APPEARANCE
Like most raised in high society, Adalynn May has impeccable looks and flawless grace. Her body is lithe and slender, merely 5’2” in height. Like a little porcelain doll, Lynn’s skin is pale from lack of exposure to sun and has delicate, fragile-looking limbs. Her fingers are long and slender from years of playing intruments. Lynn’s sheltered life has led to her body’s fragility. Despite her diminutive appearance, Lynn isn’t one easily cast to the side of one’s mind once you meet her. Her flawless poise, molded with years of practice in high heels and exercises, is ever present in her royal bearing and straightened posture. She might be small physically, but Lynn has a presence that will fill the room and command attention.
Lynn pays attention to her looks, as any young maiden does. She knows how enrapturing she can be, and never hesitates to flaunt it, using fancy outfits to flaunt her natural beauty. These fancy outfits are also used to hide something as well, however: the one physical discrepancy on Lynn’s otherwise perfect body. Obtained in an accident, a large scar trails from her kneecap along her lower left leg. At the time of the incident, it was an angry red mark. Through magic and time, however, it has eventually faded to the palest form of a pink that would take the most observant person to distinguish.
Part of this is due to the fact that Lynn has other distracting factors. First among these is her hair. It’s a pure, golden blonde that shines during one of its rare exposures to sunlight. Reaching down to chest level, Lynn used to grow her hair past her waist before deciding it was too much trouble and cutting it off. Her blonde locks are always flawlessly arranged and are naturally wavy, but not so much that they are impossible to manage. Out in the wilderness, however, Lynn will find that managing hair for an hour every morning isn’t exactly a priority, so it’ll usually be tossed into a careless braid.
PERSONALITY
Adalynn May’s has impeccably good manners. Always greeting those she meets with a “Ma’am” or a “Sir” and a bright, cheerful smile, Lynn is an instantly liked woman with a charisma that never fails to attract others. She’s the epitome of a perfect lady. That isn’t to say, however, that she never gets slightly out of hand. With her parents’ wealth, Lynn is a somewhat spoiled child, and can sometimes act accordingly, throwing tantrums when she doesn’t get her way. Eventually, with time, Lynn has learned to hold her temper and has went for more charm than anger when trying to get her way, even flirtation if the occasion calls. Either way, Lynn is used to getting her way and can be a little foul-tempered when things don’t work out like they’re supposed to. She enjoys order and normalcy to her day.
However, even Lynn tires of order and normalcy, hence why she decided to leave her family in the first place. Like a member of any wealthy family, Lynn lives in a life of tranquility and order. Not liking boredom, Lynn takes as many classes as she can, her parents often providing tutors. She first started these informal ‘classes’ when she was three from a nanny she had, learning how to play the piano and later on the violin. After the nanny’s death, Lynn asked for yet another teacher. Since then, she has enjoyed learning and delves into it whenever possible. Because of this, Lynn has had many years with the highest degree of education available. These tutors substituted for a regular school, and Lynn stayed home most of the time. However book-smart she is, Lynn isn’t exactly the epitome of street-smart. She’s too trusting for her own good and gets awkward around people she associates with, especially strangers. Unless she has a set goal in mind when talking to someone, Lynn is usually reduced to a stuttering mess despite her advanced knowledge through books.
Ambitions: All Lynn really wants is to become successful without her parents' influence. She's looking to become a musician if working with Pokemon doesn't work out, but Pokemon is where her heart really lies. One day, she wants to be able to be a well known name throughout the world.
HISTORY
Adalynn May was born during the spring, when new life usually blooms. A quiet child, Lynn was often the center of attention amongst the nobles her parents usually associated with. As a child, Lynn was the first born in her family. Although her parents sometimes disapproved of her not having an older sibling to protect her, Lynn was found to be just fine on her own. This was due to the fact that she was a bit of a scaredy-cat and enjoyed the reserved privacy of her own room. Her first three years, Lynn merely slept and played around by herself, not taking any interest in the people of the mansion nor the childhood friends she could have gained.
When Lynn was three and a half, the May family decided to force some interaction to her. It came in the form of a nanny. Mrs. Annabeth Shaara was a kind old lady who had arrived at Harper Region when she was young as a performance major. Skilled in both the piano and the violin, Shaara immediately began to teach the young Lynn, who was found to be prodigious in both subjects. The May’s plan backfired, and Lynn spent more and more time in her room. Deciding to use Lynn’s love of learning to her advantage, Mrs. May hired a math tutor for her when she was four. Lynn’s next year was full of bliss, associating with few people in the parties her parents often hosted and sneaking off to her room to continue learning.
