocean below them, a number of them had Pokemon with them on the edge when they were sightseeing. Maxine stood among them with her Pikachu on her shoulder, giving him a small smile.
“You excited as I am, Ritchie? We’re finally able to go backon our journey.” She spoke to him before he responded in an elated tone, “Pika!”His head nudged against her cheek and had her giggle, sniffling afterwards once his scruff of fur tickled her nose, setting off on their way to a new region.
Once the ship docked hours after it took off her head lifted up from her research and her Pikachu’s ears lifted up he cried out from the view ahead of him, “Pika pi!” Maxine’s gaze fell against the city in front of them and chuckled, “This almost looks like home with a city like this.” She responded, packing up her stuff and placing Ritchie over her shoulder, stepping off the ship onto the dock.
“Ah, doesn’t seem to be busy right now for a city, maybe wegot lucky.” Ritchie nodded his head in agreement with his Trainer; the Pikachu started peering his eyes ahead of them when he saw a dark navy blue catch his eyes, it was on another Pikachu with his trainer.. He squinted once again to align who the Pokemon and Trainer were, having him call out once again, “Pika pi!! Pika!
She turned her head at his sudden outburst and gave him abaffled look, “What? What’s got you so eager?” Her Pikachu moved his small arm up, pointing out ahead of her resulting in her pushing his arm down before anyone noticed and once she saw what Ritchie was happy about she couldn’t help but join him, that bandana wasn’t hard to recognize after all these years.
“Hey! It’s Josh and Lightning!” Maxine said to her Pokemon, picking up on her feet to a dash across to meet the blonde male, how long has it been since she’s seen him? “Josh, hey over here! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you.” Was this even real rightnow? He must be traveling still, she thought, “I didn’t expect to see you in this region."

Slateport City. It'd been quite some time since Josh had been here again. The blonde breathed in the seaside air with a small smile, happy to be back again. The nostalgic feeling simmered through his veins like a peaceful, calming wind, that also reeked of the excitement that filled his being, in wonder of what he would encounter on this day. It'd been nice, yknow, to breathed in that seaside air, to look at the Pikachu on his shoulder, with the scarf on his neck, it's brazen shining blue showing as it blew in the wind like the Pikachu's ears, could breathe this in without a risk to his health, a risk to Josh losing his partner, his best friend.
He looked back at everything that had happened prior to him coming here. His past, in his old home... The people he had met and traveled with, the Pokemon he had caught... The people he had seen die, the ones he'd been separated from, and lost... He frowned, not really wishing to remember it. But it hung in his mind like a snake that just wouldn't go away until it got it's dinner.
He saw a boat come in. He yawned, these were usual in Slateport... But he hadn't expected to hear a familiar voice.
"Josh, hey over here!" Someone had called out to him. No, it couldn't be... He recognized that voice....
"Maxine?" he let out. "Pi-Pi-Pi!" Lightning let out excitedly as they watched the girl with the Pikachu on her shoulder walk over, a big grin crossing Josh's face. This couldn't be real... Could it?
"Hey there!" he chirped happily as she came over. "It's been a long time, I agree" he responded, laughing a bit. "I've been living here for quite some time, actually. Since I moved away from.... Yknow...." he said, trailing off as he scratched his head.
Unbelievable, it was her old traveling partner! She felt a huge smile grow on her face when she stopped in front of him, laughing along with him after their agreement. Once he had mentioned about when he moved away from the region they both lived in she stopped him short and nodded her head, "Aye, no need to talk about it if you don't want to.." She licked her lips a little and took her gaze off to the side, of course she moved for the same reason and it wasn't easy for her to explain the situation.
"Oh, you live here now? That's great to hear you found a place to settle down." Maxine continued on, sliding her right leg back to have her brace rub back against her left leg, her hand grabbing onto her arm. "I.. I'm letting the wind take me to where I want to live, Unova is pretty nice, but I think I could end up being in a new region after my journey."
Ritchie tilted his head at the blonde's Pikachu and smiled towards, "Pika!" He called out, seeming to catch up with his old friend like his Trainer was doing. "Pika pi.. Pi pi!" He explained, having Maxine ruffle his head softly, resulting in Ritchie cooing lightly.
