Nickol arrived where he had once restarted. Nuvema Town is where his request for a PokeDex was shot down upon his arrival. After flying to Nacrene City and visiting the library the young man now had some purpose. He was ready to explore the forest with his three companions - an Infernape, Salamence, and Scizor. This was a common starting town for beginning trainers. Nick had no worries, not with the expertise he had under his belt. He coughed shortly, a small, strong cough. His mouth then opened wide to take in the fresh air of youth.
The stout trainer would set foot into the forest of the town. His ivory strands moved as a small breeze stroked his high crown. His hazel eyes glanced over the green and orange forest. The season change was upon us, and mother earth was making her changes. The trainer was aptly prepared for some good times and travel. This was his new story. His new journey. His path to becoming a member of the elite.
'Withdrawals,' she convinced herself. Withdrawals from the war. It is hard, coming from a place where battle happen regardless of time and place and suddenly, it's peace.
Peace. So much peace.
She's getting lazy, and her body feels it, her mind screams it, warning her of the danger that could be. That's how she finds herself stopping in this town, in the midst of her random travels. She had taken bought a nice canned drink, changing her Pokemon and intent on practicing, perhaps training a little in the forest outside of town.
From the small self-tour she took around, it seems like this is one of those starter towns, where people begin their journey. Sounds cool, maybe she could go visit the lab for a bit later, just to take a look, but for now, training comes first.
Stellar gently walked to the edge of town, her pace brisk but forced relaxed. As per usual paranoia, one that she had not get rid of, one of her Pokemon is out with her, her beautiful, sweet Sae, her shiny Ninetales, walking by her side. The gleam on the silver fox coat caught some attention, but most trainers that are here have little experience or have heard little of oddly colored Pokemon, so Stellar assumes there's not much attention as she walks to the forest...
Some early training, eh? Nick thought as he grabbed the oak pole hanging diagonally on his back. He stamped the stick into the ground and pulled one PokeBall from the string hanging off. The 'pop' noise would be heard as his flaming ape arrived to the field. The mild mannered Infernape looked at his trainer confused at why Nick called him for such a little opponent. The Foongus was a shrimp in size - compared to Ral. "I know, I know. Let's just get into the swing of things, start off with a win." The confident trainer spoke. The two had been around each other for ten years, Ral could just look at Nick and he knew what his partner was thinking; and vice-versa.
The Infernape cracked his knuckles and the flames from his crown began to vigorously spout. "Flame Wheel." Ral had a smooth running start and then his speed picked up towards the Foongus. The Foongus was minding its own business really, but heard the stamping of the Infernape as the creature neared. She hopped along merrily - but she wasn't quick enough. Ral would tumble into a fierce orb of fire as he dashed for the little grass mushroom. She was too slow, definitely not fast enough to see this attack coming. It was an obvious one-hitter quitter. As Ral unraveled he stood over the now 'x-eye' Foongus. She was finished. As he turned to look back at his smiling trainer a puff of spores escaped the Foongus' body.
Ral used Flame Wheel! Ral is Paralyzed.
Ral's body locked up and began twitching. "Damn." Nick said as he noticed his Infernape was paralyzed! Surely that fantastic flame wheel caught the attention of a pedestrian. Around this time, maybe the two would lock eyes.
Of course, Nick saw the shiny fox. But he was quite in the zone about his mark, but now the itemless trainer needed some help. "Yo! Lady with the Shiny Ninetails -" He called. Yeah, that was quite unorthodox. Rude even. Hopefully she would respond. He is waving his arms too.
The flame wheel actually caught Stellar and Sae's attention, both stopping and taking a quick glance to judge how dangerous the situation is, and whether do they need to be prepared for anything. Seems like it's just some training, though the Infernape looks way too powerful for a trainer that just begun on his journey.
...ah, paralyzation. Stellar had winced when the attack hit the Foongus. Why? Why would you attack a Pokemon who didn't challenge you? She can't understand. She only trains with hostile Pokemon, or by pitting her Pokemon against each other after all.
("Yo! Lady with the Shiny Ninetails -")
Stellar locked eyes with the trainer, who seems to call her. Help for the status problem? Most likely. A quick pat on her Ninetails; Sae let out a small sound that confirms she can take on the Infernape if this is a trap.
