Ichiro was away from Shui again. This time his goal was to add a few new Pokemon to his team. He held a rented rod and had 6 Pokeballs on hand. He'd spent the night in Bayonadaville, which was typically where he went to train up Hercules the Magikarp. Today, instead of training, he would be fishing. He'd taken a boat out onto the open ocean and cast his line. He had his Mareep, Lucy, at the ready. Keiko the Ralts was there as well- she knew Magic Leaf, which was super-effective against most water types.
Looking out onto the open waters, Ichiro surveyed the ripples and crests of the surface. The sea was a deep blue; it was almost hypnotic, beautifully mysterious. It would be pretty interesting day for some wild Pokemon battles. Ichiro only hoped nothing particularly large would hop into his boat and cause him to sink. He steeled himself for that possibility. He was a good swimmer, but he had rowed for about a half hour and would likely run out of endurance before reaching the shore.
Bored, Ichiro played with his brown hair- he had never gone fishing before. He was uncertain of the outcome, but he did know that he would walk away with another Pokemon in his team today.

Ichiro sat, bored, fishing rod in hand, until he saw sparks of light. In the Pokemon world, this was relatively common. After all, there were plenty of electric-type Pokemon capable of producing these sparks. However, what threw him off about said sparks was the fact that they were coming from beneath the waters.
He leaned over the edge of the skiff and focused his eyes upon the mass of lights underneath the water. They danced about, getting closer and closer to the surface. All of a sudden, a small fish-like Pokemon with two orbs of light and pupils in the shapes of plus signs leapt from the water, almost brushing Ichi's face. Following it, several more began to jump, revealing themselves in a beautiful fashion. These were Chinchou; they were Electric and Water-type. Three landed in the boat; using their little pectoral fins, they propped themselves up and started flopping about. Utilizing knowledge he'd gained from reading an encyclopedia on Water-type Pokemon, he remembered that the Chinchou could potentially possess an ability which made them immune to lightning-based attacks, which set them apart from most other Water-types . Ichiro knew that Lucy, his Mareep would likely not be of much help here; he sent out Keiko, his Ralts instead.
Alright, Keiko! The goal here is to get those three little fishies to faint! Do you think you can do that for me?
Keiko looked up at Ichiro and smiled, as if reaffirming that she could do it.
Alright! Use Calm Mind!
Keiko focused her energy intensely; her body began to glow, increasing her special attack and special defense stats. As the glow faded, she let out a happy little cry, as if proud of herself. One of the Chinchous shot a little spurt of water at Keiko; she was hit by it, but due to the defensive boost her move had caused, took little damage.
Alright, Keiko! Use Magical Leaf on each of those fish!
The Ralts conjured up a swirling beam of leaves and green energy, which flew towards the three little fish. The beam made contact; it was super effective! The fish were clinging to consciousness; however, Ichiro had to be completely certain that they had fainted before he attempted to catch them.
Aw; maybe one more time!
Keiko focused her energy again and conjured another beam of leaves and green energy, which she projected towards the group of Chinchous. When the energy dissipated, the little fish had stopped moving about; they were completely static, and had fainted. (that was not a pun)
Ichiro quickly grabbed three Pokeballs and flung them at the little fish. They trapped the Pokemon, and Ichiro was about to make sure the Chinchous did not escape, when the crash of a violent disturbance in the water filled the air.
From the blue seas, a much larger fish leapt from the waters- the evolved form of Chinchou, a Lanturn. It was almost as big as Ichiro; it would certainly be hard to hit, and it likely would not fit on the small skiff. He knew this was a job for his little Keiko; however, a certain Hercules the Magikarp had been missing out on a lot of action. The water was his home, after all.
Keiko, see that big Lanturn over there? We're gonna take him down and catch him too, and then he can be your new friend!
Keiko nodded, excited.
Alright, but first you'll need to help me out some! Use Calm Mind again!
Once again, Keiko's body emanated a brilliant aura. When it faded, she had an eager expression on her face.
Excellent! Alright, Keiko! Use Magical Leaf on that Lanturn!
The green leaf and energy beam shot towards the Lanturn, right as it leapt into the air. The big fish was hit; it was another super-effective strike, certain to deal a rather exceptional amount of damage, given two boosts to special attack that Keiko had inflicted upon herself by using Calm Mind. The Lanturn went down, into the water. However, Ichiro knew it was not over just yet. It was then that he sent out his own fish to finish off the big one. He sent the Magikarp out of its ball; it flopped on the deck of the boat.
Alright, Hercules... This is your moment! I need you to follow that Lanturn underwater and use Tackle on him until he faints! Can you do that?
Hercules the Magikarp could not nod; after all, he was a fish and he had no neck; however, a look of utmost determination crossed his face. He was not going to let Ichiro down.
Once Ichi tossed Hercules into the water, he immediately found the Lanturn; it was swimming in slow circles under the boat, injured. Hercules knew it was the time to strike- he swam away from the Lanturn so he could gain momentum for his charge, and then made sure he was facing the behind of the electrical fish. Hercules then charged at full speed, reaching a velocity almost unheard of from any sort of Magikarp. His determination to make Ichiro proud helped spur him on. He rammed into the back side of the Lanturn, knocking him away from the boat; this made the wild Pokemon angry. It shot a beam of bubbles from its mouth towards Hercules. He was hit by the bubbles, but alas- they were water bubbles, and thus, not very effective. Hercules charged once more, ramming the Lanturn in the gut this time. It was weakened before, but the Magikarp had its sights set on taking the fish out and sending it floating, fainted, to the surface.
Ichiro, who was watching from the surface, cheered Hercules on. He shouted unnecessarily loud encouragement.
That's the way, buddy! You're doing it! You're doing amazing! Keep it up!
Hercules could hear Ichiro from under the water. The corners of his little fish lips formed a smile, and a look of raw determination crossed his little fish face. Lanturn shot yet another beam of bubbles this time; Hercules dodged it by swimming underneath the offending projectiles, and accelerating into the Lanturn's underbelly, sending it upwards. It flew a few feet out of the water, but fell back in. Hercules knew it was running out of juice; one final tackle attack would end it. He swam downwards, so he was about 20 diagonal meters from the Lanturn. Then, mustering all the strength and speed and will to please his trainer that his little Magikarp body could hold, he charged up towards the Lanturn, smacking it at a 45 degree angle; it flew into the air and into Ichiro's boat, unconscious. Quickly, Ichiro threw an Ultra Ball at the Lanturn, crossing his fingers and hoping for a catch. Hercules leapt back into the boat, and Ichiro picked him up. He hugged the fish.
Oh, Hercules... I'm so proud of you! You're a hero!
He looked back to the balls to see if they had succeeded in capturing the Pokemon. After several boosted, super-effective hits and assault from an angry Magikarp, he was almost certain the catches would succeed.

Ichiro had succeeded in catching the Lanturn, but the Chinchou had burst from the balls he had thrown! They were flopping about again. One of them even leapt out of the boat, leaving two remaining. Keiko would have to go back to work. She had not gone back to her own ball yet, so she still retained the boosted stats.
Alright, Keiko. They got out... but let's use Magical Leaf twice on each of the Chinchou and see if that makes them faint.
Keiko nodded, determined. Hercules stood by; Ichiro may need to use him again later. The little Ralts released two beams of green, swirling energy which hit each of the Chinchous; just to make sure they were really gone, he had Keiko use her Magical Leaf on each of them once more. This ensured that they could be caught; he tossed two balls in their direction, crossing his fingers and hoping for the best.