"I'm glad you're still wearing that bandana, it was easy to recognize you with it on after traveling with you for a while. You look more grown up you know, like you've matured a bit." She complimented, grasping her palm on the back of her hand. "Lightning hasn't changed one bit, Ritchie must be glad about that, huh?"

He couldn't believe it. He remembered Maxine, they had traveled for quite some time way back when. He had wondered what had became of her after they had gotten separated, but he was thrilled to see her again. It had been a shame to see her go when her family had convinced her to move out of the region to Unova, although Josh wasn't there much longer after that. He just hadn't expected to ever see her again! But regardless, he was elated.
"Aye, it's something I've tried to move on from" he admitted, taking a breath. He didn't really like to be reminded... But it was nice to meet an old friend again.
"Hmm.. Interesting" he mused to her story, scratching his beard. "And what brings you to Hoenn?" he cared to ask. Last he had heard, she had wanted to travel and one day become a Pokemon Professor. What was she doing here, in Hoenn?
Meanwhile, Lightning was elated to see his old friend Ritchie again. "Pika!" he exclaimed excitedly at the other Pikachu. Josh chuckled a bit and patted his head as well
"Pika Pika Pi!" Lightning chirped happily to Maxine's compliments. Josh chuckled a bit. "Yeah... Both of them were just Pichu when we left, aye? Now they're both Pikachu, and yet they haven't changed a bit" he said, smirking. "Ritchie sure seems glad. And I'm sure Lightning is too"
"I apologize to remind you of it." She answered in a soft tone compared to his breathing, reaching out to pat his back with her gloved palm, it wasn't easy to get that reminded back all at once. But Maxine just gave him a small chuckle and answered in a elated cheer, "I'm taking another opportunity to travel as a Trainer again. I got a chance after my mom allowed me to travel.." She trailed off and rubbed the back of her neck, shrugging her shoulders afterwards.
Hey, that's right, they both were Pichu's when they traveled before, but either way she could tell it was his Pokemon, giggling at their conversation that only the could understand. "Well, glad to see they're getting along like how they were before. Ritchie was the one who wanted to start off as soon as he heard I was able to go." Chuckling once again her hand slid her ends back away from her face.
"Can you tell me about this city, please? I'm happy to hear anything about it!" She exclaimed, smiling up at the male.

He smiled a bit at her apology and the back patting. "It's fine, I promise" he assured. "I just prefer not to think about it, yknow? It was.... Rather gruesome" he admitted with a sigh. "We've both started new lives now, by the looks of it. Let's look toward the future" he suggested.
"Hmm... Did she now?" he asked curiously at her next statement. He remembered her talking about her siblings and her dad being a bunch of pricks, and her mom didn't approve of her risking herself. Regardless, their stories were oddly similar. "So did mine" he said with a laugh. "I've been traveling for quite some time now. It's nice to be able to go out and do this without as much risk. I can actually enjoy myself now, and have fun while I'm at it" he explained.
The two Pikachu were obviously happily in conversation, and Josh laughed a bit as he looked over at them. "Oh, Lightning was excited to see the world, though a bit nervous at first after our first little issues with those... Things" he said, scratching his head. "But he got over it and he doesn't wanna ever be out of his Pokeball now. On and off, anyway. He's fine with being in his ball usually, but there are times he lets himself out and I just deal with it, let him stay on my shoulder while I travel so he can see the sights"
"Hm?" he mused as she asked about the city. "Not much to talk about, really. Port city. There's a contest hall around here, it's basically the Go-To place for Pokemon Coordinators. Otherwise, just a lot of water" he said with a laugh. "So what brings you all the way to Hoenn when you could have just traveled in Unova?" he asked curiously.
It was better that they didn't focus on the past and sit around mooping about it, she confirmed his question and spoke up, "Mhmm, she finally gave me permission to back on my journey. It's good to hear you've been doing well, I just can't believe i ran into you, it's unbelievable. I almost want to hug you right now and pinch myself in case."