When Lynn turned five, Shaara suddenly took ill and died a week after from pneumonia. Lynn was obviously saddened by this and even more so when her parents decided to put her instrumental education to a halt. They instead hired tutors in other subjects: history, geography, painting, writing, the likes. While Lynn was found to excel in everything they threw at her, she often threw tantrums to try and get her musical lessons continued. The May family finally agreed, mainly because Mrs. May had taken with another child and they didn’t think the stress was good for her. With a new baby to take care of, Lynn became more secluded than ever. Whenever she finished her lessons early, she would run off into the forests to spend time by herself.
After the baby was born, however, Lynn became entranced by her little brother and started spending more and more time with him. The little six-year-old girl and her newborn brother were inseparable, almost to the point where Lynn started neglecting her studies. She managed to convince her parents to allow her to stay home instead of going to a school. Her parents agreed, thinking that with her intelligence Lynn would only be ostracized from the rest of the kids her age. Lynn lived a blissful life until she was seven, taking lessons, sneaking off into the woods, and playing with her brother. Her little brother, Christopher May, died in freak accident. The May family had decided to take a short vacation, a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Both of the May parents became wealthy through work rather than inheritance. Starting out poor, the two had found work through a training business in a large city. The two rarely had time to attend to their children, but sometimes managed a short vacation. This break was meant to last a month. A week after traveling, their wagon crashed, resulting in fatal injuries for Christopher and a hideous scar for Lynn. The two parents immediately rushed their children back to the city, but it was too late for Christopher. While Lynn arrived just in time to avoid amputation of her leg, she became more solitary than ever after the incident.
For three years, until she was eleven, Lynn threw herself into her studies to avoid thinking about the accident. She locked herself inside her room and only came out for meals, and not that frequently either. Her worried parents finally forced her out of her room for her eleventh birthday, when they asked a friend to teach her self-defense and how to train with Pokemon. Lynn was coaxed out of her shell and worked with Anthony and a Pokemon he was training: a Purrloin. Lynn became more and more carefree as she trained with them and eventually decided that she wanted to work with Pokemon no matter what. At fourteen years old, her parents also decided that she had to enroll in a school for four final years of education.
Associating with others was extremely hard for Lynn. The other teens often teased her, more out of jealousy than anything, that she only ever got anywhere because of her parents. Her intelligence was another sore point. While her teachers often praised her for how well-spoken she was, they themselves harbored a grudge against Lynn for just how smart she was and her habit of correcting the teachers whenever something was wrong. Like her parents had suspected ten years ago, Lynn was ostracized in an environment with others. As soon as she graduated, Lynn vowed to forge her own path for herself, devout of her parents’ influence. So on her eighteenth birthday, Lynn gathered some companions and fled to Shui City to strike out on her own.
OTHER INFORMATION
Nothing with Lynn; she's a pretty normal character.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
RP Sample: The night was completely quiet. Earlier, there had been a ball in honor of Adalynn May’s eighteenth birthday, but the day-long party had been cut short at 9 PM at Lynn’s insistence. In her parents’ mansion, her peers were on their best behavior, behaving as if they had been best of friends at school, when they had never spoken a kind word to her. Still, the day was over. She was an adult now; she could make her own choices. Unless, of course, the rumors were true and her parents had actually arranged a marriage for her.
No matter, she wasn’t sticking around long enough to find out if that rumor was true or not. Lynn knew they had her best interests at heart, wanted someone to be able to protect her. But they just didn’t understand. Lynn knew that, they had loved the company of her classmates and their parents at her own party, a lot more than she had. They were easily deceived. Then again, Lynn had been too. Four years, and she still fell for their false compliments and smiles.
The mansion was quiet now, however, and Lynn didn't plan on ever seeing any of them again. Dressed in plain trousers, boots, and a simple shirt, Lynn had a bag of gold and food in her backpack and a bladed wooden staff in her hand, compliments of Anthony from training. She felt a twinge of guilt as she thought about the Order. Lynn had considered them, of course, but if she wanted to distance herself from her old life, she had to cut all remaining ties. There was just one more thing she needed.
Quietly, Lynn stalked along the halls of the mansion. Years of living in it, and she still didn't know her way around everywhere. Then again, she had spent the majority of those years in her room. No time for reminiscing, she quietly scolded herself, continuing down the stairs. Quietly, she withdrew her keys, peeking out the window. Thankfully she had made it in the middle of one of the guards' shifts. Everyone in the May mansion knew that the guards rarely, if ever, worked their full shifts, falling asleep in the middle but waking up should anything disturb them. It was something Lynn was always annoyed about, but outsiders didn't try and break in anyways so she supposed it was alright. Plus, it worked out to her advantage this time. Lynn quietly placed the key near the door so it was in plain sight for her parents, along with a short letter reassuring them that she would be okay.
With that done, Lynn quietly opened and closed the back door, making her way to a clearing she had often trained in. As soon as she was out in the woods, Lynn turned to look at the mansion one more time. She’d never see it again. The blonde girl quietly wiped away a tear before stealing away into the forest, on her way to Shui City.
