Protect.
Zernebog was more amused than anything else. So this Gym Leader had something in his little bag of tricks after all. And here he thought Hera was going to have a cakewalk with this Gyarados. Still, it was nothing but a minor setback at best.
”Hera, floor it.” He called out, his voice ringing loud and clear.
”Ele.” Hera, like her trainer, had recognized the translucent barrier for what it was. It was one hell of an annoying move, it couldn’t last forever. The worm’s going to have to come out of the cocoon sometime.
That was why instead of punching the charging pokemon like she normally would, she stood her ground and waited until she saw her opponent’s maw open up with something that felt cold even from here. The very instant he fired it off, her form glowed white for an instant as she dodged again, this time by darting forward and passing the Gyarados and his attack clearly.
Eying the serpentine form with smirk, she then placed her hands on the floor on and released two consecutive waves of electrical energy onto its surface. Since glass was an insulator and not a conductor, it didn’t allow the charges to seep into it, merely crawl over it. But that was the point. With the electrical charges on the glass surface, it allowed the electricity that the Electabuzz released over it to manipulate the charges on the surface itself by inducing a powerful dipole moment that would pull anything that wasn’t charged the same way it was, making those things cling to the floor like they had a severe case of static cling. Which is essentially what she was inducing- static cling.
That would include her trainer, the other trainer, and the Gyarados. She herself was unaffected because she made sure to manipulate the charges in her own body’s surface to be the same as that of the floor, enabling her to move even faster… though now she can’t stop moving because the surface won’t let her stop. So now she was just slowly circling –gliding, really- around the Gyarados after she released the charges, waiting to see if it can break free of the static cling she created.

Electabuzz dodges Ice Beam using Quick Attack and then induces a static cling effect on the gym floor, affecting everyone but herself by using Shock Wave... which doesn't miss.

So even despite this tactic the Pokemon still found a way around it, the man would only shrug not really sure how he would take this loss seeing as he was unable to get passed the guys first Pokemon, with a sigh Alister only watched not really expecting what happened next. The electrical charge came his way!? The male braced himself feeling the electricity cling to his body as both he, and Gyarados were hit with the electrical charge the man would bite down on his own teeth, as his Gyarados roared in pain. Finally the feeding of the electricity was over, the male would almost fall to his knees but didn’t instead he looked up seeing his Gyarados wobble side to side but now out of the fight, however the leader raised his Pokeball surprising even his own Gyarados who still seemed ready to fight. ”Battles over” he said with a smirk absorbing Gyarados into the Pokeball, shrinking the sphere in his palm he dusted his hands together then walked over to the man named Zernebog, passing Electabuzz on the way there. ”Welp! Good job man, I know I ended the battles early, but truth be told I am just a stepping stone. You’re here for the badge, you earned it” he said holding out the badge in his hand, then flicking it up like a quarter. The badge would arc in the air then come down towards Zernebog, with a chuckle Alister turned on his bare feet ”Continue the gym challenges, good luck on the other battles friend, and congratulations!” he turned over his shoulder giving the man a smirk, with a nod.
It was a loss, but Alister was not mad, he was glad that his final battle as Gym leader was against someone he would be unable to defeat even if he had tried one hundred percent, whoever this Zernebog guy was he was one hell of a trainer, and Alister counted himself lucky to have had the honor to face him in a battle before his retirement. Walking off the male would raise a hand closing it into a tight fist, ”Hoorah!” he called out, before running on the glass surface and kicking off its surface to dive head first into his gigantic pool!

Something went wrong.
The minute Zernebog saw Alistair and the Gyarados screaming in pain from the electricity that spread from Hera’s electric pulse, he knew that something had gone horribly wrong in the execution. The move was only supposed to make them stick to the floor like they were on flypaper, not actually electrocute them! He himself had only felt a small tingle, but that was probably due to his distance from the rest of the fight diffusing the power from the shock wave.
”Electa?” Hera could only look on, flabbergasted that she had actually failed in applying the correct voltage to induce the dipole like she always did before.
What shocked the both of them though was that instead of continuing the battle after receiving his very own shock treatment, the man actually had the gall to recall his pokemon back to his ball and quit, declaring them the winner even though the second round had just started.
Zernebog’s eyebrow could only twitch violently underneath his bandana even as he caught the badge that was tossed to him. That was it? That was seriously it? He hadn’t even started with the awesome stuff yet!
”Right....” Zernebog trailed off as he watched Hera approach him, looking unusually stoic as she took her place by his side. ”Thanks. I’ll do that.”
With that said, he let his gaze linger at the other guy as he went back to his pool before turning around and walking out of the gym. A badge was a badge, even if it felt like he hadn’t even struggled much. Maybe the other gyms would be more challenging? He certainly hoped so, or else Gwyneth owed him for even entertaining the thought of completing this particular circuit.
