This was truly a shocker for his trainer, who had even let him sit on top of her head for prolonged periods of time without major complaint—of course, there would be an annoyed moan here and there, but nothing dangerous like threatening to bite him or squeezing his skull. Unnur was honestly so surprised by the Fletchling's sudden evolution that she let him do as he pleased, making believe that he was still a tiny little robin who weighted next to nothing compared to the only slightly bigger, if still as annoying and weightless and lame as day one, bird. It was laughable, really. He was laughable.
But, despite being laughable, he was the reason they'd got through the wild horde of birdies that proved to be even more rude and annoying than him, and notably the reason they were now entering higher grasslands. Unnur supposed, as she bent over to pick up a red flower and Warner flapped his wings in a successful attempt at not falling on his face to the ground, that his efforts accounted to something. A ruffling noise nearby would soon distract Unnur from her musings, though, as she turned and got ready to attack whatever it was that was disrupting her journey.

Well, not really, Unnur was just exaggerating at this point. It was truly a tragedy that this Sunkern would appear in front of them, though. Out of any other combination of trainer and Pokémon possible, it had gotten to meet these two. Not that Unnur would look at it with any sort of pity. Far from it, in fact. She wanted it down and unconscious and all beat up for being so sneaky.
"Do it," she commanded, and the Fletchinder previously making a nest out of her hair descended onto it with speed that was almost unfair. The girl watched it plop down on its side, the yellows in its body now scorched and brown. It had tried. It really did try, the tiny seed abomination. Unnur watched it try and fail to fire seed bombs at them, for Warner was somehow faster and stronger than the Sunkern, and also more experienced and Unnur just could not picture Warner as anything but lame. This was weird. She could not and would rather not get used to Warner's new form. "Hey," she started. "Go back."

Unnur meant every word. Warner had looked at her quizzically, but she truly did not like this new setup at all. She could live with a slightly bigger bird, sure, but that did not mean she wanted to. Now, Unnur was not all that knowledgeable about Pokémon evolution, had her doubts about devolution being possible really, but she was fairly certain that someone should know. Someone like Erin, maybe? Erin knew all sorts of things; surely she'd also know how to get Warner back to normal. Yes, Erin was the way to go. Then again, Erin did not seem like she liked Pokémon all that much. Would she really know? Would she know people who knew? That was always another solution. Worth the try, at least.
The whiney thirteen year old was in the process of pulling out one small white device from her pockets when she spotted a big, pink ball running to meet her. No, not just one—many of them. Where had they come from? She had no idea. They were so big that she must have seen them coming from afar. Alas, she had not. "What do you want?" she snapped at thefirst Chansey to reach her. Unnur was in no mood to play with them; she had more important things to do. Like play with genetics, for instance. Poor Warner's genetics. She had to wonder, how hard would it be to impose Peter Pan Syndrome on him? And how plausible?
Before she could dial—two taps, really; the person she was trying to call was in her quick dials—, however, the Chansey would try to knock Unnur's mobile phone out of the way. Well, that was not nice at all. "Warner," she complained. "You play with them. I have things to do." Unnur did not mention said 'things' involved him becoming a Fletchling again, of course, though Warner could already imagine. He'd been around this opinionated brat long enough to be able to imagine what went through her mind, and he could confidently say these thoughts always terrified him. First, the Chansey, though. No, no, Chanseys, plural, for there was another approaching. With kids! One, two three Happiny in toe. What an adorable, vomit-inducing sight.
Just one use of Warner's oh-so-used Acrobatics would be enough to deal with the smaller ones, but what to do with the big egg carriers? The Fletchinder would ponder about this as he slashed at the one Chansey that had innofensively and innocently approached his trainer with a hardened wing, one shining the colour of steel. He jumped at it then, in a wonderful display of aerodynamic skill and power that was gained only by training. Warner guessed he could consider being forced to battle waves of wild Pokémon in multiple attempts at protecting his trainer as sufficient training, at least.
Oh, the things he had to do for her. Warner turned his head towards the girl for a fraction of a second, to check on her, and was surprised to find out that she was actually releasing another teammate to aid him in dealing with this wild horde. A Bergmite, the very Bergmite that was bullying Vienne all those weeks ago, whose presence he did not much enjoy, but a Bergmite that could hopefully bring one or even a couple of these down with him if he buffed up a bit, which would luckily be exactly what Unnur would be ordering him to do. "Sharpen, then attack." And, consequently, it would be exactly what he would do.
Following the sharpening of his icy cuirass, Valentine sent a breeze of icy wind at the offending Chanseys and Happinies, and then another. While the attack itself wouldn't be too harmful for the enemy, it would slow them down enough for them to finish with the ones that were already closeby. Unnur had already given up on calling her dark-haired friend—having no signal could really kill your persistence—and was now fully attentive to the ongoing battle, which put Warner at ease. That was one thing less to worry about. One Chansey down and the others temporarily unavailable, the Fletchinder could worry about the other one hulking closer, along the two small pink children beside it.
