PERSONALITY It should be noted that Elric is a computer scientist and an inventor. He loves to tinker with everything that sees that interests him. POKEMON
HISTORY Elric didn't have the life that he would have liked. In fact, his life has ended up nothing like he imagined it as a child, and in some ways he's happy, but in others, he wishes that he could go back and start over. He knows that he can't, of course, but that doesn't help the fact that he feels constant regret for something that truly wasn't his fault. Born in an Unova hospital just minutes after his twin sister, Erin, Elric started life off in the right track. The birth went well, and the parents were happy with their two youngest children. Yet, they had no way to know that it would be the last time they saw one of their children. While laying, helpless to protect himself, in the Hospital's nursery, a young, distraught nurse kidnapped Elric. She stole away from the Hospital as fast as she could, clinging onto Elric for dear life. Her husband was shocked at her actions, but he did nothing to stop her from keeping the child. Knowing that they could be tracked down at any moment, they packed up their worldly possessions and hit the road before anyone could catch onto the crime that they had both committed. The crime aside, Elric actually grew up very well loved and taken care of. It was apparent from his first few years of life that he was a brilliant child. He learned things quickly and never forgot them once he had. He didn't have any interest in anything or creative, and instead spent a lot of his time reading non-fiction books or playing outside conducting his own "experiments". When he entered school at age four, it was all too clear that he was far above his class when it came to academics. He went through his first year with flying colors, often complaining that he was so bored and everything was way too easy for him. He wanted a challenge, and after long talks with the educators at Elric's schools in Orre, the next year he started out in second grade. At first everything was fine, but it wasn't long before Elric's teacher was pulling his parents into their office and having a long talk with them. He was still finding absolutely no challenge in his studies, and as much as the teacher tried to challenge him themselves, he was much too smart for the little tricks and quickly solved whatever was placed in front of him. The solution? Put a test in front of him to determine his aptitude. The result? He started fourth grade the very next year, skipping yet another grade. It didn't come as any shock the very next year when Elric was allowed to skip yet another grade and found himself in sixth grade. From there, it was pretty much smooth sailing. He continued through his next few years in school without many issues and with the proper amount of challenging coursework. He even won a few spelling bees and a national science fair in his eighth grade year. Before he started his high school years, his parents made the decision to move to Nue. They settled in Wizen, advocating that their schools were better here. When he first arrived in Wizen, he found a friend in a retired Interpol agent named Arabella Crane, who became his nanny. Elric was quite fond of the middle-aged woman, his favorite thing about her being the fact that she didn't try to pry or force him to do anything that he wasn't ready to. She acted as a role model and helped him get ready for his first year of high school while his parents were working, and prepared him meals every morning, afternoon, and night. She would take him to an event or that attraction when he asked, and she was just an all-around beneficial presence for Elric. Even though he was still very young, he was happy that she knew when to give him his space and when he needed just a little bit of comfort. He made a few friends at his new school, but he didn't try to throw himself into the masses like he had in his old home. He soared through school with the same ease that he always had, working through his four years of high school, taking as many of the advanced classes as he possibly could, entering all of the science contests that he could manage. He enjoyed his high school years, and found constant council and support in Arabella. Up until then, he'd just been gliding through school without much of a care of thought of where he was going to go after he graduated. Now with nowhere else to look but up, Elric decided right then that he wanted to be a trainer and he wanted to go to college. It was a good thing he'd spent the time to put in all of those applications, right? Thankfully for him, Elric had been accepted into a Wizen University as an Engineering and Computer Science double major. Thrilled at the prospect of a challenge, Elric threw himself into his coursework. After a few years of schooling, he obtained his associates degrees in his two chosen majors, and started work on his Bachelors. He glided through his Junior year of college with the same simplicity of all his previous grades, but his last day of his Junior year of college was the very last time he would see his parents. Already eighteen years of age, and having spend his entire life with his parents, he wasn't prepared for what happened on that day. He was walking