Normally Ritchie stayed in his Pokeball, but she let him out since it would kill some of the energy he had from their journey and Maxine promised he could stay out for the day. "I remember when he was a Pichu he would always climb onto your shoulder at times, glad to see he made it a small habit."
Her head tilted to her shoulder and nodded her head, seeing as it wasn't much to do in this big city, she wasn't too keen about Contests so that one was crossed off the list. "Ah, well." She began to answer her friends question, sliding her feet together and itching her face. "I already know a lot about Unova so I wanted to get a fresh start and visit another region. Hoenn gave me an offer to travel and I took it." She explained to Josh, Ritchie sniffing around a little and nodded his head at the blonde, "Pika."
"Hey, you still have the same dream, aiming to be the best trainer, right?" Maxine enjoyed hearing about his dream, his passion was always fired up towards his dreams and had such enthusiasm about going forward with his dream. "I want to hear what you've accomplished so far, in really eager to hear what you'll say."

He chuckled a bit at her response. "That's great!" he chirped, grinning. "I'm glad to see you're finally getting to live your dream. Obviously, I am too, but I gotta admit I'm just happy to see you're alive" he said. "Last I heard, the route you were taking on your way home was infested with those.... Things. Heard they killed a couple travelers and I assumed you were one of them. Kind of hit me hard" he admitted.
He smirked. "Hey, if you wanna hug me, go the hell ahead. I'm happy enough to see you alive that I'd love a hug" he cracked.
"Aye" he said in response to her mentioning Lightning. "He never stopped and I don't mind it. At least, not until he gets bigger and becomes a Raichu, if he ever does" he joked with a laugh.
He nodded a bit at her explanation and questions. "Hahaha, well, I'm glad to see you here. I'd be happy to stick around awhile if you wanna travel a little bit with me again" he offered with a small smile. "Could use the company. And yeah, I'm still hoping to be a great Trainer. Haven't... Accomplished much since I got here though" he admitted, sighing. "Still working on my team..."
That route.. It wasn't easy to talk about still after she had to leave and trying to avoid those things he mentioned, he didn't have to finish saying it to get what he meant. "Aye, it.. It wasn't easy, you were lucky if you survived from them. I just pushed through it and made it out alive." Maxine explained to the blonde, her arms now nothing back to her sides. "I apologize for that rumor, didn't mean to cause any stress." That was the last thing he needed.. Maybe she should have let him know that she came back alive.
Since he had no objections to the hug she cordially stepped up closer to him and slowly slid her arms around his neck, sneaking up a bit on her toes for a height adjustment. She noticed he was much warmer than her and gave him a small squeeze, but held on for a few moments longer after feeling his heartbeat, "Heh, you're really nice and warm." She chuckled out, letting him go and sliding her arms off of him. "If you can still hold him on your shoulder after he evolves then you have some amazing shoulder strength." She complimented before looking over to Ritchie, who had just climbed back onto her shoulder before his trainer was giving Josh a hug. "I wonder if Ritchie will keep the scruff of hair when he evolves into Raichu. It doesn't fit with him not having one, makes him unique to most other Pikachu's right now. Same thing when he was a Pichu"
This couldn't get better.. She could go back and travel with her old friend, since he helped her quite often about Pokemon and battles she figured she can show him how much it's paid off and what she's learned while she was back home doing field research in Unova. "Of course I will!" She chirped out to his suggestion, a grin soon followed on her lips. It was still unbelievable, of course her hand slid onto her arm to pinch herself for a moment, yep still awake. "Hey, there's nothing wrong with that, I'm still working on my team and I haven't caught a lot for my team." She encouraged her friend, his sigh was piercing to her ears and felt herself smile up lightly towards him, "It'll take some time and hard work, I'm willing to be here and help you out the best I can and maybe learn some more from you." Her hand patted his free shoulder and giggled, she hated how much he was hard on himself and act stubborn, well she couldn't talk much with the stubborn part.
