Her Armaldo waved back at her almost awkwardly, and Stellar patted him. Really, Sy should be a little more confident of himself, he's a really excellent Pokemon.
On the other hand....Stellar sighed and looked at where she wanted to go. In her hand is a flyer, and she was careful to cover it as her Armaldo stepped out of the water and shook his body to dry himself a little. Really now, though, what could possibly make people suicidal enough to come here without preparation? The Cerulean Cave does sounds like a dangerous place after all.
Stellar folded the paper and tuck it into her bag. No matter. She has the time, so she should at least try helping them. Any help would be needed after all.
"Raven, Lyshra," she released her Umbreon and Mightyena, who blinked up at her. The Umbreon look around, wondering where her sibling is. "It's going to be a watery place," Stellar explained. Raven nodded, immediately understanding. The Umbreon's sister hates water after all.
"Now, come on guys," Stellar straighten herself, bringing her three Pokemon with her and walking into the cave, "We have four people to find. Somehow, they got lost. So let's start searching."
The Mightyena and Umbreon nodded, starting to sniff about. Her Armaldo, Sy, stayed closer to Stellar's side, eyes dartingaround. Stellar herself watched her surroundings carefully, wary of the rocks and the terrain.

OOC ::
Name: Truth or Dare Taken By: Open Catching: No Members: 1-4 Rewards: 25PD Description: One of Cerulean City’s less known attractions, Cerulean Cave has long been avoided by the city’s inhabitants due to the presence of the monstrously strong wild Pokemon that call the cave home – that being said, there is no cure for youth and stupidity, and young trainers, couples and civilians routinely enter the cave on dares or as tests of bravery. One group in particular entered the cave recently, but hasn’t been seen in town since – lacking Pokemon of sufficient strength themselves, local law enforcement has posted an open ad requesting capable trainers to search the cave for the missing people in their stead. Enter the cave and find them, but beware the wild Pokemon – they are far stronger than most, and there is strength in numbers!
The interior of the caves held a dank pungent smell of wet rock and earth. The light that dared shine its way down into the gaping mouth showing the greenish tint of the moss and lichen that stuck and grew over the walls and floor making it a slick mess of black mud. Venturing in further the light is slowly consumed by the darkness. Tell tale signs of graffiti in brilliant neon colors mark the walls like some illiterate tribes sacred ritual. B WUZ HEREZ and #1 YO are plastered on the walls floor and low ceiling the stalactite that hung looked like painted witches fingernails done up in a voo doo of color. Its there amongst the debris of empty, crushed soda cans, snack chip bags and cigarette wrappers that signs of a group gathering must've taken place. The wet dirt floor showing signs of foot prints going in deeper back inside. That's when you hear it, the strange echo that creeps up from the bowls followed by the pungent mist of air as if the cave belched in your face.
Notes: Make your way deeper into the cave, explore and look for clues to the missing people. Missions are where you tell the story of your characters adventure, whenever your stuck or need something prompt a Mod to toss you a challenge. I'll know when you've posted. I got you bookmarked.
As the group walked in deeper and the light from the outside gets swallowed, Raven's rings began to glow. Though it was meant to be an ability that scares people, Stellar is used to her Umbreon doing that for her in dark places, and thus, made used of the dim light it provided instead. Sy was beside her, making sure she doesn't fall to anywhere and hurt herself.
Suddenly, her Mightyena let out a bark, and as fast as possible Stellar made her way towards the sound. When she reached there her Umbreon was already there, so there was a light source, at least.
The woman scrunched up her face at the mess around there. All the graffiti signs just gave her an impression of how utterly foolhardy these teens are, so very ridiculous. All these snack bags, chips....unless travelers in this region eat snacks before they explore a cave, Stellar is pretty sure these are the signs of the teen's gathering. Nobody is going to eat this much junk food if they are actually serious of exploring this place after all.
Stellar bent down, trying to think as she look at all the junk. There are footprints inside, so they are all most likely still alive and went in, as they planned. She looked around again, hoping for a hint or anything, when a paper larger than most stood out among the mess. Grimacing, she took the paper and shook it softly to get the dirt away.
