APPEARANCE
It is not easy to miss Nash. A foreigner, he and his people has distinctive clothing style and tradition which they refuse to abandon. Due to malnutrition in his childhood he is small compared to others, with slightly colored skin and thin limbs. He is physically fit however, and so his built can never be mistaken as weak. His hair is deep green, almost blue, with eye colors to match. On his left eye is a large scar due to his family’s boat’s engine exploding in his childhood, burning him in in the face. He has a love spot on his left lower lips.
On clothes he wears his people traditional garb, consisting mostly of long-sleeved robe with belly warmer tied with sash. Below it he usually wears white trouser ended in a big, curved shoes. On top of his head he wears a hair ornament. Copper due to his poor background, but still distinctive nonetheless.
PERSONALITY
Nash is a complex individual. Personality-wise he is not very hard to get along with. He carries himself in an agreeable manner and will often crack jokes to lift the mood. His customs may be seen as too polite, but he is casual enough to not tick most people off. He has a strong will and focus, and can be depended on to finish whichever project he has started.
But he also has a mean streak. As in, he is not above taking advantage of other people if it suits his intentions. “Survival” ranks highly in his view of life, and he views most things as the consequence of those who survives and those who do not. His rough childhood had not taught him to “Never push people against their will” But rather “be strong so that no one can push you against their will.” Despite this strong winning drive he is an honorable loser, as he sees himself losing as a sign that he is not strong enough to survive the battle. In this regard he can be said to have a very easy-going approach to life. Do not get on his bad side, however, as he can be a very evil avenger. He is not above breaking laws to get his point across.
On Pokemon Battles he regarded it as almost sacrosanct, viewing it as a battle for survival. Interrupting this sacred ritual or cheating in it can easily incurs his wrath. He is not above taunting his opponents in battle, but he has never mock those who had lost. Instead, he will be glad to offer what little advice he can give. In the same vein, he is not above asking those who has defeated him in an effort to make himself better. To his Pokemons he has a very economical approach. He gives his best to his Pokemons, but expected them to give their best in return. Despite this his Pokemons are fiercely loyal to him, as they know he will fiercely defend them in turn.
Nash is a rather poetic individual. It is the trait of his people, and he carries it proudly. He is interested in lores and ancient legends, especially concerning the creation of Earth. A frugal person, he holds certain contempt for opulence, and views excessive use of electricity as a waste –easily puts him at odds with the Electric-type Gym Leader.
Ambitions:
- He wants to expand the landmass to create more room for humans to live. The sight of crowded slums greatly dismays his heart, and he has dreams to proivde each person with land so bountiful they can sustain their own lives.
- He is fascinated by the secrets of the sea, influenced by his scholarly mentor. This is also another reason to raise landmass, to make searching lost relics easier. One day he will research them all!
- He wants to provide his parents with decent pension in their twilight years. They had suffered enough.
- After reading about the legends of Volcanion, he found himself fascinated by the Legendary Pokemon. A Pokemon who wields the blaze as easily as the waves must be interesting indeed.
HISTORY
The Water-Type Gym Leader might be the last person suspected to be part of Team Magma. But looking at Nash’s life, it was easy to know why.
Born in a small boat in the middle of the sea, Nash knew hardship before he knew words. His parents were members of “Boat-men”, people who were forced to abandon their homeland due to systemic oppression and had to roam the seas seeking for asylum. It was a dreadful life. The people had left their homeland illegally, and in the sea they were forced to sustain themselves with what limited foods they carried on their boats, sometimes going months without finding a ater source. Even if they touched land, there were no guarantee that any country would receive them all. Nash knew this all too well. His first memory was a Coast Guard stopping his family’s small boat, just a throwing distance from a land. His family’s supply had dwindled and there was little water left. They were in dire need of supplies. But no matter how his father and mother begged for their small children, the authority refused to allow them entry, instead forcing them to turn their boat back to the open sea.
“There is not enough land for you all,” The Coast Guard said. These words were forever etched in Nash’s memory.
One of his siblings died from malnutrition in their continuing journey. Later times, when Nash sat on the prow looking at the vast blue sea the Guard’s words echoed in his mind. He often thought, ‘why isn’t there be more land? This ocean is harsh and salty, unlivable, while lands give food and houses and living space for us humans. Why must there be so little land and so large a sea?’ These were the thoughts of the young boy.