Warner sped up to meet the big sister with another display of Acrobatics. If one took into account his victim's speed, there were no chances of escape for it. Unnur watched, analytical eyes darting back and forth between her team and the enemy team. "Valentine, avalanche," she commanded, while the Fletchinder busied himself by hopping from the Chansey to the Happiny that was closest to him, and then to the other. The Chansey was too preocuppied with Warner's antics and its friends being knocked out to notice the Bergmite closing in on them to deal his final move, sending a torrent of snow on top of it.
An easy partial victory without any casualties on their side. Boring. Unnur hoped the other five were more entertaining. If they kept their pace, she'd be finding out in one, two... Oh, there they were. "Warner, stay behind for now. This is your chance, Valentine. Take them down," were the blue-haired preteen's commands. Warner did not like them, but he chose to say nothing, to stand back and see how the Bergmite handled the incoming horde, though he was certain that summoning a current of wind to speed things up would not hurt either of them. Not that he could say much, anyway; he was just a bird. And Valentine was just an animated chunk of ice, but he'd obey his trainer's orders to the best of his ability.
Bergmites weren't particularly known for their attack speed, or their speed in general, but neither were the normal-type Pokémon this particular Bergmite was facing. They were, however, well-known for their heavy weight, which Valentine would be taking advantage of spetacularly. Launching himself at one of the bigger eggs, he was able to bring one of them down to the earthy ground with him. Between his Take Down and the enemy's Pound and Double Slaps, Valentine would try to sharpen his body once more. He needed to be in optimal shape once he was able to set an avalanche of snow on top of them.
"Your turn," Unnur finally said, letting Warner reenter the scene. Most Happinies were able to escape Valentine's snow, not being rooted in place by any heavy chunks of ice, but the Chansey that Valentine was comfortably keeping down did not meet such a merciful end. It was out of the battle before it could even get in. Of course, this did not mean that the others remained in perfect shape. In their attempt to dodge, they and the remaining Chansey had ended up rolling on their faces in their desperate attempts to steer clear of the danger ahead.
Warner found them face-down, in a perfect state to slash through them in one rapid movement. Agility would have to be used again to allow a series of steel-hard slashes to harm his opponents, weakening some of them before he returned to with aerial attacks under his wings. Valentine was too tired and too slow to help the teal-coloured robin with this, but Unnur thought that he had done more than enough by sacrificing some of his health to make things easier on them. Warner could deal with the rest, given some time to work his wonders.
The Steel Wing and Acrobatics combination had worked marvelously, and most Playhouse Pokémon had either fainted or were very close to it by now. Warner would find himself at a crossroads, though. Just as he steered left to bring his claws down onto another Happiny, a bomb would find its way to him. His chances at dodging it would be then lowered by a second egg bomb, and a third mere seconds later. Well, this was not nice. Warner could be fast, but dodging all of these bombs at once was nearly impossible. All that was left was to be thankful that it was the Chansey throwing those eggs at him, lest it be healing its allies and further prolonging this battle.
Nevertheless, Unnur's silent watch would lead to one conclusion: the fourth Chansey had to go down first. "Stop fooling around. Take the big one down," came her new orders. Warner did not know whether his trainer couldn't see that he was being quite literally bombarded from all sides, for he would have certainly complained out loud if he could, but he guessed he had no option but to follow up with whatever the ridiculous brat was asking him to do. Which right now seemed to be to stop following around, okay, and make the Chansey go down. Yeah. Easy-peasy. Nobody move even an inch; he got this.
Arceus, was he annoyed with her. Would taking it out on the normal types work? Warner had done it all to often in the past, and quite succesfully if he was allowed to brag, so he doubted there would be any problem with another Frustration. If well-executed, and this he knew from experience, this move would wreck havoc. Even more so on Pokémon who were weak to physical attacks, like this one. Once the Chansey had fainted, finishing up with the rest would be a piece of cake; they had no healing moves and no annoying bombs. They did have the ability to confuse others by kissing them in an overly gross manner, just like Romi and those Jynx she had met all those years ago had, but that was something that had yet to be revealed.
In the most frustrating way possible, too. Who would have thought the kiss of the last remaining Happiny, after he'd dealt with the Chansey and two other Happiny, would leave him too confused to wrap up? Unnur scowled. "You're so lame, Warner," she grumbled, though she would deep down be content with this turn of events. Warner was still lame, despite his appearance change. He was the same tiny and obnoxiously lame thief he'd always been. Unnur could move on. She could live with this revelation. What she couldn't live with was with this Happiny making believe that it had won, however. Since Warner was not quite conscious of his actions at the moment, Unnur would have to rely on her Bergmite again. "Valentine," she called.
A new sharpening of his shiny cuirass was followed by a new current of wind to further slow it down, make it slow and easy to attack, and then a tackle to finish it off. Now that all nine of the egg carriers had fainted, Unnur could finally nod in contentment. She tried to weight the contents of her bag with one hand, debating whether or not it would be wise to use more pokéballs to catch these. She'd really bought a lot back in Bayonada, so might as well. Humming, she pulled out a set of red-and-white, and then black-and-yellow, round containers. A minute later, one had been dropped on each Pokémon, her Bergmite was back inside his pokéball, and Unnur was trying to mock Warner out of his confusion.