The woman's journey direction change, and she was in front of Nickol in a a few minutes, her hand already checking through her bag. "....Here, a Paralyze Heal," she handed over the item. Stellar tend to carry status items, but that's because she doesn't have a status healer in her team, though she doesn't carry much cause of how often she visits the Pokemon Center to let her Pokemon rest.
"....Why the need to attack an unassuming Pokemon?" Stellar asked as she walked over to the fainted Pokemon ,taking out a revive and feeding it. The Fonngus coughed lightly, and Stellar took out a Potion, healing it fully. "....There, you're fine now." She considered taking it into the Pokemon Center, but the burns looks light enough not to kill, just injure, which is great, and the Potion took care of most of it. It looks like it'll do just fine.
The woman took the Foongus and placed it behind some rocks, where it can recover safely, before looking back at Nick. "...Is it for training, perhaps? The Foongus is too weak to be a training partner, you know." Beside er, Sae flicked her tails, agreeing with her trainer.
Pink eyes. The man was caught in the gaze of the woman for a minute. Her eyes were as beautiful as the coat on her Ninetales. She was sweet. Her hands moved as she healed the fallen Foongus. He just stood and watched as the woman went to work with no questions. Her height was kinda just right, although Nick was taller she wasn't too short. Nick snapped back into reality and sprayed his Infernape a couple of times. Ral cracked his knuckles and nodded at his healer. He cut his eyes towards Nick - who didn't have anything to cure paralysis. The male trianer was looking like a rookie right now.
Ral was cured of paralysis!
The woman had quite a lot to say, before Nick could get his thought out she had another line waiting for him. Did she disapprove of his attack? Was it really that brutal and too much. "That is nature. If not I, then who? That Foongus and all Pokemon will eventually have to grow up and understand battle - unless they are domesticated from the wild." He said as he watched the Foongus, although injured move along. Ral walked over standing aside his trainer, his arms folded as he stared at the Ninetales. Ral's stare wasn't intense, but he just wanted to feel out the fox; if that makes any sense."I guess that was training though." He said with a shrug and a little smirk. He was actually on a hunt for some new Pokemon to raise. That Foongus was just a pass time and to get the ball rolling.
"But, I doubt anything in this forest is on my caliber."
Interesting thought, however cruel. Life is cruel, however, and Stellar have tasted that first hand. "One can take small steps, it doesn't have to be harsh teaching," was Stellar's stance, but she will not argue if he stands by his point. She probably felt like the Foongus, more or less, being hit by the unexpected and had been given a chance to heal, and it was only her right to feel slightly bitter at the coldness of this trainer.
The Foongus is gone, now. Stellar knew that by her side, Sae was watching the Infernape carefully, ready to intercept if the other trainer decides to attack the Foongus once more. Instead, the Infernape stared at her, and the Ninetales just looked back at him coolly. The Fox Pokemon was no stranger to cruelty; most of Stellar's team share that kind of past. She knew she could defeat the Infernape if she needs to, that much Sae was confident enough, and it shows in her stance, confident, strong and somewhat proud.
Stellar looked down for a moment at the trainer's words, sighing lightly. He sounded like some of those daredevils, and the last time she had heard of daredevils three of them were killed inside the Cerulean Cave, one survived but traumatized, probably for the rest of that teen's life. Still, if he wants training, Stellar suppose she could give him training, and maybe it would tire him well enough to leave this are and go for the next.
"I can be our training partner," she offered, patting Sae, "What kind of battle do you feel like going for? Single, double perhaps?" The Ninetails cooed. "One on one? When you have picked...." Stellar smiled, "Would you like to go first?"
Nick grinned. He was not so arrogant to bust out in a full laughter, his grin was enough. It was really a slight chuckle, more grin than chuckle, so it will be described as a grin. Nick definitely didn't take this woman serious as a trainer - especially not one to challenge him. He was underestimating this lady and her pink eyes for sure. Maybe she would prove him wrong. Because, of course he was happy to oblige her request to assist his training. "I love your eyes." He said as his hazel eyes attempting to connect with hers. "But, I don't see you defeating me." He placed his hands inside his pocket and began to mosey on back a few feet.