Apart from his crowded family, Nash’s only other friends were the Oceanic Pokemon. These creatures called the sea their home, looking curiously at the land-dwelling humans. Nash liked them, and he also was blessed with a special friend. When Nash was born, a Pokemon Egg was floating near the family’s boat. It hatched a few days later into a Mudkip, and he became Nash’s best companion. Mudkip, despite being a water Pokemon, could not stand being in the middle of the sea. The two soon developed a mutual longing for land.
After countless hardships, his people finally found an area where they were allowed to stay. Bayonadaville was a seaside city with strong aquatic roots, and here Nash’s family was able to make a permanent house and be accepted as Civilians. Nash’s father found work as a fisherman, and not long after Nash and his able-bodied siblings joined him. They were far knowledgeable about the ways of the sea than the local inhabitants, and soon they were teaching the local fishermen about their knowledge and tricks. Nash’s people had found a land to live in.
As he grew up, he became close to the Previous Gym Leader: an old marine researcher. It all began when Nash found an ancient 1st century amphorae in one his dives in the sea. He contacted the authority, and was directed to the delighted marine researcher who promptly displayed the pottery it in his Marine Museum. The two developed a teacher-student relationship. Nash was also was introduced to Pokemon Battling, which he took in certain fervor. Some years later he became so proficient in handling Water Pokemon that he defeated his mentor in an official Battle. The old researcher gladly bequeathed his position to Nash and left to fulfill his long-cherished dream: a solo research trip around the world in a boat. Nash promised to take good care of the Gym and the Marine Museum too.
Years later, Nash heard about the existence of Team Magma, people who were rumored to be finding ways to expand the landmass. Excited, he discovered one of their hideouts and offered to join. A Water-type user in Team Magma was sure to be the butt of jokes, but he managed to worm his way through his sheer battling abilities and strong connections as a League Member. Once inside he carefully distanced himself from the Team’s shadier operations, but was known to eagerly accomplish missions if he believed it would further their aim. His rather flexible morals certainly helped build his reputation as a loyal member of Team Magma.
And so, a river called Nash flowed in the plains of time. Would he find his way to the ocean, or would he ended up vaporized in a pool of magma? Only the Water would tell.
OTHER INFORMATION
Nash is allergic to milk and chocolate. The poor boy!

The whole hideout was thrown into confusion. The grunts panicked, running around and busily telephoning their superiors. Their noisy voices clattering through the cavern. The officer-in-charge, face as red as his badge, kicked his door open and stampeded out of his room.
“What in blazes is happening here?!” he bellowed, grabbing one grunt by his colar. The grunt squirmed.
“S-sir, it is the Volna Gym Leader. Of Bayonadaville!! He is storming our doorstep!!”
The officer’s face became redder. “The Water-type Gym?”, he growled, “What the hell is he doing here? Did the Aqua send him?”
“N-no idea, sir,” answered the poor grunt. “He-he barged through earlier and asked if he could join us! Instead!”
“Nonsense!” the officer retorted, and he began walking to the lobby. “I’ll take care of this nautical freak myself.”
When he arrived at the front lobby, he was there, sure enough. The white-robed, teal-colored Gym Leader stood with his hand extended, giving directions to his Swampert. Facing him was another grunt who was certainly on the verge of defeat.
“Come on…” Nash said with dismay, as his Swampert’s Take Down sent his opponent flying. “I only want to join, and this is what I got? Can I at least have a speak with an officer first, please? Sheesh no wonder you only have such a few members.”
“I am the officer!” shouted the officer-in-chief, walking out to the open, “And what, by damned volcanoes are you doing here?”
Nash smiled. “Ah, you are the officer?” he said, tauting his hands in front in a form of salute, “I managed to get some info about your team’s activity, and I’d like to pledge my support. I have to say I agree with your intentions.” He gestured toward some Grunts who were holding their PokeBalls, obviously having been defeated. “And I have passed a test, I think.
“So, can I join?”
The officer stood in shock for a moment, but then held his stomach and laughed out loud. The Grunts laughed with him.
“Bwahahaha! The Water-type Gym Leader wants to join us?” he shouted, “What joke is this? Go back to your boat, sea keg, and let us do our work!”
But to everyone’s surprise, the youth laughed with the officer, “Yes, yes, I understand the circumstance. Funny isn’t it?” he chuckled, “But, well, I’ve already been here right now. So can I still join?”
“Alright…alright,” the officer panted, drying his eyes, “But, boy, you have to prove your mettle first! Against me, now!”
A secret smile spread on Nash lips. Next to him his Swampert pounded the ground, eager to go. Five minutes later, an urgent communication was sent to the Magma Leader, asking his directions on a new, promising member.
