The ruins Mao used as his hunting grounds for these odd gems was practically his home away from home now. A home that was now almost entirely flooded by the ravaging storms that had been attacking Nue, storms he believed were an omen for things to come...only a week ago had he and Miguel truly formed the "force" the world would come to know as Team Renaissance. He stood atop his second home, looking out into the eye of the storm, clouds curling around a focal point, as if preparing for the tornado that was bound to come, leaving Mao pressed for time as he turned to enter the ruins once more, her growling Dragonite, Karlek, following behind.
"Tonight we must move swiftly. The faster we find something to make this trip worth the journey, the better. Karlek?" The dragon blinked as he was addressed by his true name, a confusion Mao swiftly picked up on. "I may wear my mask but we are alone. Your code name is of no use right now. Regardless. You will be accompanying me and our Froakie today. he showed skill in his last trip into the depths of these ruins, and I hope today he may show even further skill, since he has been training under Doma."
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found RARE BONE! A bone that is extremely valuable for Pokémon archeology. It can be sold for a high price to shops.
Reaching the depths of the ruins, Mao let out a sigh as the old throne he used to sit on was practically sunken, destroyed pillars acting like stepping stones in the new level of water that presented itself. Mao had to wonder if it was even worth him coming along this time, seeing as he would have to stand upon his pokemon's back a majority of the time. A look between himself and the dragon told him that staying back was an option they'd both prefer. "Fine. But behave with him. We need him trained and strong as soon as possible."
With that, Mao unleashed one of the pokeballs on his bed, his ninja froakie saluting him as he arrived in a red flesh, looking out at the water and admiring the terrain advantage he had. Before Karlek could follow him into the drink, Mao pressed the back of his hand into his chest to halt his advance. "He battles. You search." With a clearly annoyed growl, Karlek pushed past his arm, sinking into the drink and using his skills as an ex dragonair to swim, letting the Froakie search out a fight.
Before long, the frog found himself much deeper in the ruins, a small island now present amongst the water, with a somewhat irritated absol poking at the water surrounding him. Noticing his chance, the froakie tossed a full spread of toxic spikes upon the small island, watching with a smile as the absol would notice the sound, turn, and immediately become a victim of the Froakie's little trap before he sank back into the water, narrowly avoiding an angry attack from the absol, it's razor winds slashing at the water and nearly cutting the submerged froakie. Circling the island, the froakie leaped out of the water, giving a cocky call to the absol before firing a water pulse right in his face, a "splosh" signalling his return to the water as the absol cried out, irritated by his now wet fur and trying to push the water off of his face somehow, glaring around with bloodshot eyes from the rocky water of the ruins irritating them, growling and hissing as a challenge for the froakie to show himself.
Little did he know, the froakie was right behind him.
Using the absol's anger to his advantage, the froakie had silently crept onto the island behind him, making almost no sound as he crept up behind the dark type, his camouflage providing him protecting even as the absol spun around in an attempt to find the water type. His hands clasped together, he would wait until the absol seemed as if it was about to calm, before unleashing another waterpulse into it's stomache, this one launching the dark type into the water. A terrain it was clear he hated, and for good reason too, as he clearly struggled to swim, leaving the froakie to just chuckle at the sight of the mighty omen of disaster as he flailed and tried desperately to kick for land.
Just as it seemed her would make it, and the froakie was ready to retaliate with another water pulse, he was dragged beneatht he water's surface in an instant, the waves sloshing violently until the absol was tossed ashore, an angry, large, black dragon following behind, glaring down at the far smaller Froakie. But, the cocky bastard that he was, the froakie simply waved him off, signalling for him to return the absol to their master before hopping into the water.
Boy did Karlek despise his team mates...with a low growl ever present, he would grab the absol, and swim it back towards the trainer of the two pokemon.
With Karlek taking back the absol, Ken was thankful to have some freedom swimming by himself, leaping up onto another small island that had formed in the flooding ruins to get a better look at the dry walls that remained, seeing as it was more likely any megastones would be embedded in the cracks of the "non-drowned" portions of the ruins. All the gemstones littering the ruin floor had likely been swept deeper within afterall.
"Woooo...~"
Snapping to attention at the sound of another pokemon's cry, Ken swiftly spun around, keeping his eyes out for whatever had called out to him, soon enough, his eyes turned to the only option that remained, directly above. A hanging bat pokemon was smiling down at him. No eyes, a furry blue body, and zubat like wings. A woobat, if he was not mistaken. He was sure he had encountered one on a previous trip, but whatever the case may be, he was certainly not about to let his guard down. Gesturing for it to take it's strike, the Woobat flew down on the intruder to it's home, aiming to strike the Froakie with a simple heartstamp. Seeing how his camouflage was useless, having already been spotted, and the flying nature of the Woobat made it hard for him to get it in his toxic spikes, Ken knew exactly what move to use. A move that would make both of his other options viable in an instant. Smokescreen.