Oh look, there's stuff written on it.
'Mission: Get some treasure and become famous! Do not come back unless treasure is found! #YOLO'
....are they serious?
The urge to face palm is rather strong, really. Stellar stood up, feeling anger in her veins. These people, who couldn't appreciate that they are alive, risking their lives like this! She's tempted to just leave them be and abandon this mission, so they could taste their own medicine, but she stopped at that thought. ....the only way to understand their mistake is if they survive through it and remember it, after all.
Stellar sighed, letting her anger slowly ebb away. Before she could continue her journey to the deeper parts of the cave, though, a strange echo sounded. Immediately her Armaldo threw up a Protect, and her Mightyena and Umbreon snarled in warning. The two Pokemon's nose twitched, an unpleasant look on their face. The Protect has kept whatever smell it is though, from Stellar but, she guessed that there was 'some' smell that caused Raven and Lyshra's face to scrunch up like that.
"Are you guys alright?" she asked softly, and both Pokemon nodded, although with a disgusted look on their face. Lyshra yelped and moved forward first, tracking the smell. Slowly but surely Stellar followed, her Umbreon keeping her pace to make sure her light is available for Stellar.
Moving towards the smell is proving to be worse and worse for her Pokemon. Bare hints, but Stellar knew her Pokemon long enough to see they are recognizing the smell, which is bad. There is no reason for them to recognize any smell in this place, unless it is a friend of hers, or....the familiar smell of death.
And she was right.
"It all comes back to this, in the end, doesn't it?" Stellar murmured dejectedly. She was too late, one victim had been taken by this stupidity. It chilled her to the bones that this could be her once upon a time, when she was reckless enough to leave the house when she was so young. Stellar clutched on to her Aggron's pokeball, trying to draw comfort from her very first Pokemon. She warmed herself with the thought that the strength from her Pokemon is flowing from the pokeball and into her.
"....let's look for clues then," she mumbled. There's four, right? She crouched over the dead body, obviously mangled by some wild Pokemon, seeing the body is missing an arm, a leg and half from it's right side. Stellar grimaced at the fact that she's touching an obviously decaying corpse, and that she had not prepare for this possibility, thus, not bringing any gloves.
Her Mightyena and Umbreon ruffled through the corpse as well, helping their trainer to search, while her Armaldo stood guard, just in case a wild Pokemon is coming to claim it's meal, or attack them for another meal.
Though the mangled corpse lay cold and blue, the exposed flesh was already blackening, attracting the local bug life and small rodents into the abandon buffet.
However, in you search of the body you are able to recover a soiled red bow from the matted hair, a Library Member Card from the back pocket and of all the things, a can of repel tucked into the vest pocket. The victim deserved the Darwin award for this one as you pick up the can and shake it finding it to be nearly full.
It's within this terror filled scene a chatter fills the air. Alert and curious your pokemon look towards the sound venturing deeper as the ceiling rises up and opens out into a cavernous rift to the right side. The path leading around the left edge continuing on
That's when you hear it growing more intense what IS that noise?!
Notes: Items found are to be used in the Mission thread to continue through. Red Ribbon- Missing Hikers favorite. Member Card - I.D. for body. Repel- A lifesaver if one knows how to use it properly.
Make your way deeper into the cave, and inspect the noise. Watch out for the rift, you don't want to fall in.
Stellar shook the repel almost absentmindedly. This is sad at a whole new different level. The Library Card that she recovered shows the image of a pretty young girl, perhaps fourteen or fifteen, she didn't bother to calculate. Stellar's grip on her Aggron's pokeball became tighter than ever. That was around the age she had left home for the first time; this could have been her, once upon a time. It's scary, like an alternate universe echo.
This is bad, Stellar thought. She shook the repel again, before spraying it around her a little. She'll use it slowly, if that works. The ace trainer have full confidence that her Pokemon can take on the wild ones with not much problems, but still, it's better to meet no wild Pokemon in the first place.
