Certain Death? [Treasure Search / Complete]

There was a loud rumbling noise that shook the room where Rachel was currently in; and after looking around, she thought she felt the floor caving in on her again! “Oh, merde, why does it always have to be…” she groaned; before hearing another louder rumbling noise and then suddenly having spikes jut out from the floor, in an attempt to impale whoever had dared trespass on their domain! “CRAP!” she screeched; quickly hopping back on the dais and attempting to climb it; watching as more and more dangerous spikes that looked really ancient and were tinged with the smell of something nasty appeared from the floor. More and more of the aforementioned traps started ripping the floor apart—until the entire area was now covered with spikes, and there was no way out! “Oh, don’t tell me…” she groaned again, before quickly scrambling up the statue as high as she could and seeing that the spikes were roughly as tall as the weird thing that she had scaled in order to be able to see if there was a way out. Looking upwards, she then noticed that instead of a ceiling… there was a hole. She had no idea if the hole was going to be big enough to hoist her out of the place, before getting the idea of letting out her Braviary—watching as the flash of red light transformed into the avian; who then let out a squawk before quickly flapping his wings in an attempt to stay airborne. “Alright… yeah you see the problem? I’m kind of stuck here…” she began as sheepishly as she could, before the avian veered in as close as he could while avoiding the sharp spikes—they were sharp enough to kill on contact. As the Brav flew slightly higher, but still low enough for her to be able to grab onto his claws, she then whistled, before adding, “Stay there… I’ll grab your claws, and you can go fly…” and then boosted herself off the statue and made a swiping grab at the Brav’s claws. She’d missed the first time and was now apparently hurtling towards certain death—when she heard a loud screech and was roughly grabbed at the shoulders! “Thanks for the impromptu save, Sky… now… can you fly upwards for me, please?” she asked, feeling the adrenaline rushing through her body; due to avoiding certain death too narrowly. As the Brav initially struggled, she then felt herself rise through the air; before finally rising through the hole she’d caught sight of in the “ceiling”. Once she saw solid ground, she then tried to hoist her feet up; and after some effort, finally pulled herself into another room, the Brav now flying above her… 3 of 4, continuing the saga from here

After finally managing to land in another room altogether, Rachel quickly recalled her exhausted Braviary, who’d landed right in front of her, in a flash of red light before popping down the containment unit to its compact size. She then began to look around, just wondering if the place really held more than it seemed. It didn’t take too long for her to find and secure a small flash light; and then watched as the beam of light appeared; before wiggling it around—the better to see where the hell she’d ended up. Secretly thankful that the hole in the ceiling led to another room altogether, she then began to poke around the place; until she felt her foot step down on something with a subtle-sounding crunching noise. Wondering just what she’d stepped on, she then lifted up her left foot—and saw a broken piece of lens. “Merde,” she muttered, focusing the beam of light down on the thing she’d stepped on—it was a pair of glasses, now mangled beyond repair. One of the lenses was gone altogether; while the other had been reduced just now into a powdery, fine grit underneath her boot. “Definitely not,” she began, before looking around for an exit, shining the beam of her flash light up and down the place. The room she was in was much smaller than the one she’d just left earlier—but with luck, she’d be able to find a suitable exit and get out of the place—she had no idea what time it was anymore; as she’d forgotten to wear a watch before setting out and poking around the place. After managing to pull herself up to full height, Rachel finally got the chance to look around the place. It… was another room; and for some weird reason there was a hole in the floor—the exact same hole where she’d come through. She never knew how or why the hole got there in the first place; all that was important to her was to get out of here and fast! She then started searching her pockets and finally pulled out a flash light; wiggling and shaking it around before she managed to produce a beam of light coming out of it. Now that she had a proper light source, she could begin poking around aforementioned room; only stopping dead as she saw that there was another statue not too far from where she’d surfaced. “This is strange…” she began, before slowly approaching the statue. It was of a bird, yes—but what the hell was up with those wings?! She could only guess what they were supposed to be like; and as she was about to turn away—the attention of something…sparkling caught her eye. “Ooh, shiny,” she muttered, quickly closing the gap between herself and the statue so that she could examine it up close. The wing span of aforementioned statue was impressive on its own; but the thing that was glittering—it was located in the eye of the statue—was what really got her attention. She then reached up for the eye and attempted to wedge the marble loose; it came along with her fingers without a sound. Right then and there she realized, what if she’d triggered a trap?! She then began to look around rather nervously…hoping that nothing would happen. Nothing too bad, at least. Claiming, and as always, there are more shenanigans to be had!
