Aside from traversing the shorter routes between neighboring cities, Emyr didn't tend to travel by foot all too much. It could be easily tiring on his body (not the most athletic sort and down one foot) and, well, why spend hours cultivating a colony of blisters when there were buses and trains? The first, self-assigned mission that had sprung to the forefront of the male's mind when he'd set off on his journey was to visit every major city he could, so some of the simple benefits of travel had been lost on him. He went from point A to B to C without caring much about the windy road between. Which was all well and good when it came to ticking off those boxes for stepping foot in each city, but it wasn't very trainerly of him. So, on his way up to where Shui city lay nestled at the foot of the mountain, Emyr had decided to take some time for exploring. There were grasslands, forests, and lakes all sitting along the path his feet... or, foot, walked, but Wattz in particular had seemed enthralled with the idea of poking around in a cave whose mouth yawned from the side of a rocky crag. The land's elevation and terrain was varying more wildly now as the traveling party neared the mountain, and Emyr's apprehensive gaze was drawn upwards to regard the cliff once they passed into its shadow en route to the cave. "Xio xio!" The Shinx began chirruping in rapid succession, bouncing in place and bowing forwards slightly as his flat-tipped tail waved about enthusiastically. Wattz's yellowed eyes were shining, practically sparking as his pelt had a tendency to do when agitated, and Emyr internalized a low groan as he just knew that there would be no arguing. Damn him for picking partners who were cute. Too persuasive for their own good. "Alright... I guess we'll check it out." The trainer agreed with one hand coming up to scratch anxiously at the nape of his neck and icy blue eyes shifting to peer into the gloom ahead. Wattz's enthusiasm seemed to have been infectious enough as to encroach on Lux, the Pichu now bouncing about nearly as energetically with cheeks crackling a few stray strands of electricity. Once Emyr had finished his unsure lingering (just stalling for time, really), the trio crossed out of the open air and into a shadowed darkness enclosed by stone. Drip, drip, drip. Went something back further in the cave, watery droplets rippling an echo to Emyr's ears, and the dark haired teen reached out one hand to feel along the right wall. His fingertips met chilled rock with a light sheen of wetness that may have spoken of underground springs or reservoirs and he barely opened his mouth to request some help from his Pokemon when both obliged, charging their bodies with enough voltage to emit a slight, yellow glow among the darkness. The cave (now more resembling a tunnel) wasn't narrow, though it wasn't particularly spacious, either, and continued straight into the cliff before a slight, downward pitch became noticeable enough. At certain points there was the distant cry of a Pokemon or more liquid dribbling, but otherwise the exploration started off uneventful. Lux and Wattz seemed content enough to stare all about the space, sometimes sniffing and making sharp noises only to hear it echo back, while Emyr settled into an only mildly anxious equilibrium. |