"Let's continue," she said, choosing to stand up and move on. It is already too late for this one anyway, and now she have three more left to find. Her Umbreon nodded, and together with her Mightyena, both ventured ahead of her, checking the terrain and making sure nothing is going to happen before Stellar reach their spot. Stellar kept close to her Armaldo, slowly taking her steps.
Suddenly, her Mightyena let out a loud bark, startling some Zubats, who went flying away. Her Umbreon let out a grumble as well, rings glowing slightly brighter.
Oh, it's a rift.
Stellar's grip switch from her Aggron's pokeball to her Archeops'. Worse comes to worse...she backed off slightly and held on to her Armaldo, both taking even more careful steps. She's intend of searching for the source of that sound though, and every step her group takes the sound only seems to get louder.
"Raven, Ly, Sy, be careful," she warned in a whisper, and took more closer steps, wondering what it is.
The Repel falls around you just as the few startled Zubats brush past on their way outside. Their heightened senses causing them to pull away from the bitterant and continue on past you without a hitch.
As you draw nearer, to continue past the rift chaos starts to make itself known. Outnumbered beyond fathomable amounts a fleet a Zubats, Crobats and Woobats burst up from the rift filling the cave with screeching wails as the black cloud of leather wings both inspects the new meat, you and your pokemon, on the table and move to make it outside for their evening meal ticket.
Squealing, screeching letting loose with a maddening sound of thousands all at once you're shuffled around the rifts edge trying to avoid being mangled. However as luck would have it the cave floor is not as flat as it seems. Angled down in a slight slope the floor gently rolls into the rift before stopping abruptly with a smooth edge. Dust and small stone filter down off of it like a dirt waterfall into the abyss as stalagmites jettison up out of the earth. One of them holding a scrap of torn blue cloth caught on it.
Notes: You're in room 5, the rift is to your right in the shape of a crescent moon spanning the entire curve. A flock of flying pokemon have emerged out of the hole. Too many to fight them all but a few stragglers will attack out of curiosity.
Stellar closed her ears against the screeching sounds, trying to make some sort of thought in this situation. Her three Pokemon are suffering as well, and the decision was quickly made; they are of no help in this current situation beside Raven, who provides the light.
Her Armaldo's Protect had surrounded her in a moment, but her Mightyena and Umbreon was too far to be in the force field. Stellar have a feeling that if she left the two of them out any longer, they would end up to be these bat Pokemon's food.
"Return, Lyshra," The Mightyena didn't look all that happy to be returned, but there was understanding in the dark type's eyes. It was the next Pokemon's return that made her Pokemon panic. "Sy, return."
At that very moment, her Armaldo let out an uncharacteristic screech of distrest, obviously not happy with the command, but it was too late. The Protect fell from covering her, and Stellar took one more step back to cover herself from the bat Pokemon assaults.
She fell.
The ground gave way beneath her feet, and the woman panicked, but for only a moment. The next thing was that she's flying, her Archeops coming out in time and flapping his wings as hard as possible to keep them in the air, this abrupt flight. Stellar clung on to Sam's neck, looking upwards in time to see her Umbreon took the leap of faith, her Archeops catching the dark type safely in his claws.
"Thanks Sam," she sighed a breath in relief as the bat Pokemon flew over them, unable to break into the Protect shield that the Archeops had thrown up as well. Stellar could feel the rattle of her other Archeops pokeball, obviously disgruntled.
That's when the girl noticed the blue cloth.
"Sam, there."
The Archeops expertly flew towards that spot, and as they pass Stellar snag the torn cloth. Hmm, interesting. Maybe...
She look at the waterfall with dread.
...another one gone?
Raven let out a grunt, so Stellar took a look. Oh. Oh.
At the base of the waterfall is obviously land, and because of the wetness around that area, with enough light from Raven and since Sam is flying towards there to land as well, one could see footsteps.
Maybe, just maybe.
Stellar, once they landed, followed those footsteps. Sam followed her, the Protect still up, and Raven is back to leading the way with her light, deeper into the caves.
