She wasn't sure if this one would ever be lit. The cigarette's tip rolled about in her mouth as she shifted it from the left side of her mouth to the right, taking pause. She looked over the blonde before her. Dragomir, he said his name was. Something about that seemed familiar. She stared him down another moment before speaking up. "You should go seek out one of the gyms. Go challenge one, and learn from it. Win or lose, it'll teach you a lot about yourself and your Pokemon."
Ferris turned away, looking out at the empty stadium. "Don't get caught up in wins or loses. They don't matter. What matters is how you grow and how you achieve your goals. Hammer yourself against every challenge you find until you bludgeon it how you see fit. If a gym destroys you? Throw yourself at it again later. Lose a contest? Practice and redo. If you got a rival, kid, and he beats the shit out of you? Spend night and day prepping to give it back one thousand times over."
She turned back, piercing Dragomir's eyes with her cold gaze. "Go and do that. Travel more. Battle more. Enjoy yourself more. Then I expect to see you at my gym, and I expect you to give me a challenge." Her gaze softened a bit after that, and she plucked the cig from her mouth. "Anything else I can help you with, or are we done here? You seem to know all the basics. You just need to go hammer yourself into what you want to become."

Turning his attention away from the cigarette, he watched as she seemed to stare for a moment. His expression remained the same as it had before, and he met her eyes with his own, staring right back at her. A few moments passed before the Gym Leader finally spoke. Her advice resonated with him, and he would nod in return. "I will, miss. Thank you" he replied in kind.
As Ferris turned away, she would speak again.
That was her advice. And as she stated it, she turned to look back at him, and his gaze turned to meet hers instantly. He would listen intently to her words, listening to ensure he gleamed everything necessary...
His expression softened at the second to last bit, he smirked faintly. "I just might do that" he said quietly, referring to her expecting him to challenge her gym. To her last word, he would shake his head. "We're done here. Thank you for everything, miss" he stated thankfully.
He would nod politely to Ferris before turning to leave. Suddenly though, one of his Pokeballs would open, bringing out Skelle. "Hm?" Josh let out as he looked back. The Dusclops was staring intently at Ferris, for one reason or another. But before Josh could turn to try and see what was wrong, Skelle would suddenly be engulfed in a white light. Josh would raise an eyebrow, what in the world was...
Before his very eyes, the Dusclops would begin to transform. And once the light faded, it was easy to see why. Skelle had evolved into Dusknoir! Josh couldn't contain the grin that crossed his face. It was odd circumstances, but perhaps it had been respect to Ferris that Skelle had chosen to come out now when it knew it was time to evolve... Or perhaps there was another reason. He wasn't sure. He would pat Skelle on the back. "I'm proud of you, Skelle" he said quietly to the Dusknoir. Since it wanted to let itself out of it's ball, Josh saw no harm in just letting Skelle walk with him and Lightning. He would motion that it was time to go to the Dusknoir, who would seem to nod at Ferris one last time before following Josh and Lightning out. He was hoping to treat his Pokemon to a little something to celebrate what they had learned today.