Ral remained in the same spot. The ape would kneel down and crossed his arms. He then lifted his right leg and crossed it over the knee of his left. He was kneeling on one foot, supporting his whole body. Eyes closed as his meditation began. He could feel the energy in this forest. He could feel Nick searching for conflict and his trainer was going to get it. Like a noble and loyal knight, Ral would be there on the front line for his trainer despite his own opinion and desire. The two had an excellent relationship and neither wronged the other - therefore there was concrete trust. A bond that could not be broken. The nonverbal communication and understanding could be viewed as the peak product between and boy who grew up with his partner for so long. Nick knew this woman understood that he was no rookie trainer - yet she still challenged him. That was exciting.
He slammed his staff down once again. He planted the oak pole into the earth as he looked at his balanced Infernape. "Well, my name is Nick. I am happy to take you on. A one on one should be fine." He said with a glowing smile. Can you feel the love tonight?
Ral is meditating - waiting for his opponent to attack.
ooc - i know and you're a woman trainer, ugh is he gonna think he's the king of the jungle. lol
Stellar blinked, before letting out a soft giggle. Compliments like that, she have learned, would only mean several things; either she could make use of that underestimation, or she could make a proper ally. In this case, underestimation is definitely the way to go, considering this trainer's following sentence. Now, Stellar is not the type to manipulate anyone, she's too free and straightforward for that, but when you are thrown to war as young as she was, you are bound to pick up a technique or two in order to survive.
Perhaps, just perhaps that this man is an excellent trainer, then Stellar is in for a real treat. A good battle is always welcomed, a win all the more wanted.
"It depends," she answered neutrally, but the smile is there, "A one on one it is." Her hand continued patting on her Ninetales, who purred at the touch. "My name is Stell. May we have a good battle." Gently, almost daintily, Stellar moved backwards, shifting her focus to Sae.
"Sae, you know what to do."
The Ninetales nodded....and turn her attention on the Infernape, smile gone from the Pokemon's face and eyes flashing red. With a leap she was up in the air, the Ninetales slamming all nine tails down at the meditating Infernape, each tail laced with Toxic. Whether or not any of the tails managed to grace the Infernape is another matter; Sae jumped backwards, eyes glowing with an added shine as Calm Mind begins to soothe the Pokemon's thoughts, ready for the rough battle ahead.
Behind, Stellar's smile soften, watching her Pokemon move. Sae needs no commands from her, all Stellar needed to do was to be her second eyes, not her commander. There's no point exerting full control over a Pokemon, for who knows better how to battle than those in the battle themselves? She trusts her Pokemon, the kind of trust that was built over years of desperation, of survival, of raising and of life. The only bond stronger than Sae and Stellar is the trainer's bond with her main Pokemon, and that was close to unbeatable.
"Annndddddd -" Nick said as he watched the Ninetales bring its purple-hued albeit tails crashing down to where Ral was. Dust lifted as he creature was now in a meditative state. The debris would clear and - "Ral is faster than you." Nick teased as his Infernape stood on a lonely branch with his arms crossed and eyes intensely locked the Ninetales. Naturally, the Infernape was faster, but there was only a marginal difference. He wasn't going to be able to dodge all day like this fox is some Slowpoke.
"Mach Puch." Nick called. The branch bounced as if was elastic. The ape was gone in a blink of an eye. He would appear like a bullet coming straight for your dome. His eyes intense and his veins bulging as his cocked fist was glowing intensely from the sheer speed. This had to be the quickest punch ever - surely there were executors faster than Ral though. His fiery crown made this punch all the more artistic as he aimed for the jaw of the fox. Nick watched to see the results he knew Ral was a close combat fighter and highly doubted Ninetales skills close quarters. But with what seemed to be a poison-type move at her disposal getting close could be very endangering.
Oh yeah, the branch finally snapped. Damn Ral was fast, even the acts of nature can't keep up.
Ral dodged and used Mach Punch!
ooc - fast play action. this is going to be fun. tags - @stellar
The dodge was to be expected, Stellar and Sae both knew that. It was lucky to get a hit in, but if the other trainer could brag, he also definitely could pull of a showy first move. It kinda goes hand in hand, Stellar guessed. Always had been, didn't always end too well.
