Gold snorted. “Yeah, I know where Sinnoh is, old man. I’ve got friends there.” Said friends he had met a few years ago; Platinum, Diamond, and Pearl were all cool kids who were just as deserving of the title of ‘Dex Holder’ as any of the others. The old guy was certainly right about one thing: from what he had heard, Sinnoh certainly seemed like one of the most consistently chilly places in the world. Though the fact that the old man called it the “land of the gods” gave Gold the impression that the old man was trying to impress him. Of course, this old guy couldn’t have known that the young man he was speaking to had faced off against the closest thing to a god this world had: Arceus, the Alpha Pokemon.

Now that he thought about it…Alpha Pokemon… Ruins of Alph… did those two share a connection? Maybe. He didn’t really care if they did, he wasn’t an archeologist.

He sneered at the man’s question. “Oh, I would have thought someone who’s been around soooo many regions would have known about Explotaro’s species. From the way you’ve been talking, it just seems like you would have at least known about Typhlosion.”

Instead of infuriating Zernebog further, all that question managed to do was kill the fuse on the powder keg. It was hard to be mad at such blatant hypocrisy- well okay it’s actually very easy, but the way the kid tried to sneer at him and make him feel dumb was more amusing than anything. ”That question coming from the kid who didn’t know what a Haunter was?” Zernebog deadpanned, crossing his arms. Behind him, Erebus started to give a bone-chilling laugh as he sneered at both pokemon and trainer. ”At least I have the excuse of a Typlosion probably being only native to this region. I know that Haunters are common in multiple regions, especially the Kanto and Johto ones. If you’ve been everywhere you said you have been in this region, then you should have recognized a Haunter without having to look at that gadget you got.” The white haired trainer pointed out, looking all the more amused. Sure, a little bit of his true intelligence was coming out from the shifty thug/criminal façade he had going on, but it was so worth it to put the brat in his place. ”So what’s your excuse?” Once again, Zernebog couldn’t help but think that the kid should be thanking his lucky stars that he was supposed to be staying clean and not resorting to criminal activity. It would be… unfortunate if they had to clean their bloody smears on the walls because he judged the boy to be a liability. He looked like the type to meddle in someone’s affairs like some goody two-shoes anyway.

Gold simply shrugged nonchalantly. This old guy really didn’t know much, did he? “Alright, lemme break it down so someone like you can understand,” he sighed, rubbing his forehead in exasperation. By now he decided to straight up ignore the Haunter, whose laugh seemed more obnoxious than frightening. -if it got any funny (read: dumb) ideas, Explotaro would make sure it knew exactly how foolish it was.

“I’ve been everywhere in Johto, but I never said I’ve SEEN everything, got it? If I’d SEEN everything, I would have finished this thing by now, ya get me, old guy?” Really, it was a bit delusional to think that being a place meant that you’d seen every single inhabitant of the area.

“I don’t know if you know this, old man, but ‘common’ means ‘more frequent’. It doesn’t mean ‘can’t walk a few miles without running into one’. And how the hell would you know that Haunter are common here? How many have YOU run into? And if I had ran into any Haunter in Johto, they sure as hell weren’t worth remembering. Speaking of Haunter, can you tell yours to back off? That ‘creepy Pokemon’ shtick is really getting old fast. If you could, that would be awesome.”