"I want to show you my team actually!" Maxine said suddenly, giving them a subject change. "Last time we met I only had Tepig and Pichu when we traveled, I want to show you the others I caught and show me your team, we can compare!" Her hands balled into fists and threw her arms up to the upper half of her body, Ritchie came in mimicking his trainer and called out in excitement as well, putting his small arms up and curling his hands, "Pika pi! Pika pika!"

He nodded a bit. "I'm just glad you're alive" he said with a sigh. "I was worried. Really worried. I know I don't look it, but you gave me quite the scare when I saw you alive" he said with a laugh. "I was overjoyed, even if I don't show as much emotion as I used to".
He smiled and hugged her tight as she embraced him, holding her close, as it really sunk in that his old traveling partner was alive and well, in his arms again. It was a sweet, sweet feeling, knowing she was here, with him, and she'd never be gone forever again. All was right with the world again, at least for that moment. He chuckled a bit at the warm comment, shooting her a smirk. At her comment about Lightning, he laughed a bit. "I assume he'll probably give up my shoulder if he ever evolves. I'd probably die if Lightning tried to cling to me as a Raichu, as strong as I am"
He grinned wide at her acceptance to the offer. They were going to get to travel again! At least for awhile. It was still hard to believe, but it was here, now, today, it was really happening.
"Hm?" he said as she mentioned her team, and smiled. "I have quite a few Pokemon myself, actually" he said. "But I have six with me. I'd be happy to show you. Maybe after, we can have a little practice battle. Nothing too competitive, just a good warm up"
"I'm sorry that I caused you to get so worried, I should've called you or relayed a message that I got home safely." She flowed out in a small tone, the corner of her lips falling slightly when he pulled her into the embrace and blinked up from how tight it was. That was the last thing he needed on him during his journey back then, her face lifted up from the laugh he let out and joined him with a giggle, it was good to see that he was beginning to show more of his emotions compared to the stiff face he had those years ago, of course she had her own too from her family problems, but did her best to show much emotion as she could.
Seeing a Raichu on the blonde's muscular shoulder would be one sight to see for herself, Raichu's were the an estimated weight of a child so that would equal quite a bit of force on his shoulder so it result in a torn shoulder, "It's a definite injury if you're up for it. But that's something that you don't need on you right now." Maxine announced in concern, taking a small breath to relieve the tingling feeling in her gut from going on, maybe it was just her nerves talking in her from how happy she was going back to travel with him to show she's improved somewhat.
He was agreeing to it! This had her begin to shuffle her feet under her weight and giggled with suggestion, it was just what she needed to hear again, he hasn't changed at all. "Of course, you know Ritchie evolved into a Pikachu." She motioned her gloved hand to the Pokemon on her shoulder, which he spoke out on cue after hearing his name. "Ember is still a Tepig after this time, but he'll get stronger." Her hand reached out to grab a Pokeball and continued, "I.. saved a Wynaut on my way back home on that route, there was a swarm of Pokemon and his trainer just tossed him without a second thought. His trainer went mad.. I caught him once the swarm calmed down. He's pretty humorous and free spirited, come on out Sea Biscuit!" She called out, throwing the Pokeball in the air and jumping out was a small Wynaut, "Wynaut!" The Pokemon called out, smiling up to the blonde, "Wynaut Wynaut!"

He shrugged a bit. "Well, it doesn't matter now" he said, happy to get off the subject as soon as possible. "You're here. I'm here. No more scourge. No more rabid Pokemon that'll kill us and our Pokemon. Done. Over. Finito. Finished" he said, taking a breath. He smiled a bit at her quip about Lightning evolving into a Raichu. "Bah, Lightning would never live it down if he tried to ride on my shoulder as a Raichu. He'd injure me and be scared to death to try again" he quipped.
"Of course" he said, chuckling as he looked at the Pikachu. "He seems to have evolved quite healthily, just like Lightning. Happy to see he's still with you. She then mentioned a Wynaut, and those.... Things. And those rabid Trainers that would toss their Pokemon to the swarms just to hold an alliance with them. It was pathetic, he thought, and he hated them with a passion. He was happy to see that Maxine had managed to save a Wynaut on her way home. No Pokemon deserved that fate.