The dust trail that trickled down off the edge was stirred and blown about in the dark as it disappeared into the rift. With no bottom in sight. One would wonder if there was ever really an end to it or if it just continued on into hell. One thing was for certain, no one would be finding out anytime soon.
The scrap of cloth feels like something from a windbreaker jacket in your fingers as you move down the narrow necked path into the next corridor. It's here that you stop. Feeling your skin wash over with that sense of not being alone. The fine hairs prickle all over with goosebumps as something strange washes over you. Terror? No,...not quite yet. Fear? ...somewhat...but still not entirely. It felt like you suddenly realized you were standing in the lungs of some unseen creature. The beast that laid within.
The light from outside barely filters down in through the roots and rock over head. The ceiling too far up to reach and its shark like teeth hanging down in a deadly chandelier.
The foot prints are spread out twisted, half there as if they were running and dodging something. That's when you hear it, a feint breathing from the side. Shallow, nearly inaudible and shaking. Perhaps that feeling earlier wasn't just a fluke....
Notes: You're in room 6, the breathing is to your left hidden back in the far recesses of the cave amongst the jutting rock. Whether or not it's human or Pokemon is up to you. There's barely enough light in there to see by, it's still very much pitch black.
This cave is very deep, and so very dangerous. No wonder one must be somewhat strong to actually be here.
Stellar felt the hair at the back of her neck rise, her heart racing, the blood pounding in her head in a rhythmic way. She can't feel the bloodthirsty sensation that she always gets when she's stuck in a battle; instead, she felt something more akin to fear.
What an unwanted feeling. Stellar didn't expect to feel fear now, but then, in a place like this, she felt that sensation, the sensation of being cornered, ready to make a decision that will make or break her.
And the woman hates it.
The footprints were spread about, as though as whoever it is is unable to figure out where to go or what to do. It was Raven and Sam who picked it up first, the breathing, that is. Of course, Pokemon senses are always higher than humans, obviously.
"Human?" she whispered to her Pokemon, and Raven took a few steps forward, perking her ears.
Sam was the one who darted forward, Agility boosting his speed in less than a second, his tail glowing with the power of Dragon Tail, just in case. The Archeops let out a warning screech, aiming the tail at the breathing course, only to swing it away at the last moment and causing only a huge rumble throughout the cave, dust shaking from the ceiling, a crack on the floor.
And a huge sob and yelp from whatever that was breathing.
Raven let out a squeak, and ran towards the source as well, followed by Stellar. Now that it is not dangerous, the woman went to check whoever it is.
A survivor. Oh my Arceus, a survivor.
After a death, that seems almost like a blessing.
"Are you okay?" Stellar reached down and held the boy's shoulder. Teen? They look like they barely reached 13 years old!
The boy teen sobbed, finally realizing that the other is not going to harm him. Finally realizing that those Pokemon belonged to a trainer here to save him. "I-I-I'm s-s-sorry," his breath is coming out in hitches, "I-I got lost, it's m-my fault, isn't it?"
Stellar brushed the hair from the boy cheeks.
He must be traumatized, poor thing. She could feel her early indignant feeling at the whole situation come back up, but it was hard to feel like that when the poor, sobbing child is breaking down in front of her.
"Let's go home first," Stellar said. Hugs are probably needed, so the woman leaned in and hugged the teen, comforting him with soft shushes. "Come, we will get out of here......do you know what happened to you friends?"
The boy sobbed harder.
"Okay...what's your name?" Stellar patted the boy's back, worry on her face.
"Maxwell," the boy replied, surprisingly without a hiccup or hitch, with the rate he's crying, "I-I saw Aaron....he b-broke his n-neck at the w-waterfall. S-some G-Golbats c-caught Rolando b-by his h-head!" At this point his voice is turning hysterical. "H-he stopped moving, HE STOPPED MOVING ANDTHEREWASBLOODAND-!"
Stellar hugged him closer, pating his back a little harder to get him to stop screaming. So that torn cloth....and if that one got snatched by a Golbat....
"I dunno what happened to Riley though...." Maxwell whispered.