A black orb dropping from his mouth, the island he stood on was suddenly enveloped in a thick black fog, the woobat flying true, hoping he could catch the Froakie before it moved most likely, but rather than meeting the fleshy body of the other pokemon with her nose, she felt the cold sting of the toxic spikes, having flown straight into the ground, screeching with pain as she turned to growl and screech at the pokemon who had tricked it so, only to find nothing. Camouflaged to the colour of his environment, Ken had the element of surprise, a water pulse emerging from seemingly nowhere caught the Woobat's attention, meeting the attack with her own air slash to cut the pulse in two, the broken water wetting the island as she unleashed a volley of air slashes on the source of the attack, frantic and hoping just one of them met some sort of target, leaving her breathing heavy as she slowly flew over to see if she could find the froakie in the resulting rubble, having not heard it's cry during her attack.
A big mistake.
With the Woobat worn out from it's own attacks, and now flying over the water, Ken released his sticky grip on the ceiling of the ruins, landing on the woobat and catching it in a weak moment, trying his best to restrict it's ability to fly as he gripped hard on the pokemon's wings, slowly dragging it into the water, the most effective way to deal with a non-water type in his opinion. Before long the struggling Woobat released a few small bubbles that signified what little air remained in his lungs, and with the merciless Froakie, both fell to the bottom of the flooded ruins, Ken leaving his victim without a second thought to swim deeper into the halls of this place, searching for the illusive mega stones his trainer wanted.
With a pokemon having brought back to him to catch, Mao had to admit he liked how efficient his team could be. Perhaps they were not able to find the true reason behind their trip out here today, but they were certainly finding plenty of pokemon to bring back to HQ, powerful ones too at that. Still, they did have a task here today, and it was only right that Mao speed that process up, unleashing his Beldum in a flash of red.
"You don't need to breathe, correct?" The Beldum nodded quickly. "Good. Be a good knight and search the water for the megastones we tend to find here won't you? They look somewhat like this." Pinching the gem embedded into his ascot, the Keystone, the Beldum swiftly got the idea and dove into the water in search of the gem he had been tasked with finding.
Not long into his trip underwater, the Beldum spotted a rather odd, teary pokemon at the bottom of the forming lake. Curious as to what could make such a seemingly innocent creature cry, he grew closer, moving right up behind her and giving out a small mechanical noise to catch her attention, only for it to be amplified into a horrific sound by the surrounding water, and resulting in the scared azurill whipping around and slapping the beldum with her rather large tail. As soft as that sphere on the end was, it still backed one hell of a punch, and the Beldum only looked back to the Azurill with an angry glare, now with the full intention of giving it a damn reason to fear him. Ramming forward, he pushed hard through the water, issuing a take down on the much softer and more delicate pokemon, slamming it into a nearby submerged wall and "smiling" to himself as his single eye showed some cocky confidence in what he had managed to do.
Whatever had upset the azurill originally however was now just a distant memory. With an actual threat infront of her she was going to fight. The beldum came in for yet another take down, only to screech to a halt as the Azurill bounced up and out of the water, forcing the beludum to levitate on his back to get a good view at where it had gone, the water type coming back down hard and slamming into his torso, forcing him down into the floor, the density of the water seemingly not even enough to halt the Azurill's strike, leaving the beldum groaning slightly before he made his move to retaliate, spinning his body around and issuing a take down before the azurill could meet the ground and move again, pinning the other pokemon under his weight with an angry glare, and actually covering it's mouth. Much like the froakie before him, the beldum's aim was to choke out his opponent, and though the lungs on the water type made it hard, eventually, it went down like the rest, bubbles escaping it as it seemed to faint, and leaving the beldum to take it back to his trainer for capture.
With no gem in sight, the beldum had to wonder if any of the gems had remained in these ruins after it was flooded, thanking arceus on high he didn't need to breathe as he delved deeper into the halls of the water logged ruins, hoping he might find one that had been washed away and be able to return to his master with a proud look in his eye.
With the ruins seeming to go on forever, it was a fair while before the Beldum encountered another pokemon, an Inkay floating about, a shiny sphere in it's beak. Not just any shiny sphere, the Beldum recognized it as one of the gems he was supposed to be looking for! With speedy movements, he was quick to ram straight into the Inkay, striking it into a nearby wall with his take down and turning to grab the gem he had dropped. Get in, get out, there was no reason to be sticking around now that he had what he was looking for, scooping it up with the tiny talons at the base of his body and ready to float on home, the sound of the water distorting behind him being his only sign of warning that he was being attacked, narrowly avoiding a superpower strike from the now angered Inkay. Still, the Beldum had no reason to stay and fight, and was quick to turn the other cheek, swimming towards the entrance of the ruins and back to his trainer as the inkay gave chase.
Rushing away as fast as he could, the Beldum had to keep an ear out for anything coming up behind him, narrowly avoiding yet another superpower attack, trying to float through the water towards the surface as it finally came into view, hoping he might get some room in the air. Sadly, another superpower struck hard. He kept a strong grip on his gem but this time it was him getting thrown into the wall, letting out a staticy groan as his eye rolled in it's socket, dizzily staring up at the Inkay that had come to get revenge...but his eye didn't focus on that. It focused on the ceiling above, the unstable structure. Following cracks in the ruins with a frantic eye he realized they now connected to the crack he had made by being thrown into the wall. If he could grin, he would, as with a hard take down to the wall behind him, the ruins began to shake, and before the Inkay knew it, he was squished beneath some fallen rubble from the ceiling, leaving a safe and happy Beldum to return this gem to his trainer.