"Sea Biscuit, huh?" he said. "Nice name. Good to meet you, Sea Biscuit" he said with a smirk. "I have a Wynaut myself back at the ranch, actually. I'll introduce you sometime. But since I know you wanna meet someone... Remember this guy?" he asked, pulling out a Pokeball. "Come out, Vulcan!" he called as he tossed it, bringing out a Combusken. As he caught the ball, he smiled a bit. "You remember this guy? He was my first Pokemon back in Kotaku, he was a Torchic when you knew him though" he said. "Combusken!" Vulcan chirped in greeting. "Ace and Cooper, my Pidgeotto and Furfrou are back at the ranch. Needed a break" he said.
Looks like he approved of the nickname for the Pokemon she rescued, having a grin grow on her face when he started talking to him, normally Sea Biscuit was friendly and humorous when he meets people and Pokemon, at times she hoped that he would keep that attitude and appreciate that he has a new trainer instead of the one who threw him like nothing. "Wynaut!" He replied to the male, using his ear like arms to salute him almost. "Wynaut!"
"Hm? Oh, Torchic!" Maxine recalled the Torchic he was given to start his journey back when they met, or rather when he had saved her from those scourge attacks in their home region. Hopefully he would remember her from so long ago, and seeing that Vulcan evolved too had her become so excited, he's gotten his team to grow while she was away.. "It's great that your team's grown too along with you! I'm so proud to see how much you've grown." Her grin was growing once again and looked back up to her friend, something coming to her mind had her clasp her hands together. "Oh! Josh, let me give you my number, I had yours saved, but I tried calling before, but hung up cause I was nervous.."
She wasn't easy on herself about her being anxious to rely a message to her old friend and with that swarm going around with those trainers killed through there.. she was lucky to be alive, but she wasn't the same person after it, unlike Josh though she's maintained a positive outlook on everything now and going onward with it. At times it wasn't easy, but she wouldn't let it get to her like that. "Ah, when can we go and see them? Oh yeah I'll show you the rest of my team too, just before we go anywhere I'll give you my number." Maxine repeated herself again, pulling out her phone from her lab coat pocket.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Aug 28, 2014 15:47:37 GMT -5
He laughed a bit at the salute. "Well, he certainly seems friendly" he said in terms of the Wynaut. "I'm glad that he's as so. Obviously you've taken good care of him since he's friendly to others despite how his old Trainer must have treated him" he added. He smiled as she quickly recognized the Torchic that had since evolved into Combusken. "Aye" he said with a grin. "I've grown, my Pokemon have grown with me, and obviously you've grown as well" he said, chuckling a bit.
Then she offered him her number and he smirked. "Nervous?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Young lady, you gave me quite the fright for a year because you were nervous? You could have just called me and I would have been fine" he scolded, shaking his head. "But whatever, it's done, over with now. At least you're alright, I suppose that's what matters"
He nodded and took out his phone in order to record her number. "We can go to the ranch now, if you like. I have quite a few Pokemon on me now"
It wasn't difficult for her Wynaut to trust humans again actually, Sea Biscuit was a really bold Pokemon and was blunt at times around some trainers, but nontheless a valiant Pokemon from his previous experience. "All I did was carry him with me through my day and gave him as much human contact as I could throughout the day. At times he would end up just hiding away from people, but now he wants all eyes on him and make himself present whenever he can.
The scolding he was giving her had her cheeks begin to flush a deep crimson and changed her focus to her shoes to avoid eye contact with him, yes it was a stupid reason she had and it didn't make sense whenever she looks back on it, her fingers slid together and looked up at the male after he shook his head, of course once more her arms wrapped around his neck to show her sympathy towards him, she couldn't continue to apologize for her actions.
"Oh, sure, I would love to see the rest of your Pokemon, lead the way. But first." Her hand grasped onto his phone and slid open to add her number onto his contacts, save them from reading their numbers a loud in a crowd of people, she placed her phone into his palm and nodded her head, "You can add yours in mine, then we can head out." Maxine explained to her friend, grinning up to him.