away from the school building to get home, when everything started to crumble down around Elric. It started out with an Eevee. A baby Eevee, to be more particular. The poor thing was wandering alone on the road, and most people were either avoiding it or trying to shoo it off the streets. A group of kids, however, thought that it would be funny to try and beat on it with their brand new Pokemon. Witnessing this, Elric jumped into their midst, rolled right as one of the Pokemon launched a fire attack at the poor Pokemon, and took the hit right as he put his arms around the Eevee. The result was the entire back of his shirt being burned off and him sustaining serious burns, but to him, it was worth it because the Eevee was safe from harm. Unable to take the shame of what they had done, the group of children ran off, leaving Elric alone with his new Pokemon and burned very badly. It was a good thing that some people are kind, because before he knew it, a little old lady and her son had found him in the alley and were taking him and his new Eevee to the hospital. It just had to be fate that Elric's parents had alerted Interpol that very day when they came into contact with someone from their past. His name had been flagged earlier in the day and his entry into the hospital set off a bell in Interpol's system, and soon after he was wheeled to his room, a group of agents and Arabella visited his room. The Eevee, which he'd named Voltage, was protective at first, bouncing around the bed and making aggressive little noises at the agents dressed in uniform, but a few little pats from a tired Elric calmed the Pokemon right down. When everything was calm, one of the Agents sat down and started to talk to him. He asked what Elric liked to do, how he had enjoyed high school and his last day of school, and just tried to wear him down. When the man was sure that Elric trusted him enough, he broke the news to the teen. His parents had been arrested for kidnapping. For kidnapping him. His name had been flagged earlier in the day, and his entry into the hospital had tipped off the Interpol missing persons database to his location and the group had instantly gotten to work. They had tracked down Elric's "parents" and arrested them on the spot. The agents started to explain that he would be allowed to visit his real parents now that he had been found, and they would alert them, but Elric cut them off. He didn't want to see his real parents. He didn't want to go with a family that he knew nothing about. In all actuality, he didn't think he could handle the disappointment that would come if his parents weren't who or what he thought they were. Distraught at the loss of the only parents he had ever known, he asked to simply be left Nue and kept under Interpol supervision until he was ready to meet his real parents. He just wanted to learn and train with his new Pokemon and he could do with few distractions, especially those of the parental kind. After a long moment of silence, the Interpol agent agreed to Elric's request, and before long, and after quite a bit of healing, Elric was released to his continued life in Wizen. He moved in with his nanny for the time being until he could get himself onto his own two feet. He hadn't outright expressed his interest in being a Pokemon trainer, but when Arabella placed a Thunder Stone into his hand for his brand new Eevee, he was filled with a new sense of purpose. After getting out of the hospital, he threw himself back into his coursework, working through his Senior year of college. In his downtime, Arabella would take him out to train with his newly evolved Jolteon, and even helped him to catch a few more Pokemon to add to his team. All of them were electric types, and the one time that Arabella tried to get him to add a fire type to his team, he refused. He had the massive burn scar on his back to prove just how little faith he had in fire type Pokemon, and not wanting a repeat of those few years ago, he avoided fire Pokemon like the plague. It was around this time that he was approached by the Pokemon League as a prospective Gym Leader. Figuring that the money would probably be useful later on, he took the job instantly and started to pack up his things to move to Bayonada. Knowing that the gym wouldn't pay much, he also found a job with his degree, working in a lab in Bayonada to invent new gadgets and fixing up computers. Soon after he moved to Bayonada, he shut his brand new gym down for a much needed face lift, getting help from his employers to pay for the renovations. At the age of twenty, he is still working on his Masters degree, and his gym is still under construction, as he's been absolutely meticulous to make sure that everything is utterly perfect. Arabella is still a very constant presence in his life, as he only recently moved out of her apartment and out on his own in a new city. Within recent weeks he's started to think more about finding his family that he's avoided for so long, and has even spoken with Interpol about allowing him to go and try to search for them. They have given him all of his personal documents, and now that he is of age, he is able to start the hunt for his family. He only hopes that they are much better role models than his first set of parents... RP SAMPLE