She could hear her heartbeat in her ears, blood boiling as adrenaline filled her, her instincts to fight or flee matching with her Ninetales on the field. They are one, they are two, simply two parts of a whole.
There are no commands.
The Mach Punch that came was taken fully by Sae, who took it without a cry or a wince. What a big girl she has become, Stellar thought fondly, but she could almost feel the pain that Sae had taken, and vowed to watch out for moves like that. Mach Punches are hard to deal with but that's only because they are fast....there are many other ways of dealing with fast things.
Perhaps the Infernape should have watched out, though , Ninetales' tails are fluffy, long and there's nine of them, and each of Sae's tails were still drenched with Toxic, who doesn't evaporate all that easily. By coming in for the Mach Punch and actually landing a hit, sending Sae backwards, skidding on the floor, the Infernape has also allowed itself to get close enough for Sae's tail to brush against it, those Toxic dripping dangerously.
"How do you feel?" was Stellar's only question to her Pokemon, who bounced back up and let out a little coo. "Excellent~"
The Ninetales bounced back with a Flame Charge, entire body coated in flames and heading like a fiery bullet towards the Infernape.
"Daughter of a bi-" Nick almost finished as he saw Ral staggered. The Pokemon began to cringe a little as the poison crept into his bloodstream. Damn. His Infernape's posture had gotten sluggish that Ninetales was devilish. He would have to finish this battle quickly before Ral was done for. The gloves were off now. "Ral buckle down." Nick said as he saw the Ninetales darting forward in a flush of fire. As the fox closed in it's like time moved slow. Every second felt like a minute, long and drawn out. Eventually, bam the beast hit. "Grab her!" He exclaimed.
The attack was not that effective against the flaming ape. His eyes were calm, as he knew the poison was in his body. As she made contact Ral would attempt to lock his hands around the neck of the shiny beast. 'Thou has poisoned me. Get ready to feel the power of nature's volcano.' Ral said to Sae. The archaic talk is quite odd, but nonetheless this battle was heating up - literally. Ral was filled with rage as his fists began to glow. The ape would attempt to use Close Combat. With Sae being brave enough to use a physical move against the Infernape surely his physical typing would expose her flaw.
The ape would throw a barrage of punches attempting to knock the hot fire out of the mystical fox. His eyes were red with the passion of a budding fire, his fist were glowing hopefully they would connect with the tender fox. His health was deteriorating with every punch there wasn't much time. This battle would not be an opera, no it would be a short set, one for people to enjoy the passion and bond these trainer's share with their Pokemon.
Ral is badly poisoned.
Ral is hit by Flame Charge, and uses Close Combat!
ooc - oohhh you like it fast lol. good haxing toxic maneuver. tags - @stellar
Toxic., a move that could easily kill, whether Pokemon or human.
Stellar knew that for the potency of Toxic for this battle is definitely lowered, since this is just a practice match. It looks like it's still good and strong, though, considering the effect it has on the Infernape. "Sae, speed up!" was her only encouragement, and all that the Ninetales need.
Saedea hit the Infernape hard and strong with her Flame Charge, but the damage was not large, not that that was her intention in the first place. No, Flame Charge was an excellent way to get near an opponent and cause however many damage, no matter how slight, but in this case, Saedea and Stellar wanted something else. Rai had been fast, extremely fast, and why not try matching it?
Flames charged through Sae's bloodlines, the Flame Charge earlier increasing her speed, making her into a silver blur. As Rai's arms locked around her neck, Sae's speed was at that level that she executed the next attack before the Close Combat, her eyes glowing brighter, fiercer, and her body's silver turn darker. Dark purple energy that was being emitted from her body suddenly reaches out to envelope Rai, from the point where his hand is around her neck and towards his whole body.
Hex.
A move that doubles it's damage if a target has a status problem. Already Hex is pretty dangerous in it's own right, allowing Sae a slight type coverage, but in this case, it's just wonderful, attack power doubling because of the Toxic and increased furthermore by the Calm Mind at the start of the battle.
