APPEARANCE
Description: What someone sees first when they meet someone new can vary immensely, but for our purposes, let’s start off with her figure. Vesta Dressler stands at a five feet, nine inches (5’ 9”) and weighs in at one-hundred fifty-six pounds of muscle (156 lbs.), an impressive body for a woman, taller and heavier than most. Whether Vesta realizes it or not, the girl has quite an attractive body (even with all of the things working against her); while she is strong and has plenty of muscle to her, she is hardly bulky, instead having a relatively thinner body, even having an hourglass figure. Still, even a cursory glance at her body, assuming she is wearing fewer clothes than normal, tells the story of a powerful, muscular body. Her combination of beauty (in the eye of the beholder) could easily earn her the name ‘Valkyrie’.
On her face, Vesta holds eyes as gold as a wildcat’s, just as fierce in her anger but just as calm in what qualifies as her serenity. She has a surprisingly delicate look on her countenance, or rather, it would look so if not for the fact that she is almost always glaring, and when she isn’t she generally has an uncaring look and air about her. Framing the top half of her face is her hair, clean, well-groomed, kept at a length that covers the small of her back, stained red much like the blood that spilled from her for so long.
Her apparel is, to say, less than flattering. Her clothing actually bears some resemblance to a red Electric-type specialist; at her feet are heavy black combat boots, and stuffed into them are loose green cargo pants, and with a white sleeveless t-shirt coupled with a loose black jacket, she has the look of an off-duty soldier, and her selected style of clothing tends to give her the figure of a brick. More than that, though, she keeps a large black military-esque knife just above her rear, the handle of the blade pointed at her right (as she is right-handed), usually hidden by her hair if it isn’t moving.
While normally they are hidden, Vesta has a many distinguishing features, namely, scars. She has plenty of them, but most have faded with the passage of time, and those that did were relatively minor scars to begin with. However, she still has several very noticeable scars on her body, including a puncture-wound-esque scar on her right upper arm, several scars on her back including a relatively large cut stretching from about the middle of her right shoulder blade to the left in a diagonal direction downwards, about a foot long, a few scars along her legs, and remnants of a bite on her lower left arm.
As Aspis, Commander and enforcer of Team Steinhart, Vesta has a much, much different appearance; as well she should as her outfit was designed by her leader to hide her identity. Aspis wears the standard Team Steinhart uniform, though unlike the grunts, who wear gold trims, Aspis’ rank allows her the color of red (specifically a cornell red shade).
Beyond the relatively tight (but still somewhat loose) clothing, Aspis wears a zip-up torso trench coat, primarily black in color, but with complimentary grays in areas like the chest and arms, styled to be striped downwards, and with a cornell red trim, just like her uniform. She also wears black gloves to complete the main outfit. Her knife, while normally sheathed above her rear, is situated on her left upper arm as Aspis, the handle pointing down.
Aspis wears a mask as well; an obvious way to hide her true identity. Her mask, unlike Saber’s is designed more towards intimidation. This is compounded by the fact that she wears specialized contact lenses; specifically, a set of blood red contacts that actually have the ability to reflect light if it’s caught in it, creating an effect similar to a predator cat’s eyes in the night, if they catch the light right.
In truth, the mask is more of a helmet than a mask; the metallic piece fits over her entire head, and comes with devices to ensure that her hearing isn’t impaired, a communicator, and a voice changer that distorts her voice so that it sounds like a mechanical male’s. She also has a tendency to hide her long hair in a special pocket hidden on the inside of the back of her Steinhart uniform, as well as a small hood-like ornament attaching to the back of her helmet, completely ensuring her hair is hidden, especially since fabric is attached to her helmet.
All of this creates an illusion that Aspis is actually an entirely different gender than Vesta, a fact that Vesta uses to her advantage to further hide her identity.
PERSONALITY
Personality: Vesta is a warrior woman in spirit and in training, that much cannot be denied; it even goes to the point where words like ‘Valkyrie’ and ‘Amazon’ could come to mind in the eyes of the more romantically-inclined. This is obvious even with a mere cursory glance; the redhead’s posture is always perfect, whether standing, sitting, or even lying down, the young woman’s stance is purposeful, her gaze is narrow and focused, yet alert at the same time, and even her physique, assuming that one saw past the normally loose clothing she wears, shows power and discipline.
Vesta is a case where her outward appearance betrays the interior; militaristic by nature, she is stubborn, she is incredibly self-disciplined, and, of course, her most pleasant side tends to come off as gruff and uncaring. Still, though her speech is often gruff and straight-to-the-point, her voice also often has a tone of respect to those that she addresses, though if one’s first impression fails to live up to her standards, she purposely removes this tone and makes no efforts to hide her dislike for the person. The opposite is true when she addresses someone she deems her superior; as she was raised to serve and to hold her leader in highest regard, and as such, when she addresses or is addressed by her superior, she always stands at attention, her eyes always focus on them, and he rears pick up every single letter they utter.
Aside from her loyalty, Vesta is also characterized by a remarkable lack of empathy developed from years of not only living alone with her father, but also from years of violence and abuse. To put it simply, unless it’s her problem, she can walk past a gang war without suffering any desire to stop it, nor be guilted into giving to a charity for no reason by some wide-eyed child.