Ah. That's the end then. The corpse that she found, the library card had wrote Riley as name.
That's all four.
Only one is still alive.
Stellar knew that if she was any younger, she would cried along with the boy, but she's older and she has to be support now, right?
"Come on then, Maxwell," she pulled him up, "Let's go." She won't say what happened to his friends, just yet. It will only break him down further. Maybe later.
Then, the realization of something being wrong is back.
Raven's growling, and Sam's sudden use of Protect made Stellar aware of a new Pokemon who have just came near.
The woman turned to see what it is, the same moment Maxwell shrieked.
With a sharp swing of the head a hovering shadow can be seen creeping through the filtered rays of light like a spider. It moves in the dark just out of audible eye sight and then the walls and ceiling become alive. The shadows and rocks suddenly shifting as the heads of hundreds of small creatures turn to stare. The light catching their shiny stone eyes creating a tidal wave of glares surrounding you.
Perhaps this is what hell looks like, a mass of strange eyes boring down on you judging your very existence to the core. The eyes move and shift in the darkness crawling about the wall and clinging around watching and looking down at you curiously like spectators before a hissing chatter raises up from their throats. The mass of glares moving all over now, like a living smoke. The horde of Sableye's crawling out of every nook and cranny when a Woosh of wind blows straight at you shoving your hair back behind you over your shoulders.
DRAAAAYYYON! A roar echos shaking the very room sending tiny rocks down from above and sifting dust down into the fine light from the outside. Immediately out of nowhere it appears before you! Swooping down in a flip and landing in the center of the room the Hydreigon rocks the Sableye's and cave causing the rumble to thunder through the halls.
The three heads lob about in methodical clock and counter-clock wise motions each of them different in their paths as they snap and hiss towards the intruders. The sea of crystalline eyes ghostly hovering about in annoying chatter like a gladiator crowd cheering the fight on.
The cave has been busy this past week and it seemed to not be stopping anytime soon, when would these intruders learn? Zzzzzsssaahhh Zzzzzzsssaaahh The growling hiss of another is heard as from the side of another opening comes a Zweilous trotting out causing the Hydreigon to swing over and growl nipping at it to chase it back into the hall before swinging back to face off the opponent.
Notes: You're still in room 6, the Hydreigon is at the 5 o'clock position of the room near the number 6 on the map. The Sableye are swarming the bottom left and right sides of the entire room and the ceiling. You can fight the male Hydreigon or you can flee.
The Zweilous is its little sister and in a teething stage.coming out of the hall that leads down to the lair itself. If you choose to fight it can be modded by another or you can do it yourself. If you choose to flee the Sableye will immediately follow like flesh eating scarabs after you, wanting their show. Don't trip on your way out~
Ironically, the glitter of the Sableyes' eyes reminds Stellar of stars, her namesake. It's pretty in a twisted kind of way, even if Stellar could feel the malice and she held on to the boy's hand just a little tighter.
Maxwell is sobbing harder than ever, but Stellar gently cover her hand over his mouth, a gesture to make him understand that he must be quiet. The boy tried to slow down, hiccuping over some breaths, but he got his noise to a good, steady level.
There must be a way out of this.
Stellar can't help but look up at the Hydreigon defiantly, even as she could feel her legs trembling, feeling the terror. The blood is pounding n her head and she could feel the urge for battle slowly flood her, slowly overtaking her, slowly allowing the fear to get locked into the back of her mind.
But battle lust is dangerous, if not controlled right.
Plus...the boy's hand around hers tightened. There's a person to protect. It's not only herself.
Only one way, then.
Retreat.
Stellar looked to the side with the corner of her eyes, where her Pokemon were. Every movement must be slow, what's with the tense situation as the Hydreigon continued growling and the Sableyes continued chattering, edging everything on. Sam's Protect is still up, and this gives them some time to think. Some.
Stellar made the choice.
Chaos happened.
"Sam, Rock Slide!"
Her Archeops, miraculously with the Protect still up, call upon rocks, and the Rock Slide that covered their front pulled up a lot of dust, even as the Sableyes screeched and lunged forward.
