It was safe.” Click! ”God damn it all.” And just like that he was proven wrong. Slowly, he turned around with a lot of trepidation as he reached into his suit, readying to throw a couple of his knives at whatever it was that made a click. Knowing his luck when he made these sorts of expeditions alone, he didn’t trust his chances of this being not a trap. Only it wasn’t a trap. He stared. ”…when did this passageway get here? Are these ruins punking me already? Am I dreaming?” He pinched himself and grimaced. ”Nope. Not a dream. I didn’t get knocked unconscious by those horrid fumes.” That meant that this passageway was real. Well, as real as his eyes could tell him after waving his hand into the arch. He wasn’t the best at telling what were illusions yet despite practicing with Morgan on his off-time. ”…Well fortune does favor the bold.” He muttered to himself before taking a deep breath and taking a step into the passageway. AS SOON AS THE LIGHTS GO DOWN THE SHADOWS ARE ON YOUR SIDE ”Okay… everything’s looking safe so far.” Miguel sounded very confident as he slowly walked down the halls of the passageway with a flashlight in hand. His sure stride belied the fact that his senses were all on high alert and that his other hand was clutching a large, wicked-looking dagger. This time he wasn’t taking any chances. If there were any surprises awaiting him down the line that he couldn’t outrun, then he was going to put up one hell of a fight or summon his pokemon to wreck some serious shit before he went down. He was not going to go down in some nameless ruin in his new territory! Rrrrrrr…. The muscles in Miguel’s neck tensed when he heard that sound. Something was coming. Something that his senses couldn’t feel. A ghost, perhaps? Or something more? Rrrrrrrrrrrr…. The real question though was what he was going to use to combat the threat. His dagger? His wits? A pokemon? Several pokemon? A combination of the previous choices? There were so many choices to choose from and he needed to pick one soon. RRRRRRrrrrrrrr…. ”Where the hell is that noise coming from?” Miguel muttered to himself as he waved his flashlight around. He then nearly bit his tongue when his flashlight hit something big and red. Instead, he raised his dagger up and stopped, waving his flashlight over the thing to see what it was before it might attack him. He was expecting a threat, so he could be forgiven for being confused when he saw the monstrous visage of a sad thing that didn’t resemble any pokemon he’d ever seen. He stared. ”What. The. AS SOON AS THE LIGHTS GO DOWN THE SHADOWS ARE ON YOUR SIDE Miguel stared at the bizarre statue. It looked like a creature straight from a child's nightmares. That is, if the kid was smoking a lot of pot before he went to sleep that night. What made the sight creepier was that its bulging eyes were mismatched, with one of a normal-looking blue cat's eye marble and the other one a yellow and orange cat's eye marble that looked quite similar to the ones he had already picked up during this trek. He'd already learned his lesson last time about trying to pry stones off of creepy-looking statues. He wasn't looking for a repeat of the sludge incident, thank you very much. Especially not in a narrow passageway with only one way to escape the sludge. He was a sadist, not a masochist despite some claims due to the few people who get to see the massive scar on his chest or see the tattoos he had on his forehead. Therefore, in one of the first smart moves he'd made since he entered these ruins, Miguel simply shook his head and left the statue alone. Upon getting out, he leaned on one of the dusty old walls for a moment, uncaring of what might get onto his suit as he took a short breather. Climbing and running for one's life and then walking for long periods of time tended to tire even awesome tough guys like him out just a bit. He wasn't built for endurance after all, but agility. As he leaned on the wall and let himself observe, he grimaced as he noticed something very odd about the place. ”Did a hippie on a huge dose of his drugs decorate this place or something? It looks like a paint factory exploded in here.” Indeed, the room seemed to be filled to the brim with all the colors known by mankind and even some he'd never even seen before, mashed together in a combination that stung his eyes and left his stomach queasy. The shapes of the various decor made almost as much sense as the colors in this room, with their sharp turns and smooth curves blending and meshing in an odd combination that made the sight hurt even more. ”Screw exhaustion. AS SOON AS THE LIGHTS GO DOWN THE SHADOWS ARE ON YOUR SIDE Upon opening the next door, Miguel didn't find an exit. That was something that he had been expecting. However, he did not expect to see a gigantic Audino statue taking up most of the space in the room, making it almost impossible to enter without a lot of agility and flexibility. It was most fortunate that he had both or else he would have been forced to turn back where the horrid colors awaited him. He wasn't sure if his retinas could take that much punishment so he figured that his body might fare better with this task. With a deep breath, Miguel began to slowly inch his way into the room, being careful not to do something stupid like accidentally put too much weight on the giant Audino statue and make it topple over. It didn't take long before he was stopped by another obstacle - yet another one of those marbles. He huffed irritably and yanked it out of the way.