However, while her surface is frozen completely with ice, beneath the surface beats a vast fire. This redhead has a fiery temper that can be hard to reign in, not helped by a low tolerance for anything that doesn’t fit into her world view, though said very also gives her a fierce determination that isn’t met often. If her temper isn’t the cause of it, this fire can often be seen in her training methods, both personal and Pokémon; Vesta’s methods for training her Pokémon can be seen as brutal and downright cruel, depending on the viewer, though could be surprised as for the reason why her training is so strenuous. While one may believe that her methods are sourced in a belief that she doesn’t care about her Pokémon and only sees them as tools, they couldn’t be any more wrong; Vesta actually cares greatly for her Pokémon – particularly Howi and Oscar – she simply works them so hard to bring out every single drop of power possible. She is a military officer, and her Pokémon are her squad and her teammates; they deserve and get respect, but they follow her rules without exception. In exchange, they give each other loyalty.
Vesta is a soldier, loyal to her superiors, equals, and underlings, respectful to all three, if uncaring to the rest, and yet, she isn’t without her faults, if you don’t consider anything mentioned yet a fault. While she doesn’t completely realize it, she does have a great amount of daddy issues boiling in a bottle somewhere in her. She generally tries to avoid talking about her past, at least, concerning her father himself, but if pressed, denies any allegations that she hates or dislikes her father due to a combination of lingering loyalty to him (forced or otherwise) and, again, though she doesn’t know it, in order to cope with the fact that she does. A lingering effect of father in particular (considering he shaped her entire being, more or less), is a debilitating fear of Kabutops; the very name makes her shudder and puts her on edge since it was the most common Pokémon her father used to make her afraid.
Vesta’s skills are not something to ignore; while she is focused almost completely on battle (even taking away points from her charisma and social stats), the skills she does have are to an extreme degree, in fact, she is at the physical peak a woman her age is capable of. She is capable of lifting upwards of 300 pounds (though not without difficulty) and is well-versed in fighting, particularly suited for grappling moves, knifeplay, and absorb blows/hide pain, though isn’t limited to those. She also has good knowledge on survival tactics, particularly hunting and shelter.
In short, Vesta is a powerful, fiery warrior woman, hidden under the prim and proper cleanliness of military upbringing and the icy veil of mercilessness. She has built her entire life up to now on being a loyal soldier and has absolutely no plans on changing that. Though she has a low tolerance for idiocy (even if she can refrain from acting on her annoyance if needed), if you give her respect that she deems proper, she will do the same. She is, first and foremost, a soldier, and she works for her superior’s goals with support from her Pokémon team.
Ambitions: Now that Vesta has found a job, her training and desires have suddenly shifted from keeping her body fit to complete and utter loyalty to not only Steinhart but to Saber himself. Her own desires come second to the desires of her superior, and she is willing to do anything in her power to make sure she is of good service.

HISTORY
History: Vesta’s misadventures began before she was even born in a man named Christopher Montrial. A man born in the desolate region of Orre, specifically in the criminal-run Pyrite Town, he always had a knack for criminal activity. As a boy he quickly became a talented pickpocket and thief due to necessity, but as a teen he grew into more violent crimes such as mugging travelers, initially avoiding violence but soon promoting himself to assault, and still he wanted to grow as a criminal.
On one day, counting his earnings from a recent mugging, Chris’ adult ears managed to catch wind of a criminal organization in a distant land called Johto. Such a concept was hard to resist, and though it was difficult, he managed to find his way out of his home region and get to Johto, soon finding what he heard correct and signing himself up for Team Rocket. For years he served in Team Rocket, serving quite well, actually, and climbing the ladder, too, however things took an interesting turn when, during a mission in Mahogany, Chris met a young researcher named Asuka Ugumi. Love at first sight was hardly what it was, but there was definite attraction on Chris’ part, and soon with some minor effort, they were dating, and eventually got married (where Chris reluctantly took Asuka’s name rather than vice versa).
Vesta was born not much later, named such by her father to make up for the fact that Asuka’s pride prevented herself from taking his name. Despite the beautiful young child, the relationship otherwise was falling apart at the seams. Asuka was trying not to hate herself for rushing into a relationship, while Chris was becoming increasingly resentful towards Asuka, her pride and powerful personality conflicting with his own desires for power. This culminated in a very messy divorce and Chris kidnapping his child and running away to Sinnoh, changing his last name on the way.
Though her early years were pleasant enough, as soon as Vesta was able, she begun training. They lived in a farm on the outskirts of Solaceon Town – which Chris attained through surprisingly legal means - just enough out of the way for an amazing amount of privacy. There, she was cut off from the world; home taught, disallowed to leave the farm, disallowed to socialize . . . her training wasn’t pleasant, either. He demeaned her emotionally, beating her down into the ground until she was completely under his control. At the same time, he physically pushed her beyond her limits in ways that made a boot camp look like a tea party.
At fifteen, her father allowed Vesta to begin training with her Pokémon. In fact, he gave her two; A Magby that he bred from his very own Magmortar (that Vesta named her new Pokémon after) and a Poochyena that he attained through theft, the unfortunate true owners giving up hope a year later. As far as Vesta knew, her father merely caught the dog, allowing her to bond well with what she would name Oscar and Howi.
Despite her loyalty, she had a growing desire to escape, a desire for peace, and though she did not recognize these feelings per se, she still developed an escape plan, executing it and soon leaving Sinnoh entirely.
