She'd risen at the crack of dawn to wash her face and brush her teeth. Her Houndour was sleeping faithfully at the foot of her bed, like usual. It was a habit she'd started when Riley was too young to realize she wasn't quite a pet. Now she didn't really have the heart to discourage her, even if that meant she couldn't stretch out quite as much as she wanted to. She didn't sleep much anymore, and not for lack of trying. It was hard to sleep when you had dreams of screeching tires and blood everywhere and dying, always dying. Most people's dreams ended before they died. Riley's didn't. She had an idea for why that might be, but thinking about it made her feel... slimy.
After she'd run a comb through her tangled hair, she flopped down on the only piece of furniture in what sort of qualified as the living room. It had been incredibly cheap, and as such, it was incredibly uncomfortable. Despite this she took a moment to doze off for another ten minutes before finally stumbling off to shower. Once that was done, breakfast became a stale bagel and some cream cheese. She didn't have the heart to throw out the rest of the bagels, even though they'd probably acquire mold over the course of that day.
Flash City was a horrible place to live when you had a hangover. She didn't have a hangover, but the effect was still felt when she stepped outside, two Pokeballs attached to her belt in case she ran into any trouble. Jones hadn't wanted to be awoken so early, but she'd slept much easier than Riley, so her trainer basically told her to just suck it up.
She wasn't really sure what she was doing up so early either. She knew she wasn't going to get any more sleep, so it was mostly just something to do. It was stupid, considering how she might run into you-know-who while out and about, but she allowed herself more stupid things than usual lately. It was a small amount of comfort, but comfort it was.
She wandered around until about 8 am, stopping then to take a nap on a bench somewhere. It only lasted for about twenty minutes before someone shooed her off, likely assuming she was homeless. She could really use some coffee, but she barely had enough money to make the rent for that month. Still, she was tired enough that she found herself stopping outside a local coffee shop and just staring in longingly. "Goddamn..." she muttered under her breath. "Should just give it up and get a soda." That had plenty of caffeine in it, at least. The thought didn't help at all. She just stared in, awkwardly turning away whenever someone moved to meet her eyes.

Passive Living?
Today was just another day in the life of the great city that is Flash City. Sven was focused on a big day for himself, because he will be speaking with a producer about a role in a movie. It was another small role, but he would be given some face time for his future. He wanted to make it big into the world, but it's whatever gets him noticed in his line of work.
Sven woke up around six in the morning to flat iron out his hair for the role of some gangster, straight hair, cold eyes, bandages on his face and leather jacket that screamed bad boy. It was a different look for himself, but he was going to do it for his next job. He approached a coffee shop and entered within looking for the crew members, finding them in the corner with a smug on there faces.
It was about an hour later, when they we were done with the business. They brought out the paper work, it was nearing eight at his point when they finished up with the payment plan. It was great to be casted again in another role, putting a step into his beat. When he came across someone looking into the shop, he could feel her aura it spoke to him like a broken record for some odd reason. Shaking off that disturbing feeling, Sven purchased a mocha latte and walked out the door of the shop. Standing there looking at the girl with a pondering expression, without saying a word to her.

MY SONGS KNOW WHAT YOU DID IN THE DARK
SO LIGHT 'EM UP UP UP I'M ON FIRE
"Wake up call." There was a loud knocking at the door of Adrian's room. The young man groaned and rolled over, not bothering to even open his eyes. Did he order a wake up call? He couldn't remember, and sleep still felt like a very tempting option at the moment. "Tn mur mi-uts" Adrian mumbled incoherently with his face half buried in his pillow.
Beside him, his Ralts lifted his head, blinking away sleep. He only rolled his eyes as his trainer ignored the wake-up call he himself had asked for. "Waaaake up Adrian." Caspian said in a sing-song voice as he reached over and poked the back of his trainer's head. Adrian however just twitched slightly, showing no sign of waking. Far from discouraged though, the Ralts stood up, climbed up on Adrian's back, and jumped. "Come on! Wake up! We're supposed to be heading out early right?"
Adrian suddenly jolted awake, sending Caspian rolling off him. "Oh that's right." Adrian said, suddenly remembering why he did need to get up. He scrambled off the bed, rushing to get changed into his everyday clothes and go through his morning routine, while Caspian simply waited, guarding his Trainer's belongings and things while he watched him scramble about.
After a short while, Adrian was dressed in his usual ruffled looking set of black pants and jacket over a white T, groomed and carrying his acoustic guitar slung behind his back. Kicking the rest of his things under the bed, and scooping up Caspian, he bolted out the door and headed straight onto the streets to begin a fresh new day.
It couldn't have been much more past eight o'clock as he set out onto the streets. The sun was up, but the lights of the city flashed in all directions. It was the usual in this entertainment fueled city, so much that the entire city was named for it, or at least it was aptly named. Still, even for as long as he had been staying here, he still couldn't get used to it all.
Pushing through the morning crowds, Adrian made his way towards the nearest coffee shop. He had work later this afternoon, and he wanted to get some playing time in before that. First though, he was going to need some sort of pick-me-up if he hoped to stay awake long enough to make it past noon. Approaching it though, he noticed a girl staring longingly into the window. "How much is that puppy in the window? Oh wait, you're outside of it." Adrian chuckled, shooting the girl a friendly smile. "Let me guess, short for your morning coffee? Come on in, I'll buy." Adrian offered, not even noticing the other boy staring at the girl.

It didn't take her long to notice someone was watching her. She turned, meeting the stare of a boy about her height. She raised an eyebrow, giving him a hard look. Take a picture, it'll last longer. She'd been about to retort when someone else spoke up, startling her. "How much is that puppy in the window? Oh, wait, you're outside of it." The newcomer was more clearly an adult, though he and Staring Boy shared the same color hair. She shoved her hands in her pockets, embarrassed to have been caught not by one, but two people. "Let me guess, short for your morning coffee? Come on in, I'll buy." She withdrew a hand from her pocket, scratching around a scar on her face, avoiding the shiny new skin that had grown after her accident. She was clearly debating internally with herself, trying to decide whether she'd sunk low enough to accept coffee from a stranger, when she begrudgingly accepted. "Alright. Fine." She sagged.
This certainly wasn't what she'd imagined herself doing at 23 years of age. She'd never thought she'd have a cushy lifestyle, but this was just ridiculous. The universe would never run out of ways to screw her over. She'd learned to accept it by now, at least. But before she even entered the shop, she once again made eye contact with Sven. "And you? What's your problem with me? You're about a foot too short and twenty years too young for me to owe you money." Her father had a few outstanding debts, and of course she was expected to pay them off eventually.
You never seen a bum before? She directed the thought at him knowing it was petty. She wasn't a bum anymore, even if her apartment wasn't much better than a homeless shelter. It still burned that she had ever been that unable to take care of herself, and it was difficult to fight down the urge to take it out on other people. She did it, though, trying to keep the anger from welling up. Didn't mean she had to be friendly, though.