That's the moment that Stellar needed.
Raven was pulled back to her pokeball, and the light she was providing was gone in a flash. This is the only disadvantage for Stellar, because Hydreigons are blind by nature and Sableyes are great in the dark.
Instead, Stellar released another Archeops, even as she and the boy begun running.
Her heart is pounding in her ears, far too loud. She's aware of everything now, everything that would kill her. Her battle lust is dying, turning into a different kind of adrenaline, the fleeing one. Behind them, Sam's rocks finally failed to hold them back, and the Sableye begun swarming and swarming, chasing after them. There's no sound of the Hydreigon, she suspected it might be -
FWOOOOM!
Stellar ducked, pulling the boy to do so, but even she knew it was too late. It was only thanks to Sam's great instincts and the ability to pull up another Protect that they were safe from the Hydreigon's goodbye gift, a Dragonbreath.
Sam's Protect broke after deflecting that Dragonbreath, though. The Archeops have used it more too many times in succession, and it grows weaker as result. Sam needs to recharge.
They are nearing the bottom of the waterfall, now. Stellar could hear the water.
"Plume, go, bring the boy!"
Her second Archeops tackled Maxwell, making him ride her, before boosting her power with an Agility, and leap into the air as soon as there's enough space. The Ancient Bird Pokemon flapped hard, managing to fly up. Stellar could hear the Golbat's screeches, and Plume's powerful Stone Edges, warning them away.
Stellar herself was about to hang on to Sam and fly.
And she tripped.
"Ooof!" the floor was a hard greeting, leaving scratches on her face and hands. Something fell from her pocket, and Sam let out an screech, as if to warn the Sableyes. Then there's an interesting spraying sound.
Stellar quickly scrambled up, noting that the repel that she had been carrying since earlier broke open, spraying the contents everywhere. The Sableyes slowed down their swarming because of that, and if one look closer, Stellar fancied seeing some of the Sableyes' bodies that were killed in the Dragonbreath earlier as well.
"Sam, Ancient Power, then Rock Slide!"
Her remaining Archeops is exhausted, that was obvious. Sam let out a screech again, though his voice is weakening, and threw Ancient Power at the Sableyes, the rocks crushing a few. The Rock Slide that followed stopped the Sableyes in their tracks for a while.
"Let's go!" Stellar felt bad for her Archeops, who's tired enough as it is. Sam had always been the one with lower stamina, comparing to Plume. The Archeops struggled, pulling Stellar and taking flight.
Stellar looked down, hoping that the waterfall would be a deterrent to the Sableyes. The sudden dip in flight gave her a shock, and her attention turn back to Sam. "Just a little bit more," she encouraged Sam.
There's another thing to worry now.
A they fly nearer upwards, the Bat Pokemon noticed them once more, and lunged in for and attack. Stellar had hoped for the best, but it would not be, it seems.
Could Sam -?
Another screeched, slightly higher than Sam's but similar sounding, and Stone Edges came flying, knocking the Bat Pokemon away. With that, Sam used his last ounce of energy and drop Stellar on the cliff's edge, where Maxwell and Plume is waiting.
"Thank you Sam, Plume," Stellar quickly returned the male Archeops into the pokeball, and in a flash, her Armaldo is out, looking around.
Stellar slumped down, catching her breath.
There was a moment of silence.
"A-are we safe now?" Maxwell's voice was hesitant, and a little cracked, as if he couldn't believe he made it out there safely. He's still on top of Plume, clinging on to the Ancient Bird Pokemon tightly, something that had protected him.
"I think so," Stellar took the risk and look downwards, over the cliffs. She couldn't see much, except that she knew there was the bottom of the waterfall and that the Sableyes might or might not follow them up.
Not, if they are lucky.
"Let's go," Stellar could feel herself exhausted. It felt like one of the many life endangering missions that she got flung to, in war, and that feeling was not very welcomed.
Slowly, she let her Armaldo lead the way, her Pokemon remembering the way they came from far better than she ever could, the group trudging their way to the exit.