Behind, Stellar's eyes locked onto Nick's, eying the trainer's movement. It's an unconscious thing, on her part, for when in war, who follows the rules fairly and squarely? She had her fair share of trainers slamming the second Pokemon into battle just to get an advantage, and her own hand hovered over another pokeball in case he wants to play dirty.
"Feint!" Nick called immediately as he saw the eerie rush. The poisoned ape's punch would be intercepted by the ghostly attack only for the Pokemon to fade away. He buckled atop the tree branch as a red light covered the valiant fighter. Nick was surprised that a woman had pushed him that far. He did not want to take a chance and see how far Stella would push him and Ral - not right now at least. He clapped his hands because that was really a good little skirmish, they would have to partake in a full battle one of these days.
Used Feint to dodge and Returned
Nick walked over towards the woman now, he could tell that she was no rookie to battling. "The clock was just ticking for Ral. I let him get poisoned, which was a bad mistake. And in a forest there's no need to really get fired up - might burn this place down." Nick said. Two fire-types battling in a forest is never a good idea. He noticed the ground was hotter and even some bushes were already blazed from Ral's prior Flame Wheel and Sae's Flame Charge. It's probably best for the habitat that the youth stops. Deep down the stout trainer did not want to stop - no he wanted to keep going and Ral did too. But considering the quietness of his opponent - surely they both held back. I mean they are in a forest too using fire-types; one of which had a flaming temple. Nick was intrigued. He would have to get to know more about this woman.
ooc - perhaps we can go to that board where we can post less than 150 words and roleplay the conversation we would have right now.
The clapping pulled Stellar out of the battle's seriousness, and with that, she pretend to dust her skirt lightly instead, to cover the fact that her hand had been lightly hovering on another Pokemon if Nick had wanted to play dirty.
She offered the man a smile. "I have water ready if the fire had gotten out of hand," she chuckled lightly, "and as for being fired up, Sae's Flame Charge is easily re-absorbed." The Shiny Ninetales did have Flash Fire for ability. But yes, fighting fire in a forest was never a good idea. Pokemon attacks are too destructive as it is.
Sae padded back to Stellar's side, and the woman patted the Ninetales, kneeling down and checking her over. "Looks like nothing too bad is damaged," she murmured to herself, "How do you feel, Sae? How's that jaw? Your neck?" The only two placed where the hit had landed direct, and Stellar even brushed over Sae's shoulder blades, where she had scratched herself when the Ninetales was thrown backwards earlier.
The Ninetales seemingly gave the woman a grin, nodding easily. The battle was easily satisfying, but not too damaging. Been to worse, done worse, this is legal battling, and legal battling will never get anymore dangerous, only more rush and rules. This battle had been great, washing away what restlessness Stellar had before, and she felt more calmer now, no longer hearing heartbeat in her head.
Stellar nodded, patting Sae more, before getting up and offering her hand to Nick to shake hands with. "It's been a good practice match," she said, "But I believe your Infernape needs to get to a Pokemon Center fast, just in case." She actually ran out of antidotes, ironically enough. Now that this happened, Stellar made a mental note to stock up on some.
She took a look at the surroundings, noting the damage. Not too bad, nothing that couldn't be cleaned up with a few attacks. Her mind ran through her current team, thinking of who to sent out.
"Bryiel," was her choice, and a Seel popped out of a pokeball, immediately latching on to Sae, snuggling to the Ninetails. Stellar smiled at the scene and at Sae's disgruntled, but fond look. "Bry, Aqua Ring, please?"
The Seel look up at Stellar, blinking for a moment, confused, before nodding her head. Stellar pointed at the flaming bush, and the look of confusion became a look of understanding. "Seee-!"
Light blue rings surrounded the flaming bushes, dousing it with magical water, enough to douse it off. Thank goodness the flames were small, and that meant she didn't need to ask for more water power from her main Pokemon. She turned to Nick.
"That's settled, then. I'm heading to the Pokemon Center. Coming along, or do you have somewhere to heal?" Beside her, the Bryiel happily doused an Aqua Ring on Sae as well, by sitting on top of the Ninetales and surrounding both of them in water rings, much to Sae's chagrin. The Ninetales oddly bear with it, though, and the baby Seel seems happy.